Sun Kai in Dumfries & Galloway

We were really looking forward to our meal from Sun Kai as an end of holiday treat....sadly the best thing about the food was the microwave safe containers it came in! Rice was salty and hard, prawns were tough and in awful batter and the chow mein had overcooked noodles and undercooked everything else and was really tasteless. I can't believe it's gone so bad in only a year. We won't be back and if I could give minus stars, I would.

Ate here years ago and decided to use takeaway on a return trip. Still the highlight of our stay. Tasty, hot and fresh and a good price.

Usually have a takeaway from here as I live locally but went out for lunch with friends,staff here are great and so nice,set meal was tasty,freshly cooked and ample amount,lunch here again is a definite

Food was dismal, ordered Fillet Steak Cantonese Style & asked for medium rare, told it was pre-cooked and unable to accommodate, came in a sugary sweet red sauce with onions & 4 small pieces of steak which I would argue wasn't fillet. Special curry consisted of chicken & 4 prawns. After waiting over 2 hours for our order it didn't contain the fried rice we'd order,hot & sour soups were lukewarm & tasteless. Only positive was the chicken & sweetcorn soup which was delicious but again only lukewarm. BBQ Ribs were average but expensive at £5.30 for the ribs & an additional £1.30 for BBQ sauce. Will not be eating from this place again

Ordered a takeaway to pickup, food was ready exactly when they said it would be. Was clearly cooked fresh as it was still hot after a ten minute drive home. Excellent COVID-19 precautions in place. Would recommend and will be back.

We had a meal for three on Friday night what a waste off nearly £40 it was a congealed mess inedible I contacted them to tell off our dissatisfaction to be told management would contact me but haven't had a response won't be back for a long time they need to pull there socks up nil points for customer service we have been loyal customer for many many years

Me detuve en Stranraer para una cena, y me apetecía algo asiática. tripadvisor me dijo app este lugar estaba cerca de donde había aparcado así que decidí intentarlo. Mi pedido fue tomado en una pequeña zona de bar y luego me llevaron a una mesa cuando mi excelente entrante de gambas tostadas estaba listo. El proceso parecía más formal de lo que es necesario, pero el personal era amable. Mi pollo al curry tardó un poco en llegar, pero fue una gran porción y buen sabor. Una gran relación calidad-precio

Always have a great meal here .staff are very friendly and polite. The tea time special is good value for money and they make the best bbq spare ribs

We had a takeaway from here that was reasonable priced and pretty decent. No free prawn crackers with orders over £X though like many places do! Nice but nothing especially memorable.

Ordered take away after poor buffet at family event!. VERY good king prawn & black bean sauce and delicious crispy pancake roll.

Lovely service freshfood even though only customers no chosen drinks left but happy to take soft drink

We have only ever used the takeaway, but we have used it numerous times over the last couple of years, which is a recommendation in itself!

This is a lovely Chinese restaurant which is a little hidden away. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only small criticism is if you are vegetarian or eat halal or kosher the range of dishes is limited. There are no fish dishes only king prawns and scallops. But if your happy to eat king prawns the choice is excellent.

Met friends who had recommended this place. My son is coeliac, so ingredients are important. Waitress knew the contents of most dishes and any she was unsure of, she checked with the kitchen. Good food, well cooked and served. Excellent value

Always a great treat to be served authentic Chinese food at the tip of Galloway. Beautifully designed interior. Attentive and friendly staff. Family atmosphere. Delicious dishes and great desserts.

In Stranraer for an overnight stay and did a bit of research on the internet and found this gem of a restaurant which happened to be just round the corner from where we were stopping . The early bird 3 course menu is served from 5pm -9pm and has something for everyone,the soup was authentic chicken noodle and the chicken curry was superb and to finish off I had banana fritter At £11,90 for three courses I think it is fantastic value coupled with great service and when ever we are in Stranraer we will make a point of visiting Sun Kai

great place have dined here plus got carry outs, lots of dishes to pick from and the staff are very friendly, plenty to choose from and good helpings

Tuesday evening isn't the best time for a meal out, but the only evening we had in Stranraer. I'm so glad we spent it at the Sun Kai!!! The food was hot, freshly cooked and delicious. I had the sweet and sour King Prawns (12 of them) with fried rice and hubby had the King Prawn Chow Mein... he managed a pudding, but I was full to bursting point. The house red wine is an excellent Romanian Merlot. If I'm ever back in Stranraer, I'll certainly go again. The waitress and the manager were friendly and efficient and made us feel like we were VIPs.

Really nice place to eat! Inside the restaurant is very clean and modern. The food was great and I would definitely go back.

went with friends to the Sun Kai, staff are pleasant. There is nowhere to hang up coats/jackets and I was told that we could just through it over the back of our seats! I want happy with that . The food is good and pretty standard for a Chinese Rest. The portion size is good but this is an average place to eat with little atmosphere.

Phoned the Take Away part of this restaurant, placed an order for pick up, was told about 20 minutes for pick up. Arrived after 20 minutes gave my name to the person behind the counter, then waited another 30 minutes only to be told that they had no record of my order and what would I like.I decided to go else where for food that night absolutely terrible service received.
