Stran-wiches in Belfast

They ran out of the only vegan option after 40 mins of opening but they didn’t tell anyone, so I queued for a good 20/25 mins of my lunch hour and wasn’t able to get anything. The vegan option looks great but considering there are so many sandwiches on the menu and only one vegan option is a bit disappointing

Just had my first ever stran-wich despite living right next door, and it was everything you dream of in a sandwich. Definitely ate a bit of paper by accident though.

Always an exciting and varied menu to try. Amazing flavour combos like roasted peach and Gorgonzola have been 😘👌 Can’t wait to get up again and try some new stuff. Top quality ingredients and the line always moves so quickly.

Consistently the best lunch in Belfast!! Always hits the spot, the veggie and vegan selections are always incredible and I love seeing the menu adapt as the seasons change to reflect fresh produce and flavours. Service is always amazing, so friendly and really quick considering how fresh everything is. Love it!

We visited this sandwich place when we went to the Botanical gardens was good but not "best ever" as advertised. It may be better now, as this from last September (2023). We got the Brent-atta which said it had pesto and basil but I couldn't really taste either. We also shared the Golden Girl sandwich, which seems to be their most popular choice. It was a good sandwich with turkey, bacon, and lettuce, tomato, and the bread is good but it was missing something like sauce or flavor in the bread or something. Both of their crisps have mushroom flavoring and yhere is hardly anywhere to sit at the restaurant. We took our sandwiches back to the Gardens, but there wasn't a table or anything there either. I would recommend this place if you have some where to sit and enjoy and if they offered a side of sauce and crisps. Not bad, but not the best ever either.

Divine sandwiches!!! So well filled, you can feel the quality of the ingredients. The bread which is baked daily in the house is so fresh and tasty. Definitely to come back to try out the rest of the menu. 5 stars!

Wish i could give 4.5 stars , First time trying here, Service was super quick staff lovely and friendly. The hot honey chicken tenders were to die for, some of the nicest we have had, and the fries were lovely hot and crispy, and the canolies were delicious, our only sight let down, was we both ordered the cold cut sandwiches, and both asked for no red pepper relish on ours only to get back and realise both had it on 🙈 a simple mistake, we would still go back to try more items :-)

The sandwiches are pricey but huge, delicious and use premium ingredients. Staff are really friendly, place has a family feel. Favourite place to get lunch in Belfast.

Had heard the hype around this place so was excited to try it but honestly quite disappointed, myself and a friend ordered 2 sandwiches and split them. The caesar wrap was dreadful, literally all lettuce and for the price of it definitely not worth it. Don’t think i’ll be back, there are better sandwich places in Belfast

First visit here and the sandwiches were fantastic! Sat outside in the sunshine and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!

I had chicken lemon basil in herby bread. Best sandwich I have eaten! Everything about the sandwich was 1st class. Brought it home and ate it with a knife and fork. Complete lunch and only a tenner. Thanks

After hearing about Stran wiches from Instagram I decided to take the kids and see what the craic was. We weren't disappointed!!! The kids loved their's and mine was devoured in minutes. Delicious 😋 and a thumbs up from stuffed mouths

Just finished my first Stranwich, I ordered the pastrami. It was bigger than expected, and PACKED FULL of pastrami and delicious crispy coleslaw and pickles. I’d hoped to save the second half until later… But after washing my face, having gone nose deep in this thing, I couldn’t help but pick up the second half 5 minutes later. I took mine home to eat, but vibes were great in the restaurant and it had a fresh but local feel. Staff were great and even came out to hand me my food, rather than the usual call over to the counter to collect. Was a nice touch! The coffee was also lovely. If I had the £10-15 to grab lunch here every day, I probably would. Thanks!

The dream sandwich. Huge, bursting fillings on the most amazing focaccia. A highlight of every trip to Belfast, don’t be put off by the price, one will serve two hungry people! And it’s bloody worth it anyway.

100% recommend Stran-wiches! The food speaks for itself but seeing the owner do a spot check on all the food before it’s handed out was just refreshing to see. Serious amount of pride goes into their work.

Had my first experience of Stran-wiches today - oh my, absolutely fantastic. I had The Slider - delicious patties, bun and cheese 👏🏻 fries were also 👌🏻 Andrea is lovely and it’s great to see Stran-wiches doing so well!

