I'd booked Stefs on Berners Street back in August for good friends 40th & 50th birthday celebrations this weekend mainly because it was right under the apartment we were staying.

I was a little sceptical when I walked in as I generally stick to more quaint, traditional Italians, having been to Italy several times. However, my fears dissipated very quickly as a was served the most beautiful food in a long time with a bottomless supply of Prosecco (never a bad thing). All for a reasonable price!

We first came across Stefs some years ago. As we walked down Oxford Street looking for a place to eat I glanced down Berners Street and there it was. We were warmly greeted by Rosario, as we sat down the owner himself introduced himself. We had a great evening with Stefano and his staff. The food was just what you would expect from a good Italian restaurant with service to match. Every time we are in London we always go to Stefs. Highly recommended.

My friends and I had dinner at Stef's Italian and it was absolutely delicious. We all had pasta (alla Marilyn, alla campagnola and alla primavera) and each of the dishes was so full of flavour. The portions were spot on and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The waiters were friendly and funny and pudding (Panna cotta and Tiramisu) was gorgeous. The food all came out really quickly. I've been going to Stef's for quite a few years... And never had a bad experience yet! It's a large open room with tables, with a buzz when full that still isn't too laud! Minimal decor! But it's tasteful what there is of it, but it's a proper Italian.... It's all about the food, your friends and enjoying yourself! What else do you need. But the food is great, the staff are happy, smiling and don't rush you! It's all part of the enjoyment! No need to pick out specific dishes... It's all good!Seek out Stef's.... I took the veal in mushroom sauce which besides the waiting staff was the highlight for the evening. Still to find a Italian restaurant that can do Veal like Rome but that is just a personal standard. My wife had the Fish, seafood special which in her words where "ok". They have a brunch deal at the weekend with 3 courses and bottomless prosecco for £35 which is really good value. The food is OK, not many options for me as I am a lactose intolerant vegetarian, but that's a given in an Italian restaurant. The service was laid back, maybe too much but it never ruined the vibe as they were friendly. Until the end of the meal when we were over charged over three times, and they hadn't seemed to listen us at all.Close to Soho and an option near Gay Pride that wasn't already fully booked, so for the situation it was fine but I doubt I'll go back for more.

The 3 course deal with unlimited prosecco is amazing value. It's £35 and there is a set time of 2hrs for the prosecco but they don't start that until everyone in your booking has arrived and they ask you when you are ready. At that point it's basically drink as much prosecco as you can!! They do not restrict you at all, it gets busy so you may just need to keep catching the waiters eye every time you need a new bottle. The food overall was good, the menu selection for the 3 courses was varied. I'd recommend the pizza for main. The service was excellent, our waiter who I think was one of the managers was a real character and wanted to know all our names and had some good banter with us.Hopefully the unlimited prosecco offer continues as I'm looking forward to going back again!

I was recommended the restaurant by a good friend but it didn't reach my expectations. The starter, calamari was overcooked and the main fillet of pork was very salty. The service was quick but the waiter was probably bored as he was singing and chatting with the rest of the staff. I don't know if the problem was that the restaurant was almost empty at that time or that we sat very close to the kitchen. I didn't find the overall value very attractive so I don't think I'll recommend it or go back.

My friend and I booked a special deal of 3 course meal and unlimited Prosecco for 1.5 hours. The place was very busy as there was a few hen do - and we were amazed that there were only 3 waiters to deal with it all!The food was very good - tasteful and plentiful and fresh. The Prosecco was also very good but we didn't like the fact that the bottle was left on the table for us to help ourselves but we then had to wait 30 minutes to get another one.The main issue we had was with the customer services - I know the place was very busy, but in all honestly, most people had booked therefore they knew how many people they were expecting and should have had sufficient number of staff to cover the workload.I had to ask 3 times to have some tap water - and when it finally came there was no glasses! There was no salt on the table, and once again I had to wait and ask 2 different waiters to provide me with some salt - which they didn't bring so in the end I had to go and get it myself from the waiter's table - however one of the waiter then saw the salt at the table and took it back - I had to call him to say that I still needed to use it but he used it for me on my food and disappeared before I could taste the food to see if it was salty enough. We also had to wait a very long time in between courses as no body seemed to be paying us any mind -We waited 35 minutes for the bill to be delivered and another 20 minutes for somebody to bring the card machine. All in all this is not a place that I would recommend due to its very poor customer service.

