Amazing food everything was perfect would highly recommend. The hospitality was great they explained us the menu and made sure we get what we wanted exactly. The food was very tasty, me and my family loved it. It was the best fish and chips we had by far. Would definitely be back.

I have been going here for well over 10 years now. The fish is always cooked to order, and very fresh, with crispy batter. Jack and the girls are always super friendly, and really make you feel valued. I have given every other local chippy (including McDermotts) a good try, but keep coming back here, as they are consistently the best. A couple of points to note: 1. They take telephone orders, but don't do delivery. 2. Cash payments only. If you don't have cash, there is a free cash till in The Wine Cellar next door. 3. Try and avoid going between 6pm and 7pm if possible: because everthing is cooked to order they can get VERY busy, with queues and wait times of up to 30 minutes. An hour later you can generally walk straight in. 4. They are not the cheapest chippy around, but you very much get what you pay for, both in terms of quality and portion size.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of fish and service. Ordered a large piece of plaice which was dry and thin. Barely any fish covered in greasy batter. They forgot to put an item in my order an item in my order so I had to go back to collect it. Told it would be 10 minutes on the phone but on arrival I had to wait another 10 minutes. Not sure whether I will be visiting again

They forgot my order and made us wait outside for nearly 30 minutes. I asked where my order was because people who ordered 20 minutes after us got served while we were still waiting, and a staff member started shouting at me. I eventually got my order, but the food was completely cold (I live 3 minutes drive from the shop). I believe the order was sitting on the site the whole time we were waiting. I just wanted to treat my family to fish and chips for dinner, and that experience completely ruined my Saturday night.

I have visited many seaside towns across the UK and I have to say the fish & chips from this establishment is right up there with the very best. The fish is cooked fresh each time and the portions are big and good value. This is a great place to get good quality fish & chips.

This is a standard chippie-nothing more, nothing less. Everything is quite acceptable, fish is cooked to order and service is efficient. Fish quality is good, chips are soggy and mushy peas have a strangely metallic taste. It’s a perfectly adequate neighbourhood place-won’t set the world on fire, but ok for the occasional fish and chip supper. I have certainly had much better fish and chips elsewhere.

My wife stumbled across this chippy one lunchtime when visiting a nearby shop, brought home F&C and we both thought it was the best we had had for ages - lovely fish, crispy batter, not greasy, chips perfect. Just had some friends over for a "chippy tea" in the garden. Ordered earlier in the day to be picked up. Ready as ordered. Everyone more than happy with our selections: cod, plaice, haddock, chips, peas, curry sauce. By "large" they are not kidding - my plaice was huge (and I can eat!), and large chips is a really good portion. Decent price, friendly staff, highly recommended. Only minor point against is - cash only. Also, no online facility either their own or via a 3rd party eg Just Eat so we had to go there in advance to place an order for later collection. However - we will be back, and recommend you try them too.

I've been living in and around London for over 30 years and was always complaining that the fish and chips were not as good as in the midlands. That was until I found Station fish bar - the fish is cooked fresh to order and it tastes amazing. The staff are so lovely and friendly - really a great find for me. Would highly recommend.

Decided to try this place for a change - and when I arrived to collect the previously ordered by phone fish and chips, there was virtually a riot going on, so my hopes were high. I waited 10 minutes for them to box up my food (which I could see sitting in the warmer the whole time) but the place was ridiculously busy. Then the first shock - £31.50 for 4 meals, including a kids meal. Sharp intake of breath. On getting the food home, everything is packed into boxes, though rather than level the food before closing them, I had watched as each box was strongly squashed down. On opening each box there were squashed chips mashed into the fish and chicken, and one piece of cod was quite squashed. I see no reason not to just use paper. The chips were very good, and the kids meal looked like a full size piece of cod, broken up into bits to fit it into the kids box, and this and the other adult cod meal were good. The big issue however was the Rock or Huss fish meal, which appeared to have been cooked twice, and was so dried out it was virtually inedible; this single piece of fish had cost £8. There was one "fat" bit at one end which I could eat a small piece of, but midway through my meal I gave up and went and threw it away, and just ate the chips. If I had been in a restaurant I would definitely have sent my meal back, but at home with a takeaway on a rainy night, all I could do was chalk it up to experience. So overall, very expensive, which I could have lived with if it had been excellent, but with 1 meal out of 4 inedible, we won't be back. The Chinese a few doors down do much better fish and chips for half the price!

