Subway - Rumney in Cardiff

Echoing previous recent reviews, this branch has implemented a touch-screen order system which has made the ordering process far slower. Furthermore, the systems kept crashing and referred us to the staff behind the counter who just told us to use another one. We had spent nearly 10 mins just trying to place our order, so gave up and went elsewhere.

I love Subway, favourite fast food place around. But recently, for some stupid reason, this restaurant has decided to implement computer screens for ordering. This has made ordering and receiving food 10x slower and more inefficient. Whereas before I would be in and out with my food in 5 minutes, I was waiting nearly twenty minutes for my sub. Get rid of these screens.

Bad experience at the Rumney subway, been using this shop for years, went in the shop today and they have a new epos self serve tablets to make your orders on, well i tried 3-4 times, it froze on me, wouldn’t let me pay, I voiced concerns to staff who were trying to help but had to follow protocol and said there was no other way to take my order other that these slow technology built tablets not fit for purpose, I’m sorry but when you want food, it’s nice to have the subway personal experience and telling the staff how you want your sub and then pay, changing a system that has worked for years, what a shame 😩 other customers in the shop where having same issues, and in the end I couldn’t wait no longer I gave up and went to Greggs

Worst subway I’ve ever been too. Never have enough of the bread, the staff are rude and don’t know how to make sandwiches, they don’t wrap it up properly and leave sandwiches half empty. The manager rudely did stock take in front of us, moaning about doing it and make the atmosphere awful. I asked to scan my card and got sighed at. They have missed the buck with this subway, don’t recommend go to any other shop bar from that one, waste of money

I am Regular Here my husband basically comes everyday today there was little to no meat in the sub after filling it the lady was seen scooping it back out will not be coming here no more pentwyn branch are so much nicer and they stack the subs

Why can’t I see the delivery man? There is a weirdo called Ahmed that works for one of your companies

the waffle chips stone cold and paid for crispy onions none on my food

ordered at half 10 to get it for 1 o clock ( my lunch break) 1 o'clock arrives and the get it by time keeps getting later so i called the restaurant which lied to me and told me my order must already be out for delivery and I know they lied because after I hung up the tracker then changed to preparing then I tracked the delivery driver from the restaurant I was only 5 minutes away, 2 and a half hours is plenty and voids the excuse of the lunchtime rush

Expensive and not really worth it. Very expensive sandwich lacking filling.

Way too much marinara sauce on the pizza slice, it was a huge mess.

First time ordering Subway ever, food was nice but a little cold even though the store isn't too far from me.

Food didn't turn up and when we phoned the store they were not helpful and very rude

All of the order was luke warm, so had to microwave it. Subs were very nice, I wouldn't bother with the New waffle fries as they arrived soggy and cold. Delicious subs

food came cold and portions were made wrong and the wait was up to 45 minutes and also cost 6 pound for this late delivery

The old lady behind the counter wants to learn some customer service skills. So rude!

food was late and turned up cold, driver didn't have a clue ,cheese was missing from my 6 inch which cost an extra 90p and was given a coke zero instead of original which also cost an extra 20p food was squashed because drinks were put on top , definitely won't order from here again!

Not everything came sort it out

Hash browns and bacon wrapped sausage was under cooked. Pale had to put in air fryer to cook.

Everyone needs to taste the harty Italian bread on one of their combos ..its an absolute divine😋

We had ordered 2 tuna , and a chicken tikka salads when they arrived, half the items were missing on the salads, and not much of it absolutely disgusting, I drove to the store to show them what we had , the staff were rude when I approached them , and told us they had a busy day so they ran out of stuff, will never order from that store again customer service at its worst!!! Asked to speak to a manager and was told that the manager doesn’t like to be contacted

Extremely rude staff. They took a particular liking for me for some reasons. It has happened twice. I didn’t want to reply in similar way to the two ladies serving in-front if my children. Food was good though

I visited the store on Saturday 29th July 2023 at around 130pm. The staff were not very friendly or helpful, especially the lady on the till who I found to be rude and extremely u helpful. 2 young girls had just eaten their subway and wanted a dessert which they wanted to split the cost = NO was the response one of you pay then the other person give you the money. My sons wanted a sandwich so I opted for the kids size..... I'd asked about the meals but the person at the till asked whether I was having the meal The options were extremely limited = tuna or grilled chicken OR we could have fed them different kinds of HAM which I would go to hell for as my sons are Muslim and I would knowingly be feeding them something that is AGAINST their religion but hey ho as a diverse community and country let's not think about that. The staff had no clue and could not find a healthy solution. We went with a chicken and a tuna sandwich = my 7yr old asked why Subway does not like Muslims and love Pork.