I visited this restaurant with my mum after a day out in London as a treat for her birthday. We waited a good couple of minutes before anyone even acknowledged our arrival, 2 waiters walked past us and completely ignored us. We finally got seated and handed a menu half heartedly. We waited a good 15 minutes for anyone to take our drinks order and we didn't receive our drinks until 15 minutes after that. We had the king prawns to start which were ok, slightly lacking in flavour. For our mains we both had pizza which again was ok but nothing special. Looking around it seemed that pretty much all of the starters were cooked in the same sauce. We then waited another 25 minutes before anyone took our plates and were pretty much thrown a dessert menu. We decided upon desserts but were not asked once by any waiter what we would like so after 30 minutes of waiting and trying to catch someones attention we gave up. We got speaking to the two ladies on the table next to us who were extremely unhappy with the service and also their food! Upon talking to the waiter who also turned out to be the manager they explained how both parties were extremely unhappy with the food he stated to them that they (meaning my mum and I) had pizza so what did they expect, it's not proper food! This consequently made me extremely angry, he was talking to these ladies as if we were not there and being horrendously rude about us and our food choices. At the end of the day I am paying money I will choose to eat what I want and I'm extremely glad that I didn't choose anything else on the menu and waste even more money on rubbish food. I proceeded to tell him that my father is Italian and I'm very knowledgable about Italian food- including Italian pizzas having been to Italy every single summer since I was born! Nobody has ever made me this angry, his whole attitude towards my mum and I was appalling and I'm so upset that we were made the feel that way. I have been to many Italian restaurants in my time, there is no way the food we ate and the food we saw was anything near to Italian standard, quite frankly offensive. I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anybody. I think it's shameful that staff that are employed to work there feel that it's appropriate to talk to their customers in the manor that we were spoken to.

We were sitting for at least 10 minutes before anyone came over to ask if we needed anything to offer drinks or even show us a menu, we found the food to be all the same sauce on everything no a great choice, the mains were also not up to what we had expected, the pizza was the only thing that got eaten, but if an Italian restaurant can't make a pizza, what's the point. The service was very poor we had to keep trying to get the waiters attention, then half way through the lunch some one washed the stairs to go down to the toilets making it so dangerous it was best to wait and not use the toilets. very unhappy this ruined our day out.

I needed to find a restaurant as part of a dinner club we were organising in London. A friend recommended Stef's Italian as good quality food, authentic and great value for money.I booked a table for ten people (11 people in the end-not a problem) and Stef and his team made my 'hosting' experience very easy-we had great fun! We were all made to literally feel at home the moment we walked through the door. The atmosphere of the restaurant was electric. The restaurant was packed but the staff were still very attentive and we did not feel rushed. We all had the two or three course set menu with prosecco-amazing value for money at £16.95 and 19.95. I had the calamari as starter, catch of the day-tilapia on a bed of mash with lobster bisque and juicy prawns. For dessert-delicious amaretto mousse! We had such great fun, we were late meeting the other dinner club groups :-)! I highly recommend Stef's Italian-you will not be disappointed with your authentic 'taste of Italy' in a great location-near Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. I will definitely be going again and have highly recommended it to friends already. Great variety of choice on the set menu but will probably try the a la carte menu next time.

Went with friends for dinner on a Saturday night. Unlimited Prosecco for 2 hours special deal with a 3 course meal for £35 a head. So far, so good but then they had run out of one of the 4 starters (mussels) by 8pm. Fair dues to the waiter who gave us another option from the a la carte (mushrooms on toast). The Prosecco was unlimited as advertised and replaced quickly so no complaints there. No complaints at all really it's just that the food really wasn't anything special. I had insalate tricolore followed by chicken and then amaretto cream. I didn't catch the waiter's name but he was very attentive. I just wasn't inspired and so will carry on trying out different restaurants in London rather than coming back to this one.

I visited Stef's Italian last night to catch up with friends, after reading good reviews on here and discovering a good 3 course offer! When we arrived at the restaurant it took 25 minutes for someone to bring us menus, despite being acknowledged by two different waiters saying they would be a moment. In the meantime a hen party of around 20 diners arrived, they had drinks and had ordered before we were even given menus. After the 25 minute wait, the waiter basically threw the menus down and ran off, he didn't explain the different offers that were on and didn't give us the opportunity to ask.We called another waiter over who kindly explained one of the deals (the most expensive option) he seemed unaware of any others - although advertised on the sign outside. We asked for water which took 15 minutes to come and was warm. After we finally got to order the wait for the food was OK - as expected on a Saturday evening. The food itself was OK - not the best but good value on the deal. The wine was one of the worst I have ever tasted but again we had an offer so we expect you get what you pay for. The service then deteriorated again, we asked for the bill and waited 20 minutes whilst the waiter in question seemed to be chatting to colleagues. They added an optional service charge to the bill, when he questioned I explained we didn't want to pay this optional charge due to the bad service. The waiter was very cocky and he denied we had waited at all, when I then explained about the 15 minute wait for water on top of this, he rudely said it was because we ordered tap water and pulled a judgemental face. The debate then continued with the water expressing 'I don't care anyway, it's optional, whatever' to which we responded 'we know it's optional that's why we will not pay it'.The waiter walked off and laughed to his colleague, both looking over in our direction and making us feel very uncomfortable. We were appalled by the service, we understand that places get busy on a Saturday but there were more than enough staff and the place was not full. Many people who arrived after us were served before us and it seemed they had more time for the hen party (who would probably only be visiting once) than the rest of the customers.

