The design of the store matches the location. There is a bit dated furniture, but everything is clean. The snacks there are totally fine. The view of the lake is of course very beautiful.

Terrible service. Waited behind two guys in a queue who were waiting for ages to be serviced at till. Turns out there was only 1 person working with perhaps 1 in the back kitchen but he was "too busy" making sure menus were all straight on all tables and did mundane tasks that could have very well waited until he dealt with about to be paying customers. STUPID set up there as well. You're asked what table number you will take before you even know where you'd sit. It isn't a large cafe. They could easily see where we'd be sitting without having to pressure all customers to choose a table quickly before even asking what they'd like to order. Really, really dumb set-up. Coffee is mediocre. And I wouldn't bother with the lorne sausage rolls. Oh, and seriously RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Both lattés and two lorne sausage rolls (single bit of meat in a roll) came to sixteen bloody quid. Absolutely outrageous. Wouldn't bother coming. No atmosphere. Weird setup. Overpriced food items on menu. Not great tasting. Poor service. Only good thing about this place was the scenery if you get a table by window. Don't waste your time, folks!

Not greeted at all on arrival, felt like a time warp to the 1970s. Interior not updated in forever, plastic flowers. Menu options uninspiring and all appear to be from frozen and made from cheap ingredients. Awful cold stale pie, cheese scone that tasted of little but bicarb. Oat milk only available on the side so I assume all hot drinks are made by a machine? Staff seem uninterested in anything besides hoovering their carpet. We were there long before closing and they were hoovering one table over from us. I ordered soup, they totally forgot and didn’t apologise when I went to enquire about its whereabouts. Just not worth your time, has such potential in such lovely location. Definitely recommend the new viewpoint but avoid the cafe. Bring your own flask and a tea cake.

Poor Scottish catering! Unpleasant soup. Toastie I am pretty sure was pre toasted bread with plastic ham and cheese stuck in it warmed in microwave. Overpriced . Not happy with myself for not complaining at that time. Very poor compared to good standards elsewhere.

Afternoon tea+ cruise for two with Wowcher. The cafe had a nice outlook and atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient. Afternoon tea consisted of mixed sandwiches (ham & tomato, cheese, + coronation chicken) which were a little dry but ok. Then two x small scones with jam & cream and another layer with two small cupcakes, mini eclairs and a very small square of chocolate cake between the two of us. Two separate pots if tea. It was all perfectly acceptable but nothing to rave about.

My son bought a Wowcher experience / cruise and high tea. But their number is permanently engaged - so can’t get through to book / they seem to be on every “deal” going, but feels like a scam if you can’t book - my advice vs is don’t bother!

Visited the cafe on 29/10/23 and must say excellent service and banter from staff couldn't fault them in any way definitely go above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience but do think the food presentation/options could be better on saying that I will still return at least for the banter and service if nothing eles.

Coffee tastes like old boots. Atmosphere is akin to god's waiting room. Cheesy chips were disappointing, unmelted, uninspiring cheese sat on top of McCains oven finest.

I was out with the family today, 15/10/2023 for a walk and went to have lunch to the cafe around 15:30. As I entered, holding one baby in my arms and my girl by my side (as the lift was not working my husband went to put the buggy in the car) two ladies were clearing dishes from tables. They did not welcome us at all. I went in looked around to see whether I can find a high chair and as I couldn’t see any I went back to those ladies which even at that point they did not pay any attention as if I was invisible. I waited thinking they will atleast look at me which they did not so I asked whether I can get a high chair. Then one of them looked around and pointed me one! So I walked thinking that she will come to help me to get it as it was under a table which with one hand I couldn’t take. But when I looked back to see whether anyone is coming there was none. They were just chatting and doing their work. I was very much surprised to see their gesture. I was standing helplessly at the table which I was planing to take and was looking back at them. One lady saw me and was not willing to come. I kept looking at them in surprise then unwillingly she went and got me the high chair. By then I was very upset by the attitude and behavior of those ladies but still I thanked her. Then my husband arrived and I’ve told him what happened. He went to the counter to order food and the guy wasn’t very much knowledgeable in what he should do The same guy served us food, he was atleast polite and nice. While having food we saw how those same ladies were attending another couple with a baby and how attentively she got a baby chair for them and cleaned it thoroughly. She was being so nice to that couple and the baby and was saying hello, smiling and waving. This is pure racism! We are Asians and the other couple was also of biracial couple. Later we noticed by their conversations the rude lady is the mother of the guy who served us. That lady kept on eating and with mouthful instructing her son whom yo give what. she kept on eating and walking which was disgusting to see! No manners at all! These kind of people should not be placed to welcome or interact with guests in such a lovely place. Those two ladies just ruined our experience! If you view the cameras you will exactly see what happened. Date 15/10/2023 Time 15:30hrs

The Steamship Cafe is an excellent place to spend your time when waiting for the steamship or starting and ending a walk at Loch Katerine. There is plenty of parking. There are plenty of toilets on the other side of the parking place. The elevated location of the cafe gives you an excellent view on the harbour, mountains, and the lake. I can recommend the Soup of the house which was in my case a tasty pea soup.

