Well this was an interesting evening, I am giving it a mixed review , we were a group of 16 for my daughters birthday , we had booked weeks ago so expected it to be smooth but it wasn't . Sadly the restaurant was far too warm and everyone was uncomfortable. We were told it would be two tables of eight but when we arrived it wasn’t so they had to rearrange the tables . The service was slow and we didn’t get our starters for half an hour after sitting . The starter portions were all very small for the price they charge - for example I think £14 for a minuscule portion of salmon is excessive , same with the scallops , we asked for bread and were charged £5 for a chunk of bread !!! Steak was ok but really nothing special for £28. Monkfish was nice but again nothing special for the price , the sole was nice but overcooked as was the lobster . Most of the staff were friendly and helpful . Sadly we felt it was very overpriced and the food just ok , we won’t return anytime soon .

Been here twice now and can't fault the surroundings, lovely place to go to. Prices are a bit on the hefty side for what you get to be honest. Two starters had to go back as far too salty, steaks were ok but nothing to write home about. Lastly I dont like a service charge imposed on me, wherever we go we always leave a good tip anyway, Probably won't be back......

What a find! Absolutely stunning. A great vibe, decor fabulous, service on point. Lovely views when sitting overlooking the sea. Lots of little things to look at around the venue, from a light up big wheel to sea shells no doubt from The beach across the road. Menus was good, reasonably priced and we were more the happy to pay. You can pop in for drink or eat too! Well done Pearly Cow at No. 42

Very nice evening. ‘Chips’ is an understatement, in a good way. Possibly the best sea bream I’ve ever had. Very good service although on at least one occasion a glass was taken prematurely with a dribble of moisture still remaining to be drunk. Definitely returning.

The server brought me a pot of tea but no tea cup. I asked for a chocolate croissant she brought me a plain croissant. I ordered orange juice she forgot that and the final straw she forgot to turn in my meal order! My husband finished his meal and watched me eat mine. The food was tasty redeeming the poor service

Lovely restaurant, terrace has amazing sea views. Food excellent. Staff friendly, helpful & nothing is too much trouble. Peter was excellent. Menu has something for everyone, fantastic fish & steak. Excellent wine list too. I highly recommend the ambience is very conducive to fun!! Have been back twice now one of my favourite places in Margate.

I’d like to give this restaurant 4.5 stars but I can’t. 4 stars would be too mean so I’ll go for 5. Offers a children’s menu, which seems to be quite uncommon in Margate. Lovely interior and terrace. I’d happily eat the pork scratchings and apple sauce every day for the rest of my life. Very tasty steak and bone marrow butter. Why not 5 stars? One of the massive beef fat chips was rather cold. If you’re charging £8 for chips then they should all be warm. Steak was closer to medium than the medium rare I’d ordered. Waited too long to take payment after they’d given me the bill so I had to get up and pay.

Enjoyed pre-dinner drinks here on a warm summer’s evening on the terrace which has amazing views of the beach and sunset. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the Cremant was good but would have been better had it been chilled.

A nice airy restaurant with lovely views over the beautiful beach. The staff were all very helpful. Fantastic seafood. Rather boringly we both ordered the same - crispy squid to start (the best crispy squid we have ever had - and it was gluten-free, so a real treat for me). We then had lemon sole, which was perfectly cooked. We had the chunky chips on the side, which were amazing. We were sadly too full for pudding!

Had a very nice table on the terrace .Attractive restaurant.Staff very attentive . Had the roast beef ,the beef was tender and tasty. Vegetables good . Yorkshire puddings not warm enough , Roast potatoes hard and think they must have been out of the oven a long time and microwaved, We both left them .Tiny little pots of gravy we had to ask for two more. My friend was paying for me ,so I did say any thing to the staff .but It was a nice restaurant so I would return. But wouldn’t have the roast again.

A bit of a treat place and I admit being sceptical of the price - but the food was excellent. The views of the sunset complemented the beautifully served dishes and excellent service. We had a mixture of dishes to start, the local oysters were particularly good, as were the enormous pork scratchings. The best chips I’ve ever had and the steak was excellent too. There are tweaks that could be made - I think the fire and ice concept is good - but could extend to a sharing starter platter and maybe signposting drinks to match the food. Service was very good - but would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted another drink and for serving cutlery to be provided for the shared mains - but these are minor tweaks or improvements that could be made. The ambience was excellent and the staff attentive. We’ll be back.

We had a wonderful experience at the Pearly Cow. The food, service and ambience were perfect. Lexi our waitress was attentive and helpful and arranged for a seat on the balcony once we had finished our meal to soak up the sunshine for the last 1/2 hour of the daylight enjoying a drink. The view was fantastic over the sea. We popped our heads into the rooftop bar which was busy but very nice with even more spectacular views.

