Really good Mexican-style street food , serving tacos and burritos, as well as a range of other items. I usually go for a burrito, they're excellent value and very filling- medium size is usually enough for me. There's a range of fillings available, including vegan options.

Best burritos in Theale! Have been to get food from this place many times due to living close to it, anything that we have ordered from there is delicious! Lovely owner as well, would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Theale ☺️

Excellent spot to eat on the go! The owner was extremely kind to us, and he gave us great menu recommendations. It's very clear he seriously cares about the quality of the service and food, and it shows both in the taste of the final product and in the friendly atmosphere. I'm not giving it 5 stars on the food just because the empanadas were phenomenal but they were a bit on the small side for the price (although we're originally from Argentina, so you might say we're biased here!). We're still coming back for more, and we strongly recommend paying them a visit, that's for sure!

Great food, big portions. Have tried mac and cheese with fried chicken and chipotle and mustard sauce along with habanero wings (They were spiced but good spice) Dirty fries with pulled chicken, lettuce and salad, cheese and Parmesan is a good combo along with chipotle sauce.

We had takeaway, great value for money, we had a burrito each and 1 portion of chips and 1 portion of mac americano to share, it was a lot of food and saved some for our lunch tomorrow! Thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic experience, all the staff were so welcoming and attentive. Had the Don Carne Burrito which was so flavourful, and perfectly seasoned, genuinely the best halal burritos I’ve had in a long time. The menu has great variety of options, and had nice spicy sauces if you like a kick. Also tried the chicken wings tortillas chips and everything tasted amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious halal Mexican food with amazing service. Can’t wait to come back!

I don’t know how this place could be so quiet. Genuinely lovely staff who are more than happy to answer questions or recommend anything or just have a conversation when they can. Amazing food especially for the price, would certainly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Great Tex Mex* (and more) option in Theale/Reading. Would highly recommend their Mac Americano (worth the wait) with all the trimmings a great Mac & Cheese. Menu also very interesting including the Don Carne (again recommended with full trimmings) I didn't dine in but the location is quite cozy - but well appointed with Tables sitting 4 and some bar stools with a Eat and Go feel. Initially Parking put me off - but there is plenty Free On Street Parking. Also EV chargers near by.

Update: I have tried just about everything on the menu and I have loved every dish. The food is still really tasty, very good value and the staff friendly. It's definitely worth the drive for the best Mexican food I've had in the Reading area. The food is AMAZING, it's exceptional quality, tastes authentic, is really good value for money and the Mac n cheese is divine. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and it is obvious that the owner loves what he does. I will take a leaf out of Billy's book and be back more often.

I had a last minute bachelorette party and Jagar went above and beyond to assist us with a delicious take away spread! There was so much food it was incredible value. I would highly recommend!

Ordered on Uber eats after seeing all these great reviews. Portions are mediocre, what I would expect to be served at a high school. Very dissatisfied and they forgot all the sauces to top it off. The food is ok but more suitable for children (they said spicy but not even) than adults. You get a much bigger portion (double the size) from Tortilla for less money for the exact same thing.

My partner and I wound up stopping by for lunch on a whim because we were in the area. We wound up ordering the tinga chicken and also the beef brisket burritos on the lunch special. The food is *very* fresh, and has great flavours with a very satisfying portion size. We also chatted with the owner a bit, it's very clear that he cares about what he's serving here, and is quite friendly. I would recommend if you're into Mexican / Tex-Mex, or even just curious to try it- and depending on other circumstances I may become a regular here.

Went here to eat for 5 days straight during my work experience week. Amazing food and very friendly staff

We came here tonight for a family meal and sat at one of the little tables inside. We were really blown away by both quality of the food and the service. The place seems like mainly a takeaway place but if you eat in they bring you proper cutlery and serving dishes. The food is so good, the best Mexican I've had in years and years, maybe the best ever? The service was so warm, the woman working their offered our son tastes of the food when we said we were worried about spice. He loved the chicken! She also thoughtfully brought us over different pots of sauces for us to try- and she was right they were so good! The owner came and chatted to us and told us about how he prepped the beef 3 days in advance ( and honestly you can tell this from the flavours and how tender it is) . We will definitely be back and will be telling friends about this gem of a place.

