We drove from Broadstone looking forward to having lunch and purchase some plants for the garden. This is the first time we have been to stewarts since covid On arrival we were very dissapointed to be confronted with a notice NO DOGS. There was no way we would leave them in the car. I spoke to a lady on the till just inside and asked her why. She was very abrupt to the point of rudeness and said the staff were fed up with clearing up after dogs. When I said I might write to Mr Stewart she just said "Your wasting your time he's not interested. Mr Stewart , when I lived in Chistchurch I and my dog visited at least twice a week to use the cafe and spend a good two hours at your establishment . My dog never made a mess but if he had I would have picked it up immediately. I have to say I never saw any dog bins on show perhaps there were but not prominent. Sorry for the moan but I feel dissapointed and discriminated against as must hundreds of responsible dog owners

Came here late afternoon with my parents. Lovely outdoor area to wander around, nice and spacious with a lovely arrangement of flowers and garden statues to purchase. Indoor shop also fantastic to look around. Ordered a latte and chocolate cake in the cafe. They also had very luxurious looking Coffee cake and Victoria Sponge on sale that day as well. Coffee is good quality and the cake was very well made and tasted amazing. The generous portion size also makes it good value for money. It is excellent that all the cakes are totally covered behind a glass cabinet, especially during the summer season, which is superb hygiene. Quite a few young staff working in the cafe, who were all very friendly, polite and hardworking. This garden centre is very unique, as it has a lovely play area in the car park grounds, and also some benches next to the car park, situated in a lovely scenic little garden area with a small japanese style summer house, which gives added character.

Stewart's Garden Centre, Broomhill do a good veggie breakfast. The two main choices are egg florentine, and they don't skimp on the Hollandaise, or the veg full English, with scrambled, fried or poached eggs, choice of toasts and veg sausage ( the crockette sort), hash brown, beans, mushrooms and avocado. I swap the avocado for spinach. You can have just egg or beans on toast. It's a great way to start the day. There are good veggie choices on the lunch menu too. I'm a regular customer there.

Poor quality self-destructing products causing consequential losses including carpet cleaning. Glass terrariums shouldn't explode of their own accord, glass is far too thin and it was already a replacement for the first one which was a gift and shattered before even being presented. Not the first product to last less than 12 months, won't visit anymore.

Hi ,we were pleased to arrive and the garden centre was open early today and sat down to have eggs on toast. I like the garden centre and the staff were helpful however, poached eggs so underdone that the yoke fell off the white which was clear and hardly solidified on top of toast which instead of butter had cheap spread on it ,wasnt good at all. Your'e almost there, but please look at the finer details as they do count! And the basics are a cooked egg and butter in the toast.

Came for coffee and stayed for lunch. Living in Creekmoor our choice is normally between Haskins or Broom Hill. Two totally different Garden centres and resturants. Haskins resturant is far bigger with a lot more choice of food and cakes. Broom Hill in comparison is far smaller with less choice. However, we would always reccomend Broom Hill for a more relaxing experience plus it's table service. The food is tasty and well presented. The staff are brilliant! Ok, prices have increased but prices have increased everywhere. The sandwich meals in particular can often be shared between 2 people. If a main meal is to big order the lighter option. You pay your money and take your choice. Would we recommend? Definitely.

Been coming for years, but will not return next year. The Santa this year was rude, and did not know how to interact with kids. He made my 7yo feel so bad he teared up, and not in the way young kids cry around strangers, but because he basically said he was Naughty (he had literally walked into the room, sat quietly onto the seat by Santa, said or touched nothing!!!) Awful, so angry and let down. Just hope he has not ruined the magic of Santa.

First visit to this garden centre in years. Amazing Christmas display and Christmas selfie area. In the cafe, I had the black forest gateau, which was without a doubt, the best I have ever had. The portion was very generous, easily enough for two to share, therefore very good value for money indeed. I was very impressed they do table service in the cafe, and that without asking, I was given an additional jug of hot milk with my latte. Very clean cafe area, with incredibly friendly staff, so polite and welcoming, made our visit a wonderful day out.

We went as a family to see Father Christmas, the experience was awful, no engagement with our 1 year old grandson despite having to pay £17.50 for him. The elf taking the photos was yawning. Our 3 year old grandson was told not to touch the presents. Santa did not engage with him as he didn't answer the questions asked. We were rushed out and then had to pay extra if we wanted photos. The presents were poor, not worth the money at all.

Unable to take dogs with us, not even outside, shame, as there are a lot of dog friendly locals. We went to in excess, they have a dog lounge, as do magna road, very family orientated, and not everyone wants to leave their dog at home or in car. Stewarts have said the staff voted dogs out, so I asked a couple, they denied it. Maybe reconsider an outside area. A lot of customers have been loyal for many years.

