For our meeting with our Ladies' Club we needed to order 32 portions of Fish & chips ( some had ordered chicken & chips and pies and chips) and these were delivered to our Club. The order was accurate, delicious and piping hot. The two Ladies who delivered them, Aysel and Sam were brilliant. They very kindly brought extra items e.g. salt, vinegar, mushy peas and curry sauce with no extra charge. Nothing was too much trouble. They even said we could bring the containers they brought the food in, back at our own convenience. Such lovely ladies, such brilliant service! All 32 of us would highly recommend their chip shop to everyone.

The food is always fresh, staff friendly and chips are fantastic! Best in area by a long way ! The kebabs are great with fresh salad and a variety of sauces👍🏼

Went for a chicken kebab and chips they were awful the chicken was burnt and hard the chips were soggy and hardly any salad will not have it from them again

Food is ok, but I was shocked earlier this year when the price of chips went up by almost 20%. I was amazed when visiting today that it has gone up by almost 20% once again. Since the start of the year a regular chips, which was £2.10 is now £2.90. I know that costs and prices are increasing, but some establishments are just taking the advantage. Time to find another chippy!

Apparently this fish shop has won all sorts of awards. i can't imagine how. I live nearby and have visited this shop several times. Each time I found the cod and chips to be below average. For some reason they give enormous portions of chips as if this will make up for the poor flavour. Every time I end up throwing over half of them away. All I want is a sensible portion, tasting good. Is that so difficult? Oh and the mushy peas. What is it with this shop's peas? They must add some artificial food dye or something because they always look a very dark green. They should realise that real, natural peas don't look like that at all.

Being new to Burntwood we wanted to find a decent chippy! Tried one called sea queen! Absolutely gross then stumbled across this one and been twice and both times the fish & chips have been lovely not soggy or greasy. And the mushy peas are the best ever!

Have been to quite a few Chip shops around the area, even Rugeley. This is the best fish and chip I have been to this last 12 Months . Two Haddock, no salt and vinegar. Staff excellent. . Will be going back this Saturday 27/3/21.

So tonight I want to this place and was give food that had been standing around for all most half the night so my husband who is severely vulnerable took it back to explain and was told that there was nothing they could do and that her husband who owns the shop as got a fiery temper and the end of the day the customer is all ways right if you cannot deal with bad feed back then close the place down I am now giving them 24hours to get this sort I am taking my stories to the location paper and making sure that the own gets strip of ever tile he owns and have the shop close down I have involved the police 👮‍♀️ as I am not having this deal with

We enjoy the new Greek menu as you can’t get this type of food locally and where else! The family always loves battered chips and Chinese curry sauce too! Something for everyone!

Great food really enjoyed the company especially Sam the Person who served us was really polite and friendly

Usually the fish is excellent but last night it was only so so. Interestingly they seemed to have quite a bit of fish in the display which is unusual as normally you’d have to wait for the fish to be fried. My biggest gripe is that they don’t accept cards so for the first time since March cash had to change hands. Surprised that as a food premises they’re not required to have card facilities. Also the fish and chip shops In Lichfield provided a pre-ordering facility but that isn’t available here which is a shame.

Visited this chip shop today , gobsmacked how rude and ignorant the staff are , you’d think in the current climate , they would appreciate your custom

Only person in the shop and waited ages wrapped the chips up first and then left them on the to go cold asked for a kebab wrap I don’t think they know what a wrap is. Once at home anything had to go in the microwave but ended up in the bin complete rubbish. Never ever again

Fantastic chip shop, friendly and lovely staff.The owners are really lovely people and give you a really warm welcome upon entering the shop. They take two weeks off in the summer for a family holiday and those are the two weeks we don’t have chips.

Really don't understand how this chip shop has won awards???!!!! The normal chips are insipid and extremely unappetizing having seen this I decided on battered. Big mistake they tasted of absolutely nothing and were extremely greasy. The fish was very over cooked almost like it had been cooked twice so was hard and tasteless but had that really horrible fishy smell. This has to be the WORST chippy I have ever been to complete waste of money - never again!

Went here today for the first time and I can honestly say the best in Burntwood! The staff were so nice and even though there was a line , they were super quick. It wasn’t long of a wait either after I had ordered and I ordered for my whole family. The service was quick , the staff were friendly and I couldn’t fault any of the food. Truly amazing❤️

I live in Kent and eat fresh fish and chips frequently, however this chip shop leaves mine behind. Quality, quantity, service and value for money can’t be beaten. Sam behind the counter knows her customers and truly a happy place to visit. I must say this is probably the cleanest chip shop ever.

Great chips not too soggy and did the job for my boys treat for dinner. It’s our local so we use it probably once a month

This fish and chip shop is the best in Staffordshire, its food is always fresh, hot and very appetising, there is always a que because the food is delicious, when it's that good you do mind waiting because you know your going to enjoy it!

Very slow service and I had terrible Diarrhoea after eating their food, it was the only food I ate that day so in my opinion there was nothing else I could blame but their food...