The food is amazing, one of the best Mexican foods I have eaten for a long time. You can feel the taste of the vegetables being fresh and all dishes cooked fresh for you, and the team is amazing they are super stars. I can only recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

I’m from the states, and have missed really good Mexican food while living in the UK. These are the best empanadas I’ve had, and the habanero sauce is so good!

Being a big foodie and always exploring the best restaurants and street food places all around the world, it is so refreshing and so incredibly rare sadly in today’s world to find a restaurant like Street Food Shack where they put their heart and soul into cooking, they don’t rush the food preparation process, the cooking process, for example the owner who’s a really nice friendly guy and so passionate about cooking, he explained to me the beef they marinate for at least a day then they slow cook it for another day, they pick the finest ingredients carefully from all around, they get their meats from the best local butchers and as he was telling me passionately about his restaurant and their food I kept thinking to myself, wow it is really no wonder why this place still has a 5.0 star review rating with hundreds of reviews which is extremely rare, and at first I was quite skeptical if it’s really true if the food is really that good before I got the restaurant I just found them on Google driving back to London on the M4, but once I tried their beef quesadilla and their beef empanadas I felt so happy that it was totally worth stopping for a quick late evening dinner here. Everything was incredibly delicious, the pulled beef almost melted in my mouth and had such a lovely flavour, the empanadas were also super fresh, crispy on the outside but not dry, full of flavour and lovely beef filling with beautiful dips on the side they give for both the empanadas and for the quesadillas. The owner told me they also make the empanadas from scratch as well as their tortilla chips. If you have a passion for food, Street Food Shack really has it all, amazing quality food, great friendly service and a great vibe in this small but really cute little Mexican street food restaurant. I absolutely recommend stopping here for a quick meal even if you are not local and just passing by on the M4 like I did. I’ll definitely come back here often and I’m so happy I found this place!!!

Don’t go to Taco Bell, this is where you get amazing Mexican food, eat in or take out!!! The service is second to none. Never even knew about it, a visit is a must!

I have had both a chicken burrito and beef brisket empanadas now and both were absolutely delicious! If you go in and speak to the guys there you will understand why it tastes so good!! The owner spends 3 days getting the beef just right. Empanadas are probably my favourite at the moment! Will report back after trying the Quesadillas!

Placed an order here on UberEats for pickup several days ago, this was my 4th/5th time getting food from here and they never disappoint, the gentleman who own the place is great, always up for a chat and super friendly and welcoming, the young girl behind the counter was also super friendly as well. This time around I had to try some of the Empanadas which came out fresh and hot, alongside those I had a beef burrito as well which never fails to taste amazing. To anyone in the area that hasn’t tried their food yet or even those just passing through I’d highly recommend giving it a go, the prices are reasonable, the food is always fresh and tasty and the people that work there are great as well.

The food was so good, I drove 45 minutes from Oxford and left feeling like I was definitely going to be doing that again. FaceTimed my partner half way through the meal to rave about the empanadas. Delicious and super friendly staff

Ate at Blue Collar today and was served by the lovely Jack. His customer engagement was 100%, sharing knowledge of the spices and ingredients. His 16 hour beef brisket waxs amazing and cassava fries simply awesome. All his sauces and marinades are freshly made with local ingredients. 10 out of 10 thanks Jack x

On a whim I tried some loaded cassava fries in their pop up at Blue Collar corner in Reading. Such a lovely surprise, great service and delicious food. I’ll be going through to Theale to try the restaurant.

This is the closest I've found to true TexMex with real authentic flavours and the tortilla chips baked in the shop. We tried the empanadas, the burrito, the loaded nachos and the Mac mexicana. Amazing food, the best Mexican Food, better than Canada. MAC & CHEESE 5*, BEEF QUESADILLAS 5*, CHCKEN WINGS 5*, NACHOS 5*, CASSAVAS 5* & STEAK TACOS 5*, , so delicious. The Streetfood Shack serves outstanding food. Always delicious, very fresh, perfect portion sizes and nicely served by friendly and attentive staff. We are regular visitors, so had tried everything on the menu, apart from the Taco's, which are a fairly new addition. We had these tonight and, as expected they too were delicious. Thankyou to Jack and all the guys working there for yet another exceptional experience.

