Used to be the best in Wyre Forest District, but not any more! Fish dry, batter soggy. What a shame, no longer worth driving in from Bewdley!

So much better under new ownership. Food was awful under our plaice ownership.

Visited here last year and was lovely , have to say what a disappointment dreadful chips were all black batter awful won’t be visiting again and not cheap.

We have had our fish and chips from Our Place on Station Hill since it opened and initially very impressed. But recently and since James left to go on to better things, it has not been so good. We don’t use it as often, ok it was only on a Friday but now the chips are soggy and the fish average

We had outside catering for a children's party for 15. The food arrived on time, it was very well packaged & hot. We were given plenty of sauces, cutlery sets & an extra portion of chips for free. The price was excellent value for money.

Used to be my go to Chippy after moving from the Our Plaice in Hagley, but since James has left the quality of fish frying has gone down. Still a decent meal, but portion sizes have dramatically fallen, and the staff aren’t as friendly as they used to be. Still

I've been going to this chip shop for years, they knew me and I knew them. Always ready with a smile and I didn't even have to tell them what I wanted they already knew. But now the old people have gone, new cooks have been installed who clearly don't know what they are doing, just winging it with no training, experience or customer care. I thought at first it was just a bad day, maybe the regular staff were on holiday or something. I went back again only to discover the 'plaice' was getting worse and not better. The portion sizes have decreased but the prices remain the same, 'shrinkflation' it's called. Had the product remained the same I would have gladly paid a little more, prices do have to go up to keep pace with inflation. The product now is simply rubbish, they can't even cook the chips, let alone the fish. The chips I had were like the day before's warmed up and fried again. I'm really annoyed, furious in fact, whomever these amateurs are, they have ruined the best chip shop in town, what is the management doing? Did they sell up?. It's really sad that after being a loyal customer for years, I have been forced to find myself a new chippy, I doubt if I'll be the only one to do so.

OK, technically I'm banned from this chip shop because I had the audacity to complain about a previous experience that was initially ignored then completely dismissed by the owner. I have honoured the ban and haven't been since but I have had food from there with friends on a few occasions.

Seem to cook most orders on the spot, very little in the warmer and a fast turn around so all tasty and Fresh. Only the 2nf time Iv been here ad not often in the area, deffinatly my Go To chippy in Kidderminster now for sure. Great range of choices too from kebabs to fried chicken to pineapple fritters to pies and bread and butter, one of the few chip shops where you can dine in or takeaway, major bonus when your starving and the weather is £€_/= lol

We often visit the chip shop at weekends and have always been delighted with the quality of food we receive. Therefore when it came to catering for an event I was holding at Blakedown Parish rooms, it was by far the natural choice. The food for 65, arrived on time and piping hot despite having travelled some distance. Many people commented on how good the food was and we were pleased that napkins, cutlery and sauces were provided too. Greg was very understanding as the numbers changed during the day and there were other meals required which were different to the fish and chips. Would have no problem recommending Our Plaice for outside catering.

My wife popped in here for a LARGE bag of chips but when she returned home the portion was the size of a CONE.

Seems to be virtually 'cook to order' so fresh fish and chips.Served in cardboard boxes which keep food warm and make it more convenient to eat. Would recommend for takeaway.

Visited with photography friends who recommended Our Plaice when at the Severn valley steam railway 50 year since end of steam event on Saturday August 4th 2018. The chip shop opposite you'd probably see and hear of first, but so glad to be told of and have "Our Plaice" pointed out. First off both young assistants were very polite and courteous with taking order and throughout bring the meal to departing. Tea's were quick and warm whilst waiting for the food to be cooked, which didn't take too long to be brought out too us. Food was wonderful! I had pie and chips, as sold out of fishcakes, and cup of tea, all with proper plates and cutlery for £4.80 which for me was excellent value compared from my very few times at McDonald's. Friends had fish and said of how nice there meal was as well. Decent portions and well cooked, with wonderful service. Very much recommended from this visit.

Having missed my train connections late one evening, I stumbled across Our Plaice in Hagley. The owners not only helped find somewhere to rest my weary bones for the night but even found me a hotel and booked it for me, then ordered me a taxi. It arrived 20 minutes later after I ordered Haddock and chips, which gave me time to sit and eat them outside the shop on the bench. In between all this Tori the lady owner even charged my mobile which was completely dead.

Hired Our Plaice chip shop van to cater for our work summer party and so happy that we did! Gregg made the whole experience stress free and the food was cooked fresh and amazing! The fish was delicious and probably the best i've tasted for a while.