A friend and I went to Stef's last Saturday for dinner. As we are on a budget I booked online for the three courses and a glass of Prosecco for £19.99. I didn't receive a confirmation email so called the day before just to make sure they had received my booking. They confirmed that I was booked in. Maybe I should have insisted they send me a confirmation so that I had in writing what I had booked for. When we arrived they were very busy, but we were seated straight away thanks to our reservation. The waiter came immediately with a bottle of Prosecco and poured us a glass each, however he then put the bottle in an ice bucket at the side of the table. We thought nothing of it but during the course of the meal he continued to fill our glasses. We were busy talking and again thought it was strange but didn't say anything. However, when we came to the end of the meal and asked for the bill we were shocked to find that rather than around £40 plus service the total was just short of £80. When we queried it we were told we had had a bottle of Prosecco and had obviously been charged for the three courses and unlimited Prosecco deal. We were told that if we didn't want it we should have said something. Now forgive me if I'm wrong but when you go into a restaurant aren't they supposed to ask you what you want rather than give you something you don't ask for and then tell you off at the end for not saying anything? At no time during our visit were we asked about drinks. I have lived in London for many years and refuse to be taken advantage of by a bunch of crooks out to fleece people, mostly visitors I would guess. The food was good but we still left with a bitter taste in our mouths and I will not be dining there again.

Visited this restaurant early evening on a Saturday night around 1730hrs, it was very busy probably due to it's location just off Oxford Street. The service was fast and the food good and good value for money considering the location. The tables are quite close together and it was very loud when we arrived probably due to several large tables.Would recommend this for a quick Italian meal after a days shopping.

Our waiter was incredibly unhelpful and quite frankly, a bit rude. He walked away from our table twice while we were ordering drinks and did not return until one of us got his attention again. When he brought our drinks over, he effectively threw our bottle of wine on the table and did not even open it. It took 15 minutes to get his attention to point this out to him. He did not once check whether we were happy with our food. Plus, my absolutely pet hate, he started clearing plates before we'd all finished, even attempting to take a plate while one of us was still eating. Overall, the food was good but the service was dreadful.

We treated ourselves to an evening at Stefs for our anniversary and were made so welcome by Stef, Rosario, and the team. Add to this excellently prepared and presented authentic Italian cuisine, copious amounts of quality vino at sensible prices, and highly enjoyable company (sorry though Stef your jokes are dodgey!) and you have the recipe for a brillant and thoroughly enjoyable evening out. Don't believe us folks, try Stef's for yourself - and enjoy!

We picked Stef's in the hope of finding somewhere pleasant and reasonably priced to eat before a visit to the London Palladium. We not disappointed. Delightful people too.

This restaurant is the first place that reconciled me with food in the UK.We are always very welcomed, the staff is really polite, smily and professional. The food is absolutely incredible and very substantial. Moreover prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. I would advise you to try this place if you are looking for a real taste of Italy in London!

We came along here for a birthday meal and were delighted with the restaurant. Staff were attentive, amusing and the menu had a wide range of choices. My husband had the calves liver which was excellent and the pasta dishes were of a high standard too. Will definitely return here.

This is the third time we have visited this restaurant and again have not been disappointed, The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The waiter has this knack of remembering a complete order (no writing anything down) and then delivering it to the correct people! The menu has something for all tastes and budgets. We have always gone for family celebrations with diverse ages and tastes - all have been well looked after. I had a delicious Oriechette pasta with broccoli and Italian sausage sauce, my son had the Seafood risotto, my mother the calves liver, my husband the Saltinbocca and my father the salmon with prawn and lobster sauce. I would heartily recommenced this restaurant.

Booked a unlimited bubbles meal deal .Arrived An hour earlier than our booking on the off chance we could eat earlier , no problem at all , no hassle seated straight away . Lovely friendly welcome by the owner Stef , who has a great sense of humour . Would recommend mussels as starter , cooked in a delicious tomato sauce , followed by tagiatelle salmone again cooked in a tasty sauce and superb large portions . Great ambience to this place and great location just off Oxford Street . No messing with the unlimited prosecco which was off good quality! We were given a bottle straight away and replaced as soon as this was empty . Great value for money ! Nice to be appreciated when you go for dinner . Will recommend to anyone and look forward to revisiting shortly ! My wife and I had a throughly enjoyable evening here . Can't understand any of the negative comments on here , don't think they could have been at the same restaurant that I visited !

