Sunflower Sandwich Bar in North Down

A massive sign made my partner and I aware of this lovely little business. I’m quite fussy when it comes to sandwiches but got the roast beef with bbq sauce and tobacco onions toasted. My partner got the Irish ham and cheese toastie with a ton of salad. We walked to the marina to eat it and it was pure heaven. Also the woman serving us after we said it was our first time there said “oh you’ll be back” and how right she is. It’s funny you sometimes never see the local businesses in your area but when you find gems like this, you’re glad you did!

We are nurses that work at a local hospital. For the last few years we've sent multiple orders for delivery. When ordered asked for after 12 delivery as nurses wouldn't be back until then, delivery came after 11am..(lucky they did meet the delivery man on way out of hospital and got their order, the delivery man couldn't have been nicer) What was VERY upsetting was my colleague clearly heard the delivery man talk to his boss on mobile at Sunflower to check the order and he shouted down the phone "JUST BRING THEIR FU*KING ORDER BACK THEY ARE MORE TROUBLE THAN THEY'RE WORTH"...Absoutley dreadful and disgusting behaviour as we've have supported this local sandwich bar for years. Never again will these nurses be ordering from your premises if this is the way you treat loyal customers. You should be ashamed of yourself!!

Been passed here so may times and finally decided to call in when we were milling around Bangor the other day with time to spare. The range of sandwiches was really good with the set line up of specials etc pretty good as well as the usual array of deli offerings to allow you to make your own. Both my wife and I got the “chelle” subs which were nothing short of amazing, really good filling in both quantity and quality. The coffee was decent too especially by deli standards (as opposed to dedicated coffee places). The prices were on the higher side of average although not too excessive and to be fair it was reflected in the quality which meant we didn’t feel ripped off by any means, although of course if you’re feeling the pinch in your pocked there is a Greggs not too far away! The staff were nice and the process of ordering was all COVID compliant and well run. If there was anything to add by way of a downside… and its small, was that the wait outside for the subs was a little on the long side given we were there at a very quite time (just me and 1 other customer) so I don’t know how fast it would be if you are there at a busy time and in a rush. But all in all a great experience and will definitely be back again.

Great sandwiches, a little overpriced, especially when they overcharge! Two sandwiches, gave them £20, £9 change given, queried this and was told that it was a mistake, they meant to give me £11 as it was £9 for the sandwiches. Understand that mistakes can be made, however, when I thought about it after, one sandwich was £3.75 and one was £4.25, so should have been £8 total, I think they just think of a rough price and hope you'll not query it. Disappointing as sandwiches are always good, might have to try elsewhere.

Really rate the Sunflower great sandwiches usually, annoying that they can’t follow orders though, asked for no sweet corn and no mayo, received it anyway. Kinda ruins the sandwich when you have to eat it with things you don’t like in it. Not exactly a difficult request is it.

I get sandwiches here on a fairly regular basis. Always so fresh and tasty. Generous fillings - you definitely need two hands - delicious! They have a great covid 19 order by phone and pick up service. Brilliant and you dont even have to enter the shop! Well done!

I am never disappointed when i go to Sunflower! The quality is always 100%, staff are friendly and food is always perfect.

I got a sandwich and wrap platter the morning of my daughters wedding, while everybody was getting ready. Its was brilliant and was deliveried on time, the food was delicious. Good job Thank you

Staff are rude and stink of marijuana. What a dump. Sandwich was dry yet greasy at the same time. Overpriced rubbish.

Use your customer card to build up a stamp on each sandwich bought and get a freebie. Great turkey stuffing and cranberry or the Chinese chicken are hard to beat. Well filled with salad stuff and choice of brads and rolls. Lovely and fresh but do be prepared for a bit of a queue at lunchtime peak!

I tried Sunflower sandwiches on few occasions and they were always amazing, I would go so far as saying that they were the best I ever had. Some unusual combos (my favourite is coronation chicken + crispy onion + cheese and peanut butter + bacon + sweet chilli sauce) on the menu. Usually we had them delivered to work. Few weeks ago my husband decided that he wants to try Sunflower (after me raving about it for so long). So we went in to get our sandwiches... The experience wasn’t great. It didn’t seem overly busy yet appeared to be very chaotic. All staff were very nice but we ended up waiting for out sandwiches for far too long in the tiny space while trying not to get in the way of other people. All in all sandwiches are awesome, but get them delivered if you can ;)

Started a new job round the corner and was highly recommended to come try this place out. I’ve gone nearly a dozen times now and every sandwich I’ve had has been fantastic, fairly priced and service has been fast. Staff all seem really dead on and first few times I came in they were good for recommending what to go for. Not a Bangor local but this is without a doubt the best lunch I’ve had in Bangor.

It is another bad experience with this sandwich shop that has lead to me writing this review. I have visited Sunflower in numerous occasions, only to be let down every single time I visit. On this occasion I ordered the ‘Favourite Melt.’ If this is the favourite I dread to think what the least favourite would be like. Bread was hard and soggy all at once, I asked for nothing added on, other than what is listed on the menu only to find that lettuce and tomato had been put in as well. Every time I’ve been I have swore it will be the last time but this time genuinely will. I have zero understanding of why people rate it so highly.

