What a wonderful meal. Everything was great, not a fault. Real ale, good wine, amazing food. A late review, thanks trip advisor for saving as a draft! Family meal, 10+ of us and all enjoyed food. I’ll be back to kidnap your dogs!

Superb Sunday roast in a cosy environment. Staff were very professional & worked so hard to make it a grear first visit we will definitely go again. Food was piping hot, high quality. We had 3 different meats between us lots of veg, excellent gravy & lovely desserts. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Visited here with my 2 young sons last night. The staff were really friendly. Everything, including the drinks, was really reasonably priced. The food was served swiftly and was high quality. I was particularly impressed with the children's portions which were quality and a great size. My wife wasn't with us but she is vegetarian, and unlike the previous reviewer we understand that sometimes gravy is not vegetarian. I did see that the sun and slipper do cater for vegetarians and would bring my wife with us in the future. Highly recommended.

From arrival to departure everything was fabulous Lovely friendly atmosphere Beautiful cool dinning area, which is hard to achieve in this weather, so very much appreciated. The pub is nicely decorated inside and out and we were quickly shown to our table with menus for Sunday lunch. I’d checked online before booking that they catered for vegetarians and also confirmed this with the gentlemen when I rang to book. We ordered our various roast dinners and asked for one roast without meat for a vegetarian. They had to go check with the chef, but said that was okay. The plates duly arrived but the “vegetarian” plate had no roast potatoes and no gravy, just dry veg. The server explained in a rather put-out-tone the roasties were cooked in goose fat and they didn’t cater for vegetarian gravy … she then asked “would you like some tomato sauce instead?”! Vegetarianism is hardly a rare occurrence these days but what really annoyed me was the fact (1) I was assured they could accommodate us before we arrived when they clearly could not; and (2) the attitude of the server was that we were being an inconvenience, my daughter left quite upset. That’s poor leadership and misleading customer communication in my opinion.

My wife and I dined at this pub last night. The food was exquisite. Very friendly service and, considering the quality of the food, very good value.

We came to try the Sun and Slipper on the 11/05/23 after we were recommended by somebody and wow it did not disappoint. If we could give this more than 5 stars we would. As soon as we entered the pub we were welcomed by a lovely woman that gave us a gorgeous window seat which was just perfect. As soon as we opened the menu we were amazed. So many options for starters and mains! Being in the industry ourselves as chefs, we really admired the time and thought put into the menu ensuring there was something for everyone! We eventually chose the pate and the mushrooms on toast to begin with and it was incredible! The portions were very generous and just so so tasty! You can tell everything is homemade. For mains we had the monkfish and the pan roasted chicken both accompanied with garlic potatoes. The mains were outstanding! We were nothing but full of compliments gushing to each other about our mains as they settled. Each flavour profile was delicate and complimented each other perfectly. The nicest meal we have had in a long time! For dessert we had the bread and butter pudding and apple pie which were both steaming hot when they came out of the kitchen!! They both had amazing flavour and again very generous portions! We will 100% be back again. We couldn’t recommend this establishment enough. It’s rare you find a place with a friendly face and excellent service and outstanding food and this is what we found tonight. Thankyou so much for having us it was truly incredible and we can’t wait to come back and try something new off of the menu!

The pub is easy to find, has good parking. The staff are few but very welcoming. The menu is good and different from the usual gastropubs, unusual food with great sauces. Service was good .

Table for 10 to celebrate a family birthday. Welcomed by an open fire in the bar and friendly staff who looked after us well all evening. The food was delicious!

Just moved to the area and went in with the dog last Friday for a spot of lunch. Wide selection of freshly cooked and delicious food. Really friendly people (Wendy, the landlady and other customers). Glad this is our new local.