Many take aways over the years and as much as other chippies can come and go This is the most consistent I have found

I’m still shocked that I got less than £2 back from £20 for 2 portions of takeaway fish and chips! Ok yes, the cod was cooked on order so it was hot with crispy batter, but there definitely wasn’t a wow factor. I still found a few blemished chips - you know the ones where the potatoe used has some black bits. I must’ve been paying for the box it was served in cos that’s the only thing that differentiates them from a regular chip shop. I live in CR2 but would rather drive back down to battersea and buy my fish and chips at Marias on falcon Rd. Better quality, better service and even with the petrol to get there and back it would cost less!

We returned on Saturday evening to the 'Station Fish Bar' on Station Parade, Sanderstead for a welcome treat and had large cod and chips with a portion of onion rings on the side. It is always a delight to visit this busy establishment and the staff are courteous and helpful and the fish and chips are always consistantly good.Look forward to visiting again in the near future, wouldn't go anywhere else.

The best fish and chips I have eaten from a take away, this place really does deserve to be, and hopefully will be, number 1 in the listings. Cooked fresh when you order so there is a small wait, but no more than 10 minutes even at busy times. Lovely fish with a very light batter and as others have said the best chips. Well with going out of your way if you want good quality great value fish and chips.

Although a regular cod and chips is slightly more expensive than some of the other fish and chip shops in the area...it is most definitely worth the extra cost as you do get what you pay for.Your food is cooked to order. The portions are very generous and served in a cardboard box. The chips are cooked to perfection..slightly crisp on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside. The cod is of excellent quality and encased in a light and crispy batter. This is most definitely the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. I will definetly be returning.

Nice to keep updating on the Station Fish Bar, near Sanderstead railway station keeps up the good frying, great portions and friendly service. We are lucky to have numerous guests from overseas, who have eaten Station Fish Bar's cod and haddock and chips and when they return the choice of a visit to a local restaurant or pub is kindly rejected in favour of the fish and chips!

This place is always got a queue and the service is quite fast and the food is very good. Would recommend this place for a nice take away.

My wife and I went here on the recommendation of a friend and we both loved our meals. Haddock and cod were ordered and cooked to order. Bonus; there's a car park directly opposite and an off licence next door.

This is without doubt the best Fish and Chip shop in Croydon and probably London,great staff very pleasant and helpful only down side is the queues but being always busy tells you how good this place is!

Aimed for here this afternoon after reading the reviews and went up and down between the 2 station entrances but could not find it. Taken over? Went to the Brixton Caribbean instead, which was OK I suppose, but not what a set out for. :-(

This is my favourite fish shop .I drive from central croydon because it's so good .5 star food.Never had a bad meal .Good value for money.

It may be on the expensive side (my opinion) but it is good quality fish and chips. Good kids menu. Cash only. Takeaway only.

Wonderful fish and chips. Battered sausage was a treat and the mushy peas were delish. The fish was the real star and our order was freshly made for us - which made it properly special. Only let down was the curry sauce which lacked any oomph and was a bit sweet but only a minor grumble. £39 fed 7 of us amply!

Visited again tonight and as usual very busy on a weekend evening. From our experience this is the best fish and chip shop around the Sanderstead/South Croydon area and wouldn't go anywhere else. The fish is fresh, tasty and brought in on a regular basis and fried in an amazing batter and is absolutely scrumpcious. The menu has a wide variety of choice and caters for everybodies needs. The friendly staff work very hard and are attentive to customers needs, and the boss is wonderful. You won't find a better place and the standards always remain high and the 'Station Fish Bar' is in a great location, has fantastic customer loyalty, once visited you will be hooked!.

Genuinely Lovely food. Its my regular local and we even come from Thornton Heath to get some food. On Friday evenings it is heaving - this just confirms how delicious their food is!

