We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday and it was really good. Food and service was very good. Ambiance is really nice. Additionally the live music makes everything really memorable.

Outstanding service. Food impeccable. Superb atmosphere. Will be going back for a second visit the moment we we get back to London!!

I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a truly extraordinary dining experience.

Fantastic meal this weekend at Bardo St James. Superb food, great service, wonderful setting and excellent overall value for our experience. We went for pre Theatre dinner, and were disappointed to be leaving as the live music was just about to start. We will certainly be back.

Amazing food. The pasta could not be better. Immaculate service. We had the pre theatre menu (wise financial choice) but missed out on the band which would have been a fantastic experience.

If you are looking for fine dining around Buckingham Palace / Trafalgar Square this is your place! Highly recommend! Great for celebrating a birthday or a special occasions. Erg slechte ervaring met het restaurant. Wij hadden een reservering staan en wilde die annuleren vanwege privé omstandigheden. Aantal keer gebeld waar niet op werd gereageerd. Wanneer we eindelijk iemand aan de lijn kregen werd ons verteld dat er 50 pond per persoon zou worden belast voor annuleringskosten omdat het niet 48uur van te voren is geannuleerd. Volgens de mevrouw aan de lijn worden de annuleringsvoorwaarden in de bevestigings mail beschreven. Echter is dit niet goed aangegeven als je de reservering maakt. Wij hadden de reservering een dag van te voren gemaakt. Dit betekent dus dat je eigenlijk niet kan annuleren mocht je binnen die 48 uur reserveren. Het is erg jammer dat je als restaurant zo je geld moet verdienen. Vijftig pond per persoon betekende voor ons dus gewoon 100 pond voor niks! Dit kan echt niet! Erg teleurstellend en een bederving van een vakantie.

We had an early Saturday dinner, pre-theatre.. For two, dining a la carte, with cocktails, wine and afters, the bill came to £450, 15% service charge included. Impressions: .This is a vast restaurant, about 50 tables plus bar area. . This is a basement restaurant, and at the back, one does get an occasional odd whiff. . In the early evening, the restaurant was virtually empty, 4 tables as we arrived at about 17:45, and about 10 by the time we left just after 19:00. . Very mixed clientele, some bling, no distinct vibe. . No specific dress code. We were seated next to a smartly dressed tourist couple on one side, while on another table a young man was dining while wearing a beanie in doors. . Friendly, attentive and competent front of house and waiting staff. . Solid cooking. . Spotless facilities. . Live music after 19:30 (we didn’t have the pleasure). . Some tables are very close to the stage. Do check when booking.

If you are looking for a classy and elegant dining experience then I would highly recommend Bardo. Firstly , the live music was fantastic , the woman singing had a beautiful voice. Another thing to note , all the staff were very professional which contributed to the feeling of a fine dining experience . The restaurant itself is also very classy looking. Food wise , I tried the tartufo Nero, Tagliolini al tartufo and had the ferrero rocher for dessert. I am a big fan of truffle and they really put a lot of black truffle which is great. I do recommend the Ferrero rocher for dessert too as it was delicious and I was a fan of the le vie en rose cocktail. It definitely is an expensive restaurant but is worth it for special occasions.

I can't express how disappointed I am with Bardo's service on Halloween night yesterday. My friends and I had made an online booking through the guestlist system and received an email confirmation, only to be turned away at the door with the excuse that our names were not on the list. This happened in pouring rain, and we weren't alone – there were several others facing the same issue. The blatant disregard for our time and the inconvenience, especially considering we're regular clients, is utterly disrespectful. We trusted the confirmation email, and the club's failure to honor it left us with a ruined night and a bitter taste in our mouths. Such unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is a serious letdown.

My wife and I had dinner in Bardo for a romantic date night. Service was perfect. Food was amazing. I'm not easy to please but Bardo StJames exceeded my expectations. Thank you!

