Stir Restaurant - Maldron Hotel in Antrim

When we first arrived we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table without delay. Having looked at the menu and chosen our meal, as if by magic another member of staff appeared and took our order. The food arrived promptly and we all enjoyed what we had chosen. In summary, the restaurant is a very pleasant place to eat, but I would like a little more custard with the apple pie.

Stay quite often in Maldron at the Belfast International Airport. Restaurant excellent.Reasonable price for a hotel. Staff friendly and efficient. Loved our visit to the Maldron when we have an early flight!

Best Burger ever!!! The Titanic burger lived up to its name. It was presented well, plenty for a hearty appetitive and was so tasty. Really hit the spot and would happily eat here again when travelling. Service was also very good.

This review comes after a second stay, the hotel in itself is not a bad hotel (its awful, you have to wash your hands in a different bathroom after a pee), The staff are polite and check in was speedy, however the services are effing terrible. I arrived on a Sunday evening at 10:30pm, expecting, that after a full day travelling we would be able to get a bite to eat and perhaps a drink at the bar. Upon check-in, I did notice the bar area was quiet, no big deal it was a Sunday evening after all. While the staff checking us in were polite, they were a bit obscure with the information when it came to food and drink. Before we went to our room, we asked if we could have a drink? The receptionist advised that the bar closed at 11pm, we were there at 10:45pm but ‘we might get one’ if the bar person was still there, there was no one at the bar, so we didn’t ‘get one’. After enquiry, we were told she had left already. So no night cap after a long flight. Fine. So we went back to the room dry and hungry. It is now 11:30pm, we’re hungry, so we scanned the VR code promising 24hr room service, however we couldn’t order, the App, wouldn’t work. Then we tried some food delivery Apps. No luck. Another trip to reception, they had no food, not a sandwich. Absolutely nothing. Nada. We were advised again that they didn’t serve food and no one would deliver food to the hotel. Amazing!!! This hotel doesn’t do food??? The hotel services are appalling; no food, no drink and no deliveries. I get that it is an airport hotel, but why would they advertise 24hr room service, food etc on their website (they may blame staff shortages and covid, but this was not mentioned by staff, nor was it on the website). It was the worst hotel experience we ever had and we went to bed hungry. Oh, you could buy some crisps and chocolate from the vending machine, a cheap bottle of water was £2.70 and a kitkat cost £1.60 - over 3 times the rrp. If you think you’re coming to this place for a meal and a drink before your trip away or coming home after a long flight; avoid. Absolute disaster and disappointment. We will never stay here again. And to fellow travellers, spend your money a few miles down the road, you’ll have a far better experience for the price of a taxi to the airport. And you might get something to eat and drink too.

Decent menu with a good selection and which reasonable price, Service was not ok, but it was overall a good dinner

We stayed on two occasions at the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport and we have to say what a very pleasant stay we had all due to two staff who went above and beyond the call of duty. They were Bernadette Mc Gee who was so kind and courteous when she served us our meal what a lovely lady she couldn't be more helpful and we went to our room with a smile on our fact with the lovely interaction we had with her. The Maldron Hotel is so lucky to have such a wonderful staff member who would certainly encourage you to stay in The Maldron at Dublin Airport. We would give her a gold star for sure. The other person was Jackie at the reception who was also so pleasant and as we approached the desk for checking in she recognised us from the previous time we stayed there, she also checked us in for our flight to Miami, even though she was very busy she gave us her full attention. Another absolute lady. The Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport is in safe hands with staff like Bernadette Mc Gee and Jackie we will be staying there again on our return we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Just your everyday overpriced airport fare. Certainly nothing to write home about but oh, we were at home still and heading for Rhodes. Items of food were barely luke warm with the burger not even cooked as requested.

I think this hotel has been open about a year, one of a few British hotels now and amongst a few others in Northern Ireland such as at the airport, from this expanding international hotel chain with an Irish parent head group. I had read they had planned to extend further here in The UK and into continental Europe, which is interesting. I'd stayed in a Maldron in The Republic of Ireland, Tallaght, before, and thought it was managed well but staff were a bit surly and detached.

