Pub ottimo per fare una sosta pranzo o brunch, ma sicuramente ottimo anche per il breakfast, abbiamo pranzato con un’ottima pie e fish and chips molto abbondanti. Birra come in tutti i pub buonissima.

Fantastic pub with a lovely atmosphere. We came here for dinner as we were in the area, and were pleasantly surprised by how busy it was! The staff were fantastic and really accommodating to our adjustments to our food, and the pub itself was very clean and spacious. We will definitely be recommending The Sussex and coming back when we are next in the area!

What a great reception we received from Vicki the Bar Lady. Friendly and happy. Very helpful and made our lunch very enjoyable, making sure we had all that we needed. Owen the Chef made the sandwiches to perfection and our experience in the Sussex Arms made a lovely stop. We'll done guys!!!....We'll be back!!

Right in the middle of the lanes in Brighton. This pub has a good selection of pub grub beers and wine. The girls behind the bar were awesome and thank you for great service.

We were on a day trip from Bedford. We were looking for a pub lunch. The pub looked lovely from the outside with people enjoying lovely looking meals in the outdoor seating area. We ate inside. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent and clearly freshly prepared. The salad was crisp and fresh and the chips were delicious. If we visited Brighton again, we would definitely go back.

We stumbled across the Sussex and managed to get a table sitting outside, very good choice of drinks and the food looked so good when it came out we decided to share two small plates which did not disappoint, staff are friendly and provide excellent service.

Fabulous service by Vicky, Jed and Owen. Food was amazing! Had a lovely time and stayed for drinks, had a laugh and we left with some good memories of our final night in Brighton. I insist you visit this fabulous establishment.

Popped in last night to watch the England match. Bar staff were super friendly, Kat, Vicky and Georgia couldn't have done more for us. Superb atmosphere and refreshing pints. Couldn't recommend more! Was a little karfuffle but the team acted swiftly and superbly. Certainly worth a visit if you're ever in Brighton!

Stopped here for drinks on a visit to Brighton. When we saw the menu we decided to eat there. Great veggie menu we shared 5 small plates. I know this is only a chain pub but the food was lovely everything was cooked and presented beautifully. Well done to the chef and lovely staff working behind the bar. Lovely old pub too will return

Came in to the pub to be immediately greeted with a smile and hello. It made us feel welcome and a place you wanted to spend time. The food was freshly cooked and again served with a smile. Would I come here again …. Yes most certainly if the 2 ladies that served us were on duty YES. Thank you for making us feel welcome. 100% what hospitality is all about … being hospitable. Other establishment could learn a lot !

Food was HORRENDOUS. To start, we had halloumi sticks which were drowned in sauce with random watermelon chunks and “honey mustard sausages” which were just cocktail sausages in a mix of honey and English mustard - not how they should be made. Then we had the katsu burger and cheese burger for main. The buns were hard, burgers really dry and batter really soggy.

We had arranged to meet up with friends and had suggested The Sussex based on previous visits as both a couple as well as a meeting place with other friends. The welcome is always warm and personal by any of the staff who are on. We have been lucky enough to be hosted by a number of bar staff as well as got to know members of the kitchen staff when they have been in the pub area. The curtesy shown customers is faultless regardless of however busy the pub is, staff always take the time to chat with customers, again giving a very personal feel to service. There is a great and open feel to this pub, upon entering you will notice just how well kept it is, not once being less than spotlessly clean. Staff are always busy between serving customers ensuring all surfaces and tables are kept without a trace of food or glass marks everything has a polished finish. When ordering food, staff are always ready to provide advice on the menu. Our experience has always been that customers are asked if there are any food allergies prior to order too. The Sussex has live music usually on a weekly basis which has an absolutely great inclusivity for all, the age range of custom has always been a perfect mix, and just adds to the lovely feel of the pub. A perfect venue for just drinks or if wanting light food or more substantial meal, couldn’t rate it highly enough. A special thank you to all staff, namely Kat, Vicki, Georgia, Jed, Dan, Dom, Helen and Chefs, Louie, George and Owen, A Great Team.

Large group booking. Staff all very attentive, very relaxed atmosphere and they couldn’t have done anymore for us! Food came out in good time, had to preorder as we were a large group of 13 but it was very easy to manage. We were in Brighton for the weekend and all of us returned to the Sussex at points over the weekend as we liked it so much! Thank you to the whole team at The Sussex for us all so welcome!