Have used this place quite a lot over the last 6 months, but for some reason their chips always seem to stick to the paper now, and I only live a 2 minute drive from here. If you’ve changed the paper, please change it back. Because it’s not as nice when you have to peel half of your chips off to eat them. Shame as chips here and kebabs are very nice.

Like another reviewer we also drive miles to use this shop. The haddock is always cooked fresh to order, the batter is usually crispy though last time it wasn't quite cooked inside and the fish is always flakey. Last time I had half and half chips ( plain/ battered). Yes there can be a queue at busy times but there's a lot of staff so you don't have to wait too long. If you haven't tried the onion rings you're missing out!!! Naan bread kebabs are massive - very tasty but massive- and definitely made for sharing.

Excellent Fish & Chip shop, the best around. We drive over from Lichfield to use it. Service is always good, prices are good & the quality of the food is excellent. Staff are always friendly. Due to its popularity, it can be busy, despite plenty of other places around.

I went to Swan Island Fish Bar just in passing one evening and ordered some Haddock and a small portion of chips . The service was very welcoming and when I got home I was surprised to find how large the piece of fish was and it was cooked to perfection .

Great food,great staff so clean you could eat off the floor. Well deserves their award.Everyone is polite nothing too much trouble.

Went here as we were passing and decided to pull in. (It was late and nearly closing) so didnt think the food was great. Think we would have to try again during the day to actually see n taste the fresh cooked food.

Voted chip shop of the year 2017/18.easy to see why. The plaice (sorry place) is gleaming. The staff are clean and tidy and very friendly. The queue is out the door. Oh and the fish and chips are superb!

Went here a few months ago as where we have used for last few years as gone down so very much in Burntwood area.

having just visited the swan island fish bar tonight 31/05/2018 to order food for my family i stood in line and placed my order with a young lady stating that i would like the well done doner meat that was on the spit, a gentleman behind me ordered a chicken burger and a large tray of doner meat. I then patiently waited for my food order. i had ordered a fish for my wife that came out slightly after the chicken burger so my well done doner meat was given to the customer that was behind me i was then offered the doner meat that was on the spit which was not done enough for me. I had waited for 10 minutes due to the shop being busy which i understood, i declined the under done doner meat for me and asked for my money back shaking my head as i had only asked for what i had come in for the lady shop owner was then quite aggressive to me saying why am i shaking my head and THEN CALLING ME PATHETIC IN FRONT OF 3 CUSOMERS AS A 51 YEAR OLD NORMAL GUY THAT HAS SUPPORTED THAT BUSINESS FOR 4 YEARS I WAS APPALLED. I HAVE GOT MY HARD EARNED MONEY BACK AND I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER PENNY IN THERE AGAIN. all the lovely smiles and fish shop of the year etc giving papers away have been let down by hard working people that support local businesses just being treated like muck to be told we know him the customer how long is it before you know me my wife is so let down by this business we have spent good money in there to be treated badly. I see you have lots of negative reviews just lately my advise to you is to get back to looking after customers and not calling them pathetic

Thursday 5.30pm - fish cakes dry, small sausages dry - obviously been there since lunchtime. Mixed chicken meat, dry. Not impressed at all. Will be giving this so called award winning chippy a miss in future.

Just visited had doner kebab and chips .waited half an hour .chips were barely warm and in the pitta bread was three strips of lamb! Very disappointing ,this was my regular chippie but last two visits have been bad ,need to find somewhere else ,depending on who servers you makes a big difference to what you get which is wrong .

So slow it would of been quicker to walk over the shops and cook it at home the lad is a waste of time last time And as for my wrap what a mess

I visit at least once a week and the queue out of the door speaks for itself. Absolutely spotless shop and staff, with delicious food which is never left standing as it is so busy! Chips are beautiful - no eyes or nasty bits you have to look out for from other shops. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Reliable, friendly and super delicious

Food was tasty and hot. Found it to be fairly regular and nothing out standing. Just like a normal fish and chip shop. Nothing stood out for me.

The food was terrible and after looking up the award winning restaurant i was shocked to see it was all a lie. They haven't won which to me is dalse advertisement and i eont be using ever again. Food greasy staff rude and the owner well no words to describe absolutely disgusted

Recently moved to the area and was recommended this 'award winning' fish bar.

The Cod and Chips are really good, it is a pleasant place to visit, the staff are very nice people. Prices about the same as elseware.

We regularly have chips from here as we have found the combination of excellent food and great customer service makes it a great place to get dinner.

We were driving past one night recently looking for somewhere to eat and everywhere was busy. My wife doesn't normally ask for fish and chips but on this occasion she noticed the "award winning" sign outside and said she fancied fish and chips.

Excellent service and the food was outstanding. Couldn't review the chicken tikka kebab high enough. Lush curry sauce too.

