It's closed and boarded up. Devastated as we've been going there for 35 years

Went for the first time February 17th. Good food. Unfortunately now closed and boarded up.

Food and service was absolutely brilliant, finished everything which is unusual, if you haven't been yet give it a try.

Fantastic service, looking forward to going back soon.

Foods great but wouldn’t waste your time if you’re ordering for delivery. 2 hours is the usual wait time and every time you call they tell you they’re just packing up your order. Could get to India quicker than waiting for a delivery

Ordered take away which came as expected, slightly over their max time but it’s what it is - However we ordered a 1.25L of coke and what came was 3 x 330ml cans, substitutes are to be expected but you’d atleast round up or take it off the menu, peeved slightly

Always loved this place. Been here not so often but over decades and had always been very good.

Wickford highstreet is crying out for a decent Indian restaurant for dine in and Sultana is the only choice! Good selection of curries available, I always love Chef specialities/recommendations and enjoyed the Chicken Hyderabad. The staff were keen to talk about the food and offer suggestions. The waiting staff are warm and welcoming, always checking in on us and the food came swiftly. Unfortunately the men's toilet was in a state, broken plumbing and water on the floor. Friendly owner keen to talk to us and had grand plans for the future, thanks for the complimetary drinks and see you next time 👍

Had Sunday dinner takeaway tonight food very tasty as usual compliments to the chef slight mishap with an item and manager drove out himself with item and didn’t take wrong item back very good service there we ate there last Sunday for buffet menu and food was cooked fresh from menu not sitting around in hot plates Which again was tasty food staff very polite management have decent conversation so I would recommend this restaurant to eat in and takeaway Thanks

Excellent!! Manager is a blast, staff are amazing. I used a different takeaway, until recently and have changed to the Sultana. If you leave without trying the lamb chops, bad shout! 😉

Food was very nice but the service needs to be a lot sharper! Good menu with competitive prices.

First time we've had a takeaway from here and it was yummy. The staff were lovely and friendly and the restaurant itself looked very nice. Will definitely be back and have a restaurant meal.

The welcome was great from the time I booked the table on the phone. entered the restaurant and found the staff to be really nice, the food was excellent and although I have another Indian restaurant nearer, I will continue to use Sultana from now on, I found the whole experience a great deal better than the restaurant I used to use, Karim and the staff provided a great service, thank you sultana.

We ordered the home buffet for our mum and dads 40th wedding Anniversary and OMG it was amazingly set up, the food was lovely and plenty of it. Would highly recommend 😊

Terrible service over priced drinks food nice when actually arrived never go back.

Been there twice in the last week and loved everything about it, from the lovely food to the friendly staff, they go the extra mile to make it a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely reccomend!

don't order on line from this place, 2 1/2 hours still no food when wife phoned was very rude to her, will certainly never order from here again, only gave one star because I couldn't post with none, order cancelled.

Extremely rude and arrogant order never arrived and continued to talk over me on the phone.

Verbally violent waiter. I was asking for a particular dish and because of him struggling to write it down he said "I'm going to hit you in a minute". We should have walked out.

Like any Indian can be a bit hit and miss but on a whole it's very good

Food is very good but service is terrible. Went Saturday we had booked for 7pm but wasn’t seated till 7.20pm after they asked the previous dinners to take there drinks to the bar, then we didn’t get our food till 8.30 pm. When we protested the staff then blamed each other and the boss blamed the other customers. My view is when you book a table well in advance your table should be reserved, and the management should be more organised.

Five stars for the food, cannot fault it. However, the service was terrible. We arrived at 7.40 and didnt get our mains until after 9pm. The reason was given initially that they "were giving us space" and then "you ordered after everyone else". When ordering, my partner asked for a dish and there was a little confusion. The waiter jokingly (I hope) said "I'm going to have to hit you in a minute" This is totally unacceptable. I've contacted the restaurant and had no response at all about this complaint. Such a shame, as the service really lets the menu down.

