Excellent maxi breakfast and coffee, possibly cheapest in town. Bring cash if you can but they can accept card. Excellent service,friendly staff.

Superb fresh and quality breakfasts So good we had x 3 mornings in a row as near Premier Inn. Only 6gbp make sure pay extra for premium sausages. Fantastic stack of pancakes with fresh fruit banana maple syrup and clotted cream a bargain at 4.50 gbp.Has delicious vegan and vegetarian with cheese and cauliflower patties. Chris was chef for royalty and shows in the presentation. Highly Recommended

Went in and asked for a custom made vegan breakfast wrap (not on menu) and they were only too happy to oblige. One of the most delicious things I've eaten for a while would definitely recommend. Will definitely visit again.

Still the best cafe on Wirral. 5 years on from finding it and still haven't had a bad meal. I've graduated to taking my daughter and 2 grandchildren. It must be good if my 4 year old grand daughter regularly finishes her breakfast. The staff are always glad to see you and exercise their attentive duties perfectly. Chris the chef deserves credit for putting together such great package JP

Feeling peckish so thought I'd try this place again,it's been a few years since last visit here. I normally go the wetherspoons further down the street, but wanted something different today. Place was very clean with ample seating. Music was on and low, which is good. Ordered the great British breakfast. You get a choice of sausage, normal or premium, which costs a little more. I went for the normal. Service and staff were polite and courteous. Breakfast was served quickly and very well presented. It was 6 pound for this with the coffee. Pretty good really.

Not worth it, all drinks one size (which are all small) hardly anything on the menu to choose from!!

8th October 2022 I booked a table for 6, we were a little late ! We were not disappointed the previous reviews were spot on, food and service were excellent, excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend. We will be back.

We visited for breakfast while staying at the Premier Inn. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly.Great choices available on the menu, including traditional cooked breakfast as well as pancakes, and eggs Benedict! Good food and great prices. We would definitely visit again if it wasn't so far from Devon!

We called in here by lucky chance, having taken the "Ferry Across The Mersey" on a tourist expedition from Liverpool. Worth the walk round the lovely Georgian square to get there. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, the food was lovely and freshly cooked and the place was spotlessly clean. As an added bonus the owner is an engaging conversationalist with an in-depth knowledge of the local music scene since the 70's. Traditionally great breakfast food and more than welcoming. A real treat!

You will have to meet Chris to understand what a decent straight up guy he is. There's a very good reason why Strummers is called Strummers. Chris is an original from the punk era, and he named his Café in honour of the great man himself, Joe Strummer. I had the full English with the Cumberland style sausage up grade, don't deny yourself for 60p, it's worth every penny. Thanks Chris, the bacon was perfect. No rubbery rubbish here, the hash brown was perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy and light internally. The black pud was full of flavour, plenty of Tom's which went well with the thick sliced toast. The egg was bright yellow and as my farmers wife gran would have served. I should have asked for some 🍄 but I will on my next visit. Most importantly, the filtered coffee is really good, and the gaff is spotless. As Arnie once said, "I will be back" 10/10 Chris loved the chat about our punk interest, and I look forward to round two!

We stayed round the corner to Strummers cafe in January and come across this great little gem of a cafe . So we went back every morning For breakfast. The customer service is fantastic and so is the food and at a great price as well. All the staff are friendly and helpful with local information. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely be returning. Thanks

I seen a post of one of the breakfast from here just before the pandemic on Instagram and I have wanted to visit here since. Well last Saturday was the day and oh my word what have I been missing! This was most definitely the best breakfast that I have eaten from anywhere on the Wirral. Them sausages are just fabulous and the slice of ulster fry just puts the icing on my cake. Waitress was really friendly too and topped us up with bottomless cups of tea. I can't wait until my hubby is off on a Saturday again so we can go back, the only issue is parking the car thanks to the robbing council who I feel are not interested in helping small independent businesses to thrive in the area however this seems to be a gem in birkenhead that people are aware of as it was pretty busy and serving food like this I can see why.

This was recommended to me by one of the locals so I paid a visit on the way to an appointment. The place is clean, neat and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered the standard breakfast which was ideal and came with two doorstep toast and tea to coffee with free refills. The meal was well cooked and was even garnished with a spring of (I think) edible pea-leaves - a nice touch. I also do not know how they do it at the price charged. I shall certainly be going back.

I ordered the lamb shank dinner to take away on Wednesday, I have to say it was absolutely delicious ! The mashed potato and veg were fantastic too. Fantastic value for money. The place is spotless and the staff are very polite and friendly.