6 of us visited here without a reservation after a boat trip on the Loch this week. We were pleased to get a table. Menu looked decent for a cafe, my wife and I both chose the soup and sandwich combo - fine. However, the rest of our party ordered pizza. If overcooked frozen pizza is for you then this is the place to come. The table behind us were served a pizza which one half was almost black - I couldn't believe what was worse, the fact that the girl came out of the kitchen and dished it out or the fact that the customer sitting there said nothing. The man who was on the till taking our order later came out and cleared lots of tables of plates of half-eaten pizza. That surely should send a message!!

I don’t know if this place has changed hands but it used to have lovely food and happy staff! Food has gone seriously down hill … frozen pizza and rude staff are what’s served up these days … the soup was tinned and served with bread and cheese with no effort what’s so ever …very disappointed.

We stopped by here for a quick lunch before cycling around the Loch and also after for a snack. The staff were super friendly and the prices were alright. There was a decent selection of drinks though there was no beer on tap. The food however was very hit and miss so -1 star. The Ham & Cheese toastie was great, but the Coronation Chicken toastie has zero taste. The pizza was mediocre but the Raspberry Ripple was out of this world. The outside area was very nice and let's face it, it's the only place you can buy drinks and food here, so have a seat - it's pretty good.

An amazing day to be had here. Had a wonderful day today. Starting off with the Cruise around the Loch onboard Rob Roy III. Amazing scenery so beautiful and breathtaking. Then up to The Steamship Cafe for the Afternoon Tea. Which was delightful. The staff were excellent. The views up there were amazing and peaceful. I was last here when I was a child. It was so good to be back today. Will definitely come back. To experience the wonder again. The free WiFi was also great. The Toilet facilities were great too. We saw new facilities were under construction.

I love to visit the Steamship Cafe but unfortunately today I was a bit dissapointed. I ordered sandwiches and tea, and to be honest the sandwiches were not great. I also feel that the cafe is lacking a bit in its food selection. It was quite busy when we were there and I couldn't fault the service. Staff were friendly and the food didn't take long to arrive. It was just a shame about the lack of options and the quality.

Cafe was nice inside with nice views but the afternoon tea sandwiches weren’t great. Cheap bread & meat with only one veggie option (1/4 of an egg sandwich between 3 people) - not great with one of the party being veggie meaning they didn’t get to enjoy it. Sandwich fillings left a lot to be desired (formed chicken slices & lettuce, formed beef slices, chicken/tuna Mayo). Would have preferred to select our own preferences as we left some to waste. Cakes were ok but weren’t 1 each just a little mix of whatever must have been left in the cafe. The scones were ok but overall was pretty disappointing. No allergen info asked for on booking - not sure if this is something the café provide info on normally but wasn’t on the itison booking or requested on booking over the phone.

Lovely people, great views, very, very good prices, and solid food The services was wonderful, very friendly, they even put more wood on the fire when they could see we were cold It’s a nice place to be in and the food was good for a cafe. The soup was delicious The pricing was ridiculously cheap, especially as there is no competition in the area and they could charge whatever they want 2 teas, soup of the day with lots of bread and butter and a cheese toastie was less than £17 Bathrooms were also clean A welcome place after a walk around the Loch

Last Friday (16 October) I made a detour of a few miles on my way to work to grab a coffee from the café, after having checked the timetable on Google to make sure it's open. It said online it was opening at 09:00, yet when I arrived at 09:25 the doors were closed (yet the lights were on upstairs). I understand if you had restricted hours due to the pandemic etc. etc. however there is no excuse not updating them on Google.

View from outdoor seats is fantastic.... but food less so. Ordered poached eggs for £7 and got two slices of cheapest supermarket bread and eggs, nothing else... unless you count the healthy portion of vinegar water that turned the lower slice of toast to a soggy mush. And the soup was seemed like from a cheap though advertised as home made. Come on Scotland its not the 1980’s anymore!

Went in to get a coffee . This is the first and last timebi will go here. Stood at the counter waiting to be served. 2 members of staff stood over in the seating area chatting. They looked over to see me waiting and carried on chatting and laughing. After 5 minutes I decided to leave. I go to Costa daily and never experienced this before . Customer service clearly doesn't exist here.

We were going to sit in this evening after the Lantern Tour but the staff members in the cafe were rude. Advertising online to sit in after the tour but more than half the seats are blocked off? Staff clearly weren't wanting the work of serving customers or cleaning the tables. When asking about getting a seat we were told "Good luck with that".