Good Food and friendly atmosphere. Has recently changed hands 7months ago and Ash is very welcoming and friendly. Recommended.

Sultana is now our regular restaurant and we do not even live local but Ash and the team make the journey worthwhile. Felt for Ash last night, it was so busy with table and takeaway dining he seemed to be doing every job going but had time to say hello and make sure everything was OK. We did book (always do now). Party of six came in and staff asked if we would move tables so they could cater for them - not a problem. Food was slightly delayed but as always was worth the wait - I am sure Ash actually cooked it, he was that busy!!!! As always we had a great night at the Sultana and can not wait for the next visit. My favourite - Chicken Madras wrap as a Starter!!!

Was recommended to order here. Food was late and missed an item off our order. Rather than send a replacement we were told they would take it off our next order! They were let down by their delivery driver which I can appreciate but the food itself was awful. My partners pasaanda tasted like the smell of a fire that had been put out. No flavour and greasy. Will not be going back. Shocking.

Disgusting. We live next to back of this restaurant and all you hear on a regular basis, particularly in the evenings, is a certain member(s) of staff outside hacking up a load of phlegm and snot in their throat and mouth, then spitting it out. Not really what we want to hear when trying to sit down to eat at home. This has been happening for a few years and it needs to be mentioned. Absolutely rank. If this is what staff are doing at back of the restaurant, what the hell are they doing whilst preparing customers food? Disgusting, makes us want to gag every time we hear it

This restaurant went downhill very quickly and used to be superb and then one day it was terrible I usually order the same dishes everytime and they kept sending something different. Since the new management took over i have tried it twice and I have to say it wasn't great but I have had much worse in and around Wickford.

Lovely food but very disappointed with some of the service .my daughter had a tray if drinks tipped over her and didn't even get an apology .then there only seemed to be one very tall Indian man serving and two young boys who were all running around trying to serve a very busy restaurant

Very enjoyable night at sultana restaurant, with my family, food was great service was friendly, I recommend this establishment for good night out.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem - fantastic food and well-priced. Very busy for a mid-week visit.

As always a delicious meal, attentive staff no wonder is was busy for a Wednesday evening!

I can not say enough about the food. The currys are not swimming in oil which is always a plus. The staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs without being over bearing. The decor is a bit tired and could do with an update. However saying that I go there for the food not the decor. Well worth a try.

Taking facebook reviews at their word we turned up here for dinner, surprised to find we were the only ones eating at Sultana. It didn't take long to figure out why. Not a good experience over all, although they are getting some things right. The service was good, the dining room (though a little tired decor-wise) was very clean and well presented and the breads were very nice. However, that was where our luck ran out. The most egregious fault was being served a paneer tandoori that was burned on one side and flipped over on the plate (very disappponting). Most of the onions on the hotplate were black and like charcoal. OK... even professional chefs burn things sometimes... But don't then send them out to the customer! We sent the food back and it was recooked - much better but BLAND - a word that sums up most of our dinner. The lamb stir fry was lacking in flavour. The cubes of meat in the tandoori mixed grill were tough, dry and tasted of grill but not at all of lamb or chicken. The best element of the tandoori platter was the chicken leg - it was the most flavoursome thing we ate. If you are eating here, just get tandoori chicken and be happy. Maybe we are spoiled for Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine as we come from Manchester and eat out in Rusholme twice a week... And if you live in Wickford and want to eat curry you might not have a lot of choice, but I didn't eat anything here that I couldn't have cooked better at home. Save your money and buy a Bangladeshi cook book.

Had an okay lamb vindaloo which wasn't insanely hot, the lamb however wasnt great. Mixed it with a not very good sag aloo. To this had a delicious garlic naan bread. Venue was nothing fancy but cosy with a table by the windows. Good value for the money as a dinner for two with alcohol was less than £50.