My old friend and I try and find new places to meet for lunch occasionally. This time we thought we would try the intriguing sounding Sun and Slipper in the village of Marple. A week beforehand I checked the website for the menus, saw they did a good range of sandwiches as well as a la carte and phoned to reserve a table. I explained on the phone that we were probably only coming for sandwiches but we just wanted to be sure of a table on a Saturday lunchtime. That was all fine he said, we'll expect you at 12.30. We met in the car park and went into the bar. We've booked a table for lunch we said and were shown through into the dining area and seated in the window. There were other customers but they were not especially busy. It was a pleasant atmosphere. We were brought menus and we ordered drinks. However, we had only been given the a la carte menus so we requested to see what sandwiches they had on offer. Oh, we only do sandwiches in the bar we were told. Well, you've seated us in here now, we did make it clear on booking, so is there a problem? Apparently, there was! The waiter was perfectly courteous but the woman from behind the bar was thoroughly discourteous. She even came back with their booking book claiming no details (other than numbers and time) were recorded in it. I remained civil but pointed out that their booking arrangements were their responsibility not ours as the customers. She must have got the point as she then disappeared and we enjoyed our wine, sandwiches, dessert and coffee in peace. Sadly, the way we were treated on arrival left a poor impression and we will not be going back there again.

Lovely place, very well renovated - light & airy inside - great food and well kept beers so what’s not to like?? Well worth a visit

We are only in the area once a year but always include the Sun and Slipper in our meals out and it is always the best by far. To say we liked the food would be a huge understatement, tasty, imaginative for 'pub food' and filling proportions and friendly efficient staff. Thank you.

Food was amazing! The waitress that served us was so accommodating and had such a good attention to detail, our second round of drinks she even remembered the smallest things like a straw in my drink and extra lime! the food itself was gorgeous, we had the gammon and duck and will 100% be recommending to all, such a lovely homely feel to the restaurant, will be back! 😊

My wife & I went to the Sun & Slipper for lunch for the first time and what a wonderful place this pub is! A very warm & friendly welcome by the staff, the restaurant was nicely laid out and the food was absolutely first rate! If you get the chance book a table, this is one of the best country pubs in Worcestershire!

It’s been awhile so thought we’d pop in for Sunday Lunch. Loin of Pork and Monkfish later, very full and very satisfied. Outstanding food and brilliant service

We called on spec and managed to get a table upstairs as downstairs was full. We both had the prawn cocktail which was very nice but I think a little overpriced at £8.95 it definitely was no better than the ones we have had at a £1 or £1.50 cheaper. Our main course was lamb which was absolutely lovely very tender and plenty of it, the vegetables cabbage, cauliflower and carrots were cooked to perfection as were the roast and new potatoes we were given a large jug of excellent gravy. The owners, (Wendy and Roger) were on holiday but had made arrangements for the hostelry to be specially opened for our walking group to have lunch.Our numbers are usually 6/16 however, 22 turned out on the day much to the surprise of Kelly ( the dedicated "front of house" person), who was taking the pre - orders for lunch.Following our 5 mile walk in the local countryside we duly returned to an excellent reception and lunch.Congratulations and thanks to the staff who worked tirelessly to service the requirements of the group. I would add that the wives of the two leaders arrived unannounced, to join the group for lunch, resulting in a minor hitch to proceedings.However, Kelly with the cooperation of the kitchen staff, was able to meet the additional requests.An excellent effort by all concerned - a credit to Wendy and Roger during their vacation.

As the title suggests A Treat on Christmas Eve. I’ve known this establishment for many years and of course the present owners who never fail to make their customers most welcome. My husband and I called in for lunch, and we were not disappointed, it was superb, compliments to the Chef, and we will certainly be regular customers from now on. Kelly made us very welcome, such a bubbly character, she was lovely, standing in for the owners who I believe were having a well earned break prior to the Christmas rush. Met with a wonderful roaring log fire. I don’t know the front of house ladies name but she’s so kind and friendly, always a smile. Food choices brilliant and the quality cannot be criticized. Plates hot and food freshly prepared to perfection.

Visted 6th November with Groupon Voucher (often try discounts to try new places).We were treated with respect and dignity which if sometimes not the case. Pleasant bar area where we had a drink and ordered food before being taken to our table. The food was wonderful, dialogue limited as too busy enjoying it. Chowder & Fish Pie, Stuffed Smoked Salmon and Rib Eye. Perfect. Would pay menu prices for this quality food. Good ambience, high cleanliness score and the staff were professional and friendly. I hadn,t realised it had been so long since I had been here, it is quite a way from where I live but when I saw it on groupon I thought I must make the effort to go as my friends and I enjoyed it so much and we were not disappointed it was just as good as we remembered the food was delightful cooked to perfection, the waitress was so professional and friendly will not be leaving it so long next time thank you all

visited today had lamb followed by damson crumble. husband had the salmon. both dishes cooked to perfection, seasonal veg well presented and beautifully cooked. one of the best pub meals i've ever had. Havent been to this pub before but will be returning, the food is excellent the pub spotlessly clean and a beautiful flowery sitting area outside and well priced. Brilliant. Service friendly and welcoming.

