Supposedly a dog friendly cafe, it's a shame that doesn't apply to the staff, the woman in the cafe collecting the dirty trays is definitely not dog friendly or people friendly come to that she was very rude and in this day of being aware of mental health does not put it into practice at all, my daughter was going to sit with her dogs in the" correct area", however there were no CLEAN tables so she positioned herself and the dogs on their cover with their water bowl just outside the area while I got a coffee, however she was abruptly informed she couldn't sit there and the assistant pulled up the cover while the dogs were still sat on it and took it over to the dog area and put it on the floor and then cleared a table, totally unacceptable action against someone who suffers with anxiety, the prices of the food were ridiculous, £10 for a hot turkey sandwich!, so I settled for a Decaf cappuccino for myself but I think the assistant forgot to add the coffee because it tasted like a mug of hot milk and also a regular cappuccino for my daughter, however when I got to my daughter, eventually, both her and the dogs were so stressed because of the rudeness of the staff that we left the coffees and the items we had put into our trolley and left. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Have been visiting the cafe for years and mostly had a good experience. However, today we were told that our little dog is not allowed on a chair even though she's always on a cover and we carry a spray to use when we leave. I have to say this cafe restaurant is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. They tolerate dogs on the floor and that's all. The way we were told was really quite rude. Sorry to say but we can't visit again with our dog.

Long queues, poor signage and stale customer service. Poor signage around the canteen area which fail to display prices clearly. Half of the food offerings where unavailable. Staff were unhelpful in providing alternative suggestions. Slow queues to get beverages with cold service from staff. 3 portions of chips, two festive rolls and a Blt with three lattes £46… Overpriced, low quality and long wait. There are much better offerings for garden centres bistros with superior meals in the local area. Highly recommend strikes in stokesly.

went for sunday lunch with my son and daughter in law, took some time to eventually get to the cash till, it then took half an hour to receive our meaals, i would describe the quality of that equal to the ready made frozen meals you would get from a supermarket although the beef was ok. the quantity was also not great, the staff were very busy and hard working and i do not apportion any blame to them, the atmosphere was siilar to a motorway cafe , not good value for money and wont be returning.

Let’s begin, before we even experienced the tasteless coffee we were met with a barrier stopping us from getting in when it was only 2pm! Tasteless coffee, hot enough (when asked) but extremely tasteless, couldn’t even taste the cinnamon that was thrown over the top with the heaviest hand since Mike Tyson. Scone was claggy and settled like a boulder at the bottom of a river. That’s it. Nothing more to say other than disappointing, noisy and mayhem. Bring back Peter Barrett’s and their staff!! Oo almost forgot, the clock displayed the incorrect time so we rushed our tasteless coffee and claggy scone as we thought were late!

I went today 18/01/22 with my sister to visit the cafe the first obstacle was the disable parking spaces. I counted 8 in total and as we are both disabled we could not get a parking space, surely a car park that large could provide more disabled parking places. The staff in the cafe were lovely but I ordered a cheese scone and it was disgusting, left most of it, the cappuccino was lovely but it was only half a cup. Will not be returning, much better places around to have a coffee and scone and cheaper.

Went to Debbie’s today for two reasons, firstly to look at the Christmas display and secondly to get some bits a pieces from the aquatics centre. The Christmas display is absolutely rubbish and not a patch on when this business was Peter Barrett’s. There are no more mechanical Polar Bears, Penguins etc just a few rows of cheap looking Christmas decorations that are well over priced. Moving on to the Aquatics Centre, Very poor aquarium care. The majority of the tanks had Algae all over them and one of the larger tanks was so cloudy that it was hard to see the fish inside. On other tanks the internal filters were filthy. I would not recommend buying fish from here as some of the fish did not look healthy at all. Overall conclusion, don’t bother visiting Dobbies Stockton as it has gone down hill dramatically from when it was Peter Barretts and is way over priced.

Had coffee here today. As we are members of the Garden Centre Club plus, we are entitled to 2 free coffees each month. We used the QR facility and sanitised our hands. We made our way to the tea and coffee stand, there is always a back log here, as it takes a while to make each coffee. I decided to find a table out of the way, in a quiet corner, due to still having some personal COVID-19 issues.

