Love this restaurant, always left five star reviews. Won’t be going again, ordered fish and chips and a scone via Just Eat. Driver shown outside but just drove past and ticked delivered. When I rung the restaurant, “not our problem take it up with just eat”. Well you have now lost a loyal customer that won’t be setting foot in your place again.

Welcoming friendly and helpful staff, the fish and chips were hot and absolutely delicious , freshly cooked. Very clean and very reasonable priced. Well def return soon. Thank you so much

Our go-to for local fish and chips, you can be waiting for a while because it’s cooked fresh, would be nice for some kind of bench/seating near the counter while waiting, staff always friendly and food always consistent

A bit late but nevertheless. I bought 2X special and chips (scraps aswell) yesterday evening. Lovely succulent Fish and chips cooked well. I've purchased Fish & chips over the years, and would always rate them very high. Portions are very generous indeed!! *4.5/5 😊😊😊

Small order of only chips and gravy, Simply asked if I would like salt and vinegar, to which I replied kindly I will let you know when it’s ready, the lady made me repeat myself three times, to which she then snapped at me. Saying I was only asking, to which I replied I am on the phone trying to find out hence I said I will let you know and serve someone else. Food is now ready I asked politely for salt vinegar to the lady straight up refused to salt and vinegar and told me do it myself on the restaurant tables. Food cannot complain. service absolutely shocking, poor hospitality service and overall off-putting to say the least.

Cute little shop but the fish and chips were perfect!

Lovely good but kind of let down by the lack of actual cutlery, wooden knives and forks are horrible to eat with. I understand the reasoning behind them but not pleasant to eat with at all.

My wife and I made a rare visit to Keighley last week and we called here for a fish each for lunch,the fish was a good size with lovely crisp batter, one of the best ever.

Uses vegetable oil, which is great. Huge portions, decent priced, short queue, and really really tasty fish and chips. The large carpark is a nice touch too.

We ordered scone and chips with gravy and a scallop butty to takeaway it was Absolutely disgusting the scallops where all batter and burnt and full of grease so made the teacake greasy the scone was burnt and hard to cut through also had a very funny taste and the chips where pale soggy and greasy the only thing worth eating was the gravy shame it was spoilt by the food. all the scallop butty was thrown away once first bite was taken and half of the scone and chips won’t be going again especially at the prices they charge

On my first visit I asked if the chips were gluten free. The young girl said they couldn’t ensure they were, but on asking the other member of staff she said she could wash the utensils and he said the vinegar was gluten free. I went for a few visits and sat in after that, and took some home. All was fine, but as I’m coeliac I still mentioned it every time. On my last visit it was odd as with different staff I was told none of the food could be gluten free, the chips had always been cooked with the sausages in batter and the vinegar wasn’t gluten free either! It was like being in a science fiction film where no one knew what you were on about! Can someone clarify the answer for me? I’m wondering if the last assistant was confusing me with a vegan customer as it all got very muddled! I liked the chips and all of the reviews say gf, so has something changed as everyone seems to think it’s never catered for coeliacs?

Food is very good, but the customer service is terrible. Yesterday I ordered steamed fish as I am gluten free, and when this order was relayed to a member of the serving staff she swore very loudly so that I heard her. "You must be ******* joking!" She was stood at the counter when she said it, so clearly wanted me to hear. I think this is an appalling way to treat people and I won't be returning. I am a local person and will not be recommending this fish and chip shop to anyone.

First visit for a few months for takeaway fish and chips. Chips were perfect and the fish was big with crisp batter and moist white flesh. Price was £7:90 a bit dearer than most in the area but still good value for the size of the fish and the quantity of chips.

Customer service more battered than the fish. Peas looked like watered down snot. As a franchise, I would expect this branch to provide the same food as the flagship branch in Bradford, as all other branches do. When questioned, I was advised this branch is nothing to do with the other Mother Hubbard's, and that they don't need to follow their rules. Also, the lady with the glasses who served us behaved like she'd been slapped by a wet fish. If you don't want to work, then don't Wouldn't visit again. -5 stars.

We had a lunch deal for two this Sunday , I cannot praise this restaurant enough. Starting with the service… efficient, friendly, polite staff. The portion size was more than generous. The fish was fresh, flaky and batter was very light and crispy. Just the right amount of chips. We were pleasantly surprised when we were also offered a full menu of homemade desserts we were really full but took away some sticky toddy pudding home. It was amazing. We were not disappointed, light and indulgent, with little bits of dates in it! Such a pleasant meal which lifted up our Sunday. It just proves that a restaurant can be far from posh and expensive yet still be perfect in every way. Thank you so much to the owners and stuff who really care! We decided to come more often to support our local business. Because it is definitely worth supporting. Thank you for a nice meal.

