Swallow Cafe in Glasgow City

2nd time short of item, bought 3 suppers, half portion chips, awful, never use again

Great food as always, been coming here for years and it's still a great chippy.

The food was not bad but the seating area was dirty and the staff was smoking at the back/kitchen which filtered into the restaurant part. The presentation seemed a bit primative but the fries were good. The sausage was in batter which I did not ask for. I waited a very long time but the gentleman was pleasant enough.

Watched the guy heat kebab meat up on a hot plate with hot water. Freezing cold cheese dumped on already cold chips and sauce straight from the fridge on top of kebab meat. Come on seriously.. pizza wasn't up to much either. I remember this place was great. Maybe new owners?

Actually the best Mac & Cheese in the world.

Chips are rubbish. All so hard and crispy. Could not eat them.

Avoid.Fish was not fresh and bland

Place is a total joke ordered macaroni and it’s supposed to come with chips and garlic bread as stated in menu but only macaroni arrived I phoned up about this and was told things are getting too expensive so they removed the chips and garlic bread so got half a tray of macaroni

I used to go here every day 35 years ago when I went to Whitehill Sec School. Wow, how downhill has this place gone. I should have trusted my instincts as soon as I walked in. It had a dirty feel to it. Ordered shish kebab. It was heated on a hot plate rather than a flame grill. Even the donner meat for a customer in front of me was heated on tbe same plate rather than on the rotisserie. Also ordered a hamburger supper. Both items were disgusting. The lamb in tbe shish kebab was like rubber and had an awful taste to it, I took one bite spat it out and straight in tbe bin with it. My sisters hamburger supper was also a letdown. Even the appearance of the batter, it was rock solid and the chips were too, despite just been freshly made. The staff were nice, but overall I felt the premises were run down and in need of a deep clean. The food was at best disgusting. Needless to say I was back in the car and up to macdonalds.

Great for a sit in munch after a walk round the park, or whatever! Chilled, relaxing atmosphere in the cafe. Fresh chips.... Lovely! Good chippie food, fine service, reasonable prices. All good!

Cold greasy mess that you wouldn’t feed to a stray dog sickened by the poor quality of food I was sent, fit for the bin waste of time and money wouldn’t recommend. 🤢

Please for the love of god explain to the delivery driver what a doorbell is, not great finding out my foods been left at the front door in the rain -.-

Got food to quarrywood road g21 ordered wasn’t right phn bk up and was told they cant send the right order out that I payed for and every bit of the food was cold!!

Special fish was lovely but was all broken up. Chips and fritters had to be reheated in my oven as they weren't hot.

Awful experience.Went in in morning,place full of overloud women using foul language.Place is clearly very cliquey.Ordered a big breakfast which,according to the menu,came with tomatoes and mushrooms.Came with neither.So if you want to hear everyone elses business and f-bombs,and don't mind not getting everything you paid for,this is the place for you,but if you want a nice quiet breakfast early in morning,you should probably go elsewhere.

Fritters and food in general is excellent...and the owners are friendly. Was a nice nostalgic visit after working there as a teenager. Potato fritters have always been a focus of that chippy over the years. Glad they have kept serving 😋

FANTASTIC FOOD, chicken pakora was so fresh with a lovely fresh salad and sauce. Sarbeni was also very tasty as was the mac n cheese and burgers. All were piping hot so lasted until I got home to the south side. Will be back!!

Popped in for a tea and coffee. We had plate of chips each one with a roll the other with curry sauce. Chips were lovely and fresh. Staff really friendly. Place was full when we left at 3pm.

Turkish restaurant. Very nice place. Beautiful and tasty salads. Very tasty chicken. Fish and chips large portion only £6.20 (two pieces of fish and chips). Easy acces and not too far from parking place. Food are prepared very fast. I recommend.

This place is worthy of 5+ stars. Great service and value.

Avoid. Gave part of order wrong. I call them and they drop the call and then call back in 15 mins saying the driver will swap this to the other guys order. Meaning we'd both have cold food. By this time i had eaten some of it as had waited 1 hr 30 mins for a delivery. As I had eaten some of it, he said I wouldnt be getting my order and he told the driver that and then ended the call. I'll stick to Spice Magic from now on.

Margaret enjoys a fritter on a buttered roll and the swallow cafe have always supplied me with the best tasted fritters.

Fish and Chips tonight was excellent, Best I've had....ever. I've paid almost double than what I paid tonight, from Other Fish and Chips Shops, up in North East Scotland......Well presented in cardboard Boxes. Loved it.

Was quite disappointed with my order tonight. Chicken in our chicken Kebabs wasn't fresh it looks as though it has been reheated and has a funny taste so has now went in bin. Kids pizza suppers weren't that nice. Pizzas were that hard the kids couldn't even cut into them properly. Also we paid for a 2lt bottle of coke and only received 1.5 L.We have used Swallow Café alot in the past few years! And we have never been disappointed until now

I supply catering equipment,and also do catering equipment repairs,and I have been in a lot of take aways,but thought i would pop i to the swallow one night on the way home,i can only say the food was absolutely amazing, everything tasted just right,i take my hat of to the chef,the staff are friendly and make sure you get what you ordered i for one will certainly be back.

Just had the absolute worst chicken pakora I've ever seen absolutely disgusting the pizza was supposed to be thin based looked more like thick slices of warburtons toasted bread rank rotten hope the local wildlife has strong teeth as I've left it out for them to try eat it fair to say I wont recommend it spend your money else where

My son was born in Glasgow. I've told him stories about the Swallow Café for years. We had a memory lane trip last week, and I am pleased to say that the food, the service and the friendly welcoming atmosphere are as good now as they have ever been. We sat in the window and watched the world go by without any of that 'have you finished yet' feeling. The prices are very reasonable, as are the portion sizes. The staff are kid friendly too.

Abso rotten .. 25 mins on a sausage supper take away .. n even at that tasted like the fat in the chip pan hasn’t been cleaned in year

My kids have been eating here regularly after school. They love it. I now eat here once a week with my daughter while waiting for son to finish after school study classes for his Highers. Food is consistently good, staff are honest and friendly. It is one of the few places my autistic daughter feels comfortable eating regularly.