This garden centre is now owned by Dobbies. We had our usual free coffee for being gardening club plus member, then decided to stay for lunch. We sat tucked away from other diner, being mindful of COVID 19 restrictions. The lunches were very good. We had lamb moussaka and lasagne, both with chips and garlic bread. Neither of us managed the whole meal, which was very tasty. The cafe was quite busy with people having coffee and cake or meals. The garden centre now resembles a department store with the large array of kitchen implements and other items, not connected to gardening, for sale.

We visited the cafe earlier this week for lunch. When we arrived there was no member of staff at the entrance controlling the flow of people in and out and absolutely no social distancing in the queue waiting for food. The tray on the top of the stack at the entrance was not clean. We were advised by a member of staff who eventually came over to find a table before we bought our food before placing a barrier at the entrance. Needless to say we left there and then. Pre covid we were regular customers but regret that this experience has put us off returning.

Really unimpressed with Dobbies garden centre restaurant this afternoon. Stupidly overpriced (£1.95 for a can of coke) and every empty table in the conservatory where the soft play is needed clearing. It looked like it had been that way for some time as there was multiple plates and trays piled up on a few of the tables. I remember this cafe used to have a place where you could put your tray back onto a trolley meaning they didn’t pile up on tables.

Visited Dobbies for the first time on Saturday. After seeking advice regarding the plants we needed we were shown to an area that displayed these. All around the pallet of plants was red sale tape and a sign saying 25% off. The assistant pointed this offer out to us do we decided to make a purchase. He also told us if we joined the garden club we would receive another 20% off. Having looked at my receipt a day later I saw that only the 20% had been deducted for joining the garden club. So I was overcharged by £16 this is an absolute disgrace. How many people wouldn’t notice especially older customers. Iv sent a complaint to Dobbies who have acknowledged my email but I still have not had a response and they still have my £16. Dobbies have taken over since our last visit and are now in forcing a £2 charge per child to use the soft play in the cafe. Staff were harassing children to take them to there parents for payment. When you are paying well over the odds on food and drink, allowing kids to play for free is the least I would expect. When we looked round for a table, we were shocked to see the amount of uncleared and dirty tables. We had to clean a table for ourselves, which we thought was unacceptable. (If I had added a hot drink as well, I estimate a further 15 minutes.)The people on the tills didn't know the tills. The clearer uppers were just ambling around. I sat on an uncleared table where clearly customers had stacked further stuff from OTHER uncleared tables. In total - 45 minutes to get a toastie at a cost of £6.20. Twice in the last 6 months I have visited the garden centre to have lunch and allow my daughter some time to play in the play area. On both occasions, the play area has been closed for a deep clean. This is extremely annoying because this information is not communicated to you unless you walk through the restaurant and into the soft play. I realise people may say just go and look before you order but I don’t think it’s an ideal situation to have to find out when you’re there. It isn’t really a place to nip in on the off chance. The staff said that it closes if a child has a toilet incident- which is fine- but the fact that there were signs made specifically stating that it was going to be closed suggests that this wasn’t the case. Surely deep cleaning should be done out of customer use times? Also, It could be communicated over Facebook as you can’t ring the centre because it’s a premium rate line and costs a fortune. It cost my wife 8 pounds to change a restaurant booking last year. I think, if the play area is closed, then the sign should be up at the start of the restaurant area so you don’t have to find out once you’ve ordered food. The staff who I spoke to were nice enough but clearly didn’t have any authority to do anything. Big shame as we like the place.

