Probably the worst fast food ever. Waited half an hour for hash browns because the guy behind the till was “rating pornstars” to other customers. This guy should be fired. (Left before I got my food on Tuesday night at 3:30am.) aka 3.30am Wednesday!

Not being able to order what you want as they refuse to serve you and you are told abruptly to go on self-service ...which is unacceptable .if you have learning difficulties not ideal also not everyone understands self-service!! Orders online going in front of orders all ready ordered on the takeout in subway....waiting ages for your food plus orders coming in separate on double orders . I've been going to this subway for years always thought the service and one to one communication was brilliant. Unfortunately not now they seem to be unable to run the place let alone serve food ...so rude and unfriendly! hygiene awful .. avoid !! Stay away if you have allergies they will get your order wrong

Slow service and incorrect fillings put in the sandwich by Rakesh. Insisted we pay on the self-service machine (whose idea was this? It defeats the whole USP of Subway which is fast service of customisable subs made in front of you). The machine did not scan the app to apply the offer, so to Rakesh' frustration we had to pay at the till of all places! In a shop!! Whatever next?!

What has happened to subway? Used to be good, now the sandwich fillings are pre decided on a board and if you want to do create your own then prepare yourself for the most boring flavours ever and if you have the audacity to want to change anything in the "we'll make your sandwich" then be prepared to be charged for a "create your own" asked for no oinon and more sweetcorn and got attitude Instead. New self service machines meaning staff no longer have to talk to you, attempted to order at the counter and the staff member grunted and pointed at the machine. Prices are horrendous too, would love to know how a footlong sandwich cost £9

Firstly, staff were lovely and prepared the food quick, despite tables being a little dirty - had no problem with that. Self service machines were an absolute joke. If you want to come to subway to customise a sandwich specific to you - this is not the place. Programme gives you an option to ‘create your own sub’ but that is merely a charade, a deception of the highest magnitude. Click that option and pre-made sandwiches are presented to you, very obviously contradicting the conception of a unique customisable sandwich. Having been forced to select an option that just barely resembles and is almost unrecognisable to the ideal sandwich idea I possess in my mind, I proceeded further and some semblance of creativity arrived in the form of merely choosing bread and extras. Never ordering from self service machines again. Food arrives promptly, and I am handed a ‘footlong’ subway bacon and cheese melt the size of a fruit pastilles tube. Almost no bacon, drowned in melted cheese and onions. Dissapointed, most unpleasant subway experience in my life.

Staff are awful. And they don't change their gloves or knives. For example I had a steak and cheese melt but where it had been cut there were meatballs stuck to the ends. And I had to pay cash so they took my cash have me my change and then went on to serve someone behind me but didn't take their plastic gloves off after handling the money? Disgusting.

Went in again yesterday because the children wanted to try subway sandwich. The lady staff served us(1801) with an attitude, very impatient, wouldn't allow pepperoni on kids sandwich, no explanation given - he had food sensory issues and refused to eat the tuna alternative I chose for him because we went in for pepperoni and salami. The day before I went in with him and was served by a wonderful staff : 0116 and he was given exactly what we ordered. The whole experience is only as good as the staff you get and not the overpriced Footlong. Never going in again.

This restaurant opens 24 hour which is quite good if you're hungry in the middle of the night. Went for a snack with a friend got served by this young gentleman serving us unfortunately didn't follow food safety guidelines as we were watching him dealing with other customers, handling money, making food, touching his hair without sanitising his hands. Which personally I think it's disgusting and unhygienic and if it happened anywhere else he would be repremanded. And when my friend confronted him he gave some excuse while not changing the disposable gloves every time he served a different customers. Personally I think it's not a bad subway but I will not return if this young gentleman is working. It's enough to put anyone off their food. Sorry guys.(8pm 19/10/22)