Sunflower does the best sandwiches in Bangor and possibly all of Ulster! Their club sandwich is great with the middle round of bread dipped in gravy 😋😋😋 Staff are all friendly and helpful The shop is not wheelchair accessible however

Best sandwich bar in Bangor and beyond😃🇬🇧 Great sandwiches,wraps,salads,melts,soup,stew,sausage rolls...very friendly and professional staff.....their outside catering excellent aswell...been a customer years their bread and sandwich fillings are off the higest quality👍👍

My partner and I popped in to,this establishment after discovering that the mainstream sandwich bars were busy. Sunflower was fairly hiving too but not so bad. There did not appear to be enough staff to deal with the volume of customers that they were getting. Don’t get me wrong the sandwiches were ok but nothing special. And the young person behind the counter looked extremely bored by proceedings and wishing she was somewhere else. Nice and clean apart from that and the food was fairly priced

Sunflower never disappoints! Was here recently for my usual Leeroy on white bread, bread was very fresh and my friend got a sub which she said was really good, such a friendly place as well

Haven't been here in years so when I recently had the chance to go I really enjoyed it. I had the Leeroy on a white sub, really really enjoyed it, the ingredients were very fresh and service was friendly and quick. Looking forward to my next visit soon hopefully.

Sunflower, although not having been around forever, is a Bangor institution. Their sandwich selection is incredible, whether you’re going for one off their menu or creating your own. Well worth a visit.

Sunflower's been around for a fair while, which is testament to the quality of their food. They're excellent for walking in off the street for a quick and tasty lunch and their platters are brilliant if you're catering for an event.

Lovely sandwiches and they never have a problem with the strange choices of the picky eaters in our family.

Visit here quite regularly, sandwiches etc made fresh to order. Staff are lovely, good value for money, also love the added touch of the loyalty card it's great to see a business giving back to its loyal regular customers.

My title might reek of nepotism or exaggeration, but every visit to the Sunflower Sandwich Bar has earned those compliments. If challenged, I could eat their cajun melt every damn day. This is the must-visit food stop in Bangor.

Would be 5* but on my 2 visits service has been slow and unenthusiastic, however the sandwiches are delicious, plenty to choose from, with biscuits, drinks, crisps and sausage rolls too! Great food!

Usually I opt opt for something healthy but since it was Xmas I decided to try the American style Xmas sandwich and it was delightful I didn't eat for the rest of the day !!!

I never get the opportunity to get into the town centre but when I do, I always go for a sunflower. Every time I have been, the food is so fresh (the bread in particular) there is so much choice. Every time I have been, I am always served by friendly, helpful staff. Would seriously recommend this to anyone. Great prices for the high quality of food you are given.

Really good selection of sandwiches, buns and other snacks. The Xmas sandwich is amazing and recommend to all. Service can be a little slow but that's down to them being so busy.There delivery service is also a real bonus.

This review is on the basis that you are in the mood for a sandwich and if so then Sunflower is a great choice. I have been going here since around 2007/8 and to this day it still delivers, In fact at the time of writing Sunflower currently is selling its festive "Christmas Cracker" sandwich that is sure to make anybody moist around their taste buds. Chicken Tikka rolls are amazing. Each sandwich is well filled out and reasonably priced, this review comes with the Brambles Belly approved stamp which means its a full 5 stars for any sandwich lover in County Down.

Guaranteed fresh sandwiches with very generous fillings. A wide range of choices and very reasonably priced. They also provide an excellent delivery service for businesses and schools.

Love this place, best sandwiches in Bangor! Lovely friendly staff as well. We love the tuna doe our little girl and the melts are huge! Great salads as well if you are trying to be good.outside catering is also excellent.

This the best place for a sandwich or a wrap in the whole of North Down.I visited here today as my daughter who was hospitalised asked me to get her some real food and I was duly despatched by her to this specific venue for her perfect sandwich.This place is a revelation the quality of the food the choices and the amount packed into one sandwich is outstanding.I recommend it first rate.

Ordered platters to be delivered to work for staff training day. (50 people) They were fabulous. They included a vegetarian platter and a special individually packed and printed celiac sandwich at no extra cost. The bread was fresh and packed with ingredients. Also 15p per round cheaper than the last supplier we ordered from. And delivered free of charge! Perfect.

Super sandwiches made to order, really fresh and a fabulous variety. Friendly service. Outside catering is really good too! Really worth a visit, much superior to the food court chain variety!

I work in bangor and my colleagues and I would have either ordered up or one of us walked down to get an order for the office once to twice a week. I can't eat bread so I normally opt for a salad. (Despite the our favorite sandwich coming with salad an our favourite salad is more expensive) you pay extra for the cheese chilli sauce and crispy onions but I don't mind it's nice. Order arrived noticed no crispy onions. Phoned to complain advised to mention next time get half price. Later on in afternoon driver left in an extremely rude note written on an envelope apologises my fault bla bla bla. It was from the female member of staff who is a stuck up Horrid woman. We expected a voucher to be inside but no just the note!! Because of this rude rude jesture you have lost loyal customers. One colleague in particular used yourselves for platters for all occasions through out the year. None of us will be back again.

Rang sunflower yesterday morning(Saturday) and asked if they could possibly do a platter for that night. I wasn't expecting a yes as it was late late notice, but it was no problem at all. Food was fantastic as always. Best sandwiches in Bangor and such good value. Lovely staff too. Will use everytime

If you're hungry these sandwiches will do the trick. Choice of bread/rolls etc and then deciding on the fillings.....yummy!! Go early though and can be lengthy cues at lunch time. Worth the wait.

Situated just off Main Street in the town centre. Rolls and sandwiches are freshly prepared with your choice of filling and bread type. They are very generous with the filling. Coffee and drinks available to sit in or take away. Premises are clean and staff are friendly.
