Station Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham

We often use the station of a Friday lunchtime and have never had a problem. We work across the way and popped over today to grab some food. We were originally told it would be a half hour wait which is fine. After 50 minutes we asked how long it would be to be told by a very patronising "Alex" behind the bar that it wouldn't be long. After a further 20 minutes we left after a very patronising Alex proceeded to offer no help and was VERY RUDE. STAY AWAY

Usually we don't have a problem on a Friday dinner time - we ordered and food didn't arrive even after an hour, bearing in mind we all had to get back to the office. In the midst of waiting, the customer service from Alex was absolutely shocking - no consideration or compassion in relation to the wait, just a constant patronising response to everything. Then talking to other customers and people about us. Shocking service, staff members need to learn basic customer service.

We came into The Station at 12pm and ordered food, we were still sat there at 1:15 pm waiting for food. We asked what the hold up was for, and Alex said that the food hadn’t started cooking yet as they had a delivery. A group came in at the same time as us, and had their food within 20 minutes. Alex was very condescending and patronising, and acted very unprofessionally. She then started to insult us to another customer, and carried on laughing when we asked for a refund. The manager then came over and wasn’t any help, he just nodded his head and said it would be a further 30 minute wait. We had to ask for a refund and leave. Almost a 2 hour wait for food, and terrible service, as well as being patronised and spoken down to. Awful.

Family meal, 14 of us crammed onto two tables barely room for 10 max. Some eating off laps because of this. Buritto bowl with beef was small portion with hardly any beef, really disappointed. One guy trying to bring meals out for 14 so inevitable wait to start eating and the last 3 meals really slow to arrive. Great pub for drinking and Sport but certainly wouldn’t recommend for a family meal.

Niamh was a good host, we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Customer service wqs excellent, would recommend the bottomless brunch… great value for money And great staff/experience all round. Would recommend 👍

Booked a bottomless brunch for my moms birthday - we were hosted by Niamh & Milly and they were amazing. Very accommodating and friendly and made us all feel at ease. Great service and can’t wait to attend again!

Nice decoration in the theme of a station. The garden was also relaxing. However at £4.15 for a pint of Lemonade and Lime it was a tad expensive!

Ordered from the meal deal lunch time , freshly made pizza and glass of vino ,£8.00 , what a bargain, fantastic home made pizza couldn't fault it, staff friendly, great atmosphere , happy to bring my bicycle through ,what's not to love

I am appalled by the treatment my friend received at this bar. Despite being a person of colour and presenting three valid forms of ID, they were denied entry by the ginger bar man at the door. He unfairly claimed the IDs didn’t match their appearance. This blatant discrimination based on race is absolutely unacceptable. It’s disgraceful that in this day and age, such behaviour still exists. I urge everyone to think twice before supporting a place that condones such discriminatory practices.

As an old timer and life long bar tender said to me "If the bar staff are asking 'Who's next?'...you know you are in for a long wait." Unfortunately this place has an ongoing problem with decent staff. Nothing personal but the service here is absolutely atrocious and it has been like this for years. If there is a more than 10 people in the pub the bar staff become clueless. They just cannot multitask. You are more likely to get into an argument with other impatient punters trying to get a drink in a timely manner. Maybe it's a devious ploy to make sure nobody gets drunk - make it so painful and drawn out to get a drink that you just give up and go somewhere else. Well, it works.

8 of us went for a bottomless brunch for a friend’s 40th birthday on a wet and miserable bank hol afternoon. I believe we were served by Ellen, as well as others - staff could not have been more accommodating, they ensured the drinks were non-stop, kept them coming and offered complimentary drinks in addition to our 2 hour brunch and we didn’t feel rushed or pressured to leave the table even after our 2 slot had ended The food was delicious, usually food at other BB’s is sub standard but everyone’s meals were a good size and really tasty. Your staff are an asset, can’t thank them enough

Nice pub, not too far away from Sutton Town centre. A nice atmosphere and we went on a Monday evening, when it was much quieter. We'd definitely go again. Play some rock music though too!

We were here a group of 4 in may 2024 for the bottomless brunch. It was fantastic value much better than others as you didn’t need to upgrade to better cocktails they were sooo good. Big shout out to Mia and Naeve for there service fantastic ladies thank you. Food great also we will 100% be returning.

Went for the bottomless brunch, Niamh was fantastic. Constantly checked to make sure we were ok and never let our drinks run out. Will definitely be back!

Popped in for a nostalgic visit. Great beer as ever. Food was very tempting.

Not what it was, beer is very expensive and it's full of kids with fake I.D. To top it off they make people queue up to get in a half empty pub! Update, improving and hopefully they can get back where they were before it became coke heaven for school kids.

Recently moved to Sutton Coldfield, stumbled across this venue right next to the station. Amazing pub for sports and has a DJ on the weekends. The staff are super friendly here, so I will definitely be coming back!

Limited menu with Good Food, at a fair price, including Chicken Wings & Vegan Cauliflower Wings, which are excellent. Has live entertainment inside, & has a stage outside at the back. Wednesday nights has live entertainment, & Andy Bennett formerly of Ocean Colour Scene performs alternate Wednesday nights. Well worth a visit to watch Andy Bennett & a Bucket of Wings.

