Street Kings Smoke Shack in Ashford

We went to the restaurant which was meant to close at 10pm only to find out when we arrived (before 9pm!) that the kitchen may be closed. The man behind the bar was lovely and told us it should be fine and just tell the chef what we would like. Chef was so rude when we went to order and laughed at us saying ‘are you joking?’ Told us he was due to finish at 9pm (despite it saying 10pm) and refused to make anything we asked for and said that all he could offer was a sharing platter but even then he would be late off so wasn’t happy about making it. We felt so uncomfortable that we told him not to bother and just left. Won’t be visiting again or recommending. Terrible customer service!

We went to The Smoke Shack Ashford for their soft launch in their new venue, The Tap Room last Saturday and the food was exceptional. The standouts were definitely the pulled pork and pulled chicken donuts and the dirty fries. I’m slightly nervous they don’t look like they’re on your regular menu as they were honestly some of the best food we’ve ever eaten. We’ve been raving about them to friends and family since. Please thank the chef for us, he was brilliant. We will definitely be visiting again.

This place is great from the food to the atmosphere. They have a selection of smoked meats and sides which will satisfy any meat eaters! As it was late evening we decided to go for all the starters which are all delicious. We also tried the special starter "smoked pork ribs and maple syrup"all to die for !!! Had a lovely meal here last night. The staff were really warm and welcoming which gave the restaurant a great atmosphere. Highly recommend the beef brisket Mac and cheese and the key lime pie too, it was exceptional. Loved the music choice in the restaurant too. Drinks were great too, nice IPA and the house gin is a must try! A great little find in whitstable! Looking forward to visiting again.

Well, not much a can say other than... WOW! The food was out of this 🌎, if your visiting Whitstable its a must. The staff are amazing , thanks for having us and we will definitely be seeing you soon! Thanks for an amazing time.

Absolutely delicious Caribbean food last night at the Smoke Shack restaurant in Whitstable. Couldn’t fault a single dish and the team were so friendly and welcoming. A definite recommendation and we can’t wait to come back soon and try something else. If you get the chance to go on a Sunday, definitely order the chicken curry!

The sides were nice, good presentation, but, for the price, I thought the meat portions were small and I did not find the brisket in particular to be that good. Certainly nothing like you get in the US.

Dropped into the Coach Works with some mates yesterday for a few beers, and weren't planning to eat there, but go tempted by the Smoke Shack, also recommended by one of our party.. In the end three of us ordered from them and really glad we did. There was a 30 minute wait for food but that's OK, because we were told that when we ordered, so it's a question of chill out and have a pint. I don't think it's at all fair to any venue, to complain about the wait when you have been told there will be one and anyway, once the food arrived no-one cared anyway. They had run out of brisket so we ordered two racks of ribs and one pulled pork box, no sides (just as well, I think we would have struggled), and when the food arrived both quality and quantity were impressive. The ribs were sublime, the coating flavourful and in no way overly sweet or sticky; ribs you could eat with your fingers that actually seemed to have been prepared with that in mind. The pulled pork was similar, not overly sticky or saucy, just lean and packed with flavour. The lack of fat or grease left in the recyclable packaging was also impressive. Like most good street food, it's not the cheapest but it's light years ahead of the crud produced by many national chains or "pile it high" dodgy eateries (although these guys do seem to do pretty well on the "pile it up" front as well). Hugely impressed and will be going back myself and recommending to others.

We've visited Ashford coachworks for lunch today. Best service! Best chips! Best Mac& cheese! Best pulled pork sandwich! Highly recommend this place. Thank you so so much! We will be back very soon😊

There's a great variety of food in coachworks and Smokeshack is ond of the best. Had the pulled pork box and it came with some of the most delicious chips ive had yet. The seasoning was amazing

Fantastic BBQ brisket. So tender and great flavour. Glad it wasn’t covered in an overpowering bbq sauce and the meat, spices, cooking methods and the chefs skill allowed to shine through. The Mac and cheese is definitely worth a special mention and a must for me on my next visit. The fries are a winner too. We have been twice now and both times the meals were spot on. Baked beans were a great surprise and will have them again. For the people complaining about the prices - you get what you pay for and this quality is worth paying for. The staff also have been so friendly and helpful.
