Absolutely amazing space and accommodation on site which suited our family needs perfectly. Ivan & team were very friendly & professional from start to finish & nothing was too much trouble for them to do for us. Food and drink was outstanding with generous portions,all served on time for all guests. We had a simply perfect evening wedding party for our daughter and son-in-law. Everything from communication before the event and the helpfulness and attentiveness of the staff on the day was excellent. The food was amazing, perfectly served, perfectly cooked. Everything was completely seamless. The venue was just right for our party, with outside space to mingle and inside dining. Thank you so much!

Some friends of mine hired the Storyteller for their party which i was invited to and although it is a great venue with plenty of space very friendly attentive staff the drinks prices especially for shorts are right up there with bars I have been to in London £14 for a double straight brandy is a bit steep it wasn't even anything special 2 rounds and I'd paid for the bottle basically but I don't want to moan too much we all had a great night.

I've been 3 or 4 times to the Storyteller. It's a nice restaurant with lots of options. Lots of options for wine and good service. Happy to return again I returned again in December 2023 for our work Xmas do. The venue is now only a party venue. We had 65 people for a 3 course meal then karaoke and a disco! The staff were great. A little tight on space due to the number of people and the dancefloor. In the summer it would be better as we could use the outside space. The food was very good and definitely worth trying.

This restaurant is normally only available for events, but it occasionally organises themed evenings, which are very popular. We attended a Christmas meal here and the food was excellent. The staff make us feel welcome and at home. There are 2 large, payable carparks right next to the venue for easy access.

Good place to come for a party! The bar was well stocked and they accommodated all our needs, highly recommended!

Overcrowded, difficult to move between tables to get to the bar or to the toilets. It is a conservatory so uncomfortably hot when the sun shined, no attempt at all by staff to open the roof windows. Entertainment was good but limited by restricted space and affected by heat. Disabled access toilet is inadequate, door not wide enough and no access at all for wheelchairs or any mobility aids. No towels, paper or otherwise, provided to dry hands. It is humiliating and unnecessary to have to request to use the toilet. Please fit a radar key lock to reduce humiliation.

We booked the venue for a 30th birthday party, Ivan was great throughout the booking and planning, even the day after when we needed to collect a few bits we left. Everything was so seamless and professional and all questions were answered within minutes by email or text during the "build up", to the party. There was a very relaxed approach, to using the space. The staff were friendly and service was good from bar staff through to the cleaners. We also stayed in the room overnight which was lovely, and immaculate.

Ivan was so helpful from the first day I visited right up to and through the event. Perfect venue for a 70th birthday lunch party. We had the buffet which was delicious and plenty of it. Clearly labelled to account for numerous allergies. Thank you Ivan and team

I booked The Storyteller for my 30th birthday party and it is the nicest venue! Really affordable, the staff were amazing and we all had the best night. They let us supply our own food and we’re really flexible with letting us decorate - and they cleared everything up afterwards too. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Cannot rate Ivan and the team highly enough. Held an event here at the end of 2022 and sorted it all out from the other side of the world. Time difference wasn’t an issue, very responsive and worked with our chosen staging company seamlessly to get the venue decorated. On the night, service was great and food was amazing.

Well run excellent service and food

BEWARE!!!!!! My wife called this venue to enquire about making a booking for my daughter's 18th birthday. Although she was advised that we could not view the venue until 21 November, she was pressured in to making a booking and paying a deposit on the basis the date required 20 December was during the busy Christmas period and would soon be booked. We paided a deposit on 17 November. Upon veiwing the venue on 21 November, it quickly became apparent that it was nothing like it appeared on the venue's website. It was dark, cold, stank and generally just very scruffy. My daughter was very dissapointed and asked us to cancel the booking. When we did so on 22 November, we were advised that only 50% of the deposit would be refunded. When we queried this we were advised that the venue had already booked a chef. Would they not have another booking on 20 December, their busy Christmas period? When we complained we were sent links to various websites on the legalities of paying a deposit to a hospitality venue. It quickly became obvious that this venue was well versed in tactics designed to fleece people out of the deposits they had paid. They have sinced advised us that because we complained, they will now keep 100% of the deposit we paid. No doubt the deposit con is a nice little side line for them. I was unable to leave this review without giving 1 star, which they do not deserve.

Fantastic venue for small intimate private events.

My daughter and son-in-law booked the Storyteller for their wedding reception of over 50 guests. The food and atmosphere was amazing and the sun shone through the dining area in the lovely conservatory. I would thoroughly recommend this venue. The owner and staff were so welcoming. We had an awesome time.

My daughter hired the room for Her Graduation party after receiving her Doctorate. The room was lovely and set out how she had asked. They let her hire a guitarist so we had dancing. The food was well presented and tasted lovely. A great price for food and drink. The staff could not have been more attentive. What a wonderful evening we had. Thank you.

Had a 40th birthday party here last week. Fabulous venue all the guests loved it. Amazing outside space as well. So nice to have the ability to make it our own and staff so helpful. Highly recommend it.

Really nice place with very nice staff. I was there at a private function and thought it was a very nice place.

