Sultan Fine Indian Dining in Carmarthenshire

With take always in Llanelli, they are rushed and taste like they came out bulk. With this food, it has no hairs or germs and tastes wonderful,the staff was great and didn't mind having a conversation. Although the food was a little slow, it's worth it and the bad reviews are not actually true. Nice sides aswell of the decour.

Really disappointed tonight, we’ve used this restaurant many times, eaten in, collected and had deliveries. I’d noticed they’d reopened and wanted to offer our support. We ordered on just eat at 6.05pm and the delivery was scheduled for 7.20pm (longer than advertised on the initial page of just eat but we didn’t mind given that everywhere is busy under the circumstances.) No sign of food, called up at 7.50pm to be told that our food was waiting for the driver to come and get it and it would be on its way to us. We called again at 8.35pm as there was still no sign of the food, again to be told the food was ready and waiting for the driver. If the restaurant were truthful in this then the food had been sat waiting for at least 45minutes... the food finally arrived at 8.50pm, seemingly hot and fresh. We would’ve appreciated an honest answer from the restaurant, we understand that it’s a busy time but that kind of service is unacceptable regardless of circumstances. Such a shame.

Absolutely vile food and staff I couldn't get off the toilet after it I never felt so Ill in my life neither did my husband

Went for buffet last year all the curries tasted same. Just got home in time and was on toilet 1/2 the night. Would never go again

Popped in for lunch last Sunday, first time here in it's current guise. Limited menu, but 6 curries, 2 rice, 2 vegetarian dishes, a chutney tray and poppadums is enough variety for most people I would imagine. I would not call it fine dining, but for a provincial town, on a Sunday, it was excellent. Decor and cleanliness were both very good, and staff were professional and attentive. 2 of us ate for just under £20, and I would not have expected better food for £50, we will definately go back the next time our shifts give us a Sunday off together.

Been as part of a group of four calling every Friday night for the last few months . Found the staff very friendly and go out of thier way to help. Excellent service second to none . Been trying various dishes both English and Indian like fish and chips, steak, Indian mixed grill and various curries. Found the food to be excellent, piping hot and never had a bad meal . Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This venue has never failed to produce an exceptional evening . Good value, great choice . The Snooker Squad.

Went for a sunday buffet recently just myself and my partner, food very average not much choice, luke warm, some cold. Chips were awful like they had been in there for hours and when I mentioned it I had a lovely eye roll from the member of staff. Wish we had gone elsewhere although we have had previous take away that have been lovely such a shame. 7.95 per person is fairly cheap but I would rather pay £2 more and have a much larger variety and fresh food! Also the rubbish outside this restaurant was disgusting, all bags ripped and salad and other food items all over the car park

I have driven past this restaurant many times in the last year and thought I should try it out. We went on a Sunday for a buffet. Every dish I had was awefull. Warm, sweet tasting curries, cold pakora. Strangely textured chicken tika. The staff member present did ok I suppose and the price at £7.50 per head wasn’t excessive. I can’t see why I would want to return. Maybe the non buffet food is better.

The exterior of this restaurant is rather unpromising, but once inside you feel you’re in the capable hands of people with good taste. The decor is elegant (see photos) and the staff friendly. I ordered a salmon tikka starter which was lovely, lightly crisped outside and succulently marinaded to perfection. My chicken madras main course was also perfect, spicy but not overpowering its well-blended herbs. With parking available at the rear, this restaurant is a real gem.

Ordered a takeaway through Just Eat - food arrived early and was of a high quality. Much better than some other local Indian takeaways I have tried. Will definitely use again!

We orderd food it came a little late But it was cold. Tasteless And no chicken in the chicken biriani.. Waist of money and will never order from there again......

Often have takeaway from here. Always fresh. Always tasty. Chicken Dhansak and Chicken Balti are perfect. Naan is always light and fresh too. Delicious. Friendly team there also.

Ordered a take away whilst staying in an apartment in Llanelli. A variety of dishes were ordered to suit all tastes. From lamb Korai to chicken tikka masala. The dishes were extremely bland and tasted as though the meat and sauces were cooked totally separately. An experience I’d not like to repeat. Total waste of money in truth.