Not the best food or service fish was ok . Portion was on smaller side.Chips had been mix with older batch of chips I wast expecting that for £7.95

Gone a bit downhill. I'm not sure if it has changed ownership or not. The place was a bit dirty, the wall next to our table was filthy, and it needed a good wash down. Special and chips, fish a bit small and thin, given far too many chips, obviously trying to compensate for cutting down on the fish. I'm not sure if it was haddock or not as it didn't seem like haddock, tasted more like cod or something else. Also, it is now overpriced, around £62 for 4 special and chips, 2 peas, 2 curry sauces, 3 teas, and 1 coffee served in mugs with no hot water or tea pot. Can go to murgatroyds, and the around that much could have had a starter included plus hot drinks served in pots, etc, and would have been alpt nicer. Won't be returning under its current form.

My favourite fish and chip restaurant, as sadly gone down a bit. Menu cut, tables cut obviously the present climate hasn’t helped but thankfully portion sizes are still big. Although as in a lot of fish and chip restaurants too many chips are served. I know loads of people complain they can count them In some restaurants but to me that’s enough. So if you just want Fish and Chips, Scampi or fish bites then please visit, we don’t want another restaurant disappearing from our town.

Really nice fish and chip shop. But F&S is starting to become a luxury item.

The food is great and always comes really quickly. The staff are also super friendly. There were quite a few flies in the dining area which isn't ideal but can't really be helped, I know it's a problem everywhere at the moment The only big issue I had is that the table cloths were wrinkly, like they hadn't been ironed or even folded properly in a while.

I ordered fish and chips, the quality was superb, freshly cooked and piping hot ☺️ the service was quick, staff very friendly. The only thing that let it down was the fact the table clothes needed a good iron.

Bag Scam. Yesterday I ordered fish, chips, curry sauce and a teacake and asked to pay £10.50. Whilst waiting I worked out it should be £10.40. I asked the server what the cost was made up of and she repeated my order but I could see the receipt she was holding with a 10p bag charge on it. I didn't ask for a bag as I always take one with me, wasn't asked if I want one and wasn't told about it when I questioned the amount. The bags do look good quality paper ones but they should be open when charging for them. A side note, I could have got fish, chips, curry and teacake as a meal deal for £6.50 from Stockbridge Fisheries but it was late and they had ran out of fish.

Gotta say I was impressed! Just passing thru town and saw this place and dined in. Fish and chips weren't swimming in oil which is a good sign and tasty, served quick and piping hot with no waiting to be served. Pretty dame good!

We were at East Riddleston today and stopped here for our dinner. it was clean, with good food and the staff couldn't do enough for you. We will definitely be returning.

Unfriendly staff, smaller portions and watch out for the 10p plastic bags. They used to be friendly and have paper bags with wooden forks. We won't be back

Had got into a habit of regular lunch trip , but last few times the place is freezing and the food goes cold quickly .today they complained because I shut the door , to eat my food ! Not doing it anymore as the portions...

Called in to day for lunch, the fish was just like a large fish finger and very greasy, scallops were a bit on the thin side and also very greasy

Avoid avoid avoid The worst chippy ever. Over cooked and burnt fish n chips and tiny portions of Both fish and chips. They close at 9pm and don’t cook any fresh food so serve whatever’s left over which is poor and still charge premium prices. Travel further snd pay more rather than go here. This was my first and last time I go there.

When this first opened up as Mother Hubbard’s fish and chips the portion sizes were excellent and but since last year since COVID the fish portions have reduced considerably in size probably half and this not an exaggeration see the past reviews on tripadvisor and google which have pictures posted of the fish and chips and you can compare for yourself to how the big fish used to be and what it’s like now. I mean if these are natural fish size portions as they claim they are then I have never size such thin haddock fish in my life. The fish looks like it’s been sliced in half and sold as 2 portions as it’s very very thin in width .so until they stop fiddling the public I will not be eating from here.

Just had fish and chips and .... wow. Top marks all round both to the staff for service and politeness, value for money, quality of food and portion size. This place has it all well done. Been a long time since we had such a pleasant experience with fish and chips. Big pat on the back

Avoided this place for about 10 months due to it going downhill & having soggy food and very strong smelling fish. Thought we’d give it another go today! Big mistake. Got it home, only a few minutes drive and opened the polystyrene container to find half a portion of soggy luke warm chips. The food was worse than what it was 10 months ago. There are 2 much better fish shops within a minutes drive of this one that give you massive portions and food is always red hot and also served in paper and not polystyrene, but just a shame they don’t open on a Sunday. Will definitely be avoiding this one again
