Sushi Passion in Birmingham

Went last night. Restaurant is well decorated with a great ambience. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Ingredients are all fresh and put together expertly. Food arrived quickly.

The food was amazing and so was the service. Sophia was really kind and welcoming to us. Definitely will be coming back again!

First class Japanese restaurant with excellent service and delicious fresh fish sushi. Flavours seemed to compliment each other delicately. Reasonable prices for the quality.

I tried Sushi Passion for the first time without any expectations, but it was simply awesome! The atmosphere made me feel like I was in Japan, with its beautiful and authentic decor. I had the roasted salmon recommended by Head Chef Kamal, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked with incredible flavors. But what stood out the most was Chef Kamal himself—his way of speaking was so gentle and respectful, making the whole dining experience even more special. Highly recommend this place for sushi lovers! Definitely coming back.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Passion in Birmingham, and it was an experience to remember. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we indulged in a variety of dishes, each showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to authentic Japanese cuisine. We began with a seaweed salad and edamame, both fresh and flavourful. The Dragon Roll was a standout, a delightful combination of textures and tastes. The highlight was the Ronin Set, which included an exquisite selection of sashimi. We also ordered beef sashimi as an extra, and it did not disappoint—rich and tender, it melted in the mouth. To conclude our meal, we enjoyed the homemade yuzu ice cream, which provided a refreshing and citrusy finish. Without a doubt, this was some of the best food we’ve ever had. The quality of the ingredients, the skill in preparation, and the authentic Japanese flavours make Sushi Passion a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts in Birmingham. Highly recommended!

This was a random find for me and my girlfriend, it was a lovely place with lovely decor. The food was 10/10 we got a sharing platter and it was all lovely. Very impressed. I had to order more from the menu out of Curiosity And overall really enjoyed our time in the restaurant. Lovely staff- Sofia was fab!

The sushi is fresh no doubt. The prawn tempura was dry and over cooked, the batter wasn’t light but thick. The dragon roll and the shift shell crab was very disappointing. Wouldn’t come back. Let’s the art is Japanese food down. Maybe this is verging on cultural exploitation

Went there for my dads birthday, the food was so good, the staff were really nice and really nice music in the background but we were some of the only people there so that is the only problem. But the staff were really nice and the food was mmmmm delicious 5/5 would go back

Food was excellent - Samurai rolls (salmon and tuna), takoyaki, chicken and veg gyoza, seaweed salad Food arrived quickly as well. Service was impeccable, and they accommodated our large group on short notice.

On the pricey side, but great atmosphere and the sushi itself was great.

Nice sushi restaurant. Good quality as well as the venue. The restaurant has an open plan connected to the kitchen and two chefs cook/prep the food by the table(I personally like this way). Waiters really professional and polite. I would definitely recommend it.

Disappointing. Waitress got one of our dishes wrong by mixing up with an item with the same name but we physically showed her the one we had ordered-eventually they took it and redid pretty quickly. Then had a dish missing so after we’d finished eating we asked if it was still yet to come, to be told by staff it had already come… no it didn’t, why else would I ask? Had a few funny looks from the tall lad delivering dishes to tables as if I’m gonna lie about it? - not appreciated! The dish was ready suspiciously fast once we asked.. Sushi is great but the restaurant is packed full like a sardine can. Not impressed by the waiting staff especially for the price- at £180 for 4 people I’d expect far better service.

Delicious sushis, highly recomended

Our first experience of a Japanese restaurant and it certainly didn't disappoint! The food was delicious, and our server, Ruby was very knowledgeable and friendly. Our teenage boys really enjoyed the experience of the zashiki seating too. It was my husband's birthday, and they brought out some homemade passion fruit ice cream with a candle for him. We had a fab time, and would definitely recommend!