A very rude welcome, the typical 'have you booked' and a roll of the eyes when you say 'no'..... yet only one other customer there.

Decided to try a different restaurant for a takeaway on Saturday night.Phoned order in for collection - was told 30 mins.On entering restaurant was impressed with furnishings, cleanliness and politeness of staff. However,despite there being only 3 couples eating, and no deliveries going out, apart from 1 person ahead of me collecting,my order had not been started on, had to wait in the restaurant for 25-30 mins for it to be cooked,no communication til I stood up,to be advised would not be long.The price is reasonable and choice good for vegetarians, but the quality of food was a major let down for me.Food was very watery and bland.My tarkha dahl was very watery and tasteless,poppadums hardly any salt/taste and the lamb very chewy. Unfortunately,I would not recommend this restaurant.Service too slow despite a very quiet night-would have overlooked that if the food had been good.Will not be back; will stick to the other Indian restaurants in Llanelli, there are much better ones to use.Very disappointing-especially when there is so much better in town.

We had a family celebration here and were squashed into a long table. There was no room for our drink and the waiters were unable to place the hot trays down, so scraped my rice on my plate for me ! Food was bland.

Ordered a meanthrough just eat last night my partner had the prawn korma and I had the mirchi roshun balti - lamb tikka. Both dishes were full of flavour and bursting with flavour the korma has a very nice taste not like the sweet milk task you get in other places. The nan was very good and the keema rice. All in all the service was friendly and very welcoming and very good value for money. £20 for 2 mains, 1 pilau rice, 1 keema rice, 1 brinjal banji, 1 nan, 4 popadums and mint sauce. For a first time visit I would highly recommend others visits to try :)

We hosted a charity curry night at the Sultan on Wednesday and the Staff went above and beyond to make the evening a success. The food was exceptional and the kindness shown by the manager Mohammed wonderful. Thank you so much.

We went as a group of 11 to the Sultan for my daughter’s birthday.

Turned up to find no drinks licence. Shocking service. Booked & when we arrived we were told we had to get our drinks next door. Disgusting.

Very good Indian restaurant which have a good selection of Indian meals and are reasonably priced. Service was good and food arrived in good time.good location with a short walk from the cinema. Good place for friends get together

By far. I think I've tried them all. Sultan is fresh, great quality ingredients. Very kind portions and lots to choose from. Always have a great meal from them. The team there are friendly also. I'd recommend the Chicken Balti, and Special Byriani. Beautiful.

We were booked into an hotel for an evening meal, but there was a wedding on, so we looked for an alternative. Checked trip advisor and saw Sultan Fine Indian Dining was close by.

first time to experience sultan, on entering it was very nice surroundings but was very disappointed with bufffet . all the dried foods (bhaji, chips nan, chicken tikka tandoori wings) were ok but the curries were like water. Not happy. Think i'll stick too my usual takeaway, New Adnan tikka. It u want quality go adnan.

Staff are great and greeted us with smiles on way in and were very attentive. Food was very good from the chutney tray to the main meal. I would highly recommend this place to couples and larger groups.

Went recently with friends,lovely meal and very reasonably priced,good menu,we will return...The venue is quite small would be advised to pre book if week end,but recommend this restraunt...and they have smashing friendly staff look for Mohammed.

Visited twice this month. First time the main meals were watery with poor thin slices of meat.

We were a party of nineteen for a birthday celebration and had the Sunday buffet.Everybody enjoyed the taste and quality of the food.Great selection and refilled continuously.Something for everybody with the added bonus of included desert.The birthday girl had a sparkly candle for her cake and a drink from the bar.Fab waiters,so attentive.Great experience.

Staying for one night in Llanelli and we both fancied a curry. This restaurant is 400 yards from a Wetherspoons, and it was curry night, but are we so glad we took the trouble of finding Sultan.