Firstly reading the negative comments on this beautiful country pub has astounded me!!

After visiting the pub this week I was totally disappointed with the whole experience ,firstly the beer was flat so I complained ,to which I was given a answer nobody else had complained about the beer but very reluctantly gave me a fresh pint which wasn’t much better tbh ,after sitting down in the front of the pub I was amazed by the lack of Friendliness by the bar lady and staff i ordered a light bite sandwich personally the sandwich was over priced for what it was ,all the time a rather Nasty dog which had dog dribble hanging from his mouth wondered freely around the pub and into the kitchens I was gob smacked after seeing the General overall running of this pub was pretty poor in my Opinion ,this really is a country pub rather badly run a true gossip den for the locals ,which all seemed to focus around the land lady, who’s lack of respect for the customer and punters who were drinking there ,after I finished my drink or what I drank off it, I left the pub only to be rather sarcastically asked if I would pleas make sure the door was shut behind me ,how dammed right rude this is a pub which definitely won’t be in the good food guide or win pub of the year as to say I won’t be back

We visited for a family meal having never been to this pub before ! Initial thoughts it was lovely but to be greeted by a dog wandering around ! Now I’m all for pets in pubs but to have it wondering around the pub and into the kitchen doesn’t give great first impressions ! The food was ok ! Not the bistro feel it promises more like a weatherspoons on a posher plate ! We had little ones with us and like most parents we wanted to eat our dinner with a little peace but trying to get the WiFi code from the landlady is like trying to break in to fort knocks !! Overall slightly worried about the health and hygiene of the place and concern about having such a big dog roaming around! We would of been returning but I think the owners could take a few classes on customer service to lighten the customers experience

This is our go to place! They cater for anyone and any occasion. We’ve spent birthdays there and even just popped in for a quick bite with the dog. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food is consistently amazing. Wendy is a brilliant host and Roger is a first class chef.

Really delicious lunch curtesy of Groupon. Mamble is a pretty quiet village that is worth driving the drive out to for lunch. The Chef can REALLY cook and produces some tasty food and excellent sauces. I had the trout and my colleague had the lambs liver, homemade pate and garlic mushrooms starters. We obviously had to have a sweet, bread pudding and Pavlova. Excellent.

My husband and I had a Groupon voucher and used it for an evening meal. We had two courses for a great price. The service was great, lovely friendly member of staff. Food was cooked really well and very tasty. The sweet that we chose was unavailable, but we were offered an alternative, in addition to the others on the menu. Lovely old Inn. We will certainly go back.

We had never eaten here before but had a Groupon for a two course meal at a bargain price. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and asked for our drinks order as we were handed menus. We chose the garlic mushrooms and the tomato/mozzarella as starters. They arrived promptly and were delicious although the sauce in the mushrooms could have been a little thicker. Our mains were the steak (medium rare) with garlic potatoes, and chicken breast with chips. These came with a dish of vegetables, nicely cooked. Have to say both meals were fabulous, tender steak, moist chicken, lovely sauces. We both felt that the meals were the right size, not too much, but enough. And after a short break we decided to try the puds! Rhubarb and apple crumble, and a chocolate terrine. Quite expensive at an extra £6.95 each but absolutely delicious. The wine is also quite expensive, 175mls for around £5.50 a time so it may be much better to buy a bottle. The staff were pleasant and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Will certainly return.

This is a very good pub the gardens have new seating and a very quite location. The restaurant is charming with excellent food. We ate food at lunchtime you cannot get anywhere else but it had normal pub food as well.The chef who I think is the owner and his wife are very helpful. Have been before and will go again.