Tandoori chicken sub is my choice and it's good

Update August 2022 Amended to 2 stars after UberEats delivery. Placed order. Was out of stock of 1 item but notified on app after order placed. Tried to order replacement. App crashed. Tried to call branch to rectify. I rang for 40 minutes. No one answered phone. Messaged uber driver, he read message and ignored. Food arrived. Driver was not interested. Refused to give us the order until we gave him pin number. Food was crushed, missing sides and not great. One meal short as well. Will not order again. Disappointed after the price we paid. Original review in branch: Yum. Excellent price. Excellent service. Fresh and delicious. Very lovely staff with good banter.

Was not happy with the mannor of how this blonde, thin women in her 40s. Was having go at his young lad in front of the customers. I work in a supermarket and we are told never to disrespect a member of staff infront of customers. This show bad customer service and lack of respect for someone well being. The point i am saying she should have spoke to him when the customers are not there and not on the shopfloor when opening times. I felt sorry for the lad.

Don't order from this subway, second time I've ordered from here and they got the order wrong; but no way to complain so guess it'll have to do here... Will be going to another subway from now on

Just visited this subway and new staff are amazing, had best sub and salad in years!

Absolutely awful after spending 23 pound on 3 foot long subways they were all wrong wrong salads even though receipt said what we had ordered sauce wouldn't cover half a six inch let alone a foot long. Tried ringing store nobody can be bothered to answer I rang 7 times. Disgusted

A good subway store can get busy and that's not ideal during social distancing as the out side area is limited parking at busy time can also be at a premium. Staff are efficient and every visit I have had made a perfect sub.

Come here regularly, food is always fresh, most of the staff are very friendly and welcoming , but there is one staff member that is very rude and short with the costumers . I think maybe its time to retire or find a different job 😂

Come here regularly..... The staff are wonderful and prompt food is always fresh! My only gripe with this place is the moody one.... If you go here already you'll know what one I'm on about.... Ohhh my!! I've been thinking about reffering her to nursery to gain some basic manners 😂

Good place to find quick food to eat from.

Ideal location on the main road in Rumney row of shops. Not far from the Old Natwest & Barclays Bank. Great choice, good prices and you can eat in as well if you want. Plenty of parking in front of the shop. Or if busy behind Sainsbury's.

Terrible! The bread was old tasted like plastic the salad was Brown! Staff didnt even fill up the fillings! Shameful!!! Like eating garbage!

Used this Subway several times and staff are mostly great each time. Food quality is good, but availability of breads is poor recently since store update. Whether this is due to poor management by staff for baking or lack of ingredients, is unknown, as reason was not given for only two bread choices, despite half the day remaining! On one occasion some teenage customers were quite violent and asked to leave. Parking is poor due to location.

New build so everything looks nice in there staff are not bad a little grumpy sometimes food just the same as every other subway

Parte de mi pedido era una bebida Fanta, pero cuando la entregué faltaba. Atendió más de 20 llamadas a la tienda. La mujer me colgó y cuando finalmente pude hablar con ella de nuevo, me dijo que no había colgado, ¡fue a servir a un cliente! ¿Quién se creía que era yo? Le pregunté por el nombre del gerente que dijo que me llamaría más tarde. Hubo una respuesta entre dientes y luego colgó de nuevo. No hay respuesta a ninguna otra llamada. He planteado una queja con la oficina central.El mejor consejo es evitar este lugar!

Best subway in the area. Always well stocked and bread always fresh. Staff very friendly. Only small fountain drinks available is the only slight criticism.

Took my two young Grandchildren the staff could not have done anymore on top of that the food was fresh the girls demolished their meal

Visité 24/04/19 alrededor de las 1: 30. El personal en este cambio fue tan grosero. Eran muy desagradables. Una sonrisa no duele. Pedí una ensalada y pedí carne doble. Luego me preguntó si lo quería frío o caliente y lo pensé durante unos 3 segundos. Luego, antes de que pudiera darle una respuesta, ella dijo "caliente" y la puso en el horno.

Love subway, fresh prepared sandwiches and salads. In my eyes you can't go wrong. Just make sure the lettuce is fresh, they have heaps of bags already chopped up, so ask nicely and you won't get the brown lettuce that has been sitting.

Very kind staff, fair portion sizes, and very accomodating as I brought my own bottle for water.

I often go to get a sandwich at this building, and always enjoy it. Subway always offers good food for a good price with kind staff member to make your sandwich in front of you. I will be returning again soon.