This is a very unusual place. Right by a car park, yet tucked away, so quiet and intimate. We went for a wake, which was well catered and organised, with efficient, discreet service. I can see it being very suitable for other group occasions. Not suitable for disabled unfortunately as toilets downstairs.

We've been eating here since it first opened in 1997. It has been the place we've celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries & other milestones. We're so pleased to be able to attend their dining evenings a few times a year and the events we've been to have been superb. The staff are always friendly and Ivan is a gracious host. The food has always been the best we've ever eaten and is crafted with such passion. If you get the chance - try it! They even have rooms!

Works Christmas do, staff were friendly and service was good. Felt the starter and pudding were presented well and tasted good. My main however was steak which was not only a cheap cut full of fat and gristle it was undercooked. Additionally the drinks selection (beer/cider wise) could have been better.

Great party venue for our recent 40th Birthday celebrations. Ivan and the staff were great and the venue is a perfect spot in the centre of town with on site accommodation too. Highly recommended!

I was gutted when you changed direction to focus on venues, as you were always my “occasions” place to eat. However last night you opened back up to the public (think my wife is on your mailing list). last night you food was simply amazing. And every course was spot on. We ordered from a set menu in advance.. I was very pleased with what I ordered but watching the staff bring food to the tables I had food envy. I ordered steak for my main and it was the best steak I have eaten out in Cheltenham, credit to the Chef as it was cooked as ordered (med/rare). On the whole extremely enjoyable night, very polite waiting staff.. Hopefully you will do the same again soon.. Only minor complaint we sat in the conservatory, it got very warm windows were open but it could have done with a breeze or an aircon unit.

Really cozy restaurant - awesome food & drinks and really, really kind & accommodating staff who helped me get out of a pickle with my phone!! ;) - will absolutely be sending people this way and coming back myself when I can!

Not as busy as it used to be, or so it seemed. Food not bad, but not sparkling. Venison starter tasted OK but was as tough as a dog's head. Service friendly but kind of slow. There's a big, adjacent car park. 4 hours will cost you £4.50 at any time of day. You have to type in your entire reg. number first. The drive in from out of town is a bit of a pain in the neck, even with sat nav, because of confusing, specific-time buses and taxis only roads en-route. Still, a nice environment without loud music and with an air of sophistication. Extra information. Adjacent car park NOT recommended. We bought a ticket and left before it expired but got stung by an incomprehensible £60 parking fine. They didn't relent even when we sent them a ticket image and didn't explain why in any clear way. Probably cheaper overall to get a taxi.

Great food. Above avg cost. But still reasonable value. Good range of wine but didn't like the house white!

Nice food and friendly service.

Went there for Christmas staff party on 14/12 15 of us in total. The service was second to none but the food is another matter...... I do understand that turkey could be dry as its hard to keep it moist but you dont expect it to be burnt, Steak that meant to be a medium was in fact burnt. It's definitely bot worth it £30.00. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

We went here for our evening meal. The service was great, the wine was very nice. The steak was cooked just right, the food was lovely. The pudding based cocktails were amazing! Would definite return.

With a menu that has kangaroo and buffalo the food served is certainly not the norm. The starters were very tasty and the mains of buffalo burger especially good with excellent onion relish. We were all too full for pudding. The wines available are very varied and of good quality. Certainly a good place to try.

For our taste the menu here was by far the most tempting of those available on a Sunday evening in Cheltenham. With the promise of spice & chilli and plenty of fresh herbs and vegetables where could we go wrong? Starting with the real positive - the welcome and the service were impeccable. Sadly the restaurant is really tired looking, the chairs uncomfortable, the walls, fixtures and fittings in need of a thorough clean, and it was cold. Thankfully the food arrived piping hot on hot plates - great! But that's where the meal stopped delivering. The squashed pasta had a lovely bite but it was unbelievably greasy and the sauce really sweet. The spicy red lentil cake was so bland we question whether it had been introduced to any seasoning at all, let alone spice. And the edamame beans had been replaced with garden peas. I love peas, but I love edamame beans more and it'd have been good to have been given the heads up. Would still have ordered the dish, but wouldn't have felt quite as cheated. The burrito was generously filled with pulled pork, but was overcooked and charred on the bottom which made it bitter. And the salsa and guacamole again lacked all flavour. Not a hint of chilli, lime or fresh coriander. In fact the salsa looked to us to be chopped tomato. In the right hands this menu could be unbeatable. Such a shame. Some tlc on the tasting front needed.

Nice range of wines especially by the bottle which are competitively priced. Wines by the glass are narrower in range and relatively expensive. Starters are small and over priced. Mains are sizeable and fairly priced. No green tea! Service was fine maybe a little slow.

Food overpriced and not great quality. Pudding good. Tonic was flat but changed when requested. Good alcohol free beer. Nice atmosphere but will not go back and wouldnt rate over a 3:5.

Lunchtime was quiet, but food was very good.