I'd like to start by saying it really pains me having to write this review. I'm a HUGE fan of mexican food, and burritos are probably what I'd order on death row as my last meal. And I've been a staunch fan of Street food shack since it opened and being in the village meant I no longer had to go into town to get my burrito fix from Mission Burrito. I'd recommended SFS to people left right and centre. The owner and staff are great and when you visit you'd leave happy. They even gave my son a "Birthday burrito" card to redeem a free burrito because we went on his birthday. The three stars are for the quality we used to get and because the staff are genuinely so nice. However over the 9-12 months or so, the quality has really slipped. I've had to start working late, so instead of finishing work, heading to the restaurant and heading home I've been ordering on deliveroo and timing it right so the food arrives as I'm locking up and setting the alarm. It's lazy but convenient. And they were always orders of approx £50-65, so not exactly small amounts of money (screenshot attached of deliveroo history) I'm not sure if the problem is making them smaller, or not as well made to counteract the charges deliveroo must levy on app orders, but every order I've placed on the app has been wrong, or below average quality and small portion sizes, I can't help but feel it'd be different ordering in the restaurant. For example, I'd order a chicken quesadilla and beef would get delivered. And vice versa, if I ordered beef, I'd get chicken. It got to the stage where I was ordering one of each, just so we'd get the one we actually wanted (and have a spare to eat later!). Consistency seems to be hit and miss too. If you order a Don Carne burrito one week, it's superb, with everything in it in good amounts and proportions and great flavour. But order it a few weeks later and it's 90% rice, little to no sauce and one or two jalapenos. I once mentioned on messenger (note, NOT a complaint) that my son's quesadilla was quite badly burnt and got no reply (image attached), while it wasn't a complaint as such, being ignored left a bad taste... but yet we still kept ordering. Tonight was the last straw and we won't be back I'm afraid. Ordered beef quesadilla, received chicken quesadilla (should have ordered both I suppose!) Beef burrito was about an inch in diameter (photo attached) and didn't have the BBQ sauce in as requested, and very little meat. Don Carne burrito was nearly all rice, and only had chicken in it (don carne is beef AND chicken), and no chipotle sauce that I could taste at all and one or two jalapenos. It was almost flavourless, and I'm sorry to say that I got deliveroo to refund the quesadilla, and the two burritos (the mac and cheese and tofu burrito on our order were ok) Whatever happened to the massive, spicy, zesty flavour explosions that were the burritos from when you opened? You could taste they were authentic! I used to LOVE your food. You used to beat Mission Burrito hands down, but with the portion sizes becoming smaller, quality being too inconsistent to know reliably if you're going to enjoy your meal, and the regular errors means I shall go back to only getting burritos when I can get to Mission Burrito instead. In the words of parents: I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.

Lovely little place on Theale High Street... Theale has been calling out for a place like it! Well priced, warm service and lovely food. Highly recommended for a quick bite to eat 🙂

Our first time at this brilliant establishment. The manager although very busy was gracious and attentive. He let us try some of his home made sauces he took his time to explain how he gets all his ingredients from local suppliers, how he prepares the brisket over a number of days and how he wanted to open a business that offers flavoursome nutritional food. Value for money was very good as the portion sizes were large. It was a mistake going in hungry as I wanted everything on the menu. When we got home the food was still hot and I loved it. My loyalty card will be full in no time. Parking available outside or if not There is a carpark 2-3 min walk.

Gosh, what can I say. I didn't think I was a fan of Mexican food until I tasted it yesterday here at the Street Food Shack. It was an amazing find for my friend and I to meet for lunch. Loved the place, clean and tidy; service with a smile; staff helpful and pleasant and the food was absolutely delicious, freshly made with quality ingredients. I was surprised at how crispy the lettuce was, now that is fresh. The owners' passion for his venture was so very obvious, from tantalising the customer's palate with good, wholesome and nutritious food, a great atmosphere through to looking after his staff and customers. Thank you all. I'll be back next time I am in the area and/or meeting friends.