The atmosphere of the shop is exactly what I’d hoped it would be, a small local establishment with a clear view of the fresh sandwiches being prepped in the back. There was a little bit of a wait but that’s to be expected for fresh homemade quality and I didn’t mind that at all. The lady serving (who I assume is the owner) was very pleasant and provided great customer service. I opted for the “Cold Cuts” but it wasn’t quite the winner I’d hoped it to be with the high in quality cured Italian meats overpowering the the flavour from the rest of the ingredients - so sadly not a choir singing the same tune. Hoping I might find the perfect sandwich at my next visit.

I love this place. The folks that run it are lovely. The sandwiches are an experience. No joke. In my last several visits I've had food, that if served in a fine dining setting, would be amongst the best plates of food I've had in my life. The duck confit banh mi was insane. The scallop brioche bap, with black pudding butter and cauliflower was out of this world. On more than one occasion I've drove back to tell them how good it was. Beyond the sandwiches, their cannolis, cookies and coffee are flawless. A perfect, classic, Italian style espresso. If all that isn't enough the tunes are usually brilliant while you wait too. You have got to go. Its one of the best places to eat on this planet.

I was excited to try this place while visiting Belfast but I found it underwhelming. I appreciate they offer vegan options but they lacked creativity and were overpriced compared to the meat and cheese packed sandwiches on offer. I paid a tenner for a pakora sandwich. Most vegans just want a plant-based version to the regular menu items which is super easy these days. Instead, most places (like here when I visited) always lean into offering the vegans Indian or Middle Eastern flavours which becomes predictable and tedious.

Had a second visit to this wonderful and delicious sandwich shop I saw they had the salted beef sandwich and it looked delicious. Ordered it and it lived up to any expectations I had...well it tasted even better than what I could have believed it to before tasting it. It brought out home comfort memories of years gone by. The bread was delicious, bursting with flavour. The combination of the salted beef with the cabbage really went well together. I love to just pop in and grab a delectable sandwich to enjoy on the way home. The queue was mad but well worth the wait. Staff are friendly and food is prepared quickly.

£8.50 for Chicken Caesar wrap. Thought it was a great deal when it came out looking huge. Shocked to find it was entirely lettuce with a singular piece of chicken. Would be great for a Guinea pig or other small vegetable eating creatures. Mates sandwich looked decent tho

I yearn for a Stranwich every waking moment

I've wanted to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint! There was quite a queue with a lot of people waiting for their order (they give you a ticket and call out your number when it's ready). It's quite cramped but there's a few places to sit and we weren't waiting for too long. The service was quick and very friendly. It's pretty expensive but the portions are massive, and very fresh and tasty so it's worth it as a treat. I got the Crispy Sweet Chili Aubergine and it was amazing. They also do coffee/drinks and cookies if you fancy.

One sandwich is enough for two, so we shared!

Great selection of sandwiches, all filling options looked delicious. The BLTC was especially good. Photographed is the Like Tony Said on focaccia. I would highly recommend and it's great value for a filling lunch. Worth a bit of a queue!

I had BLTC sandwich which was nothing short of tasty. Well presented and much better than I was expecting as it is, in the grand scale of sandwiches, a bit of a basic sandwich compared to the other sandwiches which are more elaborate in their ingredients. Would 100% come back and wait in a queue for another one. People on this complaining about things other than the actual quality of the food shouldn't be allowed to review, portrayed by the fact most people reviewing the food leave 5/5 review.

I’m giving this a 2 star ONLY because I’ve had worse, but here we go. When arriving in the shop it’s full of cultchies and annoying hipsters sipping on their super cool coffees and annoying little ear rings dangling. The ugly stumpy woman behind the counter is really rude and frankly the food ain’t worth all that. I swear they’re using some cheap packet bread not even making it themselves 💀 Don’t come here pls and thanks

Stranwiches suffers from its own success. It’s a place that is extremely popular, but due to the time it takes to create their masterpieces, a long queue often forms of hungry customers. The sandwiches are excellent. The menu diverse but having to stand and wait for upwards of 20-30 minutes is a pain. The owners need to expand and have more seating. If they do that, they’re onto a winner.