My husband and I went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Because it was a Monday, it was vey quiet. We both had bread and oil nibbles to start and Fajitas for a main course. We both agreed that the food was excellent, very tasty and hot. He had cheesecake for pudding. I tasted it as well, it was ok and if it wasn't for the compote that it was served with, it would have been completely bland, On the whole, though, a very enjoyable evening

Looking for good offers for a Monday night whilst on hols and we came across the storyteller with a burger and free dessert offer.

We went to the storyteller as it seemed as the name suggests to have a theme and unique food. Our food was tasteless and dry and horrible. Staff member actually said he doesn't care when we were complaining. Staff looked scruffy and dirty. One of the worst eating out experiences we have ever had. Not a single good thing to say I'm afraid. Feel like we were robbed and treated disrespectfully.

Following a recommendation I booked Storyteller for my friends hen party. We started with cocktail making we had the bar area to ourselves, Josh the bar man was fantastic giving us some history about the cocktails we were making and explaining each one step by step, all 7 of us had great fun.

Food was amazing, first time I've been beaten by a meal. Location is easy to get to and parking not an issue. Staff are attentive but not over bearing. A nice evening, good food, good drink and good atmosphere. Highly recomend a visit especially for a special occasion or with that special someone.

The wait time was ridiculous for a Wednesday evening. The food was tasty enough. Some items less falvoursome than others. The menu hasn't changed in over a year

great place to get out of the rain

went here for a hen night with 30 of us so was very hectic, the staff were all very friendly and helful but in between it all my meal got mixed up so I ended up with the wrong meal, so ended up ordering bowl of chips to as didn't like the mea I was given, it was on a very very hot day, so was all crammed into quite a small room

Good selection of food. Been a couple of times now and enjoyed the food. Friendly staff. Will be going again for sure.

I have always enjoyed previous visits to this restaurant. On this occasion the service was excellent as usual however I was extremely disappointed with my meal. I had the seafood platter. The cod was overcooked and dry the prawns were very chewy and only one of the mussels were open.

Excellent meal had here there is parking nearby an Ncp car park 2 mins walk. We were seated promptly given menus to look at and after a little our drinks order was taken. Drinks delivered and orders taken a little waiting then the starter arrived Nachos to share a good plateful. Shortly after mains arrived super choice 2 fish 1 chicken and 1 ribs well cooked and good portions. Service was good the access not bad for wheelchairs but toilet eather small but would recommend for a good evening out.

Visited in June with my wife and had a terrific meal. Grilled Halloumi and vegetable Samosa’s were selected as starters and they were both delicious and super fresh. Mains were sizzling vegetable fajitas and the BBQ ribs. The vegetable fajitas were plentiful and tasty and the BBQ were described by my wife as “porky perfection” service was prompt, polite and not overbearing. Extensive drinks menu available, good variety of food in a lovely setting. Visit here for a meal, well worth it.

I've been to the Storyteller several times now and it is always 100% amazing. The staff are friendly, funny and helpful; the food is amazing - huge portions, and the place is lovely. Was a bit worried about the fact it was a greenhouse in the summer but it was so nice and airy. Had a great time. Thank you. Will be back and will recommend.

We had a lovely meal here on Saturday night to kick off some of my 40th birthday celebrations. We were a little late and they did not bat an eyelid, the staff were fab and the service was great. The food was so good and something different and special.

Couples and friends for a long distant meet up.. great choice by our friend. The staff were great from helping us choose drinks to foods on the menu.

Went for an evening meal on a Friday night. Very few people in the restaurant which in turn meant that it was lacking in atmosphere. Food reasonably good but given that two of us had the same dish and my wife had a vegetarian option my experience has a narrow focus. Waiter that served us was attentive and enjoyed a chat about photography.

I've known this place for many years and I love it. This restaurant is something different. The menu is cool and the wine cellar is an exciting addition for us. Friend staff, great decor and yummy food!

I had such a lovely time making cocktails and drinking them, then followed by an amazing three course meal. The restaurant/wine bar was very picturesque and gave of the feeling of a sunny bar abroad. we all had an amazing night and this place played a huge part in that.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something a little different. Both the food and the services are fantastic! Will be back again very soon.

Hen party of 12 on hottest sunday ever it seemed! A great time had by all. Thanks Ivan for looking after us all. We had the bar area to ourselves to enjoy our cocktail making and then dinner. Dinner ! wow ! abs gorg - proper home cooked food - no pingetty ping here! the ribs in particular were recommended and a hit with the team. Our whole experience at The Storyteller could not have been any better. Thank you and continued success - definitely be back to try some more of the menu!

Great service and reasonable prices for lunch.

A group of us went for an early supper and enjoyed our meal. The menu is adventurous with a fusion of dishes inspired by Australia, the southern USA and Mexico. Portions are generous and tasty. We loved the fish : cod, prawns and, wait for it, bacon and the burrito was good if not very spicy

One of our favourite eating places with great food and helpful staff though service was slow even after the Saturday night rush. We'd love to see a more varied range of vegetarian and vegan meal options. Staff were bit unsure what to suggest for non meat eaters in our group apart from burritos which is a bit same ish. We were treated to a little drop of chocolate wine on the house to finish which made a good end to the meal after a mix up with our coffees.