My colleague and I visited Our Plaice June last year and enjoyed our meal and decided whilst visiting the SVR we would have a late lunch again on Thursday May 3rd but this time slightly disappointed.

Absolutely love the fact that the food is cooked fresh, the one member of staff was extremely polite the fish is smaller than other establishments in the area but very nicely cooked and flaky that's where it finishes. The chips were very pale and under cooked dripping in fat and tasted of nothing , the chips laid really heavy on the stomach after eating and made me feel very uncomfortable. Portion size was a little on the small size didn't really fill you up would I go there again no.

Having recently moved to the area, we haven't tried the chippy's yet. So we decided on our plaice. The young guy that served us was so polite, respectful & efficient ( clearly has had great parenting ). The chips were outstanding, as a cook I know the spuds recently have suffered with the very cold weather, these chips had very little evidence of this .... just fresh, great tasting & crunchiness that chips should have. Absolutely yummy, we have definitely found our go to chippy.

Brought an order to take-away, smelt lovely and loved the idea of it being cooked there and then. Staff were polite and reasonable pricing for the portions- however I’d say 2/3 of our chips were blackened! (See picture-My dad will literally eat anything so he ate his). Me and my mom were underwhelmed, not very appealing at all to the consumer. Tinned roe was reported to be lovely, the cod fish was ok.

I always use our plaice about once a week. Staff are friendly and polite can’t fault anything. Shop is always clean and inviting it’s nice you have the option of eating in to.

After going to the SVR I took my 3yr old daughter for Fish & Chips. The food was much too greasy and the chips tasted re-heated. My daughter refused to eat them. Never again.

This is the third time I've tried to review this business. Trip Advisor keep censoring my reviews despite them being absolutely factual. My experience was so bad I don't think Trip Advisor believe it is real.

Visit the Kidderminster on a regular basis, personally wouldn’t try anywhere else after having fish and chips from here.They cook to order so the food is always top quality. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Very highly recommend this place.

We love our plaice when ever we're nearby at west midlands safari Cadbury world black country museum or passing on the m5 going north or on our way home to Wales from north we always detour to either kidderminster or hagley our plaice.

We live fairly close to this fish and chip shop. The quality beats all local competition hands down, particularly when cooked to order. The fish is beautifully battered (not too heavy) and perfectly cooked. The chips, again when freshly cooked are absolutely superb. I would thoroughly recommend trying Our Plaice.

No where near my top chip shop standard when based on reviews i came here from other trip advisor reviews. But i believe it is poor for for me but for kidderminster it may be ok. curry sauce was poor and i believe it was expensive overall they do accept credit cards and parking is ok

My colleague and I was visiting the Severn Valley Railway again on Tuesday 6th and I noticed Our Plaice on Tripadvisor and decided we would have lunch there and so glad that we did. Our cod and haddock with chips were cooked fresh and to perfection,beautiful crispy batter,succulent fish and chips crispy on the outside with nice fluffy inside. The service by the two girls were helpful and friendly making it an enjoyable lunch.Good value at about £6.00 fish and chips.We noticed that on the board that they also sell hake (I should have tried it), lemon sole, plaice and the type and where the potatoes are supplied from (good idea as the type of potatoes can make the difference on cooking. We are looking to visit again soon.

I still consider fish and chips as a treat, even more so now I'm on a gluten free diet. We found out that Our Plaice do Gluten Free menu Mon - Thurs 5-9 and it was delicious. They have tables inside and out to eat at and the staff were really helpful. Definitely going back soon!

Tried all of the chip shops in Kidderminster, and once we tried Our Plaice, we've not gone elsewhere. Everything cooked fresh to order, all piping hot, not warm or soggy like others. Staff are always friendly and we've never been disappointed.Highly recommend to all.

A group of us ordered from here on a wednesday evening. The food was fresh and not as greasy as other local chip shops which was great. A huge variety was ordered off the menu. Well packaged and hot when we sat down to eat. Gluen free friends were well catered for

Being a lover of fish and chips, I have eaten in many such establishments and can say that Our Plaice is up there with the best. Food is cooked to order so if you don't want to wait phone them first or pop into the pub next door whilst they fry up your food fresh.

had late fish and chips with my uncle and it was battered skin and dry looking chips chucked in a box my uncle had been twice before and they had been great but this occasion they where inedible, on asking for his money back he was told we don't do refunds so he stood there for about 15 min asking for his money back until the police came to cart him off, I didn't think he was coming back.

A little pricier than some of the local competition but the level of service and fantastic food more than make up for it. Ideally located by the train station and the Football stadium.

