We have been here 2 times this year including Valentines Day. Always great food and good service. The food is fresh and cooked to order with excellent tastes. Nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is always busy, the staff work hard and no real waiting, just be realistic when busy. Will always keep going back here.!!!

Did go there with my family. We were most disappointed they were so miserable and moody .the food was disgusting wasn't fit for my dog .they rushed us .I will never go there again and I wouldn't recommend.

We come here maybe once a month and get a takeaway now and then but every time we have food from here it’s delicious. The staff are so friendly and kind. Would deffo recommend to anyone looking for a good Chinese.

Called in here on the off chance and had a brilliant experience. Really friendly service, delicious food and speedy service. The all-you-can eat menu is extensive and really good quality. It's £26.50 per head Sunday - Thursday and £28.50 on Friday & Saturday. It's mostly Chinese food but there are also Thai and Japanese dishes. Highly recommend!

This place was recommended by a colleague and I have to say the service was fast very accommodating and the food was absolutely delicious. I must admit after reading the reviews I was sceptical. This place was great, it was full by the time we left.

The food came very quickly and was delicious, throughout the meals the staff were very polite and modest, refusing to take extra payment and returning my partners bag to her in the rain! The people working there are very genuine and friendly, I highly recommend :D

Visited last night (On a Wednesday) around 7pm. There were a few other tables taken but no issues in having a 'walk -in' table. Had the 'all you can eat' option but went for a selection of complementary dishes to make the most of the experience rather than quantity! Really well looked after by both the owner and his staff. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and prompt. Overall, a really good experience and will be happy to come back and eat again.

My husband and I dined here last week and we had a fabulous evening full of wonderful food. The staff were all very polite and were quick to seat us and take our orders. We both a few starters each, and asked for smaller portions, the yuk sung was amazing. Then we ordered a couple of mains each and sides. This is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been too and love that you can try lots of different dishes and it’s all cooked fresh!

On delivery, the bag was overloaded, split and items were missing from our order. After calling the missing items were sent 20 minutes later. I would rather they have remained missing. Lettuce in the yuk sung was translucent, split and clearly not fresh, it resembled left overs swept into a bag. Half of the order was cold, the rest lukewarm. Spring rolls were burnt and the sweet and sour chicken balls had two random pork balls in there. The chicken and cashew nuts was not sent, but was prawn and cashew nuts instead. Great if you don't eat pork and have an allergy to shellfish. The entire meal was garbage and went into the dustbin.

Wonderful service from staff that are warm and welcoming. Great food, freshly cooked and served quickly. We would recommend to all.

The quality of the food from Summer Palace has gone very badly downhill. We ordered a takeaway and it arrived on time. The Prawn Crackers were great, the Cheese & Prawn Spring Rolls were also great, but then everything else was rather bad. The Mini Vegetable Spring Rolls were soggy and cold. I ordered Steamed Salmon Fillet in Lemon Grass Sauce and received Salmon Fillet in Szechuan Hot and Spicy Sauce instead – really far too spicy hot for me. The meal got thrown away. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken was extremely dry and freezer burned. The meal got thrown away. The Chicken Chow Mein was okay, although there was not much chicken in it. The chips were soggy – needed to be crispened up in the oven, defeating the object of getting a takeaway. By the time the food was delivered the restaurant had closed for the evening so I could not phone them to get replacement food. A waste of money. Very disappointed.

just returned from the summer palace studley with my wife, son and his Girlfriend its her 18th birthday today food is served on a buffet style which costs a £ 26.50 per person. When trying different dishes to find out which ones you like we were told you can order anything from the starter and main menu's, we ordered four different dishes from starter and main. when we tried to try other dishes as this is a buffet style restuareant we were rudely told no as we were wasting food. the answer was we all simply didn't like the selection we had chosen but this is a buffet and many more dishes were available and at £26.50 per head we simply had no other choice.And was told in a undermining tone to eat up first. we asked for replacement water, first came with ice and lemon the other refills came with no ice .definitely would not recommend, well over priced, very very rude staff DO NOT VISIT HERE

Very poor food and customer service Ordered to be delivered, the wonton said served with sweet and sour sauce for dipping . No sauce rung to ask where it was they put the phone down, you could hear them talking in the back ground for over 15mins till it rang off , as it was they were so over cooked and chewy they ended up in the bin, opened the prawn crackers very very stale they ended up in the bin .so if you are thinking of ordering don't bother they don't deserve your custom the way they treat their customers

Inedible. Painfully salty. Curry sauce was powdery and the salt burnt my tongue!! Crispy beef was chewy and fatty. Food was cold. Nasty. Won’t be returning.