I had a 2 hour wait between my flight from Manchester and being picked up by family at Belfast international. So I decided to eat at the hotel restaraunt,I had the fish and chips. At first I wasn't sure why it was so exspensive, but when it came it was huge and I couldn't eat it all as it filled me up, the service j received is the reason that on my way back to Manchester I decided to stay at the hotel. And once again I ordered food before I wanted to turn in for the night. Excellent again, and the service was amazing . 10/10 service 9/10 for food 7/10 for pricing

Had drinks and a meal for two ,the G&Ts were ok ish ,my chicken was dry and the sides average ,my wifes bacon lion plus colcannon was ok two glass of wine ,was our limit the prices didn't reflect much other than hotel food.Then a 1litre of still water at the bar to take to the room £4.20 loads, we couldn't believe it. So breakfast was the same standard hotel fare, fry ok can get eggs each to order, but that's it continental no worth a mention @ £12 each ,we wont be rushing back,sorry value wasn't in it really.

Ate here while staying in the hotel and the burgers were fantastic. Service was good and friendly. Not too expensive either!

This hotel food is outstanding and I cannot praise the Chef high enough, highly recommend the pan fried Chicken with veg and Champ.

Voyage en groupe touristique avec un arrêt dans l'hôtel. Le diner composé de plats irlandais est délicieux et bien préparés. Il y en a pour tous les goûts. Rien à redire sur le personnel accueillant et professionnel.

Very convenient ,parking great ,great staff and menu fine ..as we know Aiport hotels very busy and hit or miss . Happy to stay there

We were staying at the Maldron and arrived tired and hungry so decided to eat at the Grain and Grill. We were surprised at just how good it was, the food was beautifully cooked and presented and delicious. Our first experience was so good that we planned to eat there on our return journey and were not disappointed. The selection of dishes was wide and reflected the best of Irish cooking. A real treat. Thank you.

I had a bit of time to kill and wanted to pick up a snack and something to drink whilst charging my phone. The service was polite and the food was quite nice but nothing special.

Had a 6hr wait at the airport and as easyjet were their normal supportive and happy selves I couldn’t fly earlier or even enter the departure area.

A colleague and I stayed here. Service was good, but both of us found food salty and in her case very dry. Coffee was very average also

We had a wonderful experience from Amanda making the booking to the receptionist Tiarnach wishing my hubby a happy birthday because when I booked I said it was for his birthday - We were shown to our seat with all menus including the most important one the wine menu - Told the days specials and then offered a jus of ice cold water before we made our decisions - Samantha & Ellie were extremely attentive and we couldn't ask for better - The meal was absolutely beautiful and believe me when I say the hubby can be extremely fussy its an understatement - he usually has to send something back but not here it was done to perfection - Congratulations to an all round first class service - We will be back

1 gin and stale tonic 1 glass of wine £14.50. Lough Neagh Airport just dreadful. I need to say more. What can I say other than it is like somewhere from the 1970's in the former Soviet Union.. Is that enough now?

I arrived early at the airport and decided to have a coffee and some food in the Maldron. What friendly waiters and waitresses all so helpful and wanting to make you feel welcome. Thank you.

We had a nice dinner after a long day of travel. We were relieved not to have to travel further, and were warmly greeted by the friendly and upbeat staff. The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone, the soup of the day was absolutely delicious and was like a massage at the end of the long day. Great burger and grilled salmon Caesar salad. Adequate wine list and many beers including local options.

The restauraunt provides a full irish breakfast for an additional $10.00 which is so worth it. A very lovely breakfast including many cereals, many different breads, beverages, eggs, meat of your choice including bacon and sausage. A waffle maker and a very nice array of fruit and yogurts of your choice. Very nice and professional staff !!!

We had the 2 course dinner special which was excellent value at £18.00. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive.

Had the pleasure of staying in this hotel for a couple of nights with work recently, and ate in the restaurant on the second night.The food is simply superb, excellent quality and good value too. The service staff were exemplary too.Highly recommended.

i stay at maldron most times im travelling from belfast broad it gives me a nice start to my travels the resturant is very good and hotel staff very helpful in every way ive stayed here many times, the breakfast is good too . lots to choose from .

