If you are looking for something tasty this is the the place, always a tasty meal. There are plenty on gluten free menu which is also just as tasty. Peking chicken is my go to here as it is absolutely banging. Go here now!

Rice overcooked. Barely any curry sauce chips tasted like fish. There's better chineses in the town.

Ordered a takeaway meal from Phoenix, but unfortunately didn't enjoy it and wasn't that impressed with the quality of the food. The salt and chilli chips were not too bad, however the portion wasn't great. The breast of chicken curry was stodgy, the chicken was tough and question whether it was breast at all. The portion size was decent though. On a positive note, the service was quick and the staff were pleasant.

I haven’t had a proper gluten free Chinese takeaway in 5 years since having coeliac disease. We found this based on reviews and it didn’t disappoint! I had garlic mushrooms with salt and pepper crispy chicken. Oh I was in love!

Phoned up and asked politely how long it would be for a delivery and the woman on the phone took a sarcastic tone and said "WE DON'T DO DELIVERIES" then hung up.

Staying local to Dumfries and not from area picked this one over others due to the fact they did Gluten Free for one of family. Food was good the GF salt and peper chicken was really nice and recommended, family enjoyed there various meals, will pop back if back in New Abbey

Always good quality food and always consistent

Given the reviews we thought this would be a safe bet for a takeaway while visiting Dumfries. Unfortunately we weren’t inspired nor did we enjoy what we choose. The portion size we felt was smaller than a typical takeaway, the chicken balls should be renamed chicken pancakes and were not only very stodgy but greasy too. As we were hungry we ate what we ordered but we were sadly disappointed

Found this takeaway by chance as our usual Chinese takeaway was closed. PHOENIX is now our firm favourite go to takeaway.

Really good, I like that classic Chinese dish chicken, pineapple and chips.

Best chinese in dumfries by far. Highly reccomend salt and chilli chicken, only place that has very generous portions. Amazing Value

A small family run Chinese - been going here 7 years now :) I've never had a crap meal, their Salt and pepper chicken is yum, as is the special foo young, and prawn toast Just saying ;) Thin prawn crackers :( -it would be nice to have fatter versions, but I hardly eat them anyways fat or thin. Yep, it's cash only - it always has been, but for me, that's not a drawback. A full meal costs around 8 pounds, which I think is good value. Food has always been hot and tasty.

I have always have had an excellent service, friendly staff, the meals have always been hot & fresh and always found a parking space outside.

I will not return to this Chinese. We were over charged, the food was hands down the worst we have ever had, we ordered the house special chow main it was made with supernoodles very disappointing especially since it cost over £9.50 marked up over £1.60 over menu price. Then the sweet and sour Cantonese was worse yet, it was not fresh you could tell it had been made 4/5 days prior and mainly consists of onions and green pepper again was marked up from the menu price of 7.20 the best thing about mine and husband's meals were the chips and prawn crackers. If you are considering a Chinese meal from Dumfries please try another Chinese to save spending your hard earned cash on the food from this establishment..

My husband had king prawn sweet and sour with rice I had king prawn curry and noodles and I am into the toasted prawn sesame toast it was a bit dearer but it was so worth spending bit more 2 get a very tasty meal all was very clean so will be back well done phoenix Chinese keep up with the good work 👏

Pound for pound the best Chinese in the town. I love getting a takeaway from here and would never look past it. It is so well priced and the staff are amazing!

Very poor rice, it resembled the rubber rice from supermarket instant micro wave rice and prawn crackers were stale 🙁

I've recently moved here from Glasgow, where there is a huge choice of excellent takeaways, so I was keen to see how Phoenix measured up. It doesn't look much from the outside and could maybe do with a lick of paint, but our food was plentiful, tasty and good value (including a free sack of prawn crackers). There's also gluten-free and some specials not on the regular menu. Phoenix doesn't offer the huge choice that big city places do and delivery doesn't seem to be an option, plus - don't get caught out - it's cash only.