My first ever complaint. Im actually usually very opposed to negative reviews on businesses as everyone can have a bad day but my son and his friends were just at Summer Palace, a restaurant we have been using for 15 years yet this evening, the owner became incredibly irate that my son and his friends were ordering too much food. I think around 16 dishes in total. He became abusive and aggressive and grabbed them and threw them out. My son called me and I drove down and spoke with the owner who told me that they were ordering too much food only 15 minutes before they close. I told him we can fix that and never order from them again. He swore at me and told me to get out hence why I am going the extra step of posting here. Shocking treatment from an eatery that was completely empty and needs orders to keep the doors open. I will never use them again which is a shame, ive ordered from them at least once a month for the last 15 years.

Excellent night - great food, good friendly service, the best Chinese in the area. Great value and quick service, quality of food was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Firstly, they do not express that they also have a meal menu, nit just a buffet menu, so you could well be misled into paying the buffet price of nearly £27 each then all you want is one dish not several! Secondly, the meals were out in 5 mins, nit freshly cooked, luke warm, not particularly tasty at all like the dishes we had should be and portions were not very big at all costing £14 a piece! Not on!! Thirdly, I had not even finished my drink and they took it when I wasn't looking. Very rude! Lastly, 2 out of 4 of us had finished and they took all our plates while others were still eating. Rude!!! Oh and one more thing, I booked a table and I wasn't even in the book! Organised?? Obviously not!! Never Would I return or recommend!!

Had food to take away, and really did not disappoint. In particular enjoyed the Kung po prawn, prawn toast and the ribs. Definitely recommend the food!

Where do I begin. The food was exceptionally poor with tiny portions. I ordered crispy duck and pancakes and it was awful, very dry nothing crispy about I just did not eat it when the owner cleared the plates my partner mentioned to him that the duck was very dry and that is why I had not eaten it he was so so rude telling us he was the owner no one else had complained and it was crispy duck and we could leave if we wanted to. The customer at summer palace is obviously always wrong in his eyes and never right. We finished up with a prawn dish for my p[artner which he said was ok and Thai green chicken curry for me it was more like a chinese curry with tomatoes in just not enjoyable. The price was £28.50 per person it is just not worth it and the food certainly does not warrant the price. Having now read the reviews on trip advisor I realise I am not alone in my thinking and I like many others will not return.

Came here this evening with my partner the food and service was top notch. We ordered so much food for the two of us and every plate of food was delicious. Service was outstanding and would definitely recommend this place to anybody who enjoys a nice Chinese.

Worst evening ever! The staff were horrendously rude, I would’ve given this place a 0 star review if that were possible. A man and a woman staff member shouted at us in front of the restaurant because we weren’t happy with the service. Food took an hour and a half because the woman forgot to place the order, then half the food didn’t turn up. Never ever visit this restaurant, we won’t again.

IGNORE ALL GOOD REVIEWS!! Regardless of the quality you may think of the food. (I personally wasn’t impressed with it). The staff here are terrible. Me and my friend walked in and felt extremely unwelcomed. We explained we hadn’t been before and wanted to try new things. (Why most people enjoy bottomless buffets). We ordered duck and yuk sung for our starter, huge portions for a starter so unfortunately we couldn’t eat it all. We told the waiter we had finished and was ready to order our mains. Several members of staff came over to tell us we had left too much of our food. We explained we had eaten enough and they was not happy. We went on to order our mains : curry, rice, sizzling duck(pure fat) and sweet and sour chicken. These portions were smaller and we shared between 2. We didn’t like the sweet and sour chicken. It came out cold so we didn’t eat that portion. We also left half of our curry and most of the duck as it was all the fat and no meat. We told the waiter we had finsihed and would like to order just 2 portions of chips. He said no because we had orderd too much food already and hadn’t eaten it. Another 2 waiters came and complained to us about leaving this food. They did not care that it was cold or that we simply had enough. We felt that we had to hide the food we left on the plait so they didn’t shout at us again. They continued to ignore us leaving our plates on the table. They said if we don’t eat all the food the chef shouts at them. This made us feel very uncomfortable. We asked the man if we could go outside for a vape before any of our food came he pulled a face and hesitantly said okay. We were then chased outside by another 2 members of staff asking what we was doing. They had everyone in the restaurant looking at us making us feel guilty that we couldn’t finish our food. I’m truly shocked by the way we was treated here and would not recommend it to anyone. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I then asked to speak to a manager and she said no, at this point we paid and left. I’m very upset that I have wasted my money on these people.

