Couple plus adult son. Booked in here as a motorhome stopover. Table booked for the evening. Landlord was happy for us to park up with permission in the morning so we could spend the day with our son who’s moved in locally. Lovely olde worldy country pub. Clean, friendly, proper home cooking & prices. Play area for kids outside and covered seating also outside. Peaceful nights sleep on sloping grass. Defo recommend and defo return.

Stayed 1 night in our motorhome on the way from County Durham to Dorset. Great place to stop, lovely country pub in a beautiful village. The kitchen was closed due to some work being carried out but they were good enough to cook us pizza which was excellent. The owner, staff and customers were all very friendly. We would definitely stay here again if passing.

We stayed here last night in our motorhome, the owner has a hard standing car park and a field at the rear of the pub. As the car park was busy we opted for the field, which is a good size, pretty level and nice and firm. I’d read a few reviews to say this was a “proper” pub and oh my goodness did it live up to that. When I rang ahead to see if we could stay the owner was really nice and helped, he even came out to meet us as we arrived. We went into the pub and there were a lot of locals who soon started chatting with us, all so really friendly. Sadly we’d arrive too late for the main menu but the owner told us he has a pizza oven and serves pizza’s till whatever time. So pizza it was, and it was so tasty and nice and hot. I’d definitely go back there again because it ticks all the boxes, good food, well priced, plenty of ales but most of all fantastic people.

We had a planned an overnight stop here in the van and were welcomed like long lost friends on arrival. The outside of the pub gave us the 'wow' factor and the inside is quirky and authentic which we loved. The Six Nations were on when we arrived (plus point for me) and 'the craic was good'! I'm a vegan so tbh I rarely get a meal that's exceptional (unless it's a specialist restaurant) and my meal here was about what I'd expect in a country pub used to meat eaters ie average (but then again; I'm hard to please), but my husband's meal (sausages in a giant Yorkie) was 10/10 all served by a delightful young lady. As the evening drew on, I had the honour of spending a long time chatting to one of the locals who can only be described as a 'legend'. I had the most magical evening and felt like I'd stepped through a portal into another world as we chatted about the village and the origins/quirks of the pub; of 'the old ways'; of folk music and Morris dancing; of living vs existing; of true happiness vs chasing rainbows... I will remember this night for a very long time!

Stopped here off the A43 when driving from the south coast to Peterborough. It's not far at all, easy to get to and is dog friendly. We got there 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the afternoon break, but we weren't made to feel hurried. With our large dog, we could sit in the gardens or bar area. Two lots of locals offered to swap seats with us to give us a bigger table for food as the bar area was quite full. Such a friendly, proper local. Everyone made us feel so welcome and a part of the community. The landlord made a fuss of the dog and the landlady couldn't have been more helpful with our order. The food was good pub food, cooked perfectly and delivered just as we'd asked for ( one of our party was a fussy eater). I can't recommend this place highly enough, a real gem! I also noticed that they had parking suitable for motorhomes. Thanks for giving us an oasis in the middle of a long journey.

Phil, along with his super staff and lovely locals made us feel very welcome and part of the family. The menu is varied with something for everyone and the food and atmosphere were great. The owners have plans to extend the Grade II listed pub, build new toilets and make the kitchen bigger. The car park at the rear is due to be tarmacked when the weather is drier and there is also a large field for the drier months. We’ll definitely stay over again when we’re next in the area!

We phoned through our booking shortly before we arrived at 1.30 pm on Sunday. The car park is fairly large and so too is the garden which had a decent children's playing area.We decided to sit outside and after placing our order at the bar, we returned to our seats.Internally this pub has a " visit your grandparents " feel and has bags of charm....which is added to by excellent friendly staff. We ordered 2 x roast beef dinners which at £8.50 each, were an absolute bargain. Our food was excellent, beef was very soft and the roast potatoes were delicious. The portions were generous also. After clearing the plates, we ordered the banofee pie with cream, perhaps the nicest desert I have ever had.....and I've had many! With 2 pints of lemonade and a pot of tea this totalled an excellent £33.I really enjoyed our visit to the Stratton Arms which is situated a short distance from the A43 near Brackley. The place has an excellent atmosphere and welcomes well behaved dogs also.We met the landlord as we left and told him how much we enjoyed our food and visit. An excellent country pub with tonnes of charm and atmosphere......and the food is not bad either!Visited 23rd August 2020.

This used to be a beautiful village pub you could visit in the summer and sit watching the river which flows through the garden. Sadly since turning into a park up for motor homes it looks like steptoes yard. Driving past every day all you can see are large piles of rubbish and wood resembling large bonfires. Sad but the lack of care outside puts me off visiting the inside again. The photos here do not represent how it now looks.

I'm a bit struggling with some of the reviews on here relating to the place we actually went to. Anyway...The Stratton Arms is a small, old fashioned (and I presume old) pub in the pretty village of Turweston. There is a car park and large beer garden and play area out back and it's on a quiet street in a quiet area. The staff were friendly enough and there is a good range of beers. The signs say families and dogs welcome although I don't think we saw either inside the pub.The menu is quite extensive, in a such small place that should have been read as a bit of a warning sign. The food isn't particularly expensive by pub grub standards but then it isn't particularly good. Nothing awful, nothing inedible but paying to sit down to a meal that resembled something I'd throw together on a wet Wednesday evening after a long day at work wasn't impressive. Despite the sign outside and despite comments on here this wasn't home cooked food, nothing we had or saw the people sat next to us have that hadn't been in a freezer ten minutes before it was served. Such a lot that could have been improved; either something has happened in the last few weeks or the reviewers raving about the homemade dishes have very low standards ( or are mates with the landlord). It wasn't a terrible experience but it wasn't really a very good one either,I don't think I will be back to eat there.

We called into the Stratton Arms for dinner to make a change from our usual Brackley pubs. The pub is quite small and what I would call a 'proper pub'. We were made to feel welcome and shown to a table in the dining room. The menu has a good choice of traditional home cooked food. The food arrived in good time, all very well cooked and tasted fantastic. My only negative was that I didn't have room for pudding. At £27 for 3 of us incl drinks it was also excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend this pub.

The publican "Phil" knows his beers and is a good host, ask what he recommends and take the benefit of his knowledge. The food is very good, atmosphere good and in the summer there is a nice outdoor area which also takes camper vans. I think its closed on Tuesdays.

This pub in the centre of Turweston is very welcoming to motorhomes where you can overnight for free. EHU is available for a small fee. Real ales are served at sensible prices and the food is very popular. Large garden to the rear with picnic tables, children's play area and barbecues. Landlord is very friendly as are the locals. Have stayed here twice now and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We spent two nights this week in our Motorhome behind this pub. The landlord Phil is very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Turweston is a lovely village and our two dogs enjoyed the walks in the area, and the dogs were both welcome in the pub. We had a meal on our first evening and it was spot on. We hope to be back in the Spring next year.

We came across this little gem when out for a walk in Wendover. Although the outside seating allocation was full due to the lovely weather, we easily found a spot inside. We both ordered the large breakfast, which arrived promptly. For the price, you got a very good portion. The black pudding was very tasty, the hash browns were perfectly crispy, the bacon was meaty with a nice margin of fat for flavour; also, perfectly cooked eggs, well cooked sausages etc. The food was piping hot too. Our only criticism would be the use of semi-skimmed milk. Recent studies show that full-fat dairy products are protective against diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Large numbers of people and cafes are switching back to whole milk. I recommend you use whole milk too for health and flavour reasons, as it makes coffee etc. taste much creamier and you need less of it!
