On a rainy midweek day in October it was good to visit Ferrers and have lunch at the cafe. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty and very filling. If you want a lunch or just a cuppa and a piece of cake you won’t go wrong here.

Oh no - we now have to suffer smelly wet dogs while we dine. Create an outside covered area eh for owners and dogs as thats why they are dogwalking - in the outdoors. Your beautiful refurbed interior will soon become dirty if it continues. Not all diners want dogs next to them. By the way - I like dogs!

What a lovely spot for brunch. Staff were amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. We had full breakfasts, english and veggie, the food was delicious and all good portions. When ordering and paying the cashier must have overheard our discussion on who was paying as one of our party was celebrating a birthday. Towards the end of our meal the manager brought over a piece of cake and two large pots of tea to share. What a kind and wonderful gesture that left us '50 somethings' all smiling. Sunshine on a rainy day, we will return. Thank you.

Visited Staunton tearoom today for lunch with a friend and find it hard to express how so disappointed we were with the pathetic sandwich we were given. Both of us had cheese sandwich and soft drink. The sandwich arrived in a bowl on a bed of rocket, it comprised a margarine covering accompanied by what appears to be a craft cheese slice, as you will see from the photos. I was charged £21 for this offering. Staff offered to grate us some extra cheese on the sandwich! Come on Staunton Tea Rooms you need to up your game. A few crisps, proper cheese and a slice of Cucumber and tomato would have been nice and even maybe a teaspoon of coleslaw 🫣

The Stables is much more than a coffee shop, even though the coffee is delicious. We have visited before, and we have always enjoyed the refreshments on offer. I haven't written a review before, but I decided to today because our experience was so good. The Stables was very busy, but we still experienced the usual friendly and efficient service. The atmosphere was brilliant and our lunch was amazing. It is a real treat to visit The Stables. Everyone is made welcome, including dogs who were all very well behaved. There are tables inside and outside at this very popular venue. I highly recommend it.

We had lunch here the other day with our daughter after looking around the garden centre and it was a very enjoyable experience. It was a bitter cold day and it was very warm inside when we entered and it was good that it was also dog friendly. The menu was extensive without being overwhelming. My wife and daughter both had the posh fish butty and I had the bacon and Brie toasty and we all 3 thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was attentive and quick but we didn’t feel rushed at all and we will certainly return again when in the area.

My Mum and I visited here and sat in the courtyard in the shade under an umbrella on a very warm day. We shared a warm sausage roll, both had a slice of raspberry and pistachio frangipani, a tea and a vanilla milkshake. All of it was excellent. The cake was amazing and there was lots to choose from too. The people serving us were really nice and chatty. We’ll definitely be adding this to our list of cafes to return to frequently. The surroundings are also really nice within the Ferrers Centre with a mix of shops from an artists shop, deli and a Victorian model workshop (which is definitely worth a visit especially if you have children) among others. There are wonderful walks to go on around here too either around the house or through the wooded area opposite the car park. There’s also a garden nursery here so there’s plenty to do. We’re looking forward to visiting the cafe again to try a different cake next time.

Sat outside in lovely courtyard area. I ordered as only one allowed in at a time. I ordered Quiche for myself and a sausage ciabatta for my husband both with lattes. These had to be takeaways due to the lock down however the weather was lovely and we were happy to sit outside. The latte was actually the nicest I have had in a while. What shocked us and has lost marks, is the fact that my husband and I commented on the reasonable price as we were deciding what we wanted to order. Half way through our lunch and with a queue waiting to be served, a chap came out from the restaurant, took down the price sign then brought it back 10 minutes later with many of the food items increased in price by 30p. It felt a little off watching this happen.

This is a lovely cafe with tasty, home made food and cakes and friendly staff. It is well organised to make you feel safe during the Covid pandemic. Only one customer is allowed inside at a time and all the seating is now outside. It's such a pretty courtyard to sit out in and they have shelters for the sun so a lovely place to visit. I dropped in for a snack lunch. It was midweek and the middle of February, and the place was at least 3/4 full. I think that tells you that it's popular, and for good reason. I had a cheese & tomato toastie, which was generously filled and served with a small salad accompaniment. My tea for one was enough for at least 2 cups. The meal was served with a smile!

The service is good but we have been twice recently and the food has deteriorated. Tasteless and unappetising. Even the ( expensive ) filter coffee wasn't great. A group of us went down to the Ferrers Centre at Staunton Harold on Mothers Day. We knew it was going to be busy but even later into the afternoon it was packed. I cleared a table outside and took everything back to the counter on the tray. People weren't moving out of the way and no one seemed to be grateful that I had done their job for them!!! The problem we have is that they don't cater for people who don't have cows milk. I asked and was told they only had Soya milk in the little plastic pots which just isn't good enough. They really need to get with the times.