I have been a customer of this restaurant for over 20 years and every place has its odd wobbles. This is the second really awful meal We had the a’oeuvres and crispy duck which were ok but the sweet and sour chicken was tasteless and overcooked and the fried rice more like boiled rice with a bit of scrambled egg in it. I really hope they get a new chef and soon

Poor Placed order at 6.10m. Advised delivery would be between 7.10 and 7.30pm. Delivery charged for. Order arrived finally at 8pm, excuse was its been raining! Thai green curry, consisted of chicken, tomatoes, aubergine, courgette, mushrooms ! More like Italian,with a bit of curry powder! Absolute joke. Will never use again, no idea!

Very busy restaurant. Good job we booked as tables were already filling up at 6 pm. Water and waitresses were very good and efficient and child friendly. We were not aware of the system, which is order what you wish and continue with re-orders if still hungry. We ordered hors deuvres starters which were average but small portions. Then crispy duck and pancakes. This was poor. Not crispy duck, as no skin and the duck was obviously cooked and shredded in advance, as it was quite dry. We then ordered mains, which were hot and they did Singapore noodles as a special one off. Even though the portions were small, we were soon full ( one of us has only 1/3rd of a stomach.) as a result we did not eat a great deal so because the system is designed to keep reordering as much as you wish, it worked out expensive for what we ate. Other diners were seriously taking advantage and filling their faces. As a good point, the lady taking the money gave us a discount because of our intake, which was very kind of her.

both vegan and ordered veggie dishes (obviously) they bought out meat yuk sung which looks very similiar which we then started to eat and then found out. They gave us a pitiful discount after my fiancee went to make herself sick. They then charged us twice as said payment hadnt gone through then couldnt really work it out even though i had proved that the money had been taken. Sad thing is this has happened before with the meat but decided to give them a second chance. We will not be going back.

Booked for a birthday celebration for family of 7 on a very hot Saturday evening. Food and service was perfect! Staff were attentive but not overbearing and the quality of the food was amazing. So many starters and main courses and asked if we wanted any more before moving on. Was a busy night but very relaxed and live the round tables for being part of everyone’s conversation on the table wish more restaurants would have them. After we had left they called the person who booked to say one of the party had left a bag under the table so we returned and they brought it out to us. Thank you for such a great evening!

For some reason the service here has gone down the pan since reopening. There is no baby change so we had to change our baby in a corridor, so definitely avoid if you have kids. Both waiting staff were rude and made us feel as if we were disturbing them when we asked to order our mains after half an hour of waiting. Really disappointed, particularly considering the price - which we wouldn’t mind paying if either the facilities or the staff were even mildly reasonable. Food was below par - the crispy duck had considerable bone in it and the chicken fried rice was actually just boiled rice with a bit of chicken put in at the end. I’d give this one a miss if you can.

Used to use summer palace a long time ago and although it was very expensive you could guarantee you'd have a five star meal. We noticed the summer palace was on uber eats so decided to order takeaway, well it has obviously changed hands as the food was unbearable to the point after tasting it we scraped it into the bin, reheated, poor quality and horrible tasting is the only way I'd describe it, prices aren't cheap either and also there was an item missing from my order. I'll put it down to experience and will never eat at this place again and I'd advise not to waste your money here either, what an absolute shame as this place used to be the go to chinese restaurant.

Ordered a couple of takeaways from here during lockdown. Love the food and the service from the staff, definitely my favourite place to order takeout from.

The food here is tasty and made fresh to order. There is a great selection of dishes available on the menu and also many vegetarian dishes too. Our waitress was very friendly and service was quick. We have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Can definitely recommend.

We visited summer palace for a family meal. The restaurant is the best Chinese buffet I have been to. You can order as much as you like and it is bought to your table, if you want more then that it is not a problem. The food arrived hot and freshly cooked and plenty of it. The restaurant has clear COVID rules with signage and mask wearing and hand sanitiser available. All staff are friendly and very helpful. When we visited the restaurant it was extremely busy, but this was not a problem as the staff coped very welland still made time to check on alltheir guests. Can’t wait to visit again.

Food is average, the male waiter was extremely rude, must have got his attitude from the female owner as she’s just as bad. His eye rolling was second to none, huffing and puffing when you were ordering. Missed off plenty of food we ordered. Drinks were flat, and it’s the first buffet I’ve been to where you’re rationed on food. Food came out in dribs and drabs. 5 people ordered chicken balls and only 5 balls came out...1 per person! The group we ate with weren’t even half full and they told us they were closing the kitchen. Won’t be going back.