Google maps says delivery, ring up we don’t do delivery. Place says cash only no card and no delivery’s it’s 2022 get with the times. Don’t care how good anyones food can be people require delivery and card use for ease

I have tried a variety of dishes from the menu. All have very good with high quality finish. Quantity is good value for money. Everything is fresh and well presented. Lisa and Andrew are lovely and will help with any specific requirements you have.

We regularly get take away from here . The best Chinese restaurant. In Dumfries and Galloway. Owner Lisa is super friendly.

Was open on a Tuesday when other Chinese takeaways were closed. Good variety of dishes. Very helpful advising about dishes. Note that payment is by Cash Only.

Great Chinese very friendly nice to talk to love the food

Rubber rice stale crackers and a sauce which is identical to b and m add boiling water ended up chucking the lot in the bin total waste of time and a reminder why I haven’t ordered in a long time

Delicious gluten free menu cooked fresh and by a lovely family. Highly recommended. My son has coeliac disease and relies on a gluten free diet and he can eat here with confidence.....and loves it.

Love this place ,really nice people and prompt with phone orders ,if they say twenty minutes your order is ready on time . Cash only as no card machine . It does not bother me as I like to leave a tip . Will continue to use the Phoenix regularly.

We were down in Dumfries on holiday and fancied some Chinese food . I would go as far to say this was the best Chinese takeaway we’ve ever experienced. The food was delicious and the friendliness of the staff made this a very pleasing experience. I wish we lived closer to here as it would be our#1 choice . We visited Dumfries just recently and Googled for the best Chinese Takeaway in Dumfries,well we were not disappointed in the least . The food was delicious with generous portions. The lady who owns the Phoenix was delightful,what a lovely chatty woman . My only problem now is finding a Chinese takeaway near me that’s as good as the Phoenix . Next time in in Dumfries I will most definitely be back . Thanks

Since discovering this Chinese a little over 2 years ago, I can honestly say eating another Chinese Takeout feels wrong. I have been back consistently not just for the brilliant food, but for the attentive service with regards to allergies. The owner cannot be faulted at all. The staff are always polite, and you know your custom is valued when the family recognise you when you enter. Absolutely amazing Chinese. I daren't go anywhere else!

Very busy takeaway, Staff very friendly - even under pressure!! Good selection on the menu and prices are some of the best in Dumfries. Food was excellent, piping hot and refreshingly different from other Chinese restaurants. Will definitely visit again.

These were the worst salt and chill chips i have ever had!!!! Chips with salt on and 2 or 3 chill flakes and they were dry. i wont go to the this take away again

Ordered takeaway for three by phone for collection later that evening. The crispy spring rolls were enormous and really tasty while the chicken & pineapple and beef & mushroom dishes were delicious. Will definitely be ordering from the Phoenix again.

Does exactly what it says on the tin! I had food from here this evening and I was very happy. I chose to drive there, order and wait. I parked in a residential street opposite, so no problems with convenience, the menu was simple, with a good choice of foods, and, the prices were pretty standard for a Chinese takeaway, so no issues there. The kitchen is visible from the order counter and I can honestly say that it was clean and tidy, everything was labelled and the meats were stored separate, and with fridge spaces clearly separated of cooked, from raw. It seems to be a well run kitchen. The food was hot and we'll packaged so no issues of sauces spilling in the bag, or it getting cold when taking it back to my hotel in the car (although the hotel was less than a mile straight up the road, so not really a big issue to be honest). finally, the food was really very tastey and I enjoyed it a lot. I will definitely be back next time I'm working in Dumfries, and I would definitely recommend this takeaway to anyone. Also, I had the Chinese (katsu style) chicken curry, and it was honestly the best I've had in a really long time. This is a very good takeaway.

Have been using this wee gem of a Chinese takeaway for about a year. The food is authentic, fresh and flavoursome. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Never have to wait very long. Overall a great wee place.
