Really clean café, serving great value food, with friendly efficient staff. We had corned beef pie, gravy & chips, sausage & chips, cheese & potato pie, tea & milkshake. Cooked well (pies seemed homemade), and service good. Would recommend you call in when in the area.

The first time we've been here and it was lovely, the social distancing and mask wearing was also done properly, we had food and drink, great for the prices. We are definitely going back!

I am a local in Merthyr and do regular walks with a friend and enjoy a coffee on route. So with all cafes closed, I was reduced to a flask. Fortunately we found the local well known viazzanis open for take away also known as Station Cafe. A cafe from the Italians that emigrated to Wales many years ago and now run by the third generation family. The owner has taken the challenge providing take away snacks and coffee and prepared to prepare what ever you want available. Doing a fantastic job to keep the business alive as well. Coffee is the best in the area and Sandwiches, rolls, baguettes and much more beautifully prepared. He has complied very well with the social distancing with no more than 3 at a time in the Queue. Been an enjoyable weekly venture with a friend I escort as he is nearly blind. Been a life saver. Thanks to the owner and staff for providing during this unusual crisis. I highly recommend and look forward to the restaurant itself which I have used in the past. Sure I will be visiting more frequently in the future.

Viazzani's is a little gem, my parents took me there as a child in the 1950's. So many of the Welsh Bracchis are closing but this cafe is as good as ever. I had a lovely latte, fresh and hot, with a delicious chocolate eclair, the service quick and cheerful. At one time the entrance to Merthyr station (a Brunel original) used to be opposite but the vandals on Merthyr council allowed the station to be knocked down and replaced with a tatty Tesco. Typical Merthyr vandals. You must support a key part of Wales's heritage and enjoy a nice coffee.

This is a true valley's Italian cafe. What you see is what you get. It's clean, fast-serving, cafe -food, and it's owned by the original family who started it off. Although the railway station has moved, the Station Cafe is still there serving delicious cafe food and you can be sure of seeing the history of boxing around the walls of the cafe. Brilliant! Simply a cafe not trying to be anything else.

Arrived at 2.15pm more than half of cafe area closed off and staff monosyllabic and not very helpful. They gave the impression they wanted to clear up and close. . Food very good.

Called in here for a lunch time break while on business in Merthyr with my sister. Ordered tuna melt panini's & pots of tea. Really superb panini, one of the best I've tasted in all fairness, served with a fresh crisp side salad. Large cafe, clean and well presented, so you may wi see why I've given it 3 stars? Well, for such a large venue, there is NO toilet facilities at all! Unbelievable for a place this size! It would benefit from reducing the size of the cafe & installing a loo - could be done in sure. 5 star panini, 5 star chef, but in this day & age, definitely should be a toilet. Sorry.

Called in for breakfast. No GF options and were looked at dull both by the woman serving us and the girl on the till, when we asked for a breakfast without toast or sausage. Totally confused them then by asking for a sausage bap. Roll was lovely and fresh but they hadn't even bothered to cut the sausages, just slapped them in the roll. Breakfast (hubby said) was ok but was swimming in tomato juice. Expensive too, compared to other similar options in Merthyr

We had been to Aberfan and were on our way North, so stopped off for a cuppa and a snack in Merthyr, and walking along spotted the Station cafe just off a main pedestrianised area, We were welcomed by the very friendly and helpful Mario and his staff , who seemed to be having a regular flow of customers, constantly cleaning tables and delivering steaming hot teas and frothy coffees alongside a range of snacks . Loved the boxing montage on the wall referring in part to Howard Winstone and some of the Viazzanis family I am guessing...Looks like it's in a time warp but works fine as it is.

Viazzani's Station Cafe Having watched a TV programme about Italian families in south Wales I was in the area so stopped in for a coffee. It's not really what I was expecting. My cappuccino was more like frothy coffee. The froth was how I like it with big bubbles, the milk was slightly overheated and the coffee taste mild. But my goodness a top caffeine hit. The décor is pretty well what I remember as Italian bars of my youth in London. This why I say at the crossroads - For Merthyr this is probably middle road. The entrance invites you with Walkers crisps and rows of Cadburys chocolates. The staff are just brilliant with a warm welcome, clean counters and furniture. But for a USP (unique selling point) I reckon they could push away the Costa and Neros of this world by being themselves - truly Italian. Dump the crisps and chocolates, push the biscotti and think of the local produce of Bardi. If you build it, they will come!

The girl on the coffee machine took 25 mins to serve us because she was having a long in depth conversation with every customer to the point it was becoming awkward as she was giving details about her private life. She told one customer she loved chocolate and wanted to lick the cappuccino dust. She told another she’d had two takeaways that weekend. She poured the milk with her mouth inches from the cup breathing all over the rim. The whole experience was rather bizarre and her behaviour was really unsettling.

Excellent ambience, waiter service first class. Perfect for families. Beautiful gardens. Plenty of oarking . no fuss. Booking would be advised easy to find. Beth , our waitress was very friendly and most helpful.

Excellent food had fish chips and mushy peas all very nice too much for me to finish too. Two cups of decent tea as well all for £12. I’m not local but just popped in as it was lunchtime glad I did , place seemed busy but staff were all friendly and on top of things. I’ve noticed that the Tripadvisor description notes this place as closed? I’ve tried adding a new place so if it works I’ll do the review again. Anyway thank you . Great food and hope to visit again sometime

This place is full of drug users and the service is really poor. The manager is rude and needs a lesson in customer service. Avoid!