I visited this cafe, on the recommendation of a friend. My son and I were greeted by a pleasant young lady, who, after we sanitised our hands, showed us to a table. The cafe is cosy, and I noticed that, as soon as someone finished their food, the table was cleaned immediately. The menu caters for vegetarians, and my son ordered a veggie breakfast, including a cauliflower and cheese grill, hash brown, beans, tomato and egg. I went for a more traditional fry up, and they were happy to substitute items. The meals came with tea and toast, and, when they did, they were well-presented on square plates! We try a lot of the cafes, in and around Wirral, and I have to say, for quality and value, this is up there with the best, so far. We will definitely re-visit soon!

This cafe remains the jewel of the towns hospitality venues. Great fresh cooked food and excellent staff. During covid they maticulasly clean and ensure all tables,chairs and surfaces are cleaned before use. Why go anywhere else.

We were walking past this little cafe it looked very inviting so we went inside glad we did lovely clean and seats well spread out i i had pie dinner my wife backed potato with curry and salad both meals were delicious will definitely recommend it to my friends

We found this cafe on our trip to birkenhead. The first morning we went in for breakfast we were greeted with a smile.We've only had breakfast but it is freshly cooked and hot. Tastes good. Danielle and Sophie are always smiling and happy and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend a visit.

I've been eating here for years now. Although other food is available, I've only ever tried the breakfasts. I'm sure the other meals available are just as perfectly cooked. During this pandemic I was forced to get my all day breakfast fix at another highly rated cafe in Birkenhead, as Strummers was closed. The food wasn't a patch on this gem of a place. Glad to see you are open again Strummers, see you soon.

A gem of a cafe, I now live abroad but lived in B'head for 2 years and often had breakfast here. Staff are lovely and one of the very few places which serve plum tomatos rather than the usual dried out half a burned tomato served in Wetherspoons etc. I miss mopping up the juice with my buttery toast. May places like this live on forever<3

me an the family eat in all high end and budget cafes .But our personal favourite is Strummer on Argle street.The food is spot on however what stands out a mile is the care and attention to detail the owner Chris has .He takes note of all his customers and has fabulous interpersonal charm .He makes going to this place like almost being in the company of family relaxed you feel cared for and your custom is valued .money well spentDanielle

Having already established this place is the best breakfast around,popped in today, for a lunch item. OMG garlic chicken panini has to be tried to be believed. I smelt it all the way from the kitchen and the tasting was pure delight. Has to be tried to b believed.

Went in here for breakfast before traveling back to Fife,Scotland.Was not dissapointed,food freshlly cooked to order and great quality,hubby had the Yankie breakfast and loved it,l had eggy bread,mushrooms and bacon,it was so tasty.Will return for sure very soon.Cash only.Chris the owner is lovely.Well done x

There's something about a Great British breakfast... and Strummers does them perfectly!! Amazing, fresh, tasty food every time I go in. My partner likes the Great British breakfast while I get a vegetarian one. Both equally yum and very well priced! Served with a smile and great customer service from Chris and the girls. Can't recommend this little gem enough!

The food here is great value an added bonus is drink as much tea/coffee once paid for your meal with a drink, outstanding . Great britain meal I have bacon , egg, beans, black pudding 2 X sausage egg, 2X toast etc You cannot fault it. 5 star for the price.The staff are fantastic

Popped in for quick lunch, had an English breakfast which was excellently cooked, (No grease!) Very good quality. My wife had pancakes and bacon with maple syrup. Again brilliant, and so cheap. Very clean.

Breakfast here is one of the best in North and South England. Cheapskates welcome as the prices are very reasonable. Met someone called Julie there. Don't know where she worked but her tattoos were spelled correctly so she was class.

Traditional workers cafe, serving decent food at reasonable prices. Had cooked breakfast with very enjoyable pancake and maple syrup (great with bacon!) Unlimited tea and a newspaper set me up for the morning.

We came off the ferry from Liverpool , and had a very appetizing meal at Strummers , my husband had a curry freshly prepared , and I had a chilli also freshly prepared , both meals were fabulous , generous portions , and beautifully presented, also free refills on tea and coffee, very friendly staff , we were served by a pleasant friendly young lady called Jazz ,everywhere was clean and comfortable ,we dont visit Liverpool very often but we will definitely go back again . A place to go when your hungry .

Called in for the Great British Breakfast, which included a mug of coffee, for £3.40. Unbeatable value. Well prepared, tasty meal overall, but the 2 big sausages, although well cooked, were rather bland. Friendly staff, quick service. Premises and toilets fresh and clean. Well worth visiting, often.

Strummers at 76 Argyle Street is in the shop that my family used to operate, from 1904, as "Moodys Wines". A delight to sit there and dream of the past, and enjoy the best bacon and eggs this side of the Black Stump.

