You’ve done a lot better in the past. I hope this is a blip, I fear not looking at other reviews. I’m afraid I. On this occasion the fish and chips were tasteless. So much so I thought there was something wrong with me, like covid. I ate something else straight away and my taste is fine. The chips had no taste and the fish tiny with not much taste either. Disappointed.

Poor chips tonight, they were fairly burnt and dry. Very disappointing, it used to be good a while ago. Won't be going back...

All food is cooked to order, so it may be a little longer than most fish and chips, but worth the wait.

Great food and service will definitely be going back and will tell friends to dine in.

Ordered a meal on-line for ease of collection. One large cod plus cod and chips for approx £18. Timed for 19.15 collection. I arrived to collect about !9.20 so I was marginally late! Meal was packaged and sitting in the back of the frying area so no chance to check it or confirm the 'Salt and/or vinegar ?'- not offered. Got it home 5 mins away. My large cod was definitely overcooked and as a result not of a size i recall from 3 mths ago and pretty horrible dark batter. Chips similar though the second cod was passable. All in all very disapponting for my daughter's specially requested meal on her last night in UK (from Japan). I won't make the mistake of slogging through the on-line ordering procedure again. Instead I will make sure I see what ! am being sent home with!! Standards seem to be falling but certainly not prices!

27 of us went for lunch, did not have to wait for long to get food.great food and puddings, so nice to have a drink as well (beer and prosecco). The staff were very polite which was lovely. only thing I would change would be the prawns that are put on the table, bit chewy and like most people i will not peel them my self .would definitely go back

We have dined here before on several occasions. However our latest visit we regrettably have to report to say it has deteriorated Food and standards have dropped. As with most Fish and Chips Shops prices have risen considerably and it is no longer a more budget type meal.

I was focused on my conversation. The restaurant and it's people were Very good.

Have eaten here for years and lately seems to have gone down. The flavour is there but the fish batter and chips is burnt and many of the chips are either too hard to eat or are not cooked through evenly. Really poor fare. So disappointed!!

The food is vile worst chippy in the area don’t waste you time the food is so dark they definitely don’t change there oil in the fryers

Really don’t like leaving negative reviews but I have to say I gave them a second chance tonight and ordered a battered sausage chips and curry sauce, chips were hard/burnt and tasteless :( and the sausage was overcooked. Staff behind the counter were very lovely though.

Great tasting chips - must be how they fry them. Always bustling. Above average for sure and friendly helpful young staff.

The service was excellent and all the meals ordered were declared to be first class, with generous portions. A most enjoyable time and highly recommended.

First time here got a savlo and chips the savlo look didn't seem right as when he took it out of the metal caniter and chips was hard a bullets I will not be going back there

Just had the worst meal from Superfish! Ordered scampi, chips and battered sausages …Scampi was just lumps of overdone batter and non existent scampi, very disappointed as had to wait quite a while for the order , sausages had a very unpleasant taste, have thrown most of it away, not up to their usual standard sadly

Disappointed. For over £10 per head and such good reviews I expected better. Fish and chips all overcooked, fish was pretty much all batter and skin very little fish, and chips were dark and crunchy and tasteless. Won’t be coming back.

It's probably the best Fish n'chips in the area.

Have been buying fish & chips from Superfish for many years but in the last few months the quality of the food has deteriorated badly. As others have said, thin fillets of fish, chips that resemble remains from previous cooking and the taste indicates the frying oil needs changing. High prices too! We will not be returning

Went there for a lunch this week, we’re so surprised with the manner of the waiter! He was packing the very basic of communication, rough, looks fed up with what he was doing. He was just like not serving us but through the plate and food on the table . No please or thank you at all. Even heard other couple sitting next to us complaining about his manner.

The food was delicious and fast to come out . complementry prawns and bread were yummy.

Bought their chips and they seem like they were not freshly made!!

Thank You to the staff at Superfish for accommodating our group of 37 to celebrate together with a fish & chip lunch. We loved the extra trimmings of pickles, prawns, warm bread & butter. The food and service was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion

Ordered large cod and chips for 4 people. Cod was very good but chips were slightly soggy on this occasion

Lovely food lovely restaurant and friendly staff could not of had a better meal , and loved the extras prawns wipes and hot bread and pickles. Very impressed

First time and I must say what a lovely meal it was ,cod and chips was very tasty ,for 3 people it wasn’t expensive . customer service was excellent , place was very clean definitely recommend and will visit again.

proper fish and chips , fried the traditional way. much healthier and tastier than what you normally get elsewhere. Fried in beef tallow, a natural product is much healthier than toxic seed oils. Bravo, one business that still does things the proper way 👏

Total disappointment greasy tiny bits of chips The fish Looked overdone but I know it was cooked very quickly .it was in fact cooked in OLD OIL No excuse also large cod was pathetic size .never again .I use a fish shop further away far superior!!!

Can't fault the service or the food. We had the lunch time special, good value including bread and butter, prawns as appetiser, pot of tea and small cod and chips, all for £9.95. Excellent quality, plus quick and friendly service. Fully deserving of 5 stars.

This place used to serve good quality fish & chips but no longer so. Over a period of time have noticed the quality and presentation of food worsen but tonight’s take out had the worst chips I’ve ever been served anywhere. Under the fish there was a heap of burnt, small pieces of stuff which I’m assuming was chips!! NEVER BUYING HERE AGAIN…. Score 0/10 👎👎👎👎👎👎

I really like the restaurant very much and go for a cuppa, large cod and chips and mushy peas. Always good and always welcoming.

