Brunch with friends- very popular place so book! Coffee good, asked for hot but not really. Food was tasty and average prices for St Albans.

Fantastic service A large group of us arrived and were seated and served delicious food by fabulous friendly and efficient staff. A great choice on the menu for our large party to choose from. Highly recommended

Popped in for breakfast, wanted to support an indy cafe on my visit. Really lovely cafe, particularly good breakfast options for vegetarians / vegans. My vegetarian breakfast was incredible - delicious halloumi, mushroom, avocado, poached eggs, sourdough, tomato and spinach all cooked to perfection. I'll be back!

Got one of the salads which was nice but a bit stingey. It also said it came with “eggs” and only came with one

Lovely little cafe with nice light meals. The staff forgot a few things (to take our order, the dessert menu) but no harm done - it has a nice outdoors patio to sit and enjoy the weather. Had a Mediterranean salad and avocado on toast, pretty simple food and well executed.

Nice place close to town centre but very hard to find a parking space

Went in for a breakfast while staying at one of the local big hotel chain, good range of pastries, coffee, hot chocolate. Staff were really friendly and had a good relationship with locals and visitors. Recommended.

Top notch pancakes, bacon layered between each layer a nice touch. Delicious smoothie too. Recommended for Breakfast / Brunch.

1. Very loud screaming children destroyed our brunch. 2. Food average and some served almost cold! Eggs Florentine served hard boiled! 3. Service good to start with but nobody in attendance for 15 minutes at the end of our meals to order more food or to pay the bill - disappointing and does not live up to the standard expected. The Streetcafe has been refurbished to a very good standard. You will have to up your game if you want to attract more visitors

Had a lovely breakfast here. The food was delicious, very well presented and huge portions. The coffee was nice and hot and staff were very friendly and attentive. The best place for breakfast in town! Will definitely be back.

Lovely little cafe, perfect coffee and a pastry stop at the top of the highstreet in St. Albans. Didn’t have any food here but they have a todays special board. I enjoyed the ambience whilst having a flat white in a very friendly and warm cafe.

Lovely friendly team, cosy atmosphere and great food. It was really nice trying out the tapas having not long got back home from Spain! The daytime menu also looks great so we’ll definitely be returning to try that too. Also dog friendly which is always a bonus!

Went as a group of 6 to try the new tapas menu and ordered 2-3 plates each (to share) as well as drinks, was very well priced and the service was amazing, food came out quickly and everything was very enjoyable, nothing bad on the menu, will definitely be going again⭐️

We went to StreetCafe as a group of 6 last night to try their tapas and cocktails. Would definitely recommend! The food and drink were stunning and the service was really quick. The staff are very friendly and I look forward to going again!

We went for the first time for the new evening tapas menu. Warm welcome but that was about it. It wasn't busy, but we had to wait to order drinks, which we did at the same time as the food. The tapas was pretty bland, but to be fair my mother was Spanish so perhaps I have high expectations. The main disappointment was the service, we waited for ages after finishing without plates being cleared and ended up asking for the bill. No one asked us if the food was OK, if we enjoyed our dinner or even said goodbye. I am surprised it gets good ratings because there are some far better places to eat in St Albans.

Best cafe in St Albans! I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area. The food is so fresh and delicious, menu has lots of options and drinks are also 10/10. The service is also very good, staff are fast and attentive. It’s clear that a lot of work has been put into this cafe, after a brilliant renovation. Will definitely be coming back!

Great cafe i’ve been going for years food is still amazing, great vibe. My favourites are the honey cake and vegetarian breakfast i would definitely recommend trying. I love that it’s family run business and you can see straight away that they really care.

It was the best venue in town to meet up with a group of friends (cricket mums). Easy to book online and a lovely new space upstairs! We all loved our breakfast and the menu had something for everyone! Food was all delicious and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and we all loved the atmosphere. We're definitely looking forward to also book a tapas evening! Thank you Rita and your lovely staff. What a fantastic experience.

