take out was excellent place was busy inside and thats a good sign food was really nice will go there a sit down I'm a veggie and there was loads to choose from, every dish was ace, sticky rice was really good and the tofu was nice and crispy and the heat level was spot on.

Delicious really pleasant staff and good location of Hitchin, Exciting menu and look forward to returning very soon. 👍🏽

Avarage food. Staff rude. They pressured us to order and as we didn't order much they give us a very rude look and said : 'and?' 'ahh!' then as I didnt leave any tips when I say bye, they look at my table to see if they were any tips and they didn't reply back. I won't come back.

Wonderful Malaysian/Thai restaurant. Contemporary look about it with plenty of seating. Great menu also lunchtime menu. Good value and a fair amount of it. Great tastes and flavours. Well worth a visit, excellent friendly service.

Really lovely lunch with super friendly service. As vegetarians they were really accommodating and their tofu is that lovely puffed version! The iced tea was really nice too.

Went with my husband, the food is lovely, love the rice (nasi goreng?). Absolutely loved it! We had four courses too (including the hand made desserts🍨). We had the best time. Service was lovely too, spoke to the manager, she told me the story of why she opened the restaurant! Keep it up!

My friend and I fancied some Thai food for lunch so decided to go to Sukawatee. I am really glad we did! We arrived and the restaurant was not that busy but it soon filled up. They do a lunchtime deal where it is #10.50 for a main course which is really good value. We did not have to wait long for our food to arrive and it was really tasty. The ladies that served us were very friendly and welcoming. Very impressive and I will definitely return!

Lovely tasty food on a wintry day. My Japanese friend and I enjoyed the flavours of dumplings, rice, and sauces. Good friendly service.

Great food, great service BUT the condensation! It really needs a dehumidifier, as the air is full of condensation and has been the same for years, the windows are wet constantly with no ventilation... not good!

I believe it’s rude to lick the plate. Always like to stop in to Sukawatee if in need of sustainance in Hitchin. A warm welcome and great value testy food.

We didn't book to go here, so were very lucky to get a table, as it's so busy. The ladies working here are amazing, literally do not stop! The service was brilliant, never waited more than a few minutes for anything. And the food was out of this world. So fresh, hot and super tasty. Can not rate this place highly enough.

Tried this restaurant as reviews were good. The food was okay but not as good as expected. However the wine list was extremely disappointing; very little choice and whilst I accept there is always a high percentage mark-up on price, all appear to be purchased very cheaply in a supermarket. Although the white wine was served in a cooler the bottle was warm. Had to ask for a glass of iced water to pour into the cooler. There are better alternatives in Hitchin

Having eaten at most Asian restaurants around Hertfordshire, I decided to give Sukawattee a try and order a takeaway whilst walking past . WHAT A MISTAKE !!! The selected meals were completely tasteless without any thought to presentation too. NEVER AGAIN ..... ONCE BITTEN TWICE...

The food is always very tasty and great value for the price . The staff are really polite and hospitable and there is always quick and reliable service.

I dined the Phad Talay - stir-fried mixed seafood in a chili sauce. The prawn, squid, mussels and veg were cooked to perfection, and the chili sauce memorably delicious. I passed on my compliments to the chef. It is an interesting and rewarding meal.

Came across the gem of a resturant soon after the moved a few door down the road to bigger site. Awesome food surved in a reasonable time, presentation very good, portions larger than expected, really pleasant staff. Try and you will not be disapointed.

I love the food in Sukawatee it's delicious. However I came for a meal with a friend recently and I felt uncomfortable. The restaurant was really smoky inside to the point it was hurting my eyes. It also was very bright and noisy inside more like a canteen than a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. It's a shame as it would have been a lovely evening if the restaurant was ventilated better and wasn't so bright inside. Unfortunately these factors made us want to leave as soon as we had eaten. Lovely for takeaway but hopefully the restaurant takes such comments on board and becomes more comfortable for dinner guests. I also left the restaurant smelling like mine and all the other guests dinners - ladies, don't bother washing your hair before you go.

We ordered from Google site not realising the prices had gone up around £2 per dish which was quite a surprise when the meal was £20 more than expected! Although the dishes are very tasty, I feel they are somewhat overpriced, particularly the 3 very tiny duck spring rolls which were £6.50!

We were visiting Hitchin for the weekend and had a lovely takeaway from Sukawatee. Most restaurants were closed so we decided on a takeaway. The food was tasty, quick and reasonably priced.

Sukawatee food tastes even better when delivered home. The work they do to provide NHS lunches is even better. A true local gem and good value!

Prompt service and the driver waited in the car until we collected the meal from the doorstep. We shared a variety of mains and all of them were delicious, fresh and so tasty. We will definitely be reordering and once the lockdown is over will visit the restaurant.

At only £12.50 per head with a main, shared appetiser and a drink, it is excellent value for what you get. Not only was the food delicious (we had a pork massaman and a tofu panang), but the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were kind and attentive. I will visit here many times in the future.

