Storico Pizza&pasta in Ipswich

This independently-owned restaurant is well situated in the centre of town, and was very busy the evening we were there. The décor is cheerful, with a splendid oval ceiling display of flowers depicting "quattro staggione". The pizzas are generously sized (30cm/12”) and equally generously filled. We ordered four different ones: a Napoli (anchovies, capers, olives, fiordilatte), a Margherita Verace (the extras beyond a regular Margherita being baby tomatoes and parmesan), a Capricciosa (ham, mushrooms, artichoke, olives and fiordilatte), and a Bocconcini (mozzarella balls, peppers, fiordilatte, pesto and herbs). The pizza dough was excellent: being cooked in a wood-fired oven makes a significant difference, and in each case there was a generous base of tomato paste with plenty of toppings. An attractive visual touch was that each of the four plates had a different pattern. Good service too: three staff in succession apologised that the final pizza was taking longer to bring to the table than the three that had already been served. Presumably the chef accidentally missed it off the chit. We hadn’t made any fuss, and said it really didn’t matter. Nonetheless, when the bill came, the head waiter said that they would not be charging us for the late pizza. That was unexpected, and very generous, so full marks for excellent customer service. A firm recommendation for a good restaurant serving excellent pizzas.

This place is great. Wood-fired pizza is excellent. Great for a takeaway too. They're so fast I don't even bother phoning ahead. Walk in and your pizza is ready in about 10 mins.

Attentive and friendly staff and the food was delicious!

Quick service. Food tasted good. For coeliacs: gluten free options on the menu but when asked was told it was my responsibility if they give me gluten and that they would cook my pasta in the same water as the gluten pasta despite my serious allergy. Also found it very disappointing that they charge extra for a gluten free base, despite it being a medical need for coeliacs.

Ate an incredible authentic Neapolitan Pizza in a beautiful, cozy location. Service was excellent. Couldn't recommend enough.

Dough was a bit chewy for me but otherwise nice. I wondered what logs they use for the wood fire as they weren’t natural logs so hopefully they don’t have any chemicals in them. Would prefer actual logs

We prebooked a table as we had to be somewhere at a set time. Booking was easy. Greeted with a smile and could choose our table. Our order was taken quickly and the food we ordered was checked with us to make sure we were certain of what we wanted. Our 2 pizzas were amazing and the restaurant is beautiful decorated and the ladies toilet was beautiful! I'd highly recommend a meal here if visiting Ipswich. We'd definitely go back.

Been before and it was great - however, since then, my partner was diagnosed with coeliac. Turned up to our booking to be told they can't serve anything to coeliacs, despite offering gluten free pizza and pasta on the menu, and making no reference to the fact they cannot actually serve people with a gluten allergy. The member of staff we spoke to was extremely rude and had a serious attitude, I've never seen anything like it... Spoke to the manger who was apologetic, and sorted out making some gluten free pasta separately. Shame because the food here is good but the way we were treated was unacceptable.

A really independent vibe with nice atmosphere, I’d highly recommend and will certainly be returning next time I’m in the town.

Lovely, authentic Italian restaurant not far from the town centre. Everything was perfect. The pizzas were excellent and the garlic bread with cheese was divine 😋 The staff were very friendly and nice too.

I had the spicy burrata pizza which was absolutely superb. About as good a pizza as you'll get outside Italy. The pizza wasn't crazy spicy, and the creamy burrata cheese took the edge off the spice anyway. Highly recommended

Service was lovely, to be fair I think we were the first people in there this evening at 5pm but the service was polite and helpful, not invasive or over the top, food sold itself, we have been here before but won't be the last, have already recommended to friends, I live in Felixstowe but would be happy to get a bus/train just to come and eat here 💁🏼‍♀️

Delicious food and a lovely restaurant!

