Sugar & Spice Takeaway in Glasgow City

In my 24 years on this planet, I’ve never tasted food this bad. Sugar and Spice should be ashamed to serve something this disgusting. I ordered a grill box, and almost every piece of chicken was burnt to a crisp—probably from being overcooked and reheated who knows how many times. Everything was soggy, rubbery, and just awful. Even my dog wouldn’t eat it. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering, because I could’ve saved myself the money and the terrible experience. I don’t even know how this place is still in business, serving food this low quality. Trust me, if you’re even considering ordering from here, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This was honestly the worst meal I’ve ever had.

I frequently use Sugar and Spice for my takeaway meals and the food is always of a very high quality and delicious. My favourite curry dishes include Chicken Tikka Bhuna, Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Saag. I also enjoy a MIxed Meat Kebab from time to time. All the dishes that I buy from Sugar and Spice are always excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending their food to anyone who hasn't tried them before. Top marks here. Nice german donner kebab bread was not as fresh as some have had but was perfectly acceptable would get again. Chips & cheese not great not much cheese and chips crispy and hollow

Order ham and pineapple pizza and doner kabab delivery 45 mins to get order only 10 min walk from house to shop .the pizza was covered in peppers which I never ordered Phoned back up told need to pay for new one .I said no come get pizza as wrong made then told will give new if other pizza return I said it's here no one touch it don't use delivery as get orders wrong and long time for delivery to show up

**Review**: I had a very disappointing experience with Sugar and Spice. I placed my order with an estimated delivery time of 17:20 to 17:40, but the food didn’t arrive until nearly two hours later, despite multiple follow-up calls and repeated assurances that the delivery was just minutes away. When the food finally arrived, it was mostly cold, and the portions were smaller than expected—especially the curry, which only had three small pieces of chicken. The loaded fries were completely drenched in sauce, making them almost inedible. By the time the food got to me, I was so hungry that I just had to eat it quickly, but it was far from enjoyable. While the restaurant did offer a £10 refund for the inconvenience, it didn’t make up for the overall poor experience. I was really looking forward to a nice meal but ended up feeling let down and frustrated. **Suggestion**: Please update the delivery status on Uber Eats more frequently when there are delays. It would help manage expectations better and avoid such disappointments. Overall, I was very disappointed and would hesitate to order from here again if celtic are playing

We asked for No Sauce & No Salad on the kebab meat & Nan bread, because I am allergic to Spice , But They Never Listened, they Really Need to practice their Listening skills because Tonight NHS 24 has had to be phoned to get me help as I have been in a lot of stomach pain, & They think saying sorry makes it all better, They need to Learn that not everyone can take spices, Please be very careful everyone when Ordering a delivery from that the same doesn't happen to you too Cos I have been in so much pain because of them..😡

Order the German flat bread kebab. Came over an hour late, cold and it was a plain roll with dry kebab meat. Horrendous place. Pizza was alright but cold.

Always give places a few tries before reviewing, spicy chickens absolutely banging but unfortunately I would not recommend neither would I order for delivery again! Waited nearly an hour and a half for a hoagie with freezing cold chicken & by the tastes and looks of it there chips were pre cooked away last week some time🤢 .. absolute shambles should’ve just declined the order instead of giving paying customers uncooked freezing food🙄🙄😡

I tried this place, their food is one of the best in Glasgow. Their chicken tikka is so delicious and no comparison to their kebab souce It's worth trying. Staff is very friendly.

Had their supposed signature German Donner with 50p extra special bread, about as German as I am Pakistani, just a rancid pile of yesterday’s slop. It’s not the shredded lamb/chicken style they have advertised in the window, it’s just the classic bottom quality densely congealed mystery meat, clearly cooked yesterday and reheated in the microwave, then lathered in tasteless sauce, took ages to chew and now experiencing toothache just to top off the experience. The place itself is dirty, no bins, didn’t give me napkins or cutlery. £8.70 and for some reason the Fanta was Russian. Weird place

Had a take away 14/4 can honestly say it was the worst I have experienced. First of all the nann bread was more like a naan biscuit , not risen and hard . Secondly- poppadoms we’re soggy as if been left out and thirdly - lamb bhoona - although lovely only three little pieces of lamb , I don’t keep very well or I would have brought it back but certainly not impressed one bit

Hit and miss with the food always forget something

I have Been ordering the food continuously from here for a couple of days . Always delivered on time , Their staff and delivery drivers always behave with all the customer just like a family. Highly recommended specially Chicken tikka biryani and vegetable curry and with extra sauces and drinks Highly recommended.....

I Never really get takeaways but if I do i always order from here. I have ordered from here for 4 years now And it’s the only place I would ever order from, Their food is always good and always comes very fast. ☺️

Not sure if it has new owners, either way WE WILL NOT be returning. chicken tikka kebab was thrown in the bin. Chicken was pree cooked goodness knows when or why. Nan bread was again pree cooked goodness knows when or why. Will NOT be returning.

Been ordering from here for a couple of years now, yet to be disappointed. Food always arrives on time, piping hot even though I'm a 10 min drive away from the shop. Staff and delivery drivers always been friendly with me. They never forget a juice or the extra sauce like most places and most importantly always enjoy the food. Hopefully stays this way.

Dry spicy mince for dinner disgusting place

Absolutely shocking service. My delivery was left on the doorstop without any effort to get in contact with us. No phone call, text or even a ring of the doorbell. Just left to become stone cold and absolutely disgusting. On requesting a refund of our £28.70 order we were offered £22.80 of account credit!! Absolutely shocking and will never order or recommend here ever.