I'm disappointed to write this review. I normally write to a restaurant when I have had an incredible experience. I have only good things to say about the food, it was absolutely incredible. I work in User Experience for Technology so I am very aware of processes, especially when they go bad. My partner and I were at your restaurant a few months back on a on Friday evening for a 7:30 seating. He surprised me with this reservation as honestly, we dont normally do this. My partner has been to your restaurant with some friends back in April. He wanted me to experience what he had, which was lovely. He came with some friends at 8pm and did make it to the dancing club in the end. We ordered some cocktails and a rossa pinsa. He explained to me about the part that becomes a dancing club area and that he wanted us to experience that again because he loved it so much. Then we ordered the rest - a primi and a secondi with a bottle of red wine. Having lived in Italy, I was shocked these came out together. This made us feel rushed but we tried to keep enjoying the evening. We had told them we were sharing the plates when we ordered. Also ordering a bottle of red wine after having a cocktail is very normal especially in fancier restaurants. The wine was £70 so even though it is one of your cheapest bottles, it is not cheap by any means, especially with a ridiculous £50 markup. We then were asked about dessert many times, at least 3. I told the waitress I didnt want dessert until we finished the wine, perfectly reasonable as not all red wine goes with such sweet dessert. She told me she felt the opposite. Thats very odd to me that she said that but of course fine as we all have our preferences. Again feeling rushed here. One of the managers came over to move us to the bar at 9:40 pm. I understand you have this 1 hour 30 minute seating, now as I see it on the website. I did not know then, as I was surprised by this evening. However, what I do not understand is why there can be 3 small tables in view that can fit 2-4 people with no one in them yet we're being asked to move. This is a joke to me. We still had quite a bit of wine left, while these other tables sat empty. I would have understood if each table was being turned over for seated guests immediately. Im no diva, I understand others have reservations. What I dont understand is rushing us out when there is no one to fill them back. You really should be aware of this, I think its quite sad you arent already especially for a restaurant of your quality. We had dinner at a much cheaper restaurant just Saturday night, a lovely Indian restaurant in Hampstead Heath. We had a table of 7, they did not rush the 2 people blocking bringing 2 tables together. As it should be. If you want to fix this, you need to explain to people when they sit down how long they have the table for. Setting expectations is extremely important. My partner believed we could make it to the end because he had a reservation not long after ours. Im quite disappointed. After spending £270, I thought I'd get better treatment but clearly you only care for people who spend much more. The food and the live music was absolutely stunning. So sad we had a really terrible experience that ruined it all. I really wanted to recommend to friends especially for the cacio e pepe but unfortunately I cant. I am now leaving this review because I emailed this message back in June and was told I'd receive some followup. I followed up in July but never got anything more.

I was looking for a restaurant that had a great atmosphere and live music, and this place definitely delivered. The service was exceptional, with the staff being very attentive and keeping a close eye on guests. The food was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the starters. Although it was almost full on a Tuesday night, it did not affect the service at all. The drinks menu is on the expensive side, but that's normal for a restaurant of this caliber.

Dear Bardo Management Team & Luca, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent dining experience at Bardo restaurant. While I understand that issues can arise, I believe it's important to address my concerns from both my previous visit in November 2022 and my more recent one in July 2023. My initial experience at Bardo in November 2022 left a lasting negative impression. It was my mother's birthday, and we had chosen your restaurant to celebrate this special occasion. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worse due to the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff, including the two managers present. Not only did the waiter spill a drink on my mother, but what truly surprised us was his response. Instead of acknowledging the accident and taking responsibility, he shifted blame onto my mother, claiming she was drunk in an attempt to evade consequences. While accidents are understandable, it was disappointing to be charged for both the spilled drink and the replacement one when the waiter had initially assured us that it would be on the house. This left us feeling disheartened and frustrated as we left the restaurant that evening. On a slightly positive note, we were fortunate enough to run into the owner, Luca, who took the time to apologize for the unfortunate incident. He kindly extended an offer for us to return as his guests for another dining experience, providing us with his personal contact information. This gesture gave us hope that Bardo values its customers and strives to correct such mishaps. Taking Luca's offer to heart, I decided to give Bardo another chance and made a reservation for July 2023. I sent several messages to Luca the day before our reservation to confirm the arrangement, but unfortunately, I did not receive any reply. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of honoring promises and ensuring customer satisfaction. It saddens me to see that the commitment made by Luca was not upheld, which ultimately tarnished my perception of Bardo's integrity. I hope you understand the depth of my disappointment and frustration. As a loyal customer, I had looked forward to experiencing the hospitality and professionalism that any reputable restaurant should offer. However, my recent encounter has left me questioning whether my expectations were misplaced. I hope that my feedback is taken constructively and that steps will be taken to rectify such issues in the future. I truly believe that Bardo has the potential to provide exceptional dining experiences, and I hope that my concerns will be addressed to ensure that your customers leave with positive memories and a desire to return.

What makes Bardo special is their staff. Every single staff member that I communicated made us feel very welcome. Wonderful experience from start to finish. I had a reservation for Friday night at 10:30 PM- due to road closures in Marble Arch , I didn’t arrive till 11:30 PM. The staff was so kind and understanding - the kitchen closed at 11 pm but the manager spoke to chef and he offered to make us pasta (since most of the restaurant staff had already left). Pastas were excellent, service was just perfect- all the staff was extremely polite , professional, and friendly. We ended up having a beautiful night thanks to the wonderful manager and staff of Bardo! Thank you so much for being so accommodating - I will definitely come back next time I’m in town! Highly recommend - book a table during their live entertainment (7 -10 pm on weeknights & 7:30-11 on weekends)!

We have dined alot so we understand the 2h seating time. The waiter would usually tell us upfront, and we respect it. We order drinks like like we always do and enjoy the drink over conversation and discussion of food options. After our waiter asked us a few times for our food options, I said we would do it once the drink is done and not to worry we would be out way before 2h. He then said that food takes a while and would appreciate us ordering. I was not even 2 sips into drink. So in frustration we ordered and food arrived in 15 minutes? So I did not even have time to finish my dri nk and order wine. We finished our meals with the cocktail and we were done in 45 minutes. In all of our dining experiences, I never experienced such unprofessional service.

I had my 30th birthday party in this restaurant and everything was organized perfectly. My guests and I enjoyed the live music and the atmosphere. The staff was great as well and they treated us perfectly all night. Excellent quality of the food as well.