Decent enough deals, but everything came with an astonishing amount of sun dried tomatoes. Seems to be aimed at Oxford Street tourists rather than foodies. Service was laughably poor - slow, lacking knowledge and common sense - John Cleese would have found it beyond parody. What should have been a 1 hour lunch took 2 painful hours and I suspect our waiter is still staring at a spoon wondering where it should go, even now.

Great service, unlimited Prosecco was very good. However food was very bland, calamari in a bland tomato sauce, pizza tasted same as the calamari sauce, dessert was just a lump of cream, very sickly

We dined early as we were going to the theatre. We were made very welcome from the outset. The menu is varied and extensive. Although there is a set menu, as this was a special occasion, we chose from the main menu - one chicken and one liver dish. Both were excellent, served piping hot and with nicely cooked veg. Starters were well presented and tasty too. All in all a very pleasant dining experience - we'll be back!!

I visit Stefs Italian Restaurant too infrequently, but of late have been there twice with friends over from Malta (who like their food) and have really enjoyed it.This is a modern lovely restaurant just off of Oxford Street and is always busy lunchtimes or evening; the staff are so friendly and helpful under the watchful eye of Stefano Francioso the owner, you are always greeted with a warm welcome. The menu is varied with classic Italian dishes freshly prepared, on the last occasion we shared a selection of Antipasti on recommendation, especially the Calamari which was cooked to perfection, we each had different main, steaks, veal , chicken and tuna and they were all of exceptionally good quality and the home made deserts were to die for, all washed down with some excellent Gavi di Gavi.A lovely meal amongst friends and a great atmosphere in a very busy Central London restaurant.Whether it be a nice dinner or lunch after shopping I would recommend booking to save disappointment, this is well worth a visit.

The waiter was more concerned about serving us quickly. As soon as one course was over the next course was in front of us. We had a two course and drink offer and when we said two people didn't drink and ordered soft drinks instead, they were charged for the soft drinks.

I've had lunch and dinner here on various occasions and I've always enjoyed their specialties, such as "fegato" (liver) or the Sophia Loren linguine. They also have a nice selection of grapa served at the right temperature. Busy but nice atmosphere - and friendly staff, fast becoming a rarity in London ! A nice tribute to the real Italian cuisine (too often linked to cheap pasta, bad tomato sauce and tasteless pizza).

The location is great. That is the only positive point about this ... restaurant. The food can hardly be called average UK Italian good if there ever was such a definition. What tops it up is the terrible. service. The so called waiter is more interested in his mobile phone than the customers. Getting any kind of attention is close to impossible. Several of the items on the drinks men were also sold out. London has much better alternatives - just find something else.

This was a last minute treat. I spotted the 3 course meal and free flowing prosecco deal and booked it for my mum and I on the day. I ended up being delayed but they were very understanding and pushed the booking time back for us without question. I have been to 'free flowing prosecco' meals before and usually your glass is just topped up when the waitor sees fit; at Stef's the bottle is left on your table for you to fill your glass as you please....AMAZING! Not to mention this bottle is replaced immediately when empty. The food was delicious...I can thoroughly recommend the ham and mushroom pizza (pizza Umbria). Staff were incredibly attentive. The owner (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) and waiter Davede served us and I could not fault them for a second; the perfect balance between professional and friendly. I must finish this on the fact that the music being played in the restaurant was fantastic!

Bought a bottomless bubbles deal here. Had to change the booking time a couple of times no problem. Bought us a bottle of prosseco when we arrived and said drink as much as you like. So good to be able to serve ourselves and not have to ask for more. Our waiter (Davede) was charming attentive and professional. The owner was very hands on really looked after us mussels and pizza umbria were delicious. Would definately recommend.

The staff here were very nice until we asked for the 'deal' menu which we had seen online - two courses and a glass of prosecco for about £16. We didn't get this menu automatically and had to ask for it which I thought was a bit poor. The staff then became a bit lukewarm to us as they clearly didn't think we'd be spending enough. The food was average - I had the pasta which tasted nice but I felt I could have easily made it myself in about 5 minutes and the pizza didn't have enough topping. It was a nicely furnished restaurant though with a good atmosphere. We also thought the dessert was good. Good value for money if you ask for the deal menu ;-)

We picked this one off a website as recommended and close to Dominion Theatre for a show we were going to. We had the two courses plus prosecco for £16.95 each. Very good value. Food was nice and good for the price. I had the mussels and fish of the day, wife had calamari and salmon linguini. All dishes were very nice. Waiters were very pleasant and attentive enough. The restaurant is very close to Oxford Street and a 5-10min walk to the theatre so ideally located. We would definitely go again.