Criminally good sandwiches, you should definitely eat here

If you've only got a half hour lunch this is not for you. Time arrived at establishment: 1:03pm Time served: 1:24pm Time food ready: 1:45pm Stran-wiches is somewhere I walk past every day and always seems to be rather busy. Of those I've heard from they have raved about how great the food is and I can honestly say the food was alright. On the other hand nobody had mentioned regarding the LOOONGGG wait to actually receive a meal. I arrived and joined the back of the queue like everyone else, looking at the menu which was completely different than anything I'd seen online (this isn't a bad thing, happy to see some variety). I worked my way through the menu and with the 20 minutes in line my wife knew what she wanted and I certainly had my mind set on one sandwich in particular. Imagine my disappointment after waiting in line all that time only to find out they had ran out of that particular sandwich and failed to take it off the menu. Knowing there was a queue of people behind me I made another choice quickly (pork belly as pictured). I was given a number for my order and patiently waited... And waited.... And waited... My sandwich was from the hot section of the menu, but I didn't expect a 20 minute wait. In fact one of the two sandwiches had been sitting so long it was cold before the other one was ready. All in all, would I go back? Well unless you like a wait in a long line and more waiting for some mediocre and overpriced food, I think I'll pass.

The food was good. The waiting around took 30 minutes and it got cramped due to everyone waiting.

Almost perfect execution, almost... I have to say I was looking forward to this one for a while, so I was in the area and took a run up for lunch. It was raining, but there was still a queue, likely to do with the small front of house, but can imagine on hot days you'd have a fair few queuing outside. There were plenty of options to satisfy most preferences and the menu would appear to be seasonal, as when I first saw it online there were many different combinations than what is currently on offer, which is fantastic. The menu is split into two sections, hot & cold. The cold side contains cold cuts & salad combos like 'Hail Caesar Wrap' and 'Its for My Da' which on the face of it seemed very classical but with a slight twist and clearly made with superior ingredients. The hot side showcasing 'Henry Hero' and 'Propaaa Kofta' which would have fried, grilled or warm ingredients, but would have incurred a bit of a wait, as from what I could see everything was made from scratch. I went for the 'Summer Lover', I didn't have time to wait on a hot sandwich, and I had to travel home, so by then it would likely have been cold. However, I primarily ordered it because it has my favourite sandwich ingredient of all time in it, Pepperoncini Peppers. Service was very pleasant, acknowledged me as I came through the door and the service was very quick, maybe a 4/5 minute wait. The waiting area was very cramped however, it didn't appear that anyone would have realistically been able to enjoy a sandwich in such close confines, and the area would have been much more open without the additional obstructions - but I get it, they're offering people a place to sit, so shouldn't grumble, I just felt like people were on me as I was waiting. I left with this hefty beast in my arms, like a new born baby, and with the same level of care, rushed home to enjoy it. Upon opening it it was beautiful. A wonderfully colourful cross section with generous fillings, evenly distributed. I took my first bite and WOW. They don't make sandwiches like that over here, I almost dislocated my jaw tying to get a decent bite. The bread was soft and the ingredients were all able to shine through, you could taste every element........ except the pepporcini peppers. The reason I ordered the sandwich. There were no pepporcini peppers in my sandwich (or onions). Devastated. The soft bread, combined with the richness of the turkey, avocado and cheese was super satisfying, it was followed by a wonderful burst of fragrance in the form of the basil from the pesto sauce, but without the sharp tanginess of the peppers/onions to cut through that richness it felt unfinished. It just lacked that final push to make it outstanding, and it would have undoubtedly been the best sandwich I'd ever eaten in Belfast had all the ingredients been present. In terms of price, £9.50 is a lot to drop on a sandwich, and it will absolutely do two people, so I'm a bit miffed that a premium quality product didn't come as advertised, but I will go back and give them a second go, the sandwich was fundamentally sound bar the omission and it would be a shame to not see what else was on offer. But man, what could have been. C

The sandwich was very tasty and a good size. By comparison to other options in the city its good value too. Definitely well made and thought out with quality ingredients. The queue and wait were not great but not the fault of anyone. Too little capacity and too much interest. Might not be a great option if you're in a hurry

Pricier side but a Delicious sandwich and worth a visit, lettuce could be washed more thoroughly as it was dirty unfortunately

They forgot the bacon on my club. £9 is expensive and a long wait. Sandwich was dry but I only have myself to blame as I removed the cheese and tomato. Salad was extremely bitter. The chicken cutlet was amazing though. Weirdly had smashed boiled egg in there which I can't remember seeing on the menu.