Incredible pint of Guinness. The best around by far. One for the Guinness lovers for sure! Atmosphere never fails to deliver either. Looking forward to the next visit!

We had the best time ever today! Thank you so much for making our day special! The food was unreal and I couldn’t eat it all I had a pizza and it was better than dominoes! And the waitress that was looking after us Niamh asked me if I wanted to take the rest of it home and she arranged that! She was so attentive to us and to the other people that were there to experience their day. We will definitely be coming back soon and Niamh needs to be recognised for her outstanding service! Had lunch here for the first time with friends, and enjoyed it. Was quite busy but it was Saturday afternoon so expected.

Dek and Charlotte are so so lovely, they looked after me when i got in a bit of a state. Genuinely the loveliest bouncers ever couldn’t recommend more.

The bouncers don’t like you to have a good time, despite having a DJ. They told us to calm down our singing which was very calm to begin with.. so do not come here if you are looking for a good time.

Great pub but awful food. Amazing venue with a great atmosphere but every time I’ve eaten here the food had been low quality, over fried and below average.

This place has seriously gone down hill, used to have great live music, now it's filled with 20 year old chavs in North face.

We had bottomless brunch here after new year and it was fantastic value! Service was very attentive and the food was delicious, big portions also. You could level up your drinks for an extra £5 which was worth out of you like cocktails or spirits. Staff are lovely, the pub is what a pub should look like and the food is amazing. All good with the pub and staff,but one nutcase wondering around trying his best to start an argument with just about anyone made me cut my stay short,either drunk or maybe mentally ill..not sure but my friend andi left before someone was hurt or arrested. Mid afternoon 28th Dec

One of the best pubs in Sutton Coldfield town centre. Great outdoor area with ample seating and 4 maybe 5 Booths available for groups of 2 / 6. Great atmosphere. Good food, good choice of beers, good service. Located right outside Sutton Coldfield train station.

Sat outside with a few friends and couldn't hear a word anyone was saying due to the ridiculous nusic volume. I'm no fuddy duddy and go to rock concerts at least a dozen or more times a year, but this place was just impossible to socialise in. Shame, it's really good in all other respects.

Came to the station as I’ve heard much about it being from London but having Sutton Coldfield friends! Amazing in every way! The bartender Martin was amazing served me drinks efficiently and had a great chat with him! Definitely will return.

Pretty dope venue not gonna lie. Like, it may be pricey but you're paying for quality. And when it comes to service, forget about it! This whole team absolutely smashes it. They look after all their customers with efficiency, ease and with a smile. Their speed of service is unmatched in this industry. The staff at The Station re-define the pub and hospitality experience and set the bar while they're at it. The food looks good, tastes good and I should know because I eat a lot of it. The atmosphere is chill. Could do with a face lift but it yields an authentic and old timey charm that will do for now, until the inevitable and exciting changes it could make. In summary: The Station Pub is the best venue in Sutton Coldfield. Objectively. The staff? Best team in Birmingham. Objectively. Tom should be proud.

Been Coming to the station every week for at least 15 year now! the selection of beers and spirits are great especially the hazy Jane guava (do not get rid!) and the staff are always friendly especially Joel! Definitely my favourite Sutton pub

Sadly I can't award any stars for indoors as we never managed to go in. As four elderly people we decided to have a celebratory drink after the ELO Encounter gig at Sutton Town Hall. Both ladies had handbags and we men had our small shoulder bags. Mine is not dissimilar to my wife's. Three security doorman were standing outside. Two against the wall. As we tried to enter one of the doormen stated very abruptly "You can't go in with a pouch. It's against the dress code." We replied that they were shoulder bags. "You can't go in with pouches, end of discussion." One of the ladies offered them to be searched. The doormen were not interested. If ladies are allowed in with handbags, then this is discriminatory practice if men aren't allowed to with their bags. The dress code notice was revealed pinned to the wall when one of the other doorman moved. What I really objected to was being spoken to as if I was a truculent youth or young person without a "sorry" or "I'm afraid you can't". There's a difference between a pouch wearing teenager or 20/30 year old and a 69 and 74 year old man carrying a small shoulder bag in terms of threat to distribute contraband, as the doormen would have discovered if they'd have searched our bags. Three doormen, two bags? I've never been in The Station and now I never will. In this time of pub closures the Pub Chain Management who own The Station might consider their dress codes and the personability of their security staff.

This pub has such a lovely and lively atmosphere! My server Scarlet helped me to decide the tastiest wine 😋 there was such a selection!

The burgers were good, however the mac and cheese side was outrageous, they charged me £4 pounds for no more than 3 scoops of mac and cheese.

I have been going to this pub for years now, every time I go on a weekend there are bouncers who are incredibly rude. There is one in particular with a beard who had no consideration for my ADHD as I have the tenancy to zone out which he took as me being rude towards him to which I apologised but he wouldn't understand. This is not the first time that he has refused entry over literally nothing, as I come here so much it is irritating to see such a display of utter arrogance. I will happily go somewhere in the future if I want a drink.
