We stayed in Margate for a few days and were looking for somewhere for brunch. Sub Rosa was very close to our accommodation so I thought we'd check it out. Am so glad we did. I've never had bagels as good as this anywhere. So good we went back the following day. First day we had the Lox which was divine and the second day I had the Pastrami. The Pastrami was that good I nearly had a "spiritual moment". My girlfriend tried a bite and then got such bad food envy that I ended up giving half of it to her to stop her wobbly bottom lip. Chaps, is it just me or do women never offer to share their food when the tables are turned? (Only joking! I'll duck now!). On seeing this one of the owners offered to make her a pastrami bagel for free!!!! Where does that ever happen! Anyway, if you're in Margate and want an amazing food exprience then don't hesitate to come to Sub Rosa.

This is my first ever trip advisor review, but I needed to rave about this place. We went for breakfast two days in a row. First had a lovely salmon bagel, but today had pastrami! All I can say is get the pastrami! It was the best bagel of my life. The couple who run sub Rosa are absolutely lovely.

The bagels here are so tasty! loved the warm pastrami & egg and the warm egg with crispy bacon - would definitely recommend. Really friendly service from the owners who gave us some great local tips for our stay here.

If you love bagels, and sandwiches in general, then you are in luck. Sub Rosa is bringing the best of downtown NYC to Margate. Picked myself up a Ploughman's - cheddar cheese, tomato, incredible chutney - on a seeded bagel for lunch but the menu was full of other tasty dishes, especially for those who love big, meaty bagels. Three different types of meat on a bagel whilst on the beach is both a) what you want to eat in Margate and b) probably a song lyric. A super pleasant experience that uses all local ingredients but with an American spin. Plus, Sub Rosa is open all week - whatever the weather.

This is a hole in the wall place its one of the best places i have been to in Southend. The name lets it down as you would not think its a place to eat rather a bubble tea location. The owner is from Hungry and her food speaks of where her roots are. The food is all homemade even the burgers and the rolls. There is food for everyone to eat. Nomadic Chef

Well this was an interesting evening, I am giving it a mixed review , we were a group of 16 for my daughters birthday , we had booked weeks ago so expected it to be smooth but it wasn't . Sadly the restaurant was far too warm and everyone was uncomfortable. We were told it would be two tables of eight but when we arrived it wasn’t so they had to rearrange the tables . The service was slow and we didn’t get our starters for half an hour after sitting . The starter portions were all very small for the price they charge - for example I think £14 for a minuscule portion of salmon is excessive , same with the scallops , we asked for bread and were charged £5 for a chunk of bread !!! Steak was ok but really nothing special for £28. Monkfish was nice but again nothing special for the price , the sole was nice but overcooked as was the lobster . Most of the staff were friendly and helpful . Sadly we felt it was very overpriced and the food just ok , we won’t return anytime soon .

Ordered lamb kebab and chips. Chips were nothing special. The meat didn't taste good. It's also given myself and my partner an upset stomach. Wouldn't recommend

Really bad. Got seated quick enough when we arrived but waited 25 minutes for our drinks which was a bottle of beer and a coke. 25 minutes is a long time when just sitting at a table trying to get someone's attention. The people next to us were waiting even longer. Didn't get asked about allergies even though the receipt said we had (my wife has a diary allergy.) Good job she knows what to order. Lots of other unhappy customers. Wouldn't waste your time or money. Had to go and ask for the bill as server more interested in doing anything other than talk to the customers. This is my a cheap place to eat out anymore so the service really needs to be on point. Poor.