Got a spicy Italian sub yesterday morning, I was served by Shoebob(not sure if that's the spelling but that's the name I got from his colleagues this morning). That sub was peg, absolutely did the job after a 3 hour workout sesh, he was super patient with me and my questions about the topping and by the time I got home there was nothing left of the sub. Would someone like to tell me how only 2 members of staff - one serving customers in the wrong order whilst letting heated food get cold, and the other ignoring customers and making online orders - are supposed to manage this sidwell st. store at 3:30 on a Sunday? Can’t get orders correct when using just-eat or deliveroo. Always missing sides, drinks, etc. Doesn’t re-read orders to make sure it’s correct, i.e. toasted, untoasted, which sauce, etc. End up tossing most of it. Tried to call to get a refund for missing items. Left us ringing for ten minutes (called multiple times). Disappointing as this is the second time this has happened now

The sub was brilliant, I savoured every morsel. Only problem is that your employee, nick (or as I call him, Spooky Nick) slipped a spooky sauce into my sandwich. Come in for a quick breakfast on the 29th at around 5/6 am before departure, the staff here are extremely rude, haven’t informed us about the oven not working before, the store is very dirty l, the staff rather than cleaning up he decided to go outside for a cigarette with some people. Five Stars for the staff working at lunchtime on 14th October, friendly helpful and a very nice salad. Had I left the review on Wednesday 13th it would have been a 1Star. Perfect, cheap food for students or cheats days, but not much else. As a chain, subway standards differ vastly in standards depending on where you visit. This one lands somewhere in the middle. Hygiene wise, it is clean enough, but I wouldn't want to sit inside of the store to eat my food. Depending too on the time you go to the store, the service can take a while. A wait is to be expected. Everything is satisfactory, but not amazing, which, in all fairness is to be expected from a subway store anyway. You should lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed.

While I used to rate this location quite highly, I have found of late it is going downhill. I usually go in the morning to get something to take for lunch... and many bread types are not available and what there is has got quite stale. Now if you are having a toasted sandwich that wouldn't be such a big deal, but as I am buying a sandwich for later, I don't want it toasted so freshness is very important.

I am a middle aged woman who happens to be a traveller stranded in the early morning at 4 am at this place to wait for a further bus connection. I felt like having something to eat and was advised by the bus driver that this is one of the 2 shops which happens to be open in the city of Exeter around this time. As I arrived, it was crowded, so I queued up in front of the till to pay the 7up I took from the fridge and to order some food. As I was the 2nd time ignored and other customers who arrived later were served, I was asking why I am not being served. The two young men, both in the age of my children, told me in a grumpy tone that I am being at the wrong place. There are no signs visible where to queue to order food, ( which is usually in a walk-in restaurant at the till ) but I am told off that I can't guess? Sorry??? And then being told in a tone like a 3 year old child??? Is that what you understand as a customer service??? After sitting down and the people leaving in groups the restaurant, it was utterly dirty, but instead of cleaning, the staff had chats with each other about girls ( I can tell you exactly what they said ) with a friend of them who visited, and even after this friend ordered and left, I couldn't see them cleaning the utterly dirty store - a fact you can see on CCTV. Worst ever.

Unhappy staff - once lady is always especially unfriendly and sounding like she's trying to rush you out the door - and an atmosphere that somehow manages to feel lifeless, even when the place is busy. The quality of your sandwich greatly depends on who's making it, and it's very inconsistent overall. They seem to literally throw ingredients on without care for if it's actually going to remain inside the sandwich when they close it. I would give three stars, but I'm giving only one because of hygeine - I saw the staff handling my sandwich last week find a dead slug in the lettuce they put in my sandwich, but all they did was pick it up out of my sandwich, grimace and throw it in the bin. They kept that lettuce there, knowing I just watched that happen, and didn't bring it up - they just asked me if I wanted any sauce. I was floored.

This is probably more of a review of the young man who served me and my family this Sunday morning. As far as I could see he was alone in the shop. The place had been cleaned immaculately, and we're talking about after a Saturday night!! He was polite, courteous and very quick to serve us and complete the order!