Stayed here a number of times recently and ate in the restaurant each night.Your Chef Mark goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your food.At breakfast Nieve your waitress makes sure you enjoy your breakfast.Look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We stayed three nights B&B and ate in two nights because that part of the Ulster countryside is a culinary desert, especially if you don't have a car to hand. Breakfasts are the standard buffet fare, so eggs may be overcooked by the heated containers and other items a bit dried out.The dinner menu is typical of an airport hotel - nothing exciting, but a reasonable choice. The first night, the server suggested their 'awesome' fish and chips. Yes, they were so good I had them again two nights later. My wife expressed herself well pleased with her seafood chowder, and our other companion thought the burger worth eating.But it is the friendly chatty Ulster staff that set the restaurant above many hotel restaurants. Nothing intrusive, but straight helpful comments and a friendly smile.

The breakfast choice was excellent and was self-service. Therefore contact with the serving staff was minimal but were on hand quickly to keep our table clear of dishes after we finished.

Hi my husband ordered the Titanic burger, well it got the better of him I had to help. Very tasty and the bap was awesome, I ordered the chicken with Champ it was beautifully cooked the sauce was just enough and very tasty. We ordered the Finn larger to go with our meal it was crisp and cold.

It was not amazing but being as our rental car had already been returned it was our only option. I would not choose to dine there though had other options been easily accesable.

Has 2 visits within one week, having visited before was pleased to find same high standard of food and service still in evidence.

Stir Restaurant is totally same like mostly hotel restaurants. Food is good but a small selection of dishes, very polite staff but lack of experience.

Het personeel is erg jong en plichtmatig. Het eten wordt goed geserveerd en regelmatig vraagt men naar wensen. Toch is er geen sfeer in het restaurant.

Quality of the breakfast was 6/10 for me. A small range of hot food and a reasonable range of continental. Not much interaction with any staffI'm afraid. Didnt eat on the evening as I turned up late.

just had a wonderful meal in Stir Bistro/ Maldron Hotel. from start to finish it was superb. The young guy Marty showed us to our table, gave menus n took order etc, what a totally professional, pleasant young man. The food was fantastic. the drinks delightful. Well Done the Maldron, your portions are large your prices are small in comparison. we shall return.

First of all, start on a positive, we had dinner here the night we stayed, I had seafood chowder and it was delicious, I then had scampi which was, scampi! My husband has the soup which he enjoyed then fish and chips, again he enjoyed. Went down for breakfast and ordered a cooked breakfast, plenty of choice for cereals etc, made 2teas, the water was lukewarm, made toast but the machine wasn't working properly so burnt it, we were told the chef would make some with our breakfast, breakfast arrived, minus the toast, have to say we were very disappointed with the breakfast, the sausages were definitely very cheap and had no taste, the mushrooms very watery and tasteless and when poured onto the plate from the little gravy boat filled your plate with the horrible brown liquid that comes out of mushrooms. When we got to the airport we found we could have had a much nicer one on the airport cheaper! The staff in the restaurant were very lacking in customer service, nice enough girls but seemed like serving you was all they had to do, no customer interaction. The gentleman who actually brought us our food was very pleasant. The moral to the story is, have breakfast at the airport in future.

Breakfast terrible void cold , and greasy , coffee cold , evening meal was good , staff very friendly , and helpful , without staff hotel had nothing . Sitting in bedroom , and lounge were filthy . Traffic was horrific , ear plugs should be supplied . . Rooms were cleaned till after 3 ,

The menu in this restaurant wasn't over extensive but what was on display and what we ate was very food indeed. The food was warm and we didn't have long to wait to be served thanks to Ben and Jose who looked after us. Well worth the price and well done to all.

