Switch in Newcastle upon Tyne

I thought this was a gay bar but apparently it's for straights only. It has a lone male policy which means only straight people are allowed in.

I had the greatest time in there staff were very lovely especially the girl called becca with the brown hair she looked after us very well 👍

Door staff are absolutely fantastic and really helpful

racism staff and disrespectful they have insulted 5 of us for no reason and throw our ID and license and they tried to harm us for no reason i have never seen brutal animal like that in my entire life and they don’t let anyone in except their own people. we will come next time with police and will claim for bringing racism staffs like that who insult other countries..

Love this here. Great bar and great atmosphere with welcoming and friendly staff. Drinks are great as well. Got a few floors which are both amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely shocking drink; no bubbles in mine or my friends pint & it was quiet. I went to the bar to ask for a different glass & they said sorry "we have no more glasses" it's 10pm and there's 5 other customers... not cool. The pint was just awful. I will not return.

The security guard at the entrance didn't let me in and pushed me. I didn't understand why.

Didn’t eat here as went on the evening but the Friday night was amazing 🤩- lots of seating upstairs to get to know new people, downstairs the music was banging and atmosphere electric. Would definitely return.

It was really crowded when we went there, but hey what else would you expect on a Saturday night in Newcastle!! Drinks wise pretty much all you get at a club, although the bar space is not huge. Decent bar and two floors of music with a separate open smoking area. Toilets are right there not too far from the bar.

Friendly atmosphere even towards someone like me who's straight. Had a fun night

The drinks are great incamt lie but I was waiting for a drink for 20 mins then 2 ppl were served beforehand afterwards I was told mo more service at the bar

Love this bar however the ceiling looks like it’s going to cave in, there is black mild all over one of the toilet cubicles and it’s dripping. Health hazard City if this isn’t solved soon. I hope the venue sorts it as it is the one of the best bars in Newcastle but this lets it down.

Pleasant staff with a friendly atmosphere

One of the best bars I been in the new castle. Everyone felt welcome, the people that worked there was very nice ! Defo recommend to visit. Music was fantastic as well! Loved it!

Been to this bar several times before using a CitizenCard as ID and had a great time, recently went to go out with my friends and suddenly they refuse to accept my ID and not allow me entry into the club. It’s a fully legal SIA, PASS and police approved form of ID, shouldn’t be refused just because they don’t like it

Extremely crowded and sweaty, 90% male and 10% female. Poor selection of drinks available.

a lot of reviews are talking about the toilets which i can’t particularly remember so they can’t have been that bad. drinks were a bit expensive but much better music and much less intimidating patrons (read: straight men) than somewhere like rustys. unfortunately still very straight-dominated past a certain point in the night but felt much safer

DJs are really good however the drink prices are shockingly high compared to the rest of the scene and not very clean

Good atmosphere inside completely ruined by an aggressive doorman who made a xenophobic comment to my friend. I reported this to the supervisor at the time but she didn't seem to care or provide an apology. For a place that is supposed to have an inclusive vibe, I 100% won't be going back!

Stinky dirty place now. Toilets flooded and smelly, no soup. Sticky floors. Probably the worse pub on the scene which is sad as it used to be a great venue.

The floor is very sticky hard to get services during peak times the music is always good though and the smoking terrace is a bonus

It's not horrendous but it's not good. Dirty smelly toilets flooded with urine. Expensive drinks (of very cheap alcohol) Ridiculously loud music

It would have had a good rating but when I forgot to go to the toilet before I left and asked the bouncer if I could quickly go back in to use the facilities I was advised I couldn't, I then started explaining I have had a bladder problem which I've had since I can remember and was asked if I have "my card" so still refused so much for an "all inclusive" bar if you have a hidden disability remember to use the toilet before you go outside or at least don't forget your "card" or "lanyard" or you will be denied toilet use once you leave the premises.

Great music. Mixed crowd. Best venue on the street

Excellent vibe music and people, however the prices do not reflect the establishment.. Must be smartly dressed for evenings. Toilets need serious attention! disabled access on ground floor from front or rear of the premises.