I booked a table for our family on the occasion of my husband's birthday. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and at home. The vibe is lovely and cosy, with great decor and the service was extremely friendly and efficient. We all had pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Beautifully presented and cooked and we ate every scrap. Puds were also yummy. Great atmosphere, wonderful food and fab service. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

We visited Storico on Saturday and were warmly welcomed by a truly charming waiter called Ibrahim (I hope that’s how you spell it). From the moment he opened the door for us, he made us ladies feel special, and that lovely attention continued right through until we left. Most of us are vegetarian, and the chefs were kind enough to create a vegetarian cicchetti-style board just for us, even though it wasn’t on the menu. Please consider adding it – it was absolutely delicious and a real highlight. We then had some of the freshest pasta and pizza any of us had tasted in a long time. I’m not keen on burrata, and the team were more than happy to swap it for mozzarella for me, which I really appreciated. My drink was served in a beautiful glass and the overall atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. At one point, a fellow diner began playing the piano, which was such a lovely surprise. On a previous visit, there was a professional pianist playing, which really added to the experience. I’d love to see that little touch return – it made the evening feel even more special. The value for money at this restaurant is genuinely brilliant. The food, the service, and the atmosphere all came together to create a fantastic night out. A huge thank you to Ibrahim for making our visit so memorable – you’re a real gem.

Excellent catches. I would recommend grabbing some of the salads as well. The Pear and Gorgonzola one seemed very good to us, as did the Burrata and Bressaola. Great treatment received.

Just what Ipswich needs! A fantastic spot for Italian dining. It's got quite a unique menu where you can choose the pasta shape and the sauce which you'd not get in any chain. The food was hot, made fresh and it was lovely and warm inside on a cold, winter day. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this pizza restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Visited around 2pm on a Friday, nice and quiet inside. We ordered a charcoal pizza and a pasta, both delicious and well worth the price. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend for any pizza or pasta fans

Went here with friends for a pre match meal. All five of us had excellent meals. The restaurant was busy but the service was great. Reasonably priced And the toon won !!

Delicious food at a fair price! Great choice of various pasta dishes or pizza. You get to chose the type of pasta or the those of pizza base. The classic pizza is my go to and is the best pizza base I've ever had. Also options for gluten free on pasta and pizza! Been here twice now and will definetly be going more! Staff are friendly and the service is extremely fast once ordered. The potion sizes match the prices, if not more. It's a struggle to eat the whole pizza, even without starter or desert. They are happy to give a takeaway box for any leftovers, so it doesn't go to waste. A fairly small but cozy and decorative restaurant. Would recommend booking tables in advance, as can easily be fully booked. Also a great ariety of drinks, ranging from soft drinks to wines to cocktails. Highly recommended!

We had a reservation for 6pm for a work Christmas meal, a table of 7 of us. Beautiful restaurant, clean and very presentable. The food was nice, ,but the most disappointing part of the entire experience was within seconds of paying, we were hurriedly asked to leave due to another reservation, we watched from outside as a party of 4 were taken to our large table, still leaving 2 empty tables. Considering the size of our final bill, the ending of our evening left a very sour taste.

Excellent friendly service all 4 of us enjoyed our meals and will return.

First time at Storico and honestly it did not disappoint. I had the creamy chicken pesto pasta and it was the best pasta dish I've had. It was so fresh. Loved how you could chose which pasta style you wanted. My husband had pizza and it was also delicious. Can see this restaurant being a firm favourite of ours. Can't wait to return.

Had a wonderful evening here with friends. The food was absolutely fantastic with delicious mussels and garlic bread to start, fresh and gorgeous pasta and genuine pizzas. All of the staff we met were friendly, courteous and just great. So much care taken by our waitress to make sure that I had no dairy in my pasta - without her checking with the chef we’d never have known (only intolerant, not allergy). Fab atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

We had such a lovely experience at Storico for dinner. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we brought along our 1 year old daughter too. It was the first time we had been and it was recommended to us by friends, but can say we will definitely be returning. We were not disappointed, we were greeted by friendly staff and delishious food. And as Italian food lovers we would even go as far as saying it is the best pizza by far in Ipswich. It reminded us of our trip to Rome a few years ago! Everyone was so accommodating to us and our daughter. Who also had the best time too. Definitely recommend this lovely restaurant!

Used Deliveroo for a first ever time and chose pizzas from Storico. Absolutely fabulous pizza with excellent delivery time and arrived nice and hot. Highly recommend and will come to restaurant too.

