We've been going to the East India on an occasional but regular basis ever since we met over twenty years ago, and have never been disappointed. Food, service, atmosphere and general presentation have always impressed us. Most recently we were there a couple of weeks ago, and had the usual, and now expected, high quality experience; the more so as they're now doing a very good value package for two, including starters, main courses and accompaniments. Unfortunately there weren't many other folk there, which is a real shame. I know it's a bit out of the city centre and doesn't have a prominent facade, but this place is worth checking out. We'll certainly be back.

I have eaten at this Indian for almost a year and it has always been amazing but it has recently (in the past two weeks) come under new management/ownership. I ordered a takeaway, it took well over an hour to arrive, the rice was over cooked, the curries were watery, the peshwari naans were disgusting, the chicken tikka meat was not tikka (it tasted as though it had come out of a can) and the "lamb" was very suspiciously closer to mooing rather than baaing! It's a shame that it has changed hands because this really was a top notch restaurant sadly however it was an utter disappointment and I have been left hungry and out of pocket by £35. Do not go.

Decided to go here for a curry after a friend recommended it. It was great! The inside is like a hidden treasure. The vibe is kind of cosy and romantic with a touch of old fashioned class. The food was good and the staff were really nice. I had a chicken tikka masala and my boyfriend had a chicken bhuna they were both tasty and the nan was nice and garlicky! Will defo be going back.

We waited ages to order despite the restaurant being practically empty. But the increasingly loud drilling noises kept us entertained. The poppadoms were a bit stale. The starters were average but, with hindsight turned out to be one of the best bits. The rice arrived well after the main dishes were brought to the table (and after we'd asked for it again). The Lamb Jaipuri was really nice, tender meat and lots of flavour. But the Chicken Jalfrezi and Ceylonese Korma were shocking - the worst meals we've ever been served with in a restaurant - lukewarm, bland and actually tasting 'off'. When asked whether we were enjoying our meal, we were politely truthful. Having been asked to name other places where I had eaten Jalfrezis, we were offered an alternative, which we declined. The red wine was watery and had a stale taste. We were not charged for the unsatisfactory main courses. We will not be going back. Ever.

Practicality drew me to the East India Company for dinner: they were open. It was a Sunday night and I'd struck out with a couple of pubs that weren't serving meals of the solid variety, but the East India Company was, and I was very glad of it. The food was all very good, especially the Lamb Curry, and the service was friendly and quick. If you're in the mood for the cuisine, it's well worth your time.

1st 2 choices unavailable & the waiter wants to debate my 3rd choice! He brings my friend a creamy Korma... Nothing like the dish he ordered. Beer watery! Only 6 people in the place on a Saturday night & the one waiter couldn't cope as he kept arguing peoples choices. This place is hopeless.

Restaurant is under a rude manger .I ate here in early April and again in may, its just an average Joe! they claim the place has been refurbished recently, however, there is many broken tiles and tacky finishes viewable all around the restaurant. the food and service was very bad! not to great on portions either. I bought 2 portions of rice and it looked like I was given 1 and had to buy more! not great for drinks pricing either, I planned on eating dessert but cancelled as my wallet was already hurting. I would be keen to find other places for eating out as there are many around with no cockroaches with glasses and long hair like a lady gaga...where the manger does not charge 3pounds for services.

The meal was fabulous - fresh and so moorish! Best curry we have had in a very long time. The only thing that lets this place down is some of the staff - they really don't want to be there, don't want to be serving you and as a result you feel uncomfortable. The manager, however, was very welcoming and informative.

I have been going to this place for over 10 years now - at an increasingly infrequent rate. It started out as my favourite in Stirling but the quality of the food has been doing downhill for years. It is rarely filled these days. I think it is in a spiral of decline. The last straw was the last time we were there - in September 2010. The food was mediocre and the fruit garnish on my daughter's dessert was rotting. The dish was returned and we were not charged for it. However, what does it tell you about a restaurant that doesn't notice it is putting green, rotting fruit on top of ice cream? It is a very sad case indeed.

I visited this restaurant with my friend and we were both very surprised. The layout is very beautiful ,mixed with dark woods a beautiful fireplace and lovely painting,s surrounding the walls. It was not the usual look of what you might expect and we thought it was lovely .Fresh linen napkins wrapped in tartan bows and crystal glasses.Lisa was very welcoming and attentive and made us feel at home. The menu was really nice and our food and service was excellent.AS i own a guest house in Stirling i would certainly highly recommend this restaurant to friends and to staying guests and i would certainly go back as i thought all was lovely. It has a lovely traditional feel to it , and different.

Truly awuful, if you ask me STAY AWAY from this dive and take any review that you have read with a pinch of salt. It is a squalid, smelly and dilapidated place. Which reflects on most importantly the food and customer service not forgetting to mention the staff who look like they are escapees from the nearest mental asylum and can barely string two words together. NOT for the curry connoisseur.

Well I have visited nearly all the indian restaurants in the city centre of Stirling because i have a indian once a week and East India Company was simply the best so from now on there is no need for me to find the best in Stirling because i;ve already found it. The reason being the decor is just amazing its not too big but its cosy and if you need space they have a function suite upstairs i have booked a party there for my cousin and when i viewed it i was impressed because it was free to hire!!! But best of all is the food its traditional well presented and simple in a good way each dish has its character and can be tailored to you tase i.e how spicey you want it. So i would recommend this place to everyone because of the amazing sevice, decor and food well and the special offers on the takeaway menu!!!

Solid choice for a quick bite of Indian cuisine. Food is cooked fresh upon ordering, and I’ve never had anything bad from there.