This is the first buffet where the waiters and owners are actually rude if you don’t finish your plates! About a year ago I was actually told that I was wasting their food as I didn’t manage to finish a couple of the small main course selections!That frustrated me but my most recent visit left me seething. Some food that was ordered didn’t arrive, and when I chased the items the waiter literally huffed and puffed and rolled his eyes at me because I pointed to the wrong number for a split second when he asked what was missing! I wouldn’t mind if it was a one off but I always seem to leave feeling agitated with the way we are treated!After checking the bill we were charged for drinks that didn’t arrive, and when we chased them we were charged again! Not only that but we were charged £4.30 instead of £3.40 per pint on the bill as the waiter had written the price down wrong. To make it worse the pints are only three quarters full as I think they charge you for a pint of cider, but pour a regular shop bought can into it.The female waitress was helpful but the waiter and owners are so rude and I will never return again. The food made me come back twice but unfortunately good food is NOT worth being spoken to in that way. It’s not surprising that every time I drive past it is nearly empty!

We are new to the area and we enjoy the the occasional Chinese meal out so thought we would try "Summer Palace", what a great choice. Plenty of parking and a greeted by friendly staff on arrival. The menu has plenty of choice and variety and you simply order what you want (within reason) and its all freshly cooked and we experienced really quick and efficient service, however wouldn't have minded if it had have been slower to be honest, as the food was worth waiting for.. We had a lovely evening there and we'll priced, we will definitely return again. Thanks all at Summer Palace and keep up the good work..

Don't expect 5 star dining, but for fab food and value for money this restaurant gets 10 out of 10. Didn't feel rushed , allowed us to order as much as we wanted , staff were very hospitable

Me and my friend went for buffet menu , the manager come over and asked why we didn’t finish all dishes we explained the crispy chicken was poor quality , so we chose something else he brought it and told us not to complain again , we also asked for tap water , and when bill came he tried to charge us £43 when it should of been £37 charged us £6 for water , gave the girl £41 for arguments sake , and left only for manager to try and rip my car door off and take my keys , I told him to get off my car and drove off , then he threw something at my car , worst customer service I have ever had in my life , quite frankly the man is a nutter !!!

Tried here after downfall of the Red Chamber in Redditch.Very pleasantly surprised - after reading reviews, was a bit concerned - felt welcome from entering front door.Staff very friendly - food was well cooked, hot and very tasty - and you could order what you wanted (all starters if you wish) - a good choice on the menu, although no soups available (there is on the takeaway menu) - price is about right and drinks not over priced.Had a really good meal - will definitely be coming back and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys chinese food. A very satisfying meal - look forward to coming back.

Great service, great prices, great food.We all loved everything we ordered and ate. Drinks were good, my French coffee at the end was delicious too.Very busy as New Year's Eve, had to wait a while to be seated even though we were booked in. Once seated looked after extremely well. A welcome drink on waiting for your table would of earned this place 5 star.

Excellent variety on menu. Good food. Good atmosphere. Very busy but service was ok. Would recommend.

Extremely Rude Male server, which is a shame as food quite good.. but Will never return due to their very poor service

We attended with 8 people the owner first welcome was questioning us how old the children were!!! He was rude and very abrupt, not a nice welcome at all. We went to sit down and decided to walk out as a result the way he spoke to us!! Also the place smelt damp! Avoid this place, we have been before and the lady owner was abrupt and rude to us last time, but we thought we would try again maybe she was having a bad day. No they just are rude owners!!!

first off all it’s an all you can eat buffet as they say and what you pay for !!

I visited this restaurant a few days ago. I was concerned about it, having read some of the comments on here before going. I was part of a large group, seventeen I think, so I was unsure what to expect.

Difficult to get food that everyone likes, however in this instance the buffet selection was brilliant as everyone, children included got something they like, as with the mains everyone tried different meals & expanded their culinary experience.. Thank you to everyone @ the summer palace, the food was excellent, as was the service from the staff, we had a lovely meal & time with the family... thank you

This restaurant is beyond dreadful since it has changed hands from the former owners the Lok family a few years ago.

My sister and I visited some months ago while visiting our mother in hospital.

Ordered a take away from here last night on recommendations from people we know NEVER AGAIN we collect our food to get home and find the duck had been microwaved to death was hard and chewy the pork balls we ordered was just battered

4 of us went for a girls night out last night and we had a fabulous night. The food was fresh and hot and the staff were so pleasant and kind. We had a great night out and will be returning very soon.

Ingredients not fresh, BBQ pork was dry, even the noodles they use here are not authentic. Really disappointed considering the staff are Chinese (though I don't think the owners are). They should know better and do better.