I have visited Stummers on a few occasions whilst in Birkenhead. They do the best breakfast and no grease. The scones are amazing too. They are warmed and come with butter, jam and clotted cream. They are to die for. The staff are very friendly and the manager always has time to chat to you. They have toilets on site, which is always a good thing. The daily papers are available for you to read after your meal. The café is spotless and the prices are very reasonable. I have not had the lunch time menu as yet, but I am sure it is just as good.

Whilst working in Birkenhead, my colleague and I decided to visit Strummers for breakfast. Nice clean cafe with friendly staff and great service. I chose the maxi whilst my colleague had the mini. Both were on our table very quickly and we're absolutely delicious. Well cooked and not at all greasy. No complaints from us and we'll definitely be back.

Good breakfast, normal price and friendly staff... Normal english breakfast bar.... Definitely come back again.

We have been here several times now and the food is always outstanding. The breakfasts are fabulous, not greasy at all and the scrambled egg is the absolute best!!! Would recommend to anyone. The owner as with all the staff are great, really polite and friendly. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Went here for breakfast, yes it's ok, but to be honest, I can make better at home. Service is friendly enough. So average but nothing outstanding.

After reading reviews I decided to pop down for breakfast. Parked nearby (£1) and was pleased to see they have the papers to read! Asked for my own selection of items that was no problem and a large breakfast with coffee and toast was £4.40 I usually pay £7+ - quality and freshened were better than expected and it was really nice - I shall be back.

We've been here a few times for breakfast and it is always excellent. Never greasy and always fresh with top quality ingredients. Haven't had the lunches yet but have seen them go past and they look great (mmm crinkly chips). I like the free refils on the tea/coffee with breakfast and the prices can't be beaten either. Friendly staff and great service too. Can hightly recommend :-)

This cafe came highly recommended by my friend Big Joan who visits every Wednesday. I have to say she wasn't wrong! The breakfast was freshly made, full of flavour and there was no grease in sight! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cafe itself is clean and welcoming.

I work in Birkenhead, so when having to work the odd Saturday because of an IT project release, I always use Strummers to get breakfast for me and colleagues. Great food and great service.

strummers is the best place to go and have breakfast, wether you want a good cooked breakfast or something lighter, the shop is always clean, and the staff are lovely and fiendly,especially chris the owner who will go out of his way to help you. and not a greasy spoon in sight, just tasty food.

Me and my niece live to come here on our shopping trips. Such a yummy breakfast and always clean and cosy. I think it's the owner, a guy who always seems to be around and attentive, now iv found out you do free refills I will be rekaxing with the papers there more myself. Fab

Regulars love it going on a weekly basis. Mum took me as she meets her friends there every week. Staff always friendly and helpful and very clean. Excellent value for money.

Strummers is a lovely friendly café, the manager and the staff are always helpful, we have been going for our breakfast once a week for years and we would not go anyway else, the café are is not a greasy spoon establishment and you will find it hard to find a bit of grease on your plate after your breakfast, great value for money keep up the good work strummers :)

Food here is always lovely, fresh and full of flavour. Excellent value for money and the staff are always helpful and friendly . The garlic chicken and steak paninis are great value at £3 which also include salad and the clotted cream warm scones are gorgeous. All in all it's a fantastic little place to eat, we love it !

I eat here regularly and it is the best café bar non in the north west, the food is outstanding and the staff are great, if you've not been its a must and the price is good, a greasy spoon it is not, try the breakfast, cooked fresh there and then so you may have to wait but its worth it and there's not a micro wave oven in sight!

Just had another lovely lunch at Strummers. Opted for the Cheese Omelette with salad and fries today. Really tasty lunch, fresh and not greasy at all..... I have been in Slimming World and went in, and they have catered for me when ive mentioned and ordered. So scrambled egg, beans, not much butter with wholemeal toast and a diet coke - NO SYNS! Today though we had a warm cherry scone with butter, jam and clotted cream, naughty but very, very nice!! P.S you can park on Sat for nothing if you park on the wasteland where Rocky's Gym used to stand!! Everyone I work with goes here aswell....... Freindly staff and good service and great value for money! BONUS! Thanks Strummers!! (need a nap now after eating)

Can't fault Strummers. I drive about 5 miles to come here. Really friendly staff, great service, fantastic food....DEFINITELY NOT GREASEY as the previous review states & there's plenty if parking spaces around!! I parked in the street down the side of the cafe, 30 seconds walk. I can't fault this place, always recommend it to friends & family, even their outside catering is fantastic. Well worth a visit.

I have had a wonderful breakfast at this café on a number of occasions. Always a great meal, excellent value. You would not get a better meal for your money. Very clean, staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. I would recommend that if you are in the area try it out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Nice tasting fry up, typically cheap greasy food but decent enough. No use if you're in a car, nowhere to park.