Jim and his team cooked up 80 meals and delivered them all piping hot and absolutely delicious! All guests at our party were impressed! I will not hesitate to use our plaice again and highly recommend the top service and quality. Our Plaice food made our party a really great night! Thankyou

These are the best fish & chips around, each and every day the same. Obviously they change the oil regularly as you NEVER have poor food, unlike most chippies. This is also a great place to sit in, the waitresses are very kind and the service is quick. Food is always red hot! a must for a good chippie.

We had just had a wonderful day on the Severn Valley Railway and needed food before we set off for home. Just down the hill from the station is this brilliant fish and chip shop. We sat down after we ordered cod and chips each and the service was great. The food was fantastic and the next time I am in the area I will definitely be going back

Had a super freshly made lunch,always cooked fresh,never left to get dry in cabinets, these are the freshest fish and chips you can get so far away from the coast. Wonder friendly staff, value for money.

Haven't been for while but the fish and chips here are lovely. Having been brought up by the coast I have always found inland fish and chip vending to be of poor quality - not so with Our Plaice.They cook by order so you have to wait a few minutes usually but it is worth it in the end.

The chips are fabulous. It's nice to eat a portion of chips & eat the whole portion instead of having to throw bad ones out. They are not tight with their portions either. You wait for your order to be cooked fresh but it's well worth the wait. High quality fish is used & good quality kebab meat too. Well worth a visit. Can eat in too. Food brought to the table. Staff are great too. They genuinely care about their customers. Need more like them.

This use to be the best chippy around by miles but recently it has allowed standards to slip. My last two visits were disappointing as despite waiting for the chips to be cooked, they were well below usual standards and were not cooked properly. I like crisp golden chips but last two times they were soggy white ones. Unfortunately if this happens next time I will have to look elsewhere. Come on check your chips and don't undercook them or lose your high rating.

Proper fish and chips freshly cooked to order. Very reasonably priced food with lots of meal deals available. We waited around 5 minutes for our fish cakes to be cooked, they are the chips were piping hot. Portions were very generous. Will definitely be return when we are visiting the area again.

Beautiful fish and chips with home made tartare sauce, absolutely lovely, you have to wait for your fish which is freshly fried in front of you, and on the notice board they add the name of potatoes they use for the chips that day, brilliant. They are my favourites and I have tried all the fish shops in Kidderminster.

Planning a long drive across country, I found Our Plaice on fishandchipsawards.com in Kidderminster. I contacted Our Plaice by email to check if they had any seating, as I was passing through and wanted to have half an hour out of the car. Their response was fast and courteous, explaining they did have some seating. They have a couple of tables accommodating about 4 people each, some bar stools, and some outside tables and chairs. The service from the chap behind the counter was excellent, he had a very professional manner in how he spoke to customers; something you don't expect in a chippy. I ordered skinless haddock and chips, with bread and butter, and a coke for approx £6.80. I took a seat and flicked through one of their many magazines. The restaurant is very clean and staff courteous. The F&C was delivered to the table about ten minutes later. The food was DELICIOUS! Proper fish and chips, cooked how I remember it from being a child in the North East. The fish was perfect, and the chips were scrumptious. The food stayed hot for a long time, and maintained their flavour. For me the portion was a little on the big side, but rather that than too small!Well done Our Plaice, if I come anywhere near Kidderminster again, I'll be sure to stop in.

I have been here three times for fish and chips now and can definitely recommend 'our plaice'. The fish and chips are freshly cooked (worth the wait), the batter is so crispy, and both the fish and the chips are not at all greasy. They are worth the price as everything is such good quality. Only thing that I am now worried about is that I have eaten fish and chips cooked in dripping each time. I did'nt realise this until I read the other trip advisor reviews. As a veggie, (non-proper veggie who eats fish), I would prefer to have my fish and chips cooked in vegetable oil next time. Would this be possible as I don't really want to go to another fish and chip shop in kiddy? Thank you

After giving up on fish and chips due to the loss art of cooking chips in the UK, I was persuaded to try fish and chips here. I was impressed that everything was freshly cooked and presented in a nice box. Yet the challenge would be the chips. Years of soggy, undercooked chips were replaced by absolute perfection. Crispy brown chips cooked with loving attention and the fish and batter were superb and fresh. Been 5 times now and every visit leaves me in Heaven. Yes you have to wait but you get the best fish and chips ever and don't end up throwing them away in the bin but gobble every morsel.

Though we are famed for our fish and chips it is often a disappointing dish, poorly cooked with no love and attention put into it. Not in this chippy. They clearly love what they do and Tori was a brilliant host on my mid afternoon visit. Good quality fish and cooked to perfection in beef dripping. Great. Tori is the third generation of the family to be involved in the business and long may they prosper.