I am a regular at Stockton Garden Centre, visiting with my husband, daughter, mother in law, and mum regularly particularly the restaurant. We normally go for breakfast or lunch and then browse or buy something from the garden centre gift shop, plants or the Christmas baubles at Christmas time. Today I am annoyed, I went with my daughter for an early lunch and we had a lovely time and food was nice. We browsed around as I had a voucher (as a points card holder you get vouchers, money off etc). I was aware of being watched and followed by 2 members of staff for what seemed like ages. Eventually a young girl, not even subtly stood near me watching me. I felt uncomfortable and said to her ' why are you so close, do you think I'm stealing?' She just laughed. I was also followed on the previous visit and said I won't visit again, well this time I won't. They have lost my custom completely now. I'm aware they need to look out for shoplifters but to be followed so blatantly is off putting. I should have complained then, I nearly did but just wanted to leave. I won't visit again. I've been here with my grandchildren two or three times to make use of the soft play area. I can't really comment on the food and drink, but the last time we went (it was half term) it was busy. We got seats in the smaller section by the play area although there were no empty tables because staff did not clear them. During the hour or so we were there more and more crockery and leftover food was getting piled up around the place. The younger kids who didn't know better kept having to be stopped from helping themselves. The play area itself is stated as being for children up to 8 years. This was far too wide an age range. Parents were supposed to be supervising, but many just seemed to put their older kids in there to fulfil that role. This left younger 1 to 3 year old children at risk from larger unruly heavier kids and it was way too crowded. When we left we noticed many many uncleared tables in the main eating area too. We had assumed they were just ignoring us. It's a generally good facility and obviously popular but more effort needs to he put in to keeping it hygienic and safe.

called with friends and ordered coffees , and bacon and egg sandwiches, and a scone, the coffee was very good, however the sandwiches turned up oh my god i have never seen bacon so under cooked it appeared to have not hit the pan, and the fat was left on the bacon in fact i would go far as to say it was raw, normally i would have complained but we where in a rush, the egg was the only good thing about the sandwich, i think some kitchen training needs administering and quickly.

My husband and decided to have the over 60 meal deal which was main course dessert and tea/coffee. We opted for fish and chips which were delicious. The restaurant was very busy, however we were not kept waiting. Staff were working at full speed with tables cleared and cleaned very quickly. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional stopping to have a brief chat with the customers. Certainly value for money and we will be visiting again. We also stocked up with winter plants and the Christmas areas although not quite finished were really something to see.

We had afternoon tea before as a groupon deal and it was very nice for the price. We booked to come again, not a groupon offer this time. Unfortunately there was less than we had before and not as nice either!

Over priced, cold food. As a group of 3 you would expect to receive your food together, jacket potato & soup given as you queue & toastie etc 40 mins later ! By the time you get through to the till everything is cold. Miserable experience.

Arrived around lunch time to buy plants etc so decided to have a snack as I had a coupon for a free hot drink. So for a sandwich which was very tasty full of filling and fresh garnish and a can of coke came to £6 that is pricey £2 for a small can is extortion will remember free water next time. Staff need training in customer service and manners.

Visited quite a few times over the last 12 months and have found the restaurant good as a rule. The food is usually pretty decent and the restaurant is generally clean - which bearing in mind how busy it gets at weekends must be a real battle. On the whole, the staff have always treated us well. Price-wise, you get what you pay for! Whilst not the cheapest, the quality is usually good. The price side of things does work out well if you join the Wyevale customer loyalty scheme, and are able to make use of the discount vouchers that they issue from time to time. In terms of children, there is a soft play area to keep the smaller ones occupied and as the menu offer is so wide ranging there is also plenty of choice for them. Although we do generally use the restaurant whenever we are visiting the Garden Centre, we don't tend to make special trips just to eat there.

We attended for breakfast. Indifferent staff and in some cases rude, poor cold tasteless food and not even good value for money. Obviously depending on the customers visiting the garden centre itself, although that's equally badly run.

Went to the café whilst in the garden centre. There was loads of choice. We ordered quiche and chips and sausage roll and chips, 2 cups of tea. Was quite expensive for what we got but it was tasty.

I visited with three friends on a weekday around lunch time. I opted to have a cheese scone, carrot cake and a bottle of Pepsi. This set me back £6.80, which I thought was a little on the expensive side. The food was okay, I found both the scone and cake to be quite dry. There were plenty of tables so it wasn't difficult to find somewhere to sit. The staff were friendly and were constantly cleaning the tables around us, which was good as there seemed to be a constant queue for food.If I was already in the garden centre I'd go back again, but I wouldn't make a special trip out to eat here.