I picked up a take out of cod chips and mushy peas on Friday evening, but when I got it home and unwrapped it, it was the worst fish and chips I've ever seen. Not only did it smell my house out with a burnt oily smell, the batter was dark brown and burnt and the chips were totally overcooked. I've had meals from here before which have been ok, but this was awful. They can't have changed the oil for ages and the fish itself was cooked within an inch of its life instead of firm and flaky. It resembles nothing like the lightly cooked batter on their website. I don't like posting bad reviews but this was being the pale. I don't know whether they are cutting corners as a result of rising costs, but this is the quickest way of driving customers elsewhere. Therefore I can't recommend.

Been going here for years. Always friendly welcome. Usually good food. Went yesterday had two large cod and large chips. The fish was quite long but definitely not a large. Was very thin and lots of batter. Had more meat on smaller cod from other places. The rest of chips was useless. About a quarter were chips with soft potato. The other three quarters were hard, thin tooth breaking “chips” had to bin em. For £18 odd quid I feel ripped off. Will think hard before going there again.

Can't fault it for what it is. But the staff and service make up for what you pay.

Easy to order online and even turned up 25 minutes before my collection time and they cooked my order early, thank you. Always tastes great, quick friendly service.

This has gone downhill the oil was dirty and the batter was dark brown .was charged for three glasses of wine and only had two. Another table co.plained about the portion as he order large cod but was given small. I liked this fish shop in the past but it has gone down .they need to improve or start to see a loss of customer's

Good quality fish and chips on 70% of our visits. Generous size portions but on occasions the chips aren't as fresh as at other times.

Awful over cooked fish , batter was brown and burnt tasting . Fish portion was tiny , everything greasy including soggy horrible chips

Previously we had ordered takeaways from this restaurant, which was excellent. Limited amount of free parking close by. Their kitchen was spotless. We all ordered small cod and chips, which was excellent. The restaurant was fairly busy. Worth another visit.

Very disappointing. Fish very overcooked - batter thin, very dark brown, hard and tasted burned. Was a large cod apparently, but wasn't very big. Chips greasy and so soggy that a lot of them had been mushed into a lump by the time I got them home. Mushy peas were edible. Sorry for unfavorable review but these fish & chips were not good

sadly wont be back here for a while. family of four have cod and chips most saturdays. keep giving the benefit large cod seems to getting smaller and smaller .last night unfortunately the final straw chips were burnt and the fish overcooked and not much bigger than a fish finger. sadly time to try somewhere else...

Decided to pick up some fish n chips an route to in-laws in Leatherhead. Did same years back and was good but tonight chips were definitely not the best. Fish was nice however. Maybe one off and hopefully next time will be fine.

I just had a portion of chips that were beautiful tasting traditionally cooked in dripping tasting like they was cooked at seaside 50 years ago. Going back this weekend this weekend to have a fish supper hope that its worth it cant wait.

This truly was the worst cod and chips I've ever eaten. The chips were chewy and tasted slightly burned . The fish tasted very fishy and was over cooked. I'm not a fussy eater but I honestly could not stomach this and put it out for the fox. The staff seem like they are doing this as an evening job and really don't care. I will go back and try again in a few weeks as I can't believe all the good reviews when my food was truly inedible.

We phoned ahead but they only started the order when we arrived and paid, then we arrived home without any chips to go with the combo that we paid for so we had to return again and then eat cold food. Very unimpressed with our first visit unfortunately.

Had saveloy and chips and it was just bang average. Chips weren’t very tasty and the saveloy was just okay. Won’t come back!

Four of us had a selection of huss/rock salmon and cod. All the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The house wine was very good too and the french bread was lovely and fresh. A great place to meet for an early evening meal at reasonable prices.

My small cod was more like a fish finger and so overpriced Blue Marlin in lower Ashtead is far superior and No i don't work there. I think SuperFish have got a little complacent and need to up their game

I hadn't had a takeaway since lockdown & decided I would try my local superfish in Ashtead as always had a decent meal before. I ordered on line & paid for upfront though I downsized our fish as couldn't believe have much the cost had gone up. I arrived at the allocated time given but it seemed to be a free for all. Motor bike delivery guys outside as well. When I finally got inside & gave them my ref number they looked blank & said what did you order ?? I was told to wait in the restaurant to the side with about 10 other people. Not happy as I waited another 10 mins, they obviously had not cooked my order. The cooks also were NOT wearing any face coverings,I did not feel safe . Not only waiting but eating the end result which I must say was not up to their normal quality. Overpriced & not tasty food. I'll be staying away now & cooking myown

Had a takeaway this lunch time,I have been into eat many times,but today the fish was dry and I felt it had been warmed up from last night with hardly any fish inside.

Prior to March I used to get fish and chips from Superfish regularly over many years and it was excellent.Yesterday I had my first takeaway since the closedown and it was very poor. The piece of cod was thin and the batter was thick and dark brown instead of light and golden. I wonder has the fish supplier changed or the frying staff changed. I will try it again soon and if it has not improved I will go elsewhere.Very sad.

Chips Always awful fish lottery, obviously any port in a storm but please improve your bull buy frozen chips

Every time visiting, whether collecting or sitting in, I am delighted with the lovely friendly service and the food is superb. The fish are always fresh and sweet tasting - never stale in my experience. If I ask for a very little batter, they are happy to oblige. Great value! STRONGLY recommended.

We regularly use this local chippy and superfish have never failed to disappoint. They're fast, reasonably priced and exactly what you want in fish and chips. They are also very accommodating if you want fresh fish or less batter, you only have to ask and they'll do it for you. There's also a sizable restaurant to enjoy your food in serving wine and beer. Great chippy!
