Sunflower in Merthyr Tydfil

found plastic in my chips, owner only took 50p off the 7.50 order of burgers, chips and a drink edit : he never offered a "free meal" what is he on about 😭

Had a great fish and chips for lunch!

We wanted a quick meal before catching a train and this restaurant was ideal! We had traditional fish a nd chips which were super nice, freshly cooked so piping hot and of course a cup of tea to wash it down. The staff were very friendly and helpful would go there again when in the area.

Disgusting.. got charged £16 pound for 2 small gravy and chips with a sausage and 2 cans The food was horrendous and even worse with the price we was charged for When we questioned the price we got smirked at and told no no you paided for meal. Never going back we got ripped off.. be careful with these people. The people here are rude and arrogant.

Sunflower has been part of Merthyrs high street for more than 30 years and while it’s changed ownership a few times it still serves up good old fashion chip shop cafe grub. I use it as regularly as I can and find the service polite, friendly and speedy whilst the food served is lovely and what you’d expect from this kind of restaurant. The gravy and chips tastes as good today as it did when I used to visit with my parents as a child decades ago.

We left due to being ignored by staff. We were given a menu waited 15 minutes, but everyone else who entered the restaurant after us was waited on. Didn’t bother getting food, and were not even asked why we decided to leave. Poor service.

Highly recommended. We loved our fish and chips, it was very tasty. We came to the town just after 6 pm and the shop was closing but the staff was SO kind and friendly to let us in and prepare food for us. My little one has eaten everything ( which doesn’t happen often :) . Thank you very much .

Disgusting !!! My wife and I were both very hungry and thought to try fish and chips in Sunflower. Since the Sunflower is on the high street, we thought the food would be fine, but it was absolutely inedible. Both the fish and chips were yuck - fried in stale (multiple times reused ?) oil, whose stink was very distinct. The quality of fish was also pathetic : not at all fresh, and full of bones. Similarly, the chips served to us was very bad, and we left almost all the chips. While the service was good, the food was absolutely horrible. Will never recommend it to anyone again. I rarely give 1 star to any place, but this place deserves it.

Food is generally nice, but no COVID rules being enforced. I'll be back when it's all done!

Absolutely appalling food.kebab was spicy water sausage burnt. pie was the cheapest of the cheapest this used to be great here untill the old lady left

Absolutely disgusted with the guy in the shop today..I bought my grandson a cone of chips and pop and I ordered a coffee to which I had paid for and was waiting patiently for, the owner told me that i could not sit down!! I looked at him in total amazement so I vacated his shop minus my coffee!! I can assure you that I will not be gracing them with my presence again, I thought they were a bit dubious as it only had a 1 star rating so say no more.👎👎