I needed to wait for my sister to arrive on a delayed Easyjet flight (what did I expect?) and decided to pop in and get something to eat, so walked the short distance from the airport door, say 100m over to the Maldron. It's got a reception that is so much nicer than say a typical premier inn type hotel, but arriving in Northern Ireland, I felt like I had stepped into the home of a good friend, rather than some normal hotel. I went straight through to the restaurant, having been already welcomed several times, but the welcome at the restaurant itself was worth paying for just by itself. With the recommendations and suggestions, I had a simple dinner of chunky chips, which weren't quite cooked enough, hence the 4 out of 5 stars. The ones that we're cooked were great and well worth the recommendation. The menu is thorough enough, and the prices are all over £10 to my memory. The warm Brownie dessert was melt in the mouth. A nice selection of teas, and when my wife arrived to pick us up, we moved down the the bar to wait in for my sister. I usually mention the toilets, and these didn't have the terrible smell just looked a little tired, but they were clean.So glad that we took time in here rather than waited in the restaurant. I cannot praise the staff that looked after U.S. While we were thee, they are worth the 5 stars alone. I need to mention Julie. She should train people in how to work with the public. They have a superstar in her. Thanks for the care and attention and chat Julie.Would I go again? For sure, the Maldron have the welcome perfected. Maybe I'll get more to eat next time...

Been here a few times for work and was delighted to see a New Menu, much better selection, the desserts are fab. Great service.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive especially Ante. The quality of the food was excellent and service from Ante was just wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and the food. Our food was delivered timely as we were going to a concert in the 3 Arena. It was very good value for money.

Nem sempre um restaurante de hotel é garantia de boa comida e serviço, mas o Stir nos surpreendeu pela excelente comida e pelo excepcional serviço prestado pelo garçon Ante, um croata simpatissímo que ama o que faz e sabe algumas palavras em português. Ele coleciona moedas dos países, assim como seu pai colecionava selos. Adorei a comida e o Ante! Procurem por ele!

I have just finished the best fish and chips I have had for a long time. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly and the food was delicious and very well presented. Was just what I needed over lunch time. Would highly recommend!

This was today, after me and my 2 friends got off from work & we made a bad decision to try this hotel food.The staff did not even greeted us, we waited to be seated but instead she told us the price of the breakfast and that we need to pay now, and were like standing literally at the door entrance of the restaurant. So, we paid, and then she left without even telling us where to seat, where or how to get the food. I asked for a full Irish breakfast and the server who did not even smile or greet paying customers just put without even presentation the food that was there. When I took a cup to get the coffee, only few drops came out of the machine, so I decided to get an orange juice, which is much worse as it tasted like water with food color on it. The scrambled egg is runny, rashers is like eating a rubber band, sausage taste like it's been reheat hundred times, hash brown is bland, the slow motion bread toaster,... i can go on and on and I think all I'm saying is we wasted 12 euros per person for a breakfast in this hotel! I could have just let it go if the staffs are even courteous enough and doesn't treated us like were asking for free food. Overall, it ruined my day, my appetite and wasted money & time in coming to this hotel. It's only 9AM and the manager is sitting there reading the paper, where he could have keep an eye on their food and services. First time is enough, won't come back ever!

Stayed overnight prior to flight.Staff a bit like faulty towers all over the place .Good restaurant .Restaurant should have good staff to support it but supplied by hotel staff! Meal excellent Had the best ever tikka Masala with delicate crispy pompadoms and rice and found few chips hidden underneath Partner had the burger with trimmings and said it was excellent.Chef is lost in place like this because hotel is below par and brings reputation of restaurant down !

After a year of marriage we were invited back for a complimentary meal. They couldn't have been more attentive. The meal itself was really lovely tasted gorgeous. The staff were very polite and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We booked this restaurant as we were staying in the hotel before a very early flight. We didn't expect much, just the usual airport hotel food. We were greated by a super friendly and professional maitre'd and shown to a window seat with a pleasent view of a small courtyard. The menu is well varied and has choices for everyone. I decided upon pepper chicken and my wife the pork. Both were excellently cook and the presentation was to excellent standard. The waiting staff were very attentive and prompt with drinks orders. I will definitely return before my next holiday as this restaurant is definitely a hidden gem

This was my first visit to this restaurant. Although the menu was quite limited, I was very pleased with the vegetarian pasta I chose. Thought menu was a bit pricey. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would have rated it excellent had it been less pricey.

We arrived at 21.30 but were still able to eat in the restaurant. The menu isn't extensive but there was sufficient choice for our party of five. Quality was good and prices were reasonable - certainly not exploitative of the location, which is, as advertised in the hotel, 50m from the airport entrance. Quality was good as was the service. The decor is contemporary, almost Spartan, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience.