We popped in for a meal this evening and it was the tastiest Indian meal we have had in a long time. We've been here a few times and have never been disappointed but tonight it was exceptionally good

Popped in early evening, nobody else there, nice decor. Food was OK, had a spicy lamb tikka with chilli's, only found one chilli though! Vegetable rice was nice, poppadoms and chutneys were OK too. Friend was a bit disappointed with the Lamb curry.

Our second great experience of food at the Sultan. Staff are friendly and obliging. Food presentation is great and food is wonderful. Fast becoming our favourite Indian Restaurant.

Ordered a takeaway, chutney tray only had coconut cake mint, onion Bhanu starter inedible tasted sour and uncooked, went in the bin, lamb pasanda ok, edible but not great, naan cold and limp. Kids had chicken korma which they are. Will not use again.

Went here whilst in Llanelli for work. The place was empty on a Tuesday evening, although 3 others came in whilst we were eating. Overall though the food was ok. Popadoms were soft, and were replaced when asked. The Tawa Tikka curry was very nice as was the rice and tarka dhal. Really reasonably priced (which was great). Probably would go back. Staff friendly enough.

Very impressed with the service, quality and price of our meal on a Friday night in Llanelli. We didn't book and even a table of 5 at 8 o'clock was no problem for the helpful staff. We received quick, tasty food within half an hour and the spicy lamb chops were the hit starter. Dishes were piping hot to the touch, a good sign, and tasted freshly cooked. Very reasonable prices for large portions ... we will be back!

Visited here for the first time on Saturday evening.it was quiet and had a table easily.service was quite slow considering it was quiet. it took quite a while before being offered drinks then another wait to order a chutney tray...However the food certainly didn't disappoint.very generous portions were served and the quality was excellent.had a pleasant evening in nice surroundings will definitely give the restaurant another go.

We called on a Tuesday night, myself, my wife and our 3 children. Our youngest is aged one and a half and she was tired, starting to moan, before ordering our meals, a staff member came out with a popadum, which immediately slienced her, this was such a nice thing to do and the gesture has gone a long way with me. As for the food, it was exceptional and the attention to detail was great too, the staff were extremely nice also. I would highly recommend this restaurant, for quality food, excellent service and nice surroundings inside. I will definitely be back. ☺

We sometimes go to an all you can eat buffet on a Sunday with our children as it's a good way to get them to try different Indian Cuisine. Some places have been such a let down but honestly this is the best place we've come across!

We were one of the first customers to try this restaurant and found the decor bright and welcoming the service was excellent and the food never fails to impress we would thoroughly recommend.

Went for the sunday buffet yesterday and it did not disappoint. Great selection of dishes which were topped up three times in the hour we were there. Staff are very pleasant and there is a nice atmosphere. Look no further when in Llanelli.

We were a table of six and were welcomed as though we were regulars.great choices and all six meals were delicious,good portion sizes too.

We hadn't booked and turned up as a table of 7 , within minutes we were welcomed and seated. The service was good, the food was Fantastic quality and very tasty, would definitely recommend and if we are in the area again we will be back.

Came her for the first time today and although there was a large selection of food we found that there was no atmosphere, some of the dishes such as chicken korma was all sauce and you had to search for he chicken whilst some of the salad items had dried out. There was a family nearby with a child playing a video game an listening to music the same time on a phone or tablet very loudly and no one asked her to turn it down, the noise of it over the top of the background Indian music playing was really overbearing. The staff don't have much to say and the food it ok but not the best we have tasted in the area. Car parking is very narrow and difficult to park in.

This is the only indian restaurant I highly recommend . The food is consistently a pleasure on the pallet. I have been a regular customer since it opened and have always had a fantastic meal and have a lovely warm welcome from their staff every visit. I love trying new flavours , give the sultan a try

We had food here there was a great selection of very tasty Indian food and nice desserts! The price was reasonable £8.95 per head!

Visited the Sultan for a birthday party and an excellent choice it was. The large selection of buffet dishes on offer were constantly being topped up ensuring that the food was fresh at all times and not left stewing in the dishes. There were even desserts available. The staff were polite and courteous and the surroundings were pleasant. The Sunday buffet is definitely value for money.