We visited this pub today. The staff was very friendly, polite and efficient. We had a squid as a starter it was great. We had a fish and chips as a main course. It was perfect! I would highly recommend this place. Thank you for this nice meal.

Have to say this was one of the best pub meals I’ve had in ages, everything was piping hot, even the coffee. Reasonable prices. Great staff, extremely helpful. Will definitely be going back next time I’m in Brighton.

We both had scampi and chips, terrible we both had about 6 pieces of so called scampi, more coating than fish, will never ever go back again, it was my partners birthday and it didn't go down very well

Once again an excellent visit to the Sussex Arms in Brighton. We come to Brighton every year and always visit the Sussex Arms on more than one occasion each time. This time was again a really pleasant visit. The food was excellent (chef George) and the service from Georgia and Dean also excellent. Sitting at a window table drinking and eating is one of our favourite places to be in Brighton. We also visited during the evening for drinks and this time sat outside to pleasantly take in the square. Excellent.

I placed the order for our food and was told there was a 40 minute wait, which in normal circumstances would be totally acceptable on a busy bank holiday weekend. However, my partner who is diabetic, wasn’t feeling well. When I mentioned this, Katerina made sure that our order was prioritised and checked with us later, to see if he was ok. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The food was very good too!

Went for a few drinks with friends, served quickly. Decent range of cask ales available & friendly staff. Will definitely be back

My wife and I arranged to meet friends from Surrey at The Sussex Arms yesterday (13 August 2023) as it's usually nice to sit outside and listen to the music on Sunday lunchtimes. Last week, I'd looked in to make sure they had some decent beers available - Greene King IPA, Greene King Abbot Ale and St Austell Brewery's Tribute Ale were on, so I went ahead and arranged the meet for Sunday. Come the day there was no band playing music outside (not the pub's fault, I agree) but then I found that the only beer they had was the GK IPA, the other two beers would not be available "for a few days"! I bought a round and we sat in the sun, trying to enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately GK's IPA is not our favourite beer, however. My friend went to buy a second round and the IPA had already finished - it was only about 1:00pm on a Sunday! What kind of pub, in the very centre of Brighton, runs out of beer of a Sunday lunchtime? The fact that I'd recommended the place as a nice meeting venue was embarrassing, to say the least, so needless to say, we won't be going back again, ever.

We always visit this pub when we visit Brighton. It's nice to be able to have the choice (weather permitting) to be able to sit inside or out. On this occasion the weather was poor so we were seated inside. However, the staff were friendly and efficient. We were served by Georgia and Dom and were well looked after. The meals cooked by George were excellent and it was good to get a proper pie (pastry top, bottom and sides) rather than a puff pastry cap. Well done to all three who worked well as a team. We will definitely be back.

Well… where to start… Popped into the Sussex Arms with my parents yesterday, as they’d been there before a few years ago and highly recommended it. Ordered some drinks and food - the lady behind the bar was very nice, and did warn us that it’d be a bit slow today. Not a problem, we thought, as the food would make up for it. During our 40-minute wait, we noticed how tired the pub looks. Chairs that have the padding ripped, leather upholstery which has split and showing the stuffing. Toilets which are absolutely filthy around the sinks. Well, at least the food will make up for it. When the food arrived at last, it was almost inedible. I’m not a complainer generally, but BBQ chicken was served in a sauce which was completely congealed, and hung off a fork like a stalactite. Both ends of the tiny chicken fillet were so rock solid that I couldn’t cut through them; it tasted as if it had been microwaved, and then put on a hot plate for much too long. Chips which fell apart when you tried to fork them. Meal two: a chicken and bacon sandwich which contained no bacon, and a couple of small slivers of chicken, the size of which was comparable to a flaky cat food. So basically a coleslaw sandwich, in very dry bread. Meal three: a pie which my dad described as “edible”, accompanied by those weird collapsing chips. Though he’s woken up today with an upset stomach, so perhaps not so edible. The nice lady behind the bar asked us if our meal was okay, and to be honest, we were too embarrassed to make a scene in front of the other customers. But we left the moment we’d put our defeated knives and forks down. Like I said, I’m not a complainer; I don’t generally leave reviews unless it’s for something positive. I have had many an underwhelming meal, and just written it off as one of those things. But this was just unforgivably bad, and we felt like we’d been mugged. Maybe it was just a bad day, given that other reviewers have been positive, but be warned that it was genuinely terrible on this day. Management: please don’t offer me the chance to come back and try your food again, because I really don’t want to.