My partner and I recently visited ‘The Street Cafe’ in St Albans for lunch. The menu choices were very good & the service was excellent. Despite being very busy the staff were very attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend!

I am regular at Street cafe. After renovation it feels much more spacious, great interiors and attractive exteriors. Working ours are just great and the food variety is excellent. The menu is for everyone including vegan and vegetarian option. Last time I had shakshooka ( eggs and tomatoes). Really tasty. Lovely smoothies. Quick service and attention to details. Decided to try the new tapas menu with a few friends. We were blown away with the quality of the food - true authentic Spanish tapas. Just the right number of dishes to select from and everything was fabulous. Small but perfect wine list. Excellent service and great atmosphere. A gem of a restaurant. Can’t wait to return!

We came in on a Sunday morning for some breakfast and asked to sit inside. We were told to sit inside we required a booking (which we did not have) and that if there was space outside then we were welcome to sit outside. We found a table and were quickly seated and brought menus and cutlery by a polite young lady. After deciding what we would like to order, a waiter came over to take out order, but decided to look at his iPad for 5 minutes and leave. When I next caught his eye, he came over and said he’d come over in ‘2 minutes’. This happened a few times before I eventually got fed up and went to talk to him. He told me they were very busy and they couldn’t take our order outside and we shouldn’t have been seated in the first place. We were then moved inside where our order was taken. After I complained, mentioning I was unhappy and that if they didn’t have space they should have turned us away straight away, I was simply ignored. The food at this place is great, and the young staff our very friendly. Shame that 1 person had to ruin our experience!

I had a delicious Mediterranean waffle for lunch today at the Street Cafe with my friends. I also really enjoyed the “pick me up”fresh juice, well done Rita Keenan, we all loved the food and how you have transformed the cafe. Delicious and unique experience 🔝🫶

Prior to the reopening, Street Cafe was our favourite cafe in town. However, since the re opening service has been poor with food being served before drinks and drinks being left off the orders. Lots of confusion over a simple breakfast order. Food was amazing as usual as well as the coffee.

Great food from this place, their full English breakfast & fries are my favourite. The only problem is that they literally never answer their phone, it always just rings out. Sucks because I can never order before pickup or ask any questions except in person, which is a hassle. If I was able to contact them via phone, the rating would be 5*. PLEASE work on it guys, I’m begging!

Oh, I love this place. I come here when my parents are visiting me, and with my young son as well. We can be quite a chaotic group, but the staff are always faultlessly polite, efficient and friendly and the food and coffee are consistently delicious 😋. Every time. Highly recommended

Delicious food! Stopped here while waiting for our hotel to be ready, fresh off a long and stressful 8 hour flight, this place was just what we needed. Prices are surprisingly affordable for the quality. Instagram worthy presentation! And it tastes just as good as it looks 😋 Only minor thing is we had to go up to the counter to ask for the check, then waited an additional 20 minutes before going up and paying at the counter instead. But the staff were otherwise friendly.

Just off the main high street of St Alban's I came across number 13 Street Café. Far from being unlucky it I was warmly welcomed. A great varied menu along with the option of a quick tipple should you want it show why this is a popular option on market day. The option to sit outside is well used in summer and forward facing seats on to the street are ideal for rattling off that last minute email on your laptop. I will be back a sumptuous breakfast awaits me.

Needed somewhere for a spot of lunch, and this place was perfect. Loads of options for me and my boyfriend who has many allergies. Super friendly staff, well priced and very tasty! Also, there's reasonable priced parking in the street behind.

Nice cafe and good food, the staff unfortunately let it down. The service felt pressured from the start, we were given minimal time after sitting down after being asked twice what we'd like to order. My seat unfortunately backed onto the entrance and exit to the staff area, so throughout our meal the back of my chair was barged into. One staff member constantly made a snorting sound while she walked around serving which was quite off putting. Overall, a nice cafe for a Sunday coffee and food but tainted by staff.