Having tried to book this restaurant several times and it was busy tonight managed to get a table I have to say it was very nice and well worth a visit Great service and great food

Good is still very good although the prices have gone up a lot since our last visit and the quality has not improved equally, service is a bit poor, we booked a table which didn't show on their list but when we arrived there was no one in the whole restaurant and even the whole time we were there no one entered but they made us fee as if they were doing us a favor by allowing us to use a "spare table" overall decent experience, no atmosphere at all as we were rh only ones in there and the service was very minimal but food was ok. Not sure i'd go again though.

I had heard good things about Storico, but had not been before, so I was taking a bit of a risk when organising dinner for a group of 24 friends. It was great from start to finish. The guys were really friendly and helpful both throughout the booking and on the night. The food was excellent. Very tasty and well-presented pasta and pizza dishes, along with the desserts that some people managed to make space for! Thank you for a lovely evening. I will pass the recommendation on and definitely will be returning.

An absolute diamond in the rough that is Ipswich. Genuinely delicious food - although we both ordered pizzas, food on other tables looked fresh and appetising. I was very impressed to see a restaurant even open on a Tuesday, let alone so busy. It's great to see an independent restaurant doing so well and maintaining such high standards. If you haven't already, go and check them out; it will likely become a regular haunt once you have tried it once.

I’ve had takeaway pizza from here twice and both times it’s been absolutely incredible! Genuinely some of the best pizza I’ve ever had - and I’ve had a lot! Can’t really comment on service or atmosphere as I’ve never eaten in, but the pizzas are out of this world! 10/10

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The ambience is very relaxed and unpretentious, and the service is friendly and attentive to the right degree, an ideal restaurant for a family meal. The food was fresh and superb, with good portions and great value for money, and there is good choice on the menu for vegetarians. The two pizzas we had (1. Mixed Vegetarian Pizza, 2. Pizza Bocconcini) were probably the highlight of our meal - fresh in taste, well fermented and flavoursome dough, and well baked. We would happily return for a meal in the future.

Best pizza I’ve had in a very long time!

Ordered the 10 hour cooked ragu ! Laughable to call this a ragu as was just undercooked chewy mince with some undercooked tomatoes! Not a ragu in any sense of the word and the ravioli was like rubber and had a nasty smell! And the garlic bread tasted like coal as it was so burnt and overcooked! If you served any of this food to an Italian they would throw it back at you! Nothing authentic about this place! And pasta was clearly not homemade as stated! Would never order from here again.

amazing! Took my father in law our for dinner, took a chance on what looked like a delightful restaurant and we were not disappointed! The service was impeccable, the atmosphere cosy and the food was scrumptious. I couldn't;t finish mine but I can assure you that I prolonged my dining experience by having the rest of my pizza for lunch the next day! Absolutely fantastic!

Food and service was excellent. Loved the music. I had creamy chicken and pepper with rigatoni pasta, and it was fantastic. There was plenty of chicken, and the staff happily cooked it without mushrooms for me. The pasta was slightly al dente which is perfect for me. Very filling and tasty meal. I also treated myself pistachio mousse which was fab.

Another amazing meal, didn’t fancy pasta tonight so had a fabulous salad so fresh and salmon cooked to perfection!!!

I've heard good things about Storico and I wasn't disappointed with the food. I really enjoyed my authentic pizza and it was great to be cooked in a wood fired oven, it gives a better taste in my opinion. Even better that they offer a gluten free pizza base option for my allergy partner. The other menu option is pasta. Prices are good. It's a small restaurant, booking ahead advised. My opinion is that the lighting could have been brighter.

This was my first time here, for Mothers day. The meal was absolutely amazing, service was amazing too, they kept a eye on you ylto make sure that you have everything you want. Take a doggy bag home to as too much for mum on portion size, good too no food waste.

This place is my go to. My favourite dining pizza place, all the food is fresh and have the most amazing flavours, freshly squeezed orange juice for freshness. Would highly recommend in every way.

Very nice Italian restaurant I've been wanting to try for a while. Popped in on the off chance they for a Charlie no chums table for one before the evening football kick off (I was quite early -5.30pm - and think booking is essential if you are dining from 6 onwards). The welcome was very friendly and the food was delicious. Reasonably priced too. Will defo go back with my family. My 4 stars on the atmosphere is simply a reflection of the time and not many people eating yet. It was lovely and chilled and I'm sure it would be equally nice when full of people.
