I was looking for somewhere to sit outside as the sun was shining. The Strand has a good sized seating area out the back. Anyway due to the British summer weather! I changed my mind and sat inside. Really nice bar with not your usual run of the mill spirits and nice to see a drinks menu on the tables. Good selection of cocktails. A lunchtime menu for light bites and evening menu. Food came quickly. I can see it as a great social pub for all ages.

Usually this pub offers good quality food and drinks. However today I had the 'ham hock and cheese croquettes with black garlic violin. Disappointing, as the croquette had no ham hock and no cheese. Just potato.

Visited after Red Willow Tap Takeover as it's an inferior craft ale at the best of times, as are many chosen by this pub chain unfortunately. Obviously it wasn't going down well with the locals as it was still hanging around. Consequently only stayed for one half. Again, saddened by the lack of maintenance and hygiene that appears to be a theme with the Scarlet Group of establishments. We'd also visited The Volley in Bristol and the White Hart in Wells the same week and found them dirty and run down. Not sure if it's down to a lack of focus and imagination or the intention to cream off all the profits and sod the punters. The Sandford Park Alehouse is a far better choice than The Strand. Fabulous craft ales, great food, lovely environment and clean. As for Bristol King St and Wells, there are loads of better options. They Volley passed it's best several years ago. For some reason, Scarlet Pubs couldn't seem to make a go of their best pub, The Nettle and Rye in Clifton. Really loved that place. Also visited The Butchers Hook in Thornbury on Friday night. Again, Red Willow dominated the board so had to resort to a can of Arbour but enjoyed the great atmosphere and pizza. Need to brighten the outside tables up but the place was clean despite being very busy. The group should look at Sidney & Eden on the A38, Gloucester Rd, Bristol as an example of a good craft ale bar. Need some refurbishment but amazing otherwise.

Never leave reviews normally (good or bad) but went for food & drinks yesterday. We had 6 different dishes, all were really really bad. The “pulled pork” was literally just pork mince, nachos inedible. Pink chicken wings. Calamari was not good at all, so chewy & the batter fluorescent. Mac & Cheese balls cold in the middle. Side salad was ok tbf. For what they’re charging - gotta be better?! Pints were really nice & great choices. Staff nice.

Dropped in for a bite to eat on Saturday at lunchtime. Party consisted of and 2 under 18yos. The venue presents well with a tasteful interior. The large windows allow for an abundant amount of natural light and ability to people watch. The rear garden is large, with plenty of outdoor seating. The venue is dog friendly, which was great. There are plenty of regional indepedent beers on tap, I think it was around 18 in total. Staff were very friendly, explaining the beers and offering tastes before ordering. Food ordered was loaded fries with katsu curry sauce. Delicious at around £8 for the single serve. Servi e was excellent with attentive staff and time taken to serve was good at around 20 minutes. Enough for a good chat with kids. Overall a great little spot to visit if in Cheltenham and want a nice beer with some great food.

Went here for their bingo night recently. Pretty average pub although the staffing of the bar was lacking in both speed and presence - often there was nobody behind the bar. Bingo was alright although bordering on the shambolic with almost no dabbers available and the MC randomly wandering off to chat to patrons in the middle of number draws.

We ate here twice during our stay. Not many restaurants serve food on Monday and Tuesday nights in Cheltenham. Both experiences were excellent. First was for lunch. Food was good and service was great. Second was for dinner. Food was excellent and so was the service. Great new menu. Service was polite and pleasant, but we certainly miss the humour and warmth of the old staff. It appears that the lovely old staff have been replaced. Understandable, but definitely missing the time taken to get to know you. Particularly the young blonde girl who previously worked there. Hope wherever she is - she is doing well! ! ! !

This place never fails to hit the spot with regards to food. This is the second time my husband has had a Sunday roast here and the first time for me and I was not dissapointed. Choice between Beef and Lamb, we had one of each and both were tender and a pure delight to eat. They don't scimp on the meet here, it's beautifully carved and the veg were perfectly seasoned cooked to my liking too (not rock hard and not a mush!) My husband think the veg might change each week but I can't be sure on that. We had mashed sweed, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes (could have been a tad crispier for me but hey, it was gooooood) beautiful yorkshire pudding. I'm sure there was another veg but I can't recall now and lastly the gravy, the best ever. I always believe that's what makes the difference between a good roast and a sublime roast and ours was the latter ;0) Also, I have to mention the Staff here as they are all very attentive and make you feel so welcome. I find the service here very good indeed, can't fault it.To the Management here - love your work ethics here, always an enjoyable visit, thank you.

. . proseguirá hasta Montpellier mañana.