Wow wow wow sometimes you get such good service you think wow they went out all stops to give me and my mum best birthday lunch vicki is absolutely adorable sweeet kind friend a star mum wanted sausages it’s her favourite and not on the menu but George who I asked the name made her sausages mash her favourite it made her day Thankyou then he held on for his break and waited for us to order dessert very sweetly out a flag happy birthday. Vicky george made our day as always so special there always so cheerful we go in frequently and always the best service keep it up Thankyou .❤️❤️❤️

Smallest female toilet cubicle in the world...I nearly got stuck! Seriously take out one loo and make the other bigger! Male toilet....apparently had urine all on the floor.. Sort it out..basic needs

The best pub in Brighton. Came across it and Amy and staff so welcoming. The best pint of Guinness I’ve ever had and the most wonderful food. What a great place. It’s a must on any visit to Brighton. We will be back. Thanks Amy and team x Sarah and Steve xx

Got to Brighton just before October lock down stayed at the Grand hotel, on the Sunday looking for a Sunday Roast, phoned a few places pubs/restaurants but either booked or last orders at 15:00. Ventured down to the Sussex for a few drinks and sitting outside the pub noticed on the board said Sunday roast, so asked about it and served till they run out so booked our table for the roast at 19:00 and surprised by the amount of food on the plate potatoes done perfect crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside loads of beef on the plate and plenty of veg, and good value for the amount of food. You have to check in on the pub website if your going to sit in the pub. You could only use table service but nothing new. Great pub with location just at the end of the lanes.

We had a lovely meal at The Sussex Arms om Sunday night as a family of four. Even our normally fussy 5-year old ate all his food. We chose this pub after my husband and I went to Brighton just the two of us in the Summer for drinks here. We really enjoyed it and felt safe as, on both occasions, all the current rules were in place.

Gross. Continually serving parties well into the double figures filling their venue with idiots drinking pints and not even attempting to order significant meals. Wanted to dine but couldn’t get past the 15+ family party outside coughing all over their pints and wines, way above what would be considered proportionate to their meals.It’s places like this which is why we’re all still in the mess this Christmas. Do your bit Greene King or have blood on your hands. Want to kill your Nan this Christmas? Make sure you stop here first. Ended up going to a neighbouring restaurant instead who are strictly adhering to the guidelines and actually care, how refreshing.

Visité con cinco amigos el 9 de octubre. Servicio perfecto además de medidas muy seguras, presentado por un equipo de primera. También usé mis cupones con éxito. Gracias tanto al personal del bar como al personal de la cocina por cuidarnos, volveremos pronto siempre que Boris no cierre los pubs nuevamente :)

Visité este lugar hace años, pero reservé para encontrarnos con amigos aquí una noche, lo disfrutamos tanto que fuimos de nuevo. El sistema de reserva online era sencillo y el personal era muy amable y acogedor.El menú es pequeño pero muy agradable y el pollo, patatas fritas y salsa de curry que tuve en ambas ocasiones estaba delicioso. Las bebidas y el servicio fueron excelentes y no dudaría en volver a visitar aquí.El único inconveniente es que los baños tenían un olor a humedad, pero por lo demás estaban muy limpios y también se ofrece gel para las manos.Se encuentra en una ubicación fácil de encontrar junto a las calles y a pocos pasos de la playa.

Visitamos este pub increíble mientras estábamos en Brighton durante un fin de semana largo y de principio a fin quedamos muy impresionados.Con las restricciones de Covid en su lugar, Emily, que estoy seguro de que el gerente explicó todas las restricciones actuales que se establecieron en el pub.Ell nuestra camarera fue muy servicial ya que estábamos indecisos sobre qué ginebras y nos dijo lo que tenía.Pedimos un partidor que era suficiente para 2 personas y cocinaba bien.Trabajando en el sector de la hostelería, el equipo de este pub tiene razón. We had a lovely evening at The Sussex. It was extremely well organised re Covid-19 protocols and we felt very safe. There was well spaced out seating both inside and out. The staff were so helpful a a nd friendly. We would definitely recommend.