Excellent service from the moment we walked in. We hadn't booked beforehand but luckily there was room, we sat on the floor to follow tradition and browsed through the menu. We had drinks, sushi rolls and tempura vegetables which was all beautifully presented. Food and drink tasted great would definitely recommend 100%

Honestly one of the best sushi experiences I have had. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully set up with authentic Japanese decoration. The atmosphere is great. I sat at the bar and spoke with the chefs. Head Chef Kamal and Chef Madhu were both extremely knowledgeable and friendly and served me a platter of their recommendations, all of which are extremely delicious! I found this place early last year and went in with my mom and my sister and the food was so fresh and delicious!! Went again today and it was just as good and the food and service was amazing !!! the lady in there is so polite and welcoming plus the service is so nice and quick !! this place is so authentic and is definitely my favourite place to go !! The lightning and music in there is makes it really comforting as well !! Would 100000% recommend this place for anyone !! Also to mention my mom mentioned to the lady that it was my birthday earlier that month and she came out with this AMAZING SCRUMDIDLIUMCIOUS homemade icecream that was to die for !!!! And she gave it for free which was really nice of her also🥹🥹🥹 Thank you so so much again and GO EAT HERE GUYS!!!!!

Sushi Passion is, without a doubt, the best place for authentic sushi! The quality is incredible—everything is so fresh, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. You can really tell how much care and skill goes into every bite. The chef is amazingly talented, and on top of that, so kind and approachable—it adds such a personal touch to the experience. The hostesses are wonderful too—so welcoming, professional, and genuinely lovely. From the moment you walk in, you feel completely taken care of.

There's a lovely calm comes over you when you step into this restaurant. There are traditional and western style tables to sit at, the food was wonderful,, you can watch it being prepared. Would definitely return.

Great to have a birthday dinner here

Came here today 04/01/2025 for my birthday lunch with my husband and two children. One is aged 3 and the other is 13. We arrived for the opening at 12pm but I had booked for 12.30pm and they were able to accommodate us no problem. Our waitress (Ruby) was the loveliest! Really brightened up my day. She was friendly, attentive and just generally a nice person. We ordered a mix of sushi including the Traditonal set which included the miso soup. Now normally I’m not keen on miso soup due to it tasting sour or stale but this soup was incredible and nothing like anything I’ve tasted before. I will now only have it from top end restaurants like this one. My husband ordered the Geisha set for my 13 year old and himself and there was plenty to around. We ordered plain rice and chicken gyoza for us and our 3 year old and he loved it! Always difficult to get him to try new things but he really enjoyed it. At the end of our meal, the Chef surprised me with a traditional Japanese ‘lemon’ esque ice cream with a candle as it was my birthday and it was delicious. A really nice touch thank you. The atmosphere was beautiful, dimmed lighting which enhanced the surroundings and the option to sit at a traditional Japanese table setting which we will take advantage of the next time. Everything was perfectly laid out, I can’t think of any detail that wasn’t already catered for. The Chef was courteous and friendly and came over a couple of times to see how we liked the food etc. Would highly recommend for any occasion and thank you to all the staff especially to Ruby so taking such good care of us.

Had to wait 15 mins for table even with reservation. An additional 30 mins just to get a drink. Food was ok when we finally got it, had to ask repeatedly for wasabi and ginger, even for a table of 5 they gave us a tiny serving. Second time we’ve been but wouldn’t go again.

Wow! This place never fails to serve the best sushi in Birmingham. It is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had a selection of sushi and hot food to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The head chef Kamal is chatty and charming and clearly knows what he's doing. We love it here and highly recommended it it to sushi lovers!

I tried sushi for the first time, I honestly didn't like it much but my family liked it a lot, they said it was the best sushi they had ever eaten. The place was beautiful and the background music was pleasant.

We booked in advance as and were shown to our table for two on arrival. My meal arrived 25 minutes before my wife's and following this wait, I had to ask where it was so we could eat at the same time. Some items were not on the menu. When I asked for Eel because the octopus was out of stock, this was refused due to Eel being more expensive. This was one piece of sushi on rice as art of the "Traditional Set". I had to choose something cheaper so chose Mackerel. It is a minor point but this is not cheap food. Eating at Sushi Passion has for us been a special treat for us. However, today was not quite as good as it should have been due to the service delays and omissions.

Food was delicious, fish was really fresh and flavourful. Service was excellent and they catered well to my gluten intolerance as they had a separate menu.