From the outside it appears to be a pleasant place to eat in very desirable location! However as soon as you enter you're greeted by extremely miserable and rude staff who are nowhere near attentive. Then you notice the absolutely extortionate prices for food that is barely basic or even acceptable to serve in such a nice area. So after seeing the prices of the food we only purchased a brownie for 1.90. We sat outside in a nice courtyard and started to tuck into our brownies, we were disgusted to discover it wasn't even cooked! Both being GCSEs food technology students we knew this was not how a brownie should be, they may as well have handed us the brownie mix. Every time I come here I'm disappointed and it's safe to say this will be the last time! Disgusting

Had a lovely lunch in nice surroundings, served by friendly, cheerful staff. We found the round backed chairs uncomfortable and troublesome. There was an older guy in the kitchen whistling lots, sure he was cheerful but it was rather ear shattering! The staff tend to put three tea bags in a pot of tea which makes it too strong, two is plenty guys and you'd save some money. Unlike lots of places, we loved that a pot of hot water is also given without asking. So some more comfy chairs, ask the chap in kitchen to curb the shrill sounds (they play music too so he was competing with that!) and fewer tea bags, it would be spot on! The cakes were yummy too!!

Just been to Calke Abbey & decided to take a stop off on the way home. Set in a courtyard with a few other little shops it was a nice place to put our feet up for a brew and some cake. Ate inside, friendly staff, clean and tidy and what we had tasted pretty good, so can't complain on that front. Also noticed they do hot food though we didn't sample it.Tea rooms are tea rooms, much of a muchness to me this one was. Didn't stand out as spectacular but a nice place to stop for refreshments. Would pop back again.

Part of a circular dog walking route and I try to plan this as a mid walk refreshment stop. Dogs welcome and a fabulous selection of art and craft outlets to find the perfect gift or little treat.

It fits the bill if you are at Staunton Harold and the food is good and the prices are pretty comparable with similar venues.

Called in after a walk round Staunton and Calke Park. Food was quick, fresh and good value for money. Staff were fine but the attractive young lady with glasses who works in the kitchen always looks so sad? We'll certainly visit the Stables tearoom again.

Called here for a drink after our walk. Was tempted by the cakes. My choice of Bakewell Tart didn't disappoint, it was delicious. Coffee and Tea both good and great prices. Will certainly be back again soon.

Having eaten at Staunton Stables Tea Room for over 25 years and very regularly in the last 10 years, we feel very fortunate to have found such a lovely venue for our lunch after a walk around Calke Abbey and Staunton Harold.Despite being extremely busy at times, the proprietors Michael and Alison and their hard working staff are always welcoming. My favourite meal is their Shepherd's pie which is consistently outstanding and served with a warm crusty roll and fresh crisp salad. My wife thinks their spicy chilli con carne served with rice, salad and mango chutney is the best she has tasted. We also like the Staunton platters. The tea Room is set in a lovely courtyard, full of character in the beautiful grounds of Staunton Harold.Chris & Meryl from Derby

After visiting the garden centre and walking around Staunton Harold this is a great place for a coffee or hot chocolate. Although we have not eaten here, the food looks very good = great service

The tea rooms are in the most beautiful setting, a lovely little court yard with interesting shops. I have visited the tea room on a fair few occasions over the past few years and while the food itself is generally fine the staff here really let this place down. They are unwelcoming and disinterested. No smiles, a mere hello was a struggle. This place really could be something special.

Great food and very attentive service in this small-town pub. You took great care of us when we visited. Very convenient to Breedon Hall across the street.

The Priest House has so much potential. Its location is lovely, situated by a river and the buildings are lovely. However, this is a very tired hotel, both inside and out. The exterior paint is peeling, the outdoor communal areas around The Cottage where we stayed were so dirty and unkempt and the exterior of this building was grubby too. The room was at least clean and plenty roomy, but the radiator was on full blast and it was a 23° sunny day. It couldn’t be turned down or off. The service in the restaurant was very slow and the food overpriced for the tiny portions. The constant drone all night of the aircraft flying into East Midlands airport was very noisy. It’s all a bit of a shame, as this place has bags of potential. Sadly, we wouldn’t come back again.

We had a festive catchup with friends on 16th December. Lovely time. Chris looked after us so well, perfect host and everything was lovely. Brunch was delicious, recommend the open sandwiches. We look forward to visiting again with friends. All the best with the refurb and heres to XII being a huge success. Merry Christmas 🎄