Pasando unos días en Brighton para unas vacaciones en casa y me encontré con este pub ayer porque era muy pintoresco. Personal encantador y amable, vino delicioso. Fueron diligentes a la hora de tomar los datos de contacto y la limpieza, pero de una manera encantadora y discreta, lo que hizo que nuestra visita fuera aún más agradable.Fue tan agradable que visitamos nuevamente hoy para tomar una copa después del almuerzo y el encantador anfitrión nos reconoció y tuvo una muy buena charla con él.¡Esperamos la próxima visita!

A lovely pub lunch. Felt really safe and reassured by friendly staff and full explanation of all the rules to cope with the Covid-19 worries.Speedy cleaning of tables in between visitors. Also one way system with separate entrance and exit to limit contact. Beautifully presented Pimm’s in an unusual glass. Tasty food- sharing chicken platter was adjusted for me as I don’t like wings. Highly recommended.

Nice pub, with lovely outdoors area, good cider on tap, still retaining the soul that has been evaporated out of many pubs by chain ownership. They sure take COVID seriously here, probably more than everywhere else in Brighton that I have seen today. Bravo!

Haven’t visited a restaurant for quite a while so was really looking forward to a decent Sunday roast and they didn’t disappoint. We booked table over the phone to make sure they were doing a roast. Lady was very helpful. Once we arrived we were told the new procedures, out table was clean and ready. We felt safe and were happy to stay. I had the roast beef and hubby had a burger. The roast was lovely, fresh vegetables, yummy potatoes and four generous slices of beef. It was lovely. Hubby burger with bacon and cheese was really good. We used the app to order which was easy to do. Will definitely visit again when back in lovely Brighton.

First visits back since reopening. We booked our table in advance using The Greene King order &pay. When we arrive we was treated at the door where all their pub safe measure was explained. We was then taken to our table. Ordered all our food and drinks through the app. Which was really easy to use. Everything was great and pub felt really COVID safe in a warm and friendly environment. Can’t wait to return when we are next in Brighton.

We visited here late Sunday afternoon for a meal before going to a concert. Lovely friendly staff and the food was lovely. Very small inside, but luckily we had booked a table. The desserts were delicious too. Would definitely recommend.

We stumbled across this bar when on a weekend away and what a great find this was. Entered the busy establishment and was greeted by friendly bar staff. The music was great and varied. 80’s, 90’s and up to date ! Something for everyone ! Absolutely fab atmosphere!

I dont expect fresh home cooking from a pub but I do expect my food to be decent. I ordered steak and kidney pudding with mash poatoes and veg. The pastry and veg were ok but the mash was stodgy and dry and most of the meat in the pie contained gristle and hardly any kidney. I was asked by bar person if everything was ok but this was before I had tried the pudding and mash. I left most of the pudding and mash and was not asked if there was anything wrong when the plate was removed later.The toilets were very cramped .

Come to Brighton for a couples night away and cameInto The Sussex Arms. We were served by Emily who was extremely helpful and knowledgable on the drinks on offer. She couldn’t have done more for us and is a lovely woman! She made our night :)

Visited on holiday last summer and again recently - great 'proper' pub. Bar staff excellent - sorry to see Simon from last summer was absent but Anthony passed with flying colours! Keep it up - we need pubs like this more than ever.

Nos tomamos un tiempo para debatir qué pedir, ya que todo se veía bien, pero nos decidimos por la fuente favorita y el gran pescado y patatas fritas. Craig nos ayudó a decidir sobre un postre y rápidamente ordenó nuestro pedido para nosotros.Para una visita informal a un pub que no es nuestro local, quedamos realmente impresionados y Craig y Emily nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Definitivamente regresaremos cuando estemos en Brighton.

We visited Brighton on Sunday and the wife suggested we go for lunch at the sussex arms as we have been there before and enjoyed the food .The cod and chips has been spot on so we went for it again BIG Mistake the fish batter was dark and oily the fish was not white and flaky and I'm not sure if it was actually cod £23 wasted I think the fish had been cooked once and reheated I wish I hadn't paid cash up front we won't be back.

Popped into this lovely pub as it appeared to have a vibrant atmosphere. Was not disappointed as friendly bar person, Emily, served us a favourites platter to go with our pimms and beer. My pimms, made by barman Simon, was excellent -stacked full of fruit and topped with mint, served in a beautiful glass. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. Happy, buzzing place - we will be back.