I can say that this Chip Shop is definitely the best on Comberton Hill and perhaps the best in the whole of Kidderminster. It really is in a different league in comparison to Captain Cods, the interior is lovely and staff are polite, helpful and clean and tidy which are all great positives. Quality of food from there is brilliant too, I ordered a fish and chips from there this evening and it tasted spot on fantastic, portion sizes are good too which represents value for money. Top marks from me, Highly Reccomended

I visit here often, the food is quality, the staff are amazing, great hospitality, impeccable hygiene standards, they cater for food allergies, prices are very reasonable, a welcoming atmosphere. Every meal has been to the same high standard and enjoyed by my children and I. We highly recommend. Far more than your average fish and chip shop! Happy customers time and time again.

This was our second visit in 2015 to this chip shop having come for a ride on the SVR. It was xmas eve after catching the last train from Arley to Kidderminster we decided to revisit this establishment for Nice fish and chips that we could eat in. It holds an award winning fryer and nice staff.Complimentary cup of tea with mini fish and chips was offered. My child had the chicken nuggets and chips meal with a can of pop for £3.50 and she enjoyed it. Ketchup provided on table and food was served in a takeaway box. We will visit again next time we are in Kidderminster.

I have always found the quality of the fish and chips here second to none. The food is cooked to order so is always fresh and very good quality, though this naturally means that there will be a few minutes wait which I have always found to be worth it.Having said that I did call in a few evenings ago and there was just one lady dealing with a backlog of orders. I stood at the counter for a good few minutes without being acknowledged by the busy lady. Having had an exceptionally difficult day and being uncharacteristically low on patience I decided instead to walk out and buy a bottle of wine from Tesco for my tea which I drank whilst watching Columbo (I thoroughly enjoyed drinking my wine tea and watching Columbo, though I did fall asleep before the end).I should apologise to Our Plaice for my lack of patience that evening, for I know that if I had stuck with it I would have had some delicious top quality fish and chips to accompany my wine, and so wouldn't be having to watch Columbo all over again.The fish and chips here are EXCELLENT!! I would recommend them to anybody. I will be coming back here next Columbo night!!!

We used the mobile van for our christmas party and it was excellent- Great Food - hot and wide choice- Great Value- Great service - served promptly and friendly service - All served in boxes with condiments and plastic cutlery packs- Catered for gluten free and vegetarian and egg allergies so we covered all dietary requirements aswell.Would recommend the chip shop and the mobile van, especially good for parties as it takes all the hassle away from you and everyone enjoys a good chip :)Will definately recommend and use again

Yes, sometimes good but sometimes awful. Chips and batter often greasy. Service mostly very very slow. Been here enough times to give a fair review. If you're walking past and want fish and chips, they're a safe bet, If you're driving to pick up, you can do much better elsewhere in Kiddy.

I visited on the Friday of the SVR's diesel gala. A friend warned me that Captain Cod had gone downhill recently, but said of an excellent one nearby. I searched while on a train and found Our Plaice. I had the most delicious cod and chips that I'd had in decades. Generous portion of good quality cod, crunchy batter, and soft yet crunchy chips. Most chippy chips I've had are like bullets and grossly overcooked.The only downside for me is that it's quite a distance from home.

The service is excellent, the boxes they use to put the food in are excellent quality as are the lovely paper bags that finish your purchase off. Sadly the chips were not excellent a bit dry and not very warm, the cod was a nice piece but quite greasy. I would haved liked a nice cod with hot chips wrapped in paper, save all the window dressing. .

I've lived in the area for thirteen years and until Our Plaice opened I rarely ate fish and chips here. It was something I would only eat when visiting family in the North east or when I was at the coast. The fish and chips here though are excellent and I am now a regular customer.

Even if you only want a portion of chips (which I did on this occasions) the food is always cooked fresh, I ordered mine and 2 separate people came in after me and fresh food was cooked for all of us, yes you have to wait for a few minutes but I would much prefer that to get quality freshly cooked food. I haven't found a better one in Kidderminster (handy if you are visiting the Severn Valley Railway)

Only went here for a portion of chips and they were faultless. The place is clean and tbe staff were very friendly. It looses two stars from me because management do not respond to comments, so in my book that means they are not interested in customer service. It also looses one star because the waste bin about two metres from their door was absolutely crammed full of there rubbish!