Portions are all very generous! Food is top quality - and costs a bit more than other local fish and chip shops, but you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

Called in for lunch as I was in the area. As good as any chip shop meal I've had. Staff are lovely and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Was really looking forward to cod & chips when I was visiting family . Really disappointed. Batter was terrible . Thick and gloopy . We ended up throwing them away . Such a shame as last time they were great

Always friendly service. Quality excellent but queuing time on busy evenings can be disappointing even though the staff are very efficient and serve the customers as quickly as possible. Have been known to join the queue outside the shop!! This speaks for itself - will always keep going back.

Always good food and great service no matter how busy they are, if you want something different and they can produce it, they will but you may have to wait a little longer than normal, my husband like fish without batter and they do it for him every time.

I have used this chip shop many times and the service and food are excellent. I would say the best in the area. Do not mix it up with the Queens fish bar across the road, if you do you'll be sorry.

The best chip shop around. This is the only one I go to. The owners and staff are very friendly. The car park is jsut round the back.

We use this chippy at least twice a month lovely food a good choice of food only thing I didn't like was last meal I had I ordered a plain chicken wrap and got mostly burnt chicken bits but otherwise is usually very good.

You won't believe what you get for your money, the service is top notch also- very very friendly, happy, welcoming staff. Sankey's used to be our favourite chip shop but the last few months haven't been up to their standards. Food hasn't been great, especially the chips.

I have used this Fish and Chip shop a few times now and can not fault the service , the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff. The food is always piping hot and they do lightly battered chips that are fabulous much better than normal ones. You can also pay by card and there id plenty of parking outside as well as disabled access.

Best fish and chips in the Midlands and luckily I live just around the corner. Lovely, friendly owners. Credit to our neighbourhood!

Have been coming here for years and it's always lovely and fresh. All the food is well cooked and well presented. Can't fault any of it and have tried the lot over the years. Staff always friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommend.

I visit this place once a wk and have never been disappointed! They deliver great tasting food , fast ,fresh and consistent! The staff are really friendly, knowledgeable, personable and efficient! The only down side is sometimes the queues ( because they're so popular ) and when ya ordering battered chips..there delicious n worth waiting for! I love this place n they're mixed kebab meat n chips in a tray is to die for! Filled to the brim and piping hot !! Love it x

Servers are very quick to take your money giving back short change and on the two occasions I have got home and my order was wrong,both times!! as a result I have stopped using this chippy,maybe other users are less concerned,fish quality is not good either,again overcooked fish,soggy batter or hard batter,don't let this great British tradition lose its (sole)l.o.l.

I would have agreed with the other reviewers at the time they wrote their reviews. Unfortunately over the last month or so we have had disappointing meals on three different occasions. They seem to have changed the fish batter. In contrast to the crispy batter they used to produce, the cod is now encased in thick, stretchy, spongy stuff. It keeps the fish moist but is totally uneatable. This has been the case on two occasions a few weeks apart. On the basis of this we decided to have pies tonight. They were luke warm, so much so that I worried about eating the meat inside as I didn't know how long they have been kept at this temperature. So sad for a chip shop we have used for many years and recommended to others. The two stars were for the chips which were still lovely and the cod itself which was succulent. Not enough to keep us though - we will be giving the Redwood chop shop a try.

We visited this fish and chip shop on the recommendations posted on trip advisor, what a hidden little gem I have not had as nice cod since we visited the lizard in Cornwall last October and that cod was caught the same day. I ordered a large cod and a large chips the cod was excellent the cod fillet was flakey and white the batter was just right and the chips, well I won't be ordering a large portion again as there was enough to feed 4 people (I counted at least 8 large scoops) the staff were very friendly and as I had to wait while the cod was cooked fresh they kept asking me if I was ok with the wait to which I replied it was no problem. I would highly recommend this fish shop as one if not the best in the Cannock / Lichfield area.

Having had many takeaways from here before the changes and enjoyed them all is was worried about the changes but I can honestly say they are even better the fish is juicy and succulent, the chips are the best in the area, and the sundries we tried were excellent(mushy peas and chicken tikka )

You might think your local chippy is good but you need to visit this one. It's not our local by any means (its a good 10 /15 mins drive) but on recommendation we tried it and we've not been anywhere else since. It can get rather busy but there are a lot of staff so you never have long to wait. I often have haddock, cooked on arrival, and it is enormous and so tasty and the batter is crunchy not soggy like some places. The kebab meats are very good value, and unlike kebabs in other chip shops neither of us has suffered the after effects associated with the next morning. They have the usual fish, roe, chicken, pies but also do amazingly thick chicken strips and fabulous onion rings all freshly cooked -so many onion rings for just £1!!! Battered chips are readily available on Friday's, otherwise they'll cook them specially for you. The staff are all really friendly (unlike my local chippy where they're so miserable they should retire). Give this shop a try, it's so much better than the other many chip shops in the area and trust me - we've tried them all!! Its also much better value for money. Go on -treat yourself to a chippy tea -you won't regret it.