Greatly disappointed , the coffee tasted really chemical, when we complained, a member of staff, came to our table questioning if we were sure the coffee didn't taste as it should and that they had sold hundreds of cups and nobody else had complained ! ( we felt she was quite rude unnecessarily so) whatever happened to ‘the customer is always right ? We will vote with our feet and will certainly never buy their coffee again. We would therefore certainly not recommend this restaurant.

Stewart's is our favourite garden centre and we have been visiting and enjoying food in their restaurant for many years. However, the menu has changed recently and we find the meals to be expensive and in many cases too large. Last weekend my husband chose the quiche and was offered the sweet potato chips option, which he accepted. However, he did not notice on the menu that sweet potato would incur an extra charge, therefore bringing the cost to £14.40 which we feel is too much. I chose the tuna and cheese toastie and again my husband accepted the sweet potato chips option, unaware of the extra charge, thus bringing the cost to £10.90. A toastie only needs a salad accompaniment, not chips of any kind which is far too many carbs on one plate! In fact neither menu choice needed chips and we both failed to finish our meals as there was just too much food! Be both hate waste and have sadly decided we will have to go elsewhere for lunch in future.

Jacket potato with beans and cheese goes down a treat. Always wonderful plants on sale. Will be back lots this Summer. Now we perfectly accept that business’s can decide to change, but what shocked us was that whilst we were discussing this an extremely rude member of staff loudly exclaimed “it’s been like this for ages” & “ well you obviously haven’t been here for a long time” this was all said very loudly & in a rude tone. Firstly - the good points. Despite what I read elsewhere, the staff seemed friendly and helpful. The cafe area was spacious and there was plenty of space to eat considering it was Sunday lunchtime, unfortunately - I now know why.My child's sandwich seemed fresh and despite a lack of any real choice in the kids selection box (not a yoghurt in sight..), this was generally ok.Having tried the soup (a nice touch to allow a try, but tasted too-much of vinegar - not for her), my better half elected for simple cheese jacket potato. There was a nice little side salad, but there the enjoyment ended. The jacket spud looked like it has been there for a good few months and came with a mountain of what looked like semi-dried cheese. A few mouthfuls later, the better half declared herself to be 'done', thank you. How can you muck up a jacket spud? I mean really..I ventured a chicken and bacon baguette. What I actually got resembled lumpy cat sick that smelled of vinegar, not the tasty slices of meat I was anticipating. Ok - a chicken and bacon mayo - might be ok eh? Nope. Overpowering mayo with miscellaneous unidentifiable chunks was what I was rewarded with. The highlight (again) was the salad. Grim. I worked my way through it (I hate leaving food), but just over an hour later I am really regretting that move. Time to dust off the peppermint tea..It's sad to write bad things about a local business, but with two sarnies and a spud coming in well north of twenty quid, you'd at least expect to be able to eat it. You don't mind paying for quality, but I should imagine this food wouldn't look out of place in a prison.Sorry Stewarts - you've let things slip rather badly. We won't bother eating with you again.

We had been told by friends that it would be nice to try Stewarts restaurant for lunch as we had noted that our local garden centre was expensive. What a disappointment. The menu offered soup and fresh bread but the bread had been pre-cut and left out to go dry and unpalatable. The cakes selection was poor and the Rock Buns were more than a couple of days old and dry. The Coronation chicken baguette was dry and the filling tasted only of chicken and mayo with a few raisins - the apricots were missing!. We won't be trying again and will go back to Haskins - the price may be a little more, but the quality makes it worth the visit.

We regularly visit Broomhill, Stewart's to buy plants and also participate in the 'Two Courses' evening on a Thursday. I don't usually write reviews but after yesterday evening I feel compelled to air my views. The meal itself was lovely and being Vegetarians we are spoilt for choice....however, last night unfortunately the lady serving the food seemed very stressed and I should imagine she was in charge of the cafe was considerably rude throughout the evening not just to us but notably others. She served our meals with such disrespect and to be honest I felt like walking away then. She then upon clearing the tables mentioned abruptly that we didn't need our table number marker any more and took our pudding bowls swiftly and banged them with some force together onto the tray. My wife's mother bought us extra drinks and again she was very rude....Such a shame as we have had countless meals there before and last night we had bought my wife's mother for a meal too. I shall most certainly think twice about drinking/eating in the cafe again....

We went here for mother’s day and arrived early to ensure a table. It was a nice day so we sat outside. I opted for the roast lunch. It was plated up and I was told they’d run out of keep warm lids. The next thing along was quiche and salad. I couldn’t by pass the queue for that as the next thing was teas and coffees and there was a big queue for those too.I was in the queue for a while. By the time I got outside all the veg were cold and the beef I found was thin and stringy with lots of fat. Very disappointed. My mother in law opted for the afternoon tea. But that had arrived before we got back outside! Mostly white bread sandwiches, a couple of scones and about 4 cakes. I understand putting tea and coffee at the end, but surely put cold foods before hot? The cafe at the Christchurch one is much better laid out! I think they need more than one till, so that if you’ve got hot food you can pay and go and eat it!