Have visited this Restaurant numerous times with a groups friends and family (and numerous takeaways) As curry connoisseur, we all agree that this is the finest of all Indian restaurants in the area. The food is spot on to suit lovers of an Indian menu. Food is comparable to the Rasoi in Pontardulais, the wife agrees that they are experts in creamy dishes such as chicken Makhani , korma and Basanda. Peronally I prefer the hotter dishes such as Vindaloo, Dhansak, pathia. This restaurant has them all down to a fine art. Superb. Also the waiters are extreemly friendly and helpful and exceed expectation. I believe that one of Llanellis most popular indian restaurants (which i wont name) could learn a lot from these guys iro friendlines and food quality. Well done Sultan , keep up the good work. Would highly recommend both The Sultan and The Masala as my favourites in Llanelli.

Great food and fantastic choice of dishes on the menu with excellent and friendly service. Family friendly too and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Had a very tasty curry full of flavour. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I will certainly look to eat here again when I'm back in the area.

My birthday treat on New Years Eve, yet again great food and service.

Visited on New Years's Eve. Service was very slow. I had to ask to order drinks and then again to order our main meals. Had 3 different curries, masala, and a couple of specials - all almost tasted the same. Waiters were friendly and our children enjoyed their meals. However, we won't be returning in a hurry.

This was the second Charity Night that I have organised in The Sultan. It was even better than last time. I was given a wonderful vegetarian meal of stuffed peppers in a korma sauce- delicious ! The food was good. The restaurant very clean, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. They even contributed a prize to our raffle.

went here on a charity night. Food was ok but a little bland. Have had much superior curries in llanelli in different restaurants. We were quite shocked to be told we had to pay extra for poppadums after we had ordered them.

First visit here, will not be my last. Tastefully decorated in a modern style. Quick and very friendly service, and, without doubt, the best curry I have ever had in Llanelli. Deserves to get popular. You read it here first!!!

we had a charity night food was lovely but as i like a hot curry the hottest was a madras would have liked a jalfrezi or hotter . you had to order poppadoms but at no extra charge. drinks were a little expensive at £3.00 for for a vodka and coke as esprecially coke was out of a £1.99 bottle not as much variety as shown in photos

Excellent choice of dishes staff more than helpful and one of the nicest Indian meals we have had in Llanelli. A must try venue if you live in or visit the area. You will not be disappointed.

Had a lovely curry only complaint was the Coke was flat but it was changed when asked Good service and lovely charming people and will go back soon

Wonderful evening, staff could not have been more helpful, and coped with changing numbers from initial booking. Lovely buffet spread with something for everyone, and seconds as well! Highly recommended.

What a fantastic curry service is 1st class even the take away menu I live in Swansea and this has to be the best curry house in a 25 mile radius give this a try.

What an amazing place for a charity evening ! We were over 120 people but the catering was outstanding!! There was a selection of delicious dishes and really hot!! The onion bajhis were great!

I ate here alone tonight and was made to feel very welcome. This was one of the best Indian meals I've ever eaten. King prawn purée - a delicious dinner plate sized portion, Garlic Chili Chicken and a piping hot, just-baked fluffy peshwari nan. Can't recommend the food enough - beautifully cooked, full of flavour and presented really well. And the prices were really reasonable for such great food. Highly recommended.

Another really meal at the Sultan, excellent staff, food prepared quickly and piping hot. Presentation of the food is very good and sets it apart from other Indian restaurants in the town. It has a good ambience and three is no pressure to finish your meal quickly so my wife and I were able to enjoy our food and wine at our leisure. We would always choose this restaurant for our Indian meal.

We visited as a group of 25 people for a charity curry night and the food and service was superb! A great atmosphere and the staff couldn't do enough for us, lots of choice and lots of flavour. Will definitely be coming back!

