Authentic and more importantly, tasty as well. Really nice seating area/toilets/location. Even though it’s a tad expensive I’d say it’s well worth the cost, as far as I’m aware there are no other decent northern Chinese style places nearby. Worth the price for a hearty bowl of noodles or a bento lunchbox style takeaway.

I love their food, it tastes so good, if you are Nigerian and looking for a similar taste of food and you don’t know what to get, get the beef fried rice or any of their rice. Tastes so yummy with their sauce or you take it home and use your sauce

Great place just next to the station, really recommend if you have the time before a train. Service is quick and friendly and the food is fantastic with large portion sizes! Recommend the chongquin noodles if you enjoy spicy food and the noodle soup if not.

Mother and son lunch at his favourite place in the neighbourhood - canteen-style Chinese restaurant tucked away at the side of the local rail station. The ambience is functional but calm and spotlessly clean. Large portions at low prices. Spicy beef noodle soup is my son's regular order. The prepared dishes in the glass case included braised duck, braised fish, beef brisket and meatballs. I went for meatballs (£5.20 for two large meatballs) and plain rice (£3.00). Son had his spicy beef noodle soup for £9.80. Pork meatballs were quite large but with a light texture and hint of fresh ginger. Came in a small amount of light broth that tasted of 5 spice. I added chilli oil to the rice. Each table has dispensers of chilli oil, soy sauce and black vinegar. Service is friendly but basic - you order and pay at the counter and they give you a beeper that goes off when your order is ready to collect at the counter. Highly recommend this place.

The smell brought me back to a Chinese canteen in Ningbo, so I felt at home straight away. The spicy soy braised noodle soup was so so good (especially the numbing spice) and their shredded potato was just what I needed for some comforting flavours. Their soup noodles also come with such a large amount of broth it was great and the noodles were super super long as per tradition. Their beef udon noodles was also very yummy. I will be coming back!! Lovely place

Brilliant place. Very authentic feel, hugely flavourful dishes - the mapo dofu was fiery and delicious, the braised beef brisket rich and unctuous. Big portions. Sparklingly clean. Fantastic value. Wish I lived more locally.

Not authentic, it’s just a glorified takeaway. The portions are big and the food looked great when it came, but we were seriously dissapointed. We ate most of it because we were just starving but feel so full (in a bad way) after these noodles of questionable quality. Very bland and flavourless, vegetables and onion didn’t taste fresh, and we feel like the black bean sauce probably came out of a jar. No flavour, we had to add a ton of chilli oil.

Intrigued by the signage outside, I entered Sun’s Noodle Bar, to be greeted by a clean and inviting atmosphere. The menu boasted a wide selection of mouthwatering dishes, perfect for a quick lunch. Opting for the bento set, I indulged in a chicken, fish, and mapo tofu, all heaped generously on the plate. Despite the quick service, the food was fresh, warm and excellent value for money! The noodle bowls looked scrumptious too! Every bite was packed with flavour , and kept us wanting more!!! A must visit if you’re a fan of Sichuan food and in the Portsmouth area

Beef brisket was amazing, I will need to come back. Loved it, as well as the brisket in soybeans sauce, pork juicy balls, beef szechuan style. Although other stuff was not good, rice was old and dry, some dishes were just missing from the menu. My suggestion is to go at lunch time during the weekend, as food is fresher, rather than week days at night.