Been coming to Station Fish Bar weekly for a few years and I must say standard never drops. The fish is always delicious and the chips are yummy! The ladies who serve are lovely and friendly. The long queue is always a good sign in a takeaway!

We live in Sanderstead and are lucky enough to have at least 3 high quality chippies, but this little diamond of a takeaway is easily the best!It is only small and serves only takeaway but you won't find fresher fish in crispier batter anywhere in the Croydon area. Plus the chips are to die for. They must use the cleanest oil too because the flavour is just of pure fish and lovely potato, no hint of tInted oil.So great produce, top notch cooking and efficient service from attractive staff.10/10!!

I came here solely based on the reviews on tripadvisor. The staff are very friendly and inquisitive and yes the fish is cooked to order; but for me, once you try McDermott's everything else pales in comparison. It was good, but just not anything special in my opinion.

I had large cod and small chips. £7.50. The cod was massive. Nice batter and nice flakey cod. Not greasy at all and nice chips. Would recommend

after 30 years in the restaurant trade there are a handful of restaurants I would recommend this is by far the best f&c I have eaten by the coast on the sea or inland courteous service with a pleasant smile ,I once used the one at the top of the hill which used to be good,this just blows it out of the water ,the best in Croydon easily ,the south including London probably only fresher ive had was when I used to buy fish from dayboats and cook at home but that's it and I am not easily impressed with food too many head chefs lose there focus and money overtakes Keep up the good work to all the Team

I love fish and chips and have lived around the South Croydon and Croydon area most of my life and this is the best fish and chips shop I've been to so far. The fish is fried well with a perfect amount of batter for me - not too much but crispy. I normally go for a large cod and my wife a standard cod and share a large portion of chips between us and we've never been disappointed with the quality and the service. All the staff are really friendly. I normally pop in, order and then go next door to "The Wine Cellar" to pick up a beer from their vast selection and by the time I've decided my food is almost ready to pick up.The fish I've had is always good and well prepared and the chips are great.I've seen times where the Station Fish bar have had large orders for catering and they are going all out to prepare the meals however they still manage to warn everyone and get everyone elses orders in.Just writing this review is making me hungry!

Outstanding fish and chips (and chicken!) of the highest quality! Staff always friendly and do large portion sizes! If it was at Purley Station I'd be there everyday after work! The smell is too tempting! Yellow lines mean my kids get the luxury of the smell now!Excellent food! Excellent service!

We have been going to the Station Bar in South Croydon (near Sanderstead Station), for a while now and would have to say the food is consistantly good, high quality and very appetising.Would have to say it is good value and probably one of the best fish and chips shops in the local area. The staff are always helpful and friendly and it is a joy to visit making it a wonderful experience, keep up the excellent work.

We have our fish & chips here at least once per week.. The fish is crisp and light and the chips very tasty.. no greasy at all!

We have used this fish bar a number of times, and it's always been good, they serve their takeaways in cardboard boxes which we are sure helps keep the fish crispy until you get home. The fish is really good here, service is quick. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Having reviewed the Station Fish Bar on 11 Station Parade, Sanderstead Road Croydon, Trip Advisor took my comments down as there may have been some confusion about what fish bar was being reviewed. Scroll down and you'll see the real one, whatever the photo is above (and hopefully that will be changed) the Station Fish Bar is not a restaurant and although the local Chinese takeaway undoubtably serves fish as well, is the only 'old-fashioned' fish bar I am aware of, and I live about 100 metres away. The fish is excellent, the owner knows what he is doing and his staff are efficient and polite. Good fish and chips is worth travelling for but I hope Trip Advisor won't take this review down as the Station Fish Bar is worth fighting for!

We don't eat here very often but every time we do it's excellent. It offend gets busy but is worth the wait. Great fish and ask for golden chips to get them extra crispy. Great staff - really helpful and always pleased to help. These guys do big orders and will deliver for any special local event.

Was in Walingham to visit our friend Tony when he ordered fish n chips from here, I thought strang when there are so many fish n chip shops in Wallingham. It was'nt untill we ate the food that we that we could see why Tony ordered and collect ours from Sanderstead. They were gorgeous. We will be back on our next visit