We were a table of six booked for Thursday 6th June, with customers in the bar and dinning room, must admit the Sun and Slipper has been a regular favourite. On arrival we were met by a lovely lady, who said Roger and Wendy were on their travels. Sorry to have missed them. The chef on his own with the waitress, who also did the bar work, meeting and greeting. Just wanted to put on record for Roger and Wendy that their pride and joy the Sun and Slipper has been left in the hands of a great chef and delightful hostess for which nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I thought we would try the Sun and Slipper in Mamble as it has been years since we visited.

The bar area is nicely decorated and the staff were very good, and the restaurant itself was very nice. There's a large choice of food, and a special menu offering a one, two, or three course option. The food was outstanding, would definitely recommend the Lamb with garlic potatoes. It is just off the main road but well signposted, and has a large car park.

After many visits to the Sun & Slipper, Roger, Wendy and the team never ever fail to deliver. The atmosphere is lovely, relaxed, super friendly and very efficient.

Due to health reasons,we decided that this year 2018,we would book the Christmas day festive meal at the Sun & Slipper.

Had lunch at the Sun & Slipper on Boxing Day and as always it was truly fabulous.

Having just moved local in the hunt to find a great pub. Fantastic food, beer really good. Friendly staff and a real gem to find.

What a lovely Sunday Lunch. It is such a relaxing place, with excellent service. We have been several times in the last 20years and it never dissapooints.

Travelling to the Sun and Slipper we had both decided on a Sunday roast. Me beef and hubby pork. Then we saw the specials board. Hubby chose the brill in a creamy white wine sauce with mushrooms and prawns. I chose the fish stew which had calamari,mussels, prawns and fillet of fish cooked in a vegetable and tomato sauce, served with a freshly baked crusty baguette. Absolutely faultless. They were very busy so thankful that we had booked. Great atmosphere and service. Well done Roger and Wendy and staff. Another fabulous meal. Disappointed that I cannot give ratings as the ap isn’t allowing.

What a find ! A real country pub, full of old fashioned charm and a very warm welcome.

Whilst staying at a hotel and spa nearby, we thought we would venture out to experience some of the local pubs.. and I'm glad we did as we had a lovely Sunday lunch which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, even our two daughters (aged 10 and 6) didn't leave anything on their plates.. If you like deserts and a fan of Pavlova's.. then you have to try either the 'Banana and toffee Pavlova' OR the 'Strawberry and Raspberry Pavlova'.. or just do what we did and order both :-P

Absolutely fantastic....Sunday lunch was excellent. Service was efficient but never obtrusive. Food was wonderful, local lamb was divine. The absence of noisy children was a real treat. Hot plates. Superb desserts and coffee to finish made a perfect Sunday - would recommend without hesitation and we look forward to our next visit.

I would definately give this pub a visit. Halfway between Bewdley and Tenbury Wells in a little village called Mamble off the A456. Friendly atmosphere, ample car park, good beers and a restaurant offering excellent food at reasonable prices. Service was fast and friendly. Toilets were immaculate. We were staying in a B & B nearby and discovered this on our last night. Would have called again.

I really cannot fault the meals we had. Beautiful meat, vegetables, gravy and knockout Yorkshire pudding. Best Sunday lunch anywhere.

A large unpretentious pub with plenty of parking and a good side beer garden, just off of the main road close to the village church.

first time I have been to this pub in a very long time. Visited with 10 others for Sunday Lunch. weather was beautiful so sat outside for drinks and to peruse the menu.most of the party had the roast lamb , with a couple choosing salmon.My lamb was perfect, slightly pink and complimented by fresh veg and proper mint sauce ! ( I hate that mint jelly , mint sauce is so easy to make !) The dining room is very nice with a cottage feel to it, tastefully decorated and a perfect ambience. The food was very good as was the service. A lovely country pub ,good choice of ales, will be visiting again soon.

Fabulous,fabulous, fabulous. Preordered a lemon sole and lobster for our anniversary lunch. Divine, not disappointed at all. Followed by a fab homemade dessert. Beautiful surprise of a bottle of bubbly to help us celebrate. We visited many restaurants over the years but the Sun and Slipper is by far the best. The quality of food and service is heads above all others. It was a pleasure to take friends and family, who are now very aware why this is our number one. Thanks to Wendy and Roger.