In my opinion for me this is the best Indian restaurant in Llanelli, the food is outstanding. I haven't had a bad dish yet. The restaurant is so clean and the staff are so friendly and willing to help in anyway they can. On my last visit we were a large group of 35 and the speed in which they delivered out the main, I was very impressed, we were all sat eating our food at the same time and the food was still lovey and hot, not one person had complained that evening. Happy customer. :-)

Been on 3 occasions and always been quite empty when other Indian Restaurants in the area serving inferior food are full. Don’t understand it!

Sunday evening buffet was well worth a visit. There was a good choice of meals all round The food was really warm, which is not always the case in buffet style restaurants. There was even a nice choice of deserts. My friend who is a vegetarian recommended a visit as there is always a good choice of meals for her. We are not vegetarians but were pleased that we took her advice.

Hubby and I called for the Sunday buffet. It looked lovely it was set out beautifully the containers were not over full so food wasn't left to Stew in them. Staff checked the containers regularly to ensure none were empty.

Went in on a Tuesday evening thinking it would be quiet but there was a large group in there - my heart plummeted thinking it would take ages to be served, but I was very wrong.

Atmosphere very relaxing - staff most attentive and very accommodating - food superb all the dishes were well cooked and very tasty - overall an excellent night out and very good value for money. Will certainly visit again.

Excellent choice and an extensive menu. My wife had lamb tikka and the staff fully described how the meal would be served to ensure that it would meet her expectations. Poppadoms were served with a good range of accompaniments (The coconut was fabulous). Both our main courses were well cooked and well presented. The choice of puddings is good and tempting . An embarrassingly awkward customer(not the restaurants fault) was dealt with professionally and the staff unnecessarily apologised to us for the situation. If the restaurant were closer to our home we would be regular customers.

I always used to visit the Masala restaurant in West End but due to atrocious service and behavior of staff a couple of years ago (review previously submitted) I vowed to never go again and I haven't. I am now so glad that I had that bad experience there because it lead me to make a visit to Sultan. What a little gem of a restaurant this is.

This place is amazing and the Sunday buffet is excellent, really good value and amazing choice, most of the staff are very friendly and always helpful. Everything including popadums are included.

I organised a charity night, the staff were great, the room was clean and tidy as were the bathrooms, the food was lovely although some curries didn't have meat left in for the last people going up, but these were replenished. Nothing was too much trouble!!!

We went here on impulse for the sunday buffet. Every dish was lovely, freshly cooked and nicely presented. There was something for everyone and, something you dont normally see in Indian buffets, Indian sweets and a chocolate fountain! I have a worry for the place though........this was the largest, most extensive Indian buffet I have ever seen and at 3pm there were 5 customers in there (inc. us). They are really pushing the boat out in competing with other establishments and should win hands down. I hope they survive, we'll definetly visit again.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Llanelli, visit nearly every week and try different meals,always stunning whatever we order and service is first class

Good food, nice clean restaurant. The reason I haven't scored it 100% is because one of the two waiters was a little two attentive. We were the only ones in the restruaunt and he kept coming back to the table interrupting our conversation. It spoilt the evening for us as he seemed to over familiarise himself. Where as the other waiter who we recognised from when the restruaunt was the Varandah stood in the background , only to ask if our food was ok, and be on hand when we needed extras ,which was fine. It's a shame really as it had put us off returning.

An excellent meal at a reasonable price. My only issue was the price of their soft drinks - it really bugs me when restaurants put exorbitant prices on drinks. We were two so two cokes would off cost us £5 (£2.50 for a glass of coke is ridiculous) - I'd struggle to carry £5 worth of coke from Asda !!

I organised a Fund Raising evening last night at the Sultan. The food was excellent and the staff outstanding. The buffet area is very spacious. Access to all areas is flat with a disabled toilet which is a priority for this group of people. We were 82 people eating but the staff managed to keep everything running smoothly . We will definitely return.

Lovely buffet, huge range of food unfortunately I didn't get to try everything as I was too full! The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated. Would definitely go back again.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Llanelli. Always excellent flavour food, my fave dish at the moment has to be the shakuti with a side dish off chilli and mushroom rice, lovely spice, yum!! The spicy chips and onion bhajees are also really tasty. Service is excellent, always happy to help in choosing dishes and service with a smile