Amazing milkshakes with brilliant taste. I definitely would recommend the the milkshakes especially the vanilla milkshake.would order again

One of the best takeaways and curries in Glasgow. Shame they shortened their delivery radius and I cant order from them anymore! They have really great deals available as well which is nice to see.

Very poor quality food, potion size of German Donner kebab was shocking considering it cost £10, spicy wings were actually chicken chaat wing's coated in "spicy" batter,

Peri wings were actually burnt wings with spicy mayo squirted on top. Check the pictures. Burgers are good, consistently. Pizza is good. Delivery was over a half hour late.

Please do not order from this place. 1 of if not thee worst take away in the whole of the East end. Vile is an understatement. The kebab meat was that bad my dog never even ate it... then when u call u get some guy constantly saying bro, bro, bro, our portions are big. Poor standers I ordered chips and cheese to be ordered and when I got it to only find ou the melted the cheese without me saying so and the melted it in the microwave in a polystyrene container and the polystyrene melted into the chips and cheese this food was for my child this a disgusting and unacceptable and when I contacted the manager he was rude and refusing to replace it so cause I said to him since he's not replacing it I asked for a refund he started being rude then he hanged the phone up I would never order out here again

Honestly what is it with all the Kebab shops calling them self now "German" Kebab and it has absolutely nothing to do with German Kebab. Please inform your self first before you offer it. I really would call this false advertisement! You have the proper "Fladenbrot" just to place it into a Styrofoam container and fill it up. The meat is okay but absolutely overfilled with disgusting salad that is brown and cut it gigantic chunks. For the price you get 2 proper "German Kebabs" in GDK which is the real deal.

Super yummy!! Always worried about ordering close to closing time as some restaurants don't take as much care. But the food so far is great! So good, I'm leaving a review so I remember to come back! Which I shall be.

First time I ordered from this place was through Uber eats and I honestly thought wow I have actually found the best place around. Next time I ordered from here I really wasn’t impressed as the pizza was half cooked but I put it down to a bad night and maybe the shop was busy and rushing food out (it was a Friday) I tried again a few weeks later for a special munchy box and half of the munchy box order was missing. The order was £15 and lucky if there was £5 worth of food in the box. I complained on Uber eats and supplied the shop with a picture of the box (pakora missing stuff in the box that shouldn’t of been there, cheese missing) they didn’t even have the decency to reply with a sorry they just gave me £5 back. So I eventually got £5 worth of food for £10. Yeah…..I will avoid this takeaway at all costs and that’s unfortunate as the first order was amazing. I can’t in all honesty recommend this shop unfortunately.

Really good food and great portions for the price. Ordered a German Doner kebab and chips, German Doner hoagie plus a Chicken Tikka in Butter sauce. The Chicken Tikka in Butter sauce tastes amazing I Highly recommend 😋

1st time i have tried here, Was recommened n it was a let down , Was told 40mins for a chicken tikka kebab n it was over an hour .. Chicken was over cooked & bone dry ,Nan was lovely n the salad fine , Sauce was far 2 hot but thats down 2 the person ..

Got a cheese burger basically ate it all to find was pink at the end feel physically sick if a chef can’t cook a burger what hope do they have, shame on the chef think it’s time to get a new one as ever I can cook a burger

Place is a joke in all honesty, received food and chicken was undercooked, got a cheeseburger with all salad and mayo on it when there was no option and IS NOT STATED that cheeseburgers come with salad and mayo only says meal served with chips. They seem to think it's funny to reply to reviews being sarcastic but also failed to address the fact they served raw chicken good one and when you call the shop.they don't answer👍received a full refund so shows restraunt accepted there chicken was undercooked and a health risk. Avoid

I've ordered from this place many times in the last few years and I have always been very happy with the service. The food often comes within time or even earlier which is very much appreciated and the food always hits the spot. I know the place is under new management and I can see only improvement on the already great place. I ordered chicken pakora today and it came literally within minutes and it was nice, fresh and hot. Definitely recommend that you try it out, you won't be disappointed

Always order takeaways thought I would try a new place for once and your food was nice but delivery was 30’mins late and I ordered a skyscraper burger with kabab sauce and I received a cheese burger with mayonnaise wasn’t too happy sorry won’t be ordering here again go back to my usual place

Tried the new German Donner, it was very filling and tasty! the staff were lovely and their desserts menu includes my favourites, cookie dough, waffle, milkshakes and sticky toffee pudding. Will defos order from here again.

Visited here after new management came in and honestly loving the change. They've amped up the menu with a whole new peri section and switched to german donner too. I had the kentucky burger from the new york style menu and a friend had the peri butterfly rice box and both were so good! Milkshakes from here are on point too! Definitely a new favourite spot.

The quality of the meals is consistently excellent and in my opinion, top quality restaurant cuisine at takeaway prices and very friendly service too. Yet again got my order wrong!!!! Clearly ordered something off the menu and received something else. Too much sauce,a half the toppings and not edible. Wasted money and an evening wasted. Lost a customer.

I live quite close to Sugar and Spice and have bought meals from them for several years now. The owner 'VeeJay' is very knowledgeable about food and nutrition in general, and the quality of their takeaway meals reflects this. I only use Sugar and Spice (Parkhead) for my takeaway meals these days and can highly recommend them. My favourite dishes are : Chicken Tikka Bhuna with Ginger and Lime, Chicken Patia, and a popular favourite for many people - Chicken Tikka Masala. I usually treat myself to a Sugar and Spice takeaway as a little reward at the end of a hard week at work, and it's well worth the wait. Restaurant class meals at takeaway prices ! Staff are friendly prices are ok. But to be honest food isn't the best. Sauce has too much of a tang to it which over powers other smells and flavours and food is a bit bland.

Setting is good but my food was a bit bland...but would still recommend...my meal may have been a one off