Says its open and it's not disappointing to say the least I'd promised my 80 yo parents a nice sandwich but not ooen 😬

Incredible sandwiches, made with fresh bread and a menu that changes often. Haven’t stopped thinking about it since I had my first one. Only thing I would change is the wrapping material to prevent them from becoming soggy!

My brother comes to Stran-wiches every week and has been raving about it. I had to try it out and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The shop is in a great location and it serves the sandwiches like you would expect at a deli counter. The staff were super friendly and the branding is solid. I loved the mosaic design at the entrance. The options on the menu were vast and provided me one of the best vegan sandwiches I have ever had. I always enjoy when vegan food doesn't include anything 'fake' but rather, works with already existing ingredients and makes them shine. The deep fried oyster mushrooms are the perfect example of this and we're absolutely amazing with the Thai style sauce. I would say anyone, vegan or not would love this combination. I can't wait to see what other vegan options come onto the menu! I think the price point for the size of sandwich is spot on and the bread options really made for a good level of customisation. Plus I think focaccia being using for sandwiches is just a stroke of genius, it absorbs the sauce and flavour really well whilst not becoming soggy. Overall absolutely class spot, just go try it for yourself 😊

Wanted to see what all the FUSS was about.... Not bad, tasty also and worth a we try ;-) I had the lemon peppered chicken schnitzel, paid extra for a we bit of mango added for good measure so i did so i did lol Will i be back? Most certainly.

This was my first visit to Stran-wiches in Stranmillis and I wasn't disappointed! I chose the Spicy Cuts in a sub roll which was the perfect sandwich for me, right up my street! Choice of sandwich is good and you can have it as a sub roll, wrap, focaccia or salad. I'm looking forward to trying something different next time, possibly the Uncle Paulie! If you are going by car then parking could be an issue although I did get parked within about 100 metres which was ok. I arrived 15 minutes before opening time and there was already a small queue which was a good sign but something you might want to bear in mind. Price wise, they are a bit more expensive than Subway, which I am a fan of, but for me, Stran-wiches is the next level of sandwich and we'll worth the extra. My sandwich was superb and I could really taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. I went out of my way to visit this shop and I am happy to recommend it to anyone and as I have already said I will definitely be back!

The food is actually brilliant, no question. But the woman at the counter was slightly rude and patronising. Now I notice from the replies on here to the low score reviews that this is the norm. Can't imagine the stress of running an establishment like this but attitude is something to reflect on.

Food was amazing, unfortunately they did run out of what I had my eye on before we arrived but I end up getting something turkey and chorizo. It was Amazing!! Honestly haven't stopped thinking about. There was a wait time of about 30 mins but it was a nice day and I was in no rush. I will be back no doubt. I just wish they had more of an area for sitting in.

Holy moley. This place serves hands down the best sarnies on the island of Ireland. The owner was very friendly and helped me pick the oyster mushroom sandwich as I couldn't remember what one had the mushrooms lol. I also ordered the spicy cutlet. Now the cutlet was beautiful but the vegan oyster mushroom one was mind blowing good. It was so good I saw god with every bite. I am in now way a Vegan but my word that almost turned me into one. I can't wait to go back. Keep up the good work guys.

Got a lovely chicken focaccia there today. It was very filling and not too expensive either. Went for a chicken sandwich, but was nicely explained by the staff that they had just run out of bread. Will certainly be back!

This place that I discovered on TikTok did not disappoint! Spoiled for choice on the menu and I could have had all of them, however one was enough! The staff were really friendly and they let me off £1 for my drink. Its a little pricy but there is about a kilo of meat in each half of the sandwich. I would recommend sharing one with a friend! ✌🏻

I heard a lot of good things about the place so took time to travel over from where I live. Unfortunately when I got home the sandwich I got wasn't what I ordered at all, and I couldn't eat it. Unfortunately also no way of contacting the owner so a waste of my lunch hour and £9 spent on something that went in the bin. Will not be back