Lovely beautifully decorated restaurant upstairs on the seafront in Margate. It was quite quiet when we went at lunchtime, but booking was advised and they take a credit card number on booking. Speciality was the seafood, which was all delicious, but portions were quite small for the price (eg tempura prawn starter £11 for four normal sized king prawns), seafood platter £24 per person. We enjoyed it’s but wouldnt rush back.

We were placed into a corner table right by the window . Very comfortable. The music was a touch too loud but after a request they kindly turned it down to just right . We had very nice starters- crab and lobster crumpet , tempura prawns all very tasty . A nice Shiraz accompanied the perfectly done cote de bouef which all four of us had . The chips were excellent and the sauces made it a very tasty dish. Four nice desserts, especially the mille feuille and a few coffees rounded off a very pleasant evening. The staff were excellent, really spot on service. A tad pricey but well worth it

We really had high expectations on the Pearly Cow restaurant Margate. We came here for my birthday. From the get go it was a disaster, they didn’t have our booking on file, so we had to come 2 hours earlier as that was the only table they could give us. We arrived at 6pm and the restaurant was empty. Even at 8pm the restaurant had over 8 tables available and was empty. We ordered Steak tartare, tempura prawns and wood pigeon to start. The steak tartare was warm and flavourless, there was no oyster crème and about 3 pearls of lump fish on top. The prawns were frozen and you could easily tell, the wood pigeon was the nicest starter we ordered, but still cold and tiny for the price. We then had a fish PLATTER for 2, the fish platter was one of the worst “Platters” I have ever had. We had ONE Oyster, 1 seafood taco, 8 mussels, 2 paper thin slices of trout and a tablespoon of crab. We paid £60 for this platter. We were also encouraged to order multiple sides which we’re disappointing. Our waiter was lovely, he genuinely was a great part of the restaurant, however he was the only part. The restaurant was overpriced, underwhelming and the food was exceptionally bad for what they advertise. It’s a massive shame as the decor and the setting is stunning and there are so many good eatery’s now in Margate that this should have been a contender, however without the food and service, there is really no reason to go here, especially for an important occasion. I am more than happy to pay over the odds for great quality food, however this was poor quality and poor tasting.

We went here for our Valentine's dinner as we stayed at the No42 Margate Guesthouse, where the restaurant is very conveniently located with a lovely sea view, However, we were disappointed with the meal as our steaks burnt to charcoal on the outside and our chocolate pudding was dried and not very special. We had expected a good quality meal especially as it was a set Valentine's menu and the chef would have time to plan and prepare it well. The ambient was good and as we found the music too loud staff turned it down a little. The service was very good.

We often stay in Margate and this was the first time we had visited the Pearly Cow for dinner. The ambience was great and the staff very polite. We were unlucky enough to be sat beneath a speaker and found the music to be very loud which spoilt our conversation but there was nowhere else to move. The food was delicious but my starters of prawns was underwhelming - precisely 3 prawns plus sauce - no bread and was well overpriced for the little I had. My daughter had the rump steak as a mains and my husband and I shared the beef. The beef in both dishes was beautifully cooked. However my daughter had her own bowl of chips whilst my husband and I had to share exactly the same portion between two yet had paid double the price which made no sense. We turned down dessert. I do feel the dishes are overpriced for not a lot of food and although well presented and very flavoursome I doubt if we will return.

This new restaurant is great. Ambiance is amazing and I love the design of the restaurant. It’s very different to what the norm is in Thanet! It was my 21st and my friend and I were given complimentary Prosecco - which was so kind of the waiter and this has never happened anywhere else locally! Food was great and I loved the bone marrow!

Had a lovely birthday meal for my mum here just after Christmas. The restaurant was extremely cosy and had a good atmosphere. I was so impressed by the food, and the service, our waitress (I believe called Sheridan) was great, she was welcoming and new about the food and drinks and could suggest cocktails for us to try. The chowder was really really good, but the best thing we tried were the crab croquettes, I could eat them all day. Looking forward to returning!

Sadly, we felt let down. For the 2 hours we were there, a door somewhere kept slamming really loudly, making everyone jump. The waitresses were lovely but I think new at their jobs. We had to ask for items that should have been readily available and not told that one of our choices was unavailable only when the other hot meal was served.

This is a hole in the wall place its one of the best places i have been to in Southend. The name lets it down as you would not think its a place to eat rather a bubble tea location. The owner is from Hungry and her food speaks of where her roots are. The food is all homemade even the burgers and the rolls. There is food for everyone to eat. Nomadic Chef

Really bad. Got seated quick enough when we arrived but waited 25 minutes for our drinks which was a bottle of beer and a coke. 25 minutes is a long time when just sitting at a table trying to get someone's attention. The people next to us were waiting even longer. Didn't get asked about allergies even though the receipt said we had (my wife has a diary allergy.) Good job she knows what to order. Lots of other unhappy customers. Wouldn't waste your time or money. Had to go and ask for the bill as server more interested in doing anything other than talk to the customers. This is my a cheap place to eat out anymore so the service really needs to be on point. Poor.