Having been in town a couple of weeks and been here on prior visits, it’s a pub I always return to. Staff are friendly, food is good value and great quality and you’ve got the option of sitting outside if it’s not raining or freezing. Strike up a chat with a local.

We spent the weekend in Brighton with friends for our University reunion and needed to find somewhere to watch the Rugby World Cup. Most of the pubs weren’t showing any rugby but we found the Sussex and it’s big screen! Breakfast was excellent and the pub has a great selection of beers. However the most impressive thing about this pub is the staff. Steve & Elle were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for these two. We watched the England game on Saturday. They weren’t planning to open up for the Wales game on Sunday but they agreed to because they knew we hade a welsh contingent in our party. Just fantastic hosts and they even arranged a win for Wales. Thank you Steve & Elle.

We were having a great time in Brighton and decided to pop in to the Sussex Arms for a drink and some food. All was going fine with the service from the staff being professional and friendly, food ok although not much on a plate for the price you pay.

I had a business trip recently and popped into the Sussex arms, spent a few hours there had some food and a couple of pints, must say the burger I had ( salted beef burger ) was incredible I definitely recommend, the staff were lovely and friendly and very easy to get along with making me feel very welcomed, I highly recommend this pub for a place to eat or have a few drinks

The Sussex Arms is a clean and friendly pub in the heart of Brighton's south Laines. Staff are friendly, food is reasonably priced and there are tv's for sport fans. My Dad's favourite spot to wait for Mum to complete her shopping

Came in here for a quick bite to eat and a drink, and we were very impressed by the staff!

On a recent short break to Brighton, this was the first pub we went in and we returned a couple more times as we found it very pleasant, good range of beer at reasonable prices, what is not to like. It was too cold for us to sit outside but I am sure in warmer months, it would be great. We did look at the menu but did not eat but only because we were not hungry, food looked very good and sensible prices. Maybe next time...

Visited for a drink with family. The staff were friendly and the choice of drink was good. Did not eat but the food looked very good.

First visit in nigh on thirty years. It's cleaner than it was, polite staff, fair range of beer. Menu is ok, looks like a Berni inn menu really. However, I was very impressed with the fish and chips, not swimming in fat, but clean tasting and a generous portion. Not a bad place to watch sporting events, a huge screen sits over the West facing window and picture quality very good. Of the hundreds of pubs in Brighton this one is a safe bet.

This is one of our local pubs, have not been for Sunday lunch in a while. It was always a small portion but tasty, just left and what a disappointing meal. Went for the mor expensive chicken and roast beef lunch, when it arrived it looked like a plate of aunt Bessie’s food. Yes you guessed it, tasteless no fresh veg, peas and carrots, dry chicken pre sliced beef, not even the fat had any taste. Poor watery gravy, had to ask for some more as the stuffing and the Yorkshire was rock hard. Thick gravy arrived ah granulated Bisto, dissapioted, will still go back for the drinks and atmosphere but will avoid the food.

I visited the Sussex arms yesterday afternoon with my wife and daughter's.

Haven’t eaten here, but drinks prices are very good compared to other places in Brighton. Friendly service, although quite slow.

Dropped in for mulled cider, a beer and some pub food. Serves are generous and food is good standard....you may have to vie for a table after about 4:30pm. It can get quite crowded. Loved it.

7 of us met up for lunch, staff friendly, service prompt. A lot of items were not available on the menu but overall not bad. I had scampi, friends had steak,although only rump available on the day we visited.

Went to this pub for a quick lunch and drink and thought the warm welcome from Elle on the bar was great. After my meal arrived which was good, Steve also came over for a friendly chat which was also great as it alleviating the awkwardness of being there solo. Would definitely recommend, seems the staff have got the place working perfectly.

I popped in here on a whim, and to my surprise I was greeted by a lovely gentleman named Steve. He took a moment to say Hello and have a brief conversation with me while pouring our drinks.

Stopped here for a liquid lunch and had a great afternoon here returned the next evening for a pint ,nice cosy pub with very nice staff , will return when we visit Brighton again .

Great atmosphere, the manager Steve was friendly and provided a great timely service. Would definitely recommend for a drink in between shopping and for an evening meal.