Absolutely ravishing fresh breakfast and coffee

I have been here 3 or 4 times now and every time I have had a great experience! The street cafe has great food and drinks. I especially love the pastries here! The vegan breakfast was great and so was the jacket potato (with slaw & cheese)! The coffee and smoothies here are amazing too, particularly the green smoothie. Whenever I’m in St Albans its always on my list to visit for brunch, lunch or just coffee with family :)

Visited with a friend for lunch. It was a fine day so we decided to sit outside. We selected a table and provided with menus. Our order was taken soon after. I ordered the shakshuka and my friend the pulled pork sandwich. The shakshuka was delicious with a very healthy amount of chorizo. The eggs were somewhat unevenly cooked with some of the yolk overdone and the whites raw. That wasn't an issue for me but may be for someone? The dish came with one slice of bread which I didn't feel was enough for the amount of liquid in the dish. Other than my minor gripes, this is a solid place that has a great selection of food and staff that provide solid table service. Definitely visit this place if you want a quick and easy going lunch/brunch.

Popped in for a usual double espresso. Friendly greeting, clean modern toilet, plenty of inside and covered outside space. Lavazza coffee OK, prefer arabica but well pulled. Food all looked good.

I took my parents here for a coffee as we were nearby exploring the city. It is quite hidden yet so far the best place in St Albans, great service, fresh food and amazing cakes. I can highly recommend Chicken Schnitzel with fries :D

Friendly with a nicely cooked vegan breakfast

This is a fairly standard greasy spoon place near St Albans city centre offering traditional fare. Full English felt a little “mass catered” - bacon looked like it came off a steam tray for instance. Hash brown felt like a frozen supermarket job. Tomato was good, as were mushrooms. Toast portion was small. Butter was too cold so hard to spread. Giving this one four stars rather than three because the service was good and nothing in particular was terrible. In reality it’s a 3.5. Does the job. Prices acceptable.

Have visited the Street Cafe on a couple of occasions taking coffee only. The cafe has a rustic air, though it was a bit cramp, the coffee was good and reasonably priced. The staff are usually friendly and helpful, and the service is good. Though did notice on one particularly busy morning that the waitress was a bit on the off side. Recommend a visit if in St. Albans and need a change from the usual Costa offering.

Lovely little cafe, found by Google reviews and was not disappointed. Both me and my daughter went for the soup of day as we were both so cold! Soup was cauliflower and parsnip with honey, it was delicious, reasonably priced too. Staff were friendly and courteous. It is obviously very popular as we were lucky to get a table but I would definitely recommend.

Over-priced bland foods, with hardly any vegan options and no allergy conscious alternatives, which ultimately resulted in gastroenteritis. I suspect the café's food hygiene rating needs an urgent review! Covertly added service charges for pretentious obsequious staff and service that was disingenuous. I would not recommend and would urge others to avoid at all costs. StreetCafé serving street food, very apt indeed!

High prices for everything, average drinks, above average food, but sneakily added a service charge without notice. That's illegal, no notification was given verbally, I didn't notice any signage anywhere stating that this would happen. So, guys, you'll be hearing from my solicitors.

I wanted to sit and have a coffee without dogs barking,fighting each other under the tables, dog owners thought it was funny and let them carry on , everyone else thought it was a complete joke and left, Allowing Dogs questions food standards, and hygiene issues, I certainly won't be returning nor recommending it to friends.

Great little place to get brunch before heading into the city to explore the market. Food is delicious and the staff are friendly and attentive. Can get busy but it is worth waiting 5 minutes for a table, many of which are made up of old sewing machine stands which adds to the character.

I give a perfect score, for the 4 previous visits. This morning visited at 8:30 am as website suggested it will be open, this time took my family and friends with me. Door was open, walked in, when someone -I must add- not really nicely said, they open at 9am, and the website is wrong, trying to change it for months, and shut the door behind us as we were leaving. I just don't understand why triggered that behaviour, I certainly won't go back, as we had much better breakfast at the Beach House at the end....but they deserve the 5 star for the previous visit, which were great.