Truly wonderful food have been lots of times before and never dissapoints. Staff are very polite. Wendy is a great host and the food roger cooks is always too a very high standard.

Another visit to the Sun & Slipper and another perfect evening. The restaurant was busy but the service was still impeccable. The quality of the food is sublime, the portion size is plentiful and it arrives at the table piping hot. Fabulous.

Brought my sister, my brother and his lady to The Sun and Slipper for lunch. Despite the wonderful lunchtime menu, we decided to eat off the a la Carte menu. The food was excellent, my brother and I had the fillet stuffed with Stilton, my husband had a ribeye steak, my sister had the lamb and my brothers partner had a beautiful vegetarian meal. Everyone really enjoyed and just about managed to ‘squeeze in’a homemade sweet. (Thankfully my brother helped a couple of us finish our puds!). Cannot praise this establishment highly enough. We always have marvellous food and service. Back again Saturday with some friends, and a meal just for the two of us next week. Thank you so much Roger and Wendy. Do not know why trip advisor is not letting me give 5star reviews, buttons not working!

Visited this pub on Easter Saturday night totally on the whim, we decided to go out at 630pm - Live about 5 miles away and have only ever been once as a teenager many moons ago so was keen to try again as if it was a new place - Overall summary, I wasn't disappointed at all!

Have been visiting the Sun & Slipper for many years and have never been disappointed. It is quite a journey for us to visit this wonderful hostelry so use it for special occasions and absolutely love it. The owners Roger & Wendy, staff Kelly & Becky are so warm and welcoming The ambience is fantastic and the food is sublime, so much so, we never want it to end. Such attention to detail in all that they do is so very much appreciated.

This was our second visit to this pub, our first visit was lovely our second unfortunately was dreadful. Odd champagne glasses and appetizers looked like they had been left out for days.. The mains came cold and very small portions of veg for four adults. Three mince pies between four of us and a bill for nearly £400.00 definitely would not recommend this. I have sent a message to the owners but not heard back from the. Very poor considering the cost.

Unfortunately my latest visit to this wonderful establishment was spoiled 100% by vastly deceptive starter description & when questioned the staff or chef did not come back with a satisfactory explanation. I was treated by a friend for my birthday to a meal at The Sun & Slipper at Mamble.

First time for our friends and their three children. As always, the food was heavenly, staff friendly and efficient. We all thoroughly enjoyed all of the food and the children really enjoyed serving themselves to the vegetables, as always, fresh and seasonal. Really cannot fault anything. We usually meet up nearer Wolverhampton, where they live. All of them said it was the best place ever, and we shall all be coming back. Well done Roger and Wendy! This is a pub that's got it just right. Welcoming, friendly, smart, well organised and most importantly, the food was excellent. Could not fault it at all. Prices good too, not the cheapest but well worth every penny.

It's a regular place for my wife and I to visit for Sunday Lunch, the quality of the food, the service, and the dining room are all first class.

We were on our way home from a trip to Wyre Forest and saw the sign on the main road for this pub. What a find! The locals were lovely, the landlady was brilliant and the food was perfect. The pub has a good choice of beers and is dog-friendly. Next time we are in the area we will go back. Highly recommended

Just had to say, if you like duck, then you’ve got to try it here. Simply put, the best piece of duck (prepared and cooked) I have ever had. Well done Roger. PS: Thanks for letting me change the sauce, I know I am a heathen

We had a Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, the staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, we had 20 people dining and they all said it was the best Sunday Lunch they could remember. Roger and Wendy could not have been more helpful, good food, good atmosphere, good wines and beers etc, What more could we ask for. Thanks very much and sorry to the diners who were delayed due to our number.

Lovely Sunday lunch although the service was very poor. All credit to the bar staff who were trying their hardest to please everybody. Having to wait an hour for a main course was rather disappointing

It's becoming a standing joke between Mrs T and me. I take her out for an expensive meal on our anniversary and the experience is one huge let down.TBF to the Sun and Slipper,they aren't the only ones.It seems to happen every August 30th. Why oh why don't restaurants let you know when you book that they won't have anybody on that can cook that night? Whatever, the meal was dreadful,the ambience non existent and the waitress obviously accustomed to blanking complaints. AVOID!