Been several times into the Kiddy shop, every time i get excellent service and most importantly top draw fish and chips. I see a couple of comments about the waiting time but me personally i would rather wait for a fish 4/5 mins than have one of the ones sat in the box for god knows how long! fresh is best for me. Ill be visiting again soon. :)

I went to Our Plaice at the end of July as a treat I thought id have cod and chips as friends said it was great there. Well what a disappointment I had to wait for such a long time for it to be cooked as they don't keep it cooked in advance.Once my order was ready the woman behind the till told me how much it would be and I could hardly hear what she said.Sorry but I won't be returning again.

We were very lucky that the chippy across the street was off-puttingly overcrowded, as this one was superb! Delicious fish and chips, good service, and tables outside for an alfresco meal on a warm summer evening.

Visited our plaice this evening and was overwhelmed with the outstanding service I received. The staff were so polite and attentive, the food was cooked fresh to order with a crispy light batter and the chips also cooked to perfection! If you want great quality traditional fish and chips, our plaice is the place to go!!

Our Plaice is the best Fish and Chip Shop in Kidderminster or should I say Restaurant as it has tables and chairs for diners to eat at.It is the second restaurant of this family run business, the first is in Hagley, Nr Stourbridge.My family and my friends eat at both Restaurants on a fairly regular basis, and have never been disappointed by the quality, quantity or prices charged.The staff and restaurant are always smart and clean. Staff are friendly and go the extra mile.The Haddock and Scampi are always cooked to order within a few minutes. Portion sizes are great. Haddock is thick and moist with a tasty crispy batter.Cant get enough of the mushy peas..yum yum!!A real winner in my book and visitors always want to eat there. Apparently the Chicken Pies are wonderful too!Thanks guys keep it up!

Superb Fish & Chips every time. We use Our Plaice at lunch time and the food is always cooked to order so is always fresh and hot. Staff are friendly and efficient, the shop is spotless. Fish & Chips are no longer a cheap meal so you might as well have the best and the best is here.

The fish and chips from our plaice are just delicious! We recently took our friends from London here and they couldn't believe the quality of the food. It is a little more expensive than some of its local rivals but you pay for the quality and the portion sizes (nearly) beat me every time.

Our Plaice really does do the best fish and chips around. The staff are always pleasant and friendly as well as efficient. The food is always cooked fresh and to a high quality and the place is spotless. woyld definately recommend Our Plaice to everyone.

For almost £6 for cod and chips, I felt the fish was far from generous and the chips were small and a bit hard. Disappointing.

Fantastic gluten free fish and chips!! Really nice batter and gluten free vinegar! No cross contamination at all. Some places offer gluten free - but use the same utensils for everything!! Great service and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

This is such a nice fish and chip shop but I went in there at lunch time and they have nothing cooked ready. It is all freshly cooked as they informed me but when you expect only a quick visit as I was in a hurry, it was a bit disappointing especially as you have to find a parking space somewhere to get to them. If you do have time to wait then the food is lovely.

This is a great Fish & Chip Shop. The batter is really crisp and the chips are not at all greasy. We have tried them a couple of times now and they are always lovely.The offer Gluten Free Monday to Thursday evenings so if you are Coeliac you can have a treat.The staff are friendly as well.

Have bought fish and chips here regularly as live close by. The estabilshment looks clean and tidy, and service is always with a smile. The sauces they do are also very tasty, and I like the slightly wider selection of fish they have unlike other local chip shops.

This Fish and Chip Shop has built a well deserved reputation in Kidderminster, where there are so many other good competitors to choose from. As well as the usual fish, they also serve Hake and Lemon Sole. Their food is properly cooked and provided in good portions. It is conveniently located near to the Severn Valley Railway, where you can tuck into your food and watch the comings and goings on the railway.The eat in tables are utilitarian and probably not worth bothering with.

If we have a takeaway fish 'n' chips supper, normally we use the one opposite the railway station, Captain's Cod, but due to the lack of parking space, on this occasion we tried Our Plaice.The fish was good, quite flaky, maybe a little dry, but the chips were really dry and powdery, not moist like you might expect and want. Also, we had a curry sauce and that was very bland almost as though it had been diluted too much.All in all, not a great experience, I will stick with Captain's Cod in future.

Came here on the way back from a day out near the Severn Valley Railway (the Kidderminster station is about a 5 minute walk away) after hearing the owner interviewed on BBC Radio 5 Live. We had cod and haddock and they were both superb. Staff are friendly too. Not many tables or public facing toilet facilities, as it's mainly a takeaway service. Unfortunately on the night we visited, a riot kicked off outside as the local football ground cleared out! It's good, but made us realise how good our local chippy (Peter's Pan in Barnt Green) is more deserving of an award.