Recommended this place for afternoon tea and wasn’t disappointed. The price is far less than so many tea shops and hotels charge but this didn’t affect the quality or the quantity of the food which is freshly cooked - in some cases still warm. There is even a savoury option for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. You do have to go up to the counter to order but the tea is brought to you at the table. The staff were all helpful and the cafe is a comfortable and pleasant place to enjoy your food. As a bonus of course you have the chance to look around this excellent garden centre. Went into the cafe to order food. First lady told me the children's food was 'over there'. They didn't want a lunch box. After looking at the hot food we decided not to eat. It was uncovered and lots of people in the queue coughing. Ordered coffee and hot chocolates instead. The girl making the hot drinks (apologies can't recall her name) was the politest person there.Got to the till and was served by an abrupt and quite frankly rude lady who demanded to know what our food order was, I explained hot drinks only and despite this she left the till area and walked down to the food counter to 'check' !! Clearly the children were not welcome despite having excellent manners, in fact had another couple come over to our table to compliment their good behaviour. Really off putting and I won't be bringing them back again. Poor attitude from staff.

Been visiting Stewart’s for decades I took a friend who hadn’t been before as new to the area but the jacket potatoes were tooooo over cooked the skin was like leather and obviously these items had been left cooking for a very long time. The food has become more tasteless and too expensive for what it is so very disappointed won’t be going into the cafe much in the future which is a shame

We have recently been in a couple of times for garden stuff and had a variety of items from the menu. All items have been well described by the serving staff if any help is needed, and then beautifully served to your table.

The menu board was quite comprehensive with good vegetarian choices, my wife opted for the vegetable quiche, my sister-in-law had the vegetable lasagne and I had steak and mushroom pie. We all agreed the our meals tasted good and also the portion sizes were really generous. The staff were helpful and always had a smile for all the customers, the atmosphere was calm and unrushed, A pleasant experience.

We visited the garden centre looking for courgette plants. We are relatively new to gardening and didn't know what to look for but Mandy was so helpful, advising us on container size, soil type and care of vegetables. She went out of her way to assist us and we came out feeling far more confident than when we went in. Fingers crossed we have some successful plants this summer.

We have been visiting Stewart’s at Broomhill regularly for years, for both the garden centre and cafe. The garden centre itself is well stocked with a wide variety of plants. The staff in both the garden centre and cafe are very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Can’t comment on the main meals in the restaurant as we are only ever there for tea and cakes, but these I recommend. Finally, I have to say I am completely amazed by the comments from a previous reviewer who had a bad experience when asking to use the facilities. The staff in my experience are consistently excellent.

My partner and I were due to meet 4 friends for lunch on Thursday, we arrived early, my partner needed to use facility's before our dining companions arrived. He entered the centre by himself and asked a lady member of staff where the toilet was.. She told him he had to be a customer to use the facilities.. He informed her that he was meeting friends for lunch and was soon to make a purchase. She told him in no uncertain terms that he could not us toilets.. This was discrimination.... My partner returned to me waiting in the car and informed me what had happened, or should I say, not happened.. He is in his early 50's a retired successful business man and with plenty of cash to spend..We were both astonished by the actions of this one member of staff.. I was soon on the phone to our friends and arranged to meet elsewhere... We as a collective of 6 with many friends will avoid Stewarts in the future.. I only hope that management look back through their internal cctv and speek to the staff member, who is a bad advertisement/member of staff for the company. Its not as if your centre is in the middle of anywhere... You are rural and so why would this or any other person think that a gentleman would drive out solely to use a toilet... Unbelievable.....

I am a regular Stewart’s shopper, living locally it’s my first choice as a garden centre. I love it there, dog friendly, great gifts and of course a good choice of plants. I have nearly always been impressed by the restaurant too, until today, having not visited it for a while. As a vegetarian, as was my friend who accompanied me, we were disappointed to find the soup of the day contained bacon, when usually it is a vegetable soup. So decided on just salad, as the salads have always been excellent with imaginative ingredients and plenty of choices. Beans, nuts, feta cheese or egg etc. The variety has been drastically cut, with just boring items like cucumber, tomato, peppers, lettuce etc. Previously the salads were amazing.

It is a nice garden centre but the restaurant could be so much better. We had the cauliflower pasta bake. It was lukewarm, the cauliflower was beige and had obviously been cooked twice. The chips were soggy and cold. I have had better school dinners. It's not the first time we have had an awful meal here. They never seem to improve.

One of the worst English breakfast that I have ever had. The fried eggs were rock hard on all three plates so consistant, and when my wife cut her egg in half oil ran out and smelt bad. The beans and bacon was cold . 2 young waitresses more concerned with playing with their phones then clearing up or serving anyone.

What a beautiful ambience, then there is the excellent home cooked food. The 3 of us enjoyed a different main course and cleared our plates. David is a dedicated owner, chef and exceptional host. Good wines too and comfortable clean surroundings. Dawn has a lovely welcoming personality.