The food and service are great..we have been regularly eating take out from this restaurant for years. I got a rare pass out and decided to dine in. Again the service and food was excellent. Fresh and fast..as good as any I've eaten in Thailand. However my only gripe is the lack of air con or ventilation in the restaurant which leaves you feeling like you are eating in a sauna. In fact it is so warm and damp that the windows resemble the car window in the iconic Titanic scene . I left with a full belly but also a hot sweat and hair that stunk of my dinner.

Relatively cheap dinner out, good selection of dishes and friendly staff. Often stay in Hitchin for work and this is one of the better ‘cheap eats’ in the town. Some dishes here you may not have heard of too.

Really enjoyed our family evening meal here last night. Excellent food, good for veggies and carnivores. Great staff who work their socks off serving efficiently with a smile. My son and daughter in law love this place.

My husband and I wanted to try somewhere different for my birthday so we read up on Sukawatee and the reviews recommended that we book a table to avoid long delays so this we did. We ordered a set menu meal as we were unsure what to order as the menu was vast with choices. The service was excellent but we found that this place did not suit us as everything in the set menu was a bit too spicey for us. So my recommendation is that its a good place if you don't mind spices but if you don't then steer clear.

The restaurant has moved since I last visited. It’s now larger and brighter and more modern. The service was so friendly and my main course a battered monk fish with aubergine in a gorgeous sauce was delicious. Will definitely be back.

We visited with friends for an evening get together and everything we had was excellent. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean with a modern feel to it. Be aware that their chilli rating sems a little hotter than some other restaurants which my wife found a pleasant change but one of our friends found a little hot for her taste (although she enjoyed her meal nevertheless). Will visit again.

Went here for a family meal this weekend and I cannot fault it. The starters and mains were amazing!!! Had the squid, dumplings and then a couple of different dishes for main and they were all delicious. Service was so good, so attentive. Probably the best Thai I’ve had out.

We ordered a takeaway, which took 1.5 hours to arrive. When it arrived the food was luke warm, we found 2 hairs in it and we had a dish missing. We rang to inform them and the manager was extremely rude to us.

Good value lunch, tasty food and good size portions. Friendly waitress and fast service. Will visit again!

I never normally write reviews for restaurants, but this place deserves one.

Staff are excellent and large portions. However, I felt that the decor was not authentic. I had the mango chicken. Now I am no stranger to delicious mango chicken. But I felt that this chicken was dried up and tasteless. Could be improved

Food was ok but overpriced for what is it as you need to order more than 1 dish which are all roughly £8-12. Portions differ- Vegetable Pad Thai was not enough to fill me up at all but someone els ordered noodles and got a huge plateful!

We used to live in Hitchin and eat at Sukawatee, but since moving to Scotland find good Thai cooking hard to find unless you visit Glasgow or Edinburgh. So on our last visit back to Hitchin we decided to visit Sukawatee again and we were not disappointed. The food is freshly cooked and tasty, the staff are friendly and the whole experience very enjoyable.

My partner and I often visit this restaurant for a takeaway and are never disappointed. Fresh cooked, excellent food - best green curry I’ve ever tasted. Staff always friendly and offer us a seat and crackers while we wait for our order.

First time at the new venue. Went on a Sunday night. As other reviewers have commented, I felt like I was sitting in a college refectory rather than a restaurant. Certainly not cosy and intimate.

very good food. Good menu. The food we had was very tasty indeed - best Thai I have had outside of Thailand ! I must say the duck rolls (3 tiny ones) were a little on the "short" side but the sauce was exceptional. The beef green curry had a wired name was was beef green curry in my book. First visit we just popped in, we were given a table but told they needed it back in one hour ... we were in and out within 45 mins which we felt was too rushed so we def booked for our second visit....

This restaurant used to be so much better at its old location. Whilst the food was still nice it was very oily. The worst thing about this restaurant is the environment, it is so noisy, the acoustics are really awful. The tables are a plastic Formica without table cloths. I get the whole contemporary thing but it has been missed here. Condensation running down the windows isn’t very good. The final blow was being given paper napkins, that really took it from trying to be contemporary chic to street food cafe.

Can’t fault the food. It’s delicious. Fresh, hot and extremely tasty. However.... the decor is just not in keeping with the food or price. I don’t really want to eat my nice meal on school furniture. The rest of the decor is a tad ropey and the dehumidifiers lying around by the windows do not fill you with confidence. The tables are also extremely close together. My daughter loves it keeps taking us there but could be so much better.

Four of us went in on a Sunday and had to wait over an hour for our food and then dealt with a very rude manager.

My husband and I went to this Thai resturant to have our wedding anniversary meal never again .The atmosphere in Hitchin Sukawatee is cold and canteen setting . The staffs are rude and rotten , they rush you to eat up and get out by X time . It's all about money delivering very poor customer service with rock hard stern face as if they are in Thailand . This is England a westernised Country where people are very much valued and respected . The food was salt and horrible , flies were buzzing around inside the dinning area . It wouldn't recommend and certainly will not go back .