I had the seafood chowder to start which is a personal favourite. The version here didn't disappoint - creamy and full of flavour. The fish was varied and plentiful, balanced well by chunks of potato and well seasoned. The lambs liver to follow was well cooked (still moist), and plenty of bacon with it. The gravy had that real home-cooked flavour. Both dishes were very welcome comfort food on a cold November night. Service was also excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Small menu - recommend the trio of fillet steak. The menu cover's look as if they were bought of ebay from a defunct motorway cafe. They look horribly naff and may well have put me off had I seen them before I sat. The kitchen is slow, but the food and service was excellent.

You can eat in the bar for a quick snack and drink which is very comfortable or indulge in something more substantial in the restaurant. It was enjoyable watching the hares running around the garden.

Meal was nice and the Maitre De ( a spanish gentleman) was very professional. He was in fact the the saving grace of staying at the hotel.

We ate at 8pm. Saturday night. Staff friendly. Restaurant lovely but empty. Menu limited and a bit overpriced. Food itself, just ok.

I have stayed in the hotel a couple of times and I always dine downstairs. Last time we got an absolutely gorgeous Guinness hot pot and a very nice burger with blue cheese. On my previous stay I had a rather average lasagne - not sure, if it was just bad luck or the chef has changed since. Either way, the staff is always very friendly and helpful, servings quite hearty, and pricing is not too bad, considering the location. The only complaint I would make is that the guests are being seated very close to one another, despite the restaurant not being busy. One can feel uncomfortable, unwillingly overhearing other's conversations. A bit more space between the tables wouldn't hurt.

Good meal in relaxed and friendly surroundings. We ate as a group of nine, were well served with tasty food by friendly attentive staff - particularly Jose and Julie, (where else would you have someone offer to bring in their own cheese and crackers for a guest staying the following night because chees and biscuits were not on the menu?) Nice one Julie! No pretences to haut cuisine, but a good, honest tasty meal. I enjoyed it.

we had breakfast here for £12 each thinking it would be better value than the airport. We were wrong- it was terrible. The sausages were anaemic, the bacon overcooked, the mushroom watery and the soda bread greasy. I would rather eat an airline breakfast!!

I think there would be something on the menu to suit everyone.Meals arrived piping hot and well presented and we did'nt have to wait long. The staff were friendly,helpful and attentative. We would certainly eat here again.

The Park Plaza is very convenient, but I think the restaurant rather trades on this. I was there with work and was impressed by the surroundings. The staff were very helpful, especially the Spanish waiter. However the food really wasn't very good. I had pate to start which was average at best and followed that up with Scampi. The batter was really quite soggy and the prawns rather tiny. I had expected lucious local Portavogie prawns covered in a light crispy batter...I was disappointed. Others in the party were no more impressed. Less impressed was a colleague whose main course never arrived.I would try the Templeton Hotel down the round instead.

Staying at the Park Plaza Hotel leaves you somewhat isolated from anywhere else to eat, so with regret I ate there again. It really is poor. That’s the most generous description I can offer.Service is poor, the food is poor, the prices are high.My prawns with marie rose sauce arrived on a bed of oily salad with a dollop of maire rose sauce on top and a slice of lemon too thin to be anything but garnish. Bleah.My chicken and ham pie looked dry and was dry. I never discovered the ham. The accompanying chips tasted of the oil/fat/axle-grease they were cooked in. The same as my last visit. The side salad was the same oily stuff from earlier.To redeem this the Guinness was wonderful. Service wasn’t though with no-one asking how the food was, no-one being available to ask for any ketchup or something to help the food go down. Then to pay silly hotel prices.Irish fare should be and is normally so much better than this pale imitation. My recommendation is eat somewhere else if you can.

Got a special offer with wine included but the stay was not very pleasurable , the rooms have a view of a car park , and the quality of food was very poor. The wine we also got included must have been the cheapest wine the hotel could buy as it was an English wine but was absolutely disgusting, and if the hotel spent a few more pound, they might have more satisfied customers. The hotel rooms were adequate but nothing to write home about The guiness was very watered down and is much better in DublinOverall experience , was not good, with bad food and bad drinks, was a recipe for disaster. Menu was not very exciting for a restaurant and staff abit forgetful at times