Came to the garden centre to get garden stuff as you do, we called into the restaurant for coffee and cake which was very nice. The restaurant has a good range of food for adults and kids meal boxes. We usually call in as they do have deals on sometimes.

Just needed some where to eat with the dog. Food was lovely and the staff were very nice and helpful. Sat outside with the dog (in the rain) and ate a lovely curry. Could do with some better cover for the outdoor area.

Popped here for a spontaneous breakfast and we arrived in a small que to be shocked with the attitude of the staff. The elderly couple in front were being rude too and then it came to us. It was 11.25am and breakfast stopped at 11.30. We arrived here 5 minutes before the allocated breakfast finish time and they was noone behind us. I witnessed there was still breakfast items in the hot held department and plenty too! Why they could not be happy to serve the last 2 couples for breakfast i do not know. Not one member of staff had a smile on their face nor made us feel welcome. (Seeing as I work in a similar full on customer environment myself I know this is very important)Attitude stinks. Will not be coming again.

The photo shows what should be a plate of macaroni cheese. The menu stated macaroni cheese with salad and garlic bread. Well they had no garlic bread but the chef could do some if I waited 10 minutes. I said just give me some bread. They gave me one slice of bread!! Then you go for coffee and no one is there - plenty of staff at the tills though ready to take my money though!! Then charged me over £9 for this slop and a very small coffee. In my view the manager here should not have a job.

10 minute wait for food turned out to be 25 minutes. Paid £25 for a breakfast and 3 lots of over-cooked eggs on toast and drinks. Tables were all filthy, not enough staff to clear them. Massively overpriced for the quality of food provided. Oh and having to pay extra for the kids to play in a tiny soft play area (even if proceeds do apparently go to charity) is taking the proverbial.

Been to Wyvale today to see the Christmas decorations and have lunch. My friend and I had an over 60 s main meal and hot pudding and tea for only £8.00.each. I had fish ,chips and peas and my friend had shepherd's pie followed by bakewell pudding and custard. Excellent value and good food. The Christmas decorations were brilliant with moving polar bears and a singing owl and the toddlers who were there were mesmerised.Well worth a visit Menus on the wall are a bit confusing. It would be easier to choose if they were at the start of the counter. eg can't see what soup of the day is until you are next to the soup cauldron. Just a minor point.

Took my sister for an afternoon tea as a birthday treat. She enjoyed her tea but I was very disappointed with my gluten free afternoon tea. The crusts were left on the sandwiches, a small boxed chocolate fruit cake and a flapjack still in the wrapper. What a poor presentation and selection.I think this is the worst afternoon tea I've had.To be fair, the staff were very friendly even though they were rushed off their feet.

Took 2 of my grandchildren to see the Christmas display. They absolutely loved it. A talking tree, a talking owl, reindeer, Santa, 3D glasses which turned the Christmas tree lights into snowflakes. Loads of Christmas stuff to see.We had drinks in the cafe afterwards and the children played in the soft play area for a while. A must see display for children this Christmas season.

when its not too busy its great, but they can not cope when its busyWent Saturday 22 Oct, looked like a bomb had hit it, they were very busy, I would have been more than happy to clean our table from the previous occupants but they have no facilities for you to do this, I am always happy to do this rather than sit at a table full of someones mess, after 15 mins the table was cleared by a lady who looked like she had a day from hell. After the shock of them wanting £2 for a small bottle of diet coke, we ordered fish chips and baked spud and beans. At the till I did comment about the coke, the lady reminded me they had free ice water, so I had that instead. The food was hot, fish was very nice as were the chips and peas, my spud was also nicely cooked with nice beans (but not Heinz). The crowd thinned out and the staff were able to recover the room,This was not my best visit but it will not put me off, they need to put out a try collector trolley during busy periods i would be happy to clear tables near me so I am not surrounded by other peoples mess, it stresses me out and I can not eat

We visited the cafe on Sunday 16th October, the service was a disgrace, there were mo lids to put over your hot dinner while you waited in a very long queue for your drinks, also no plates for the scones except very hot dinner plates! my daughters Sunday dinner was getting cold while we waited to be served with drinks and trying to find a seat at a clean table was a nearly impossible task, a very bad experience and very poor quality service.