Really really bad. The spicy beef noodles I ordered and it was worse. Too much of coriander in the noodles and taste awful. When I asked the guy in the counter to replace with new one, he told he spoke with the manager and he said can’t be replaced. The taste was worse. I won’t recommend anyone to go in there. NEVER EVER GOING IN THERE AGAIN EVERRRRRRRRRRR

I came here when it first opened, and it was the best food I ever had to the point I became obsessed, and every date night I dragged my partner there like clockwork every month. The food was gradually going down in quality since my original post, but I just assumed maybe someone was having a bad day, or the chef had changed and needed more training, or you know economic crisis, but I just waited hoping it would get better, but it didn't. Then it closed for a bit, and I was incredibly sad. Of course the moment it opened up again I was back in at the first opportunity. And the food is now not even worth it. I went today on my lunch break and didn't even eat 1/10 of the bowl. I always get exactly the same thing, mildly obsessive, I know, and I didn't really touch it, the pork was mostly far, and tastes old, more of a chicken broth with little flavor, ans almost no soya, (Soya Braised Pork Noodle Soup) it was my favourite. Now I don't think I can go back, it was so good, and I miss it. I mean the service itself is still great, and everyone is polite but I'm just so disappointed 😞 I get that we are in a economic crisis but frankly I would have happily paid the same price, or even more for a portion half the size, if the quality was as good.

Rare authentic Chinese fast food restaurant this part of the country. We ordered a bowl of Sun’s original beef noodle soup and a bowl of beef brisket noodle soup. My boyfriend (who is caucasian English) and I both really enjoyed our noodle soups. One thing to keep in mind when going there is that it actually is authentic, meaning, you will not get the same identical fake/nonsense “Chinese” that you typically would at every other takeaway, which might be a disappointment for people looking for that style of food.

I've been here twice now, and I'm sorry but if you are English they really don't want you here, We get looked at like we have two heads, they seem to give there own lovely looking food and plenty of it, but as English speaking person I have to second guess there food and almost everything I ask for is not available? Then we get a noodle dish that really does not look anything like what others are given here ! I watched another English come in to receive the same thing! Also have had very bad food poisoning can't say it's from here but I never ate anything outside of my home that week other than from here ! Two bad experiences.

5 months ago, for about 6 month after opening, this place was amazing. But now it's worked out its profit margin etc. So: - no steamed dumpings ( the main draw) - no Bento boxes after 3pm - lower quality spring rolls But: - Still great wonton soup and noodles - friendly and helpful staff - my 2 year old still loveds it - easier to understand menu

Been here a few times, my go-to place for authentic Chinese meals that are quick and value for money. It is great for their freshness of the ingredients and large portions. I can usually get one meal and eat it for 2! Highly recommend if you need a taste of home that is also healthy and not loaded with too much salt for flavour.

Amazing find right next to the station, the food is great value for money as well as being delicious and authentically Chinese. We had the set rice box which came with 3 big portions of curry, rice and homemade soup along with two extra side dishes of spicy tripe and tofu ribbons. The tripe was soft and fully of flavour, each of the mains were delicate in flavour but not too salty. The bowls of soup other guests were eating were huge portions for less than £10. If we're ever back in the area we will definitely be going here.

The bowls of soup noodles are fairly large but for the price of £9.80, it is quite expensive, closer to central London prices. For an extra £2 you get a substantial amount of meat (toppings) which is just about worth while. The food itself is very tasty and filling, if not a bit oily, but that's sadly expected for most British-oriental restaurants. Seems like a lovely business, had an initial issue with ordering, where 1 part of the order was wrong, however this was quickly sorted out by the staff. So I would say quite good, and polite service, other than the confusion during ordering. Interior is bright and clean, as expected for a new establishment, but a refreshing yet simple atmosphere. Music not too loud and provides a calm, then strange atmosphere, in equal measurs (believe me, alot of restaurants can put of customers with the awful music blaring through their speakers). tl;dr - if you're willing to spend £9.80 on a soup noodle bowl with a ton of noodles, but meat and supplement topping fairly light handed. Then I can't say it's a bad place to go.

We stayed at the hotel and hesitated to dine in the restaurant. My wife had the traditional fish and chips which turned out to be excellent with a thin batter. I had the grilled tuna Niçoise salad with a generous piece of tuna. The service was friendly and efficient which more than made up for the somewhat underwhelming dining room. It was also inexpensive.
