Stella in Sunderland

refused to give 50 pounds they took, paid extra for bouncers that just ate all the food and did nothing, when asked for the 50 quid back the woman in charge shouted and humiliated my sister. tried to blame us for breaking the toilet seat even though pictures were took before of it being broken. this place really disappointed me and my family and all the woman did who was in charge was complain and have an attitude towards my family. still havent been given the money back.

A decent pub venue with a capacity to hold hundreds of people. Went there and had a good time with a group of people. Service was decent, nothing spectacular, but decent enough.

Where to start line checks being done while the function was on dirty toilets and the room was freezing like bad. I can tell the function room they have done it out as last time I went there was a damp problem bad but the rest of the place is falling apart and needs to be cleaned properly and line checks done on a night or first thing not at 1pm in the afternoon

Rundown. Needs to be totally renovated.

Disgusting prices in the function room alcohol was cheaper to buy in the bar, WHY,,,, I ordered a gin and tonic and the tonic is in tiny minuture bottles, don't know how they dare it's just sheer greed, when i complained she went into the bar and came back with a regular size bottle, I will not be going back there , it's sheer greed

Was once a favourite place of mine but has been in a bit of decline. Needs a serious update. Toilets condemned. Leaking roofs. Can no longer watch football there as tv's are older than me and well past it. OK atmosphere but too many undesirables allowed to rule the roost

Great, friendly pub for all age groups, very reasonable prices. Frequent entertainment. Food can be arranged for functions with advance notice, otherwise only snacks available. Comfortable seating, excellent juke box, abundant TV sets with most sporting events broadcast, little wonder it's so popular...

Only a quick visit, but it struck me as a dive.

Very friendly place to come. Been coming in here with my son and my parents on a Friday for the last month and nothing but friendly vibes.

We had the function room for a rock venue for a charity close to all our hearts macmillan. We raised a fantastic amount for the charity, and we got the function room included. Fantastic night great atmosphere and lovely staff, thank you all so much xxx

Good pint good price what more do you want

Always had drinks in here since I was a young boy when it was called the Stella Maris with my dad (soft drinks back then 😂) but it used to be a Catholic club then was converted into a like sports bar. Looks great with a good atmosphere and a very decent sized function room with enough space to cater for a few hundred guests.

Always a pleasant place to drink and play darts and dominoes. The manageress and manager are extremely friendly and helpful.

Unfortunate it was a very good friend's wake but he had a very good send off. After meeting at 1300hrs at the Crem ít was well after 1900hrs when everyone left. Just the type of send off he would have liked. Good on his family!

Unfortunately attending a wake. Buffet provided by the Stella was good.

Good venue for a party but the bar staff in the function room just charge what they want. Had to take first round of drinks back because the lemonade needed changing and then the next round I bought of exactly the same drinks cost 4 pound more than the first ones.

Love this place, staff are very attentive and friendly.

Pretty clean, but lager tasted foul

Not the Stella, we were at the Kylin Chinese restaurant, where we had an excellent meal with friends.

Manager and manageress have no control whatsoever. People queuing at the bar. No masks worn, no track n trace. They just pay lip service to the covid rules.

We recently ate at the Kylin Chinese restaurant, which is in part of the old Stella Maris club. We got a warm welcome, good food & great service. Covid guidelines were fully enforced. Thank you Kylin.

Brilliant new year at the Stella

We were in for after meal drinks, and thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially when landlord was from my hometown. X

Increased prices by 30p a pint because they had a captive audience. No heating on, rude management who were only interested in getting drunk and having their own good time and not how the evening was going for their customers.

A great Tuesday night as always in the Stella. Great turn John Corbett, he always entertains us

This place is an absolute dive but that's kinda why it's good. Like The Jockey from Shameless. While I was there there were 3 lads in the beer garden spitting all over the place, and a really mortal guy trying to break into the Kylin Chinese next door, who then came into the pub and behaved in a racist manner towards some black lasses. He was chucked out like, of course. Then he threw a bottle of brown ale at the school. Can't beat it for crack.

Its local to me, pleasant atmosphere, love the country and western Lazy U club on first friday of the month. Staff pleasant, only faults i have is, stage background shabby, and resin dance floor not good for dancing, they both need upgrading. Otherwise would have got 5 stars.

Went to a surprise birthday party, party was fab but didn't rake the place it's self very good, the lady in a group drink gin n tonic would have been nice if they had been served in nice glasses instead of half pint glass and we had to keep asking for ice