I am on a business trip this week and I am usually going to the same places. Today I decided to give a chance to a new restaurant. I really fancy Thai food and Go whenever I can. When reading the comments, I can see that people are enthusiastic about this place, so I gave it a go. I have to say that I was not impressed by the diner. Maybe I made the wrong choices and ordered things that I didn’t enjoy... anyway, I will give it another go in my next trip to Hitchin. This is why I chose to give a 3 out of 5. By the way, the service is good, waiters are friendly and kitchen is fast in serving.

Came here with a friend for dinner. Service was great, staff were friendly and the food was delicious! The only thing I would say is, it gets really hot an steamy in there! Would definitely visit again but sit closer to a window/ door!

I visited the new premises in Hermitage Road for the first time last night, the old restaurant two doors up was lovely with comfortable tables where one could chat with friends in a nice atmosphere.

Food was fine, the service was dreadful. The food took over over an hour to arrive, no apology, no explanation but they were happy to tell us their card machine wasn't working and payments had to be made in cash before our mains had even arrived. Hitchin needs another Thai restaurant!

Vistied Sukawatee for a date night last night, the restaurant is so clean and tidy and well decorated, the staff couldn’t have been more attentive, polite and friendly. Service was quick and portion sizes were very generous.

I visited with family for a birthday celebration. It was our first time there and the food was great. What really lets the place down is the lack of both ambiance and air conditioning. There was no ventilation and the windows couldn't be opened. Condensation was streaming down the windows and we were advised not to place any items on the floor as they would get wet. Even though they opened the door now and again, it was unbearably hot in there and we couldn't wait to get out for fresh air. Coming home, all our clothes were stinking of food, even down to my bra! The next morning, all had to go into the wash, including the jackets. It's such a shame but we won't come back again unless they do something about it.

Had a couple of great meals in the restaurant recently, so I thought I’d order a takeaway. I placed the order and was told it would be a two hour wait for delivery and and hour and a quarter for collection. The excuse being they’re busy. Cancelled the order and went elsewhere.

The food was delicious and our waitress , Lilly was kind and professional. We will return soon ... :)

The meal we had here was absolutely delicious. I had tofu satay skewers and then Thai red curry. Both of them were beautiful. The other two people I was with fully enjoyed theirs as well. The service was excellent and efficient. The only reason I haven’t rated as 5 stars is because no love have been put into the way the place looks and it therefore lacks atmosphere. However, the food and the service overrides this and therefore I would recommend without hesitation!

Consistently good food but no frills. Since moving a couple of doors down the road from their previous venue Sukawatee has taken on more of a cafe feel, bright lights, utilitarian furnishings and a much younger clientele. The food comes out very fast, great if you’re in a hurry but not if you’re looking for a more leisurely evening. Rather bizarrely, appearing in a delightful rattan serving basket, the sticky rice then comes out of a plastic bag! The complimentary prawn crackers are stored in front of the kitchen in large clear plastic boxes which don’t keep them very fresh, not disastrous, just adding to the fast and convenient feel there is to this place now. The only thing that hasn’t changed are the restaurant style prices. I won’t be going back unless it’s for a fast lunch bowl. It’s a shame, with some more investment and food so tasty this place could be really great.

Went here for the first time since it relocated from its previous place just over the road. Food was just as good as ever, every dish fresh and well presented, menu always makes me want to try something new, and the place I would keep visiting being local. Staff very friendly and help make it a special occasion. The only thing I would say is a shame is the new look before it had an atmosphere where you felt you were cosey and in a family business like it is. Now the look is wide open and more cafe in style with plan table and chairs and no linen, everyone can hear everyone and feel more like a chain fast turnover buffet style restaurant which it is 100% not it’s so so so much better than that.

I have not been since they moved to their new location, more of a modern feel. I prefer it.

I popped in here for lunch and went for my “go to” Thai dish but was left feeling very disappointed.

Ordered takeaway for family expecting good quality thai food based on in restaurant dining. What an utter disappointment having paid £41 for a meal for 3 the us....quality comparison was that of a cheap run of the mill high street takeaway. I did call on the night to express my disappointment.....the staff offered no recourse....strike that off my restaurant list for good. Thks for the experience Sukawatee.

Such a remarkable and successful relocation by the team at Sukawatee! They continue to deliver the best Thai food for miles and the service is fantastic. Amazing value lunch, you've got to go! Definitely need to book on the evenings though. Highly recommended

On Sunday 28th October I had lunch in this lovely restaurant with my husband,who had fishcakes to start which he said were delicious I started with prawns in rice pastry with a chilli dipping sauce this was equally delicious.

We were served warm processco despite said to the waiter that the bottle wasn't chill but he pour us the wine anyway! My boyfriend ordered prawn but he got chicken instead.

Having eaten at many restaurants in the area, Sukawatee's consistently serves up the most memorable dishes. Really good quality and value for money.

After many years of enjoying your wonderful food I think I have to call it a day.
