Stardust Chip Shop in Great Yarmouth

This was the worst Fish and chips we have had ANYWHERE! I am not sure the fish is actually cod as it had that grey/brown horrible bit you get sometimes but it's usually only a little. These bits it was thick and ran through the whole pieces ,that's what happens to Pollock when it's old we litterally couldn't eat it and just had chip "butties". To Add insult to injury 2 medium "Cod" 1 small chips, a sausage for the dog and 2 Gherkins. £ 27. 60! By the way the sausage was really poor too, pink mush. Thee gherkins almost like green paste. AVOID!! The only reason for 2 stars and not one is the Lady who served me was lovely. I wonder where she gets her Fish and chips.....

Absolutely amazing service and food was delicious. Very clean and the lady's serving was very friendly and polite and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be back again.

One of the largest pieces of cod I think I’ve ever seen so great for portion sizes and would be easy to share between 2! Unfortunately though, it tasted unusual and still had its skin on which is off putting for some. I’m sure there is probably better chip shops within the area but it is in a convenient location.

Firstly - this is NOT Hopton Chippy. So if you’re staying near here for a break and you find Hopton Chippy - that over an hours drive away!! This shop is just on the Haven Site. Your next battle is do you go to the one in the site or this one? My vote. This one! Local business, friendly staff and good food. Fish was a cracking size and there was a ton of chips. Ordered on walking in and no need to ring up. They don’t have a website by the way!! We had, fish & chip x3; chicken nuggets; mushy peas; curry sauce and some cheese stick things. Not cheap - but nothing nowadays is. Piping hot - freshly cooked and filled us up! Would definitely use it again.

Omg! My mouth is stinging from the enormous amount of salt on the chips we got tonight! Too expensive! Wouldn't return!

The fish and chips were delicious but pricy, I would go back another day, and try sausage and chips

Sausage, fishcake and chips for the family. No one complained nothing left, couldn't of been too bad. Could of done with a few more chips.

So came here for tea and the lady said we only have enough chips for a large portion I said ok ill take one large cheesy chips and two battered sausage We was the only people in there and it felt like years had passed me b4 she finally gave me the chips I looked puzzled as she gave me two tray fulls I was like hold on u just said u only had enough for one person, anyway anothervyear went passed and I finally got my sausage I looked at the cheesy chips and was shocked on how much cheese was on it and it was all in thick blocks it was disgusting my son started laughing I felt sick just looking at it. As we went outside to try and find are chips under what looked like a cocain habit my kids could not eat it as was so disgusting I took the cheese off and rolled it into a ball and watch the seagull eat it so really I bought a seagull dinner that cost me £18 no I didn't leave a tip the only tip ill give anyone is don't eat here

Lady behind counter was rude & very off - not good customer service skills. We got there at 6.40pm and was told she only had what was left as they are closing in 5 mins (they only had some nuggets that looked like they’d been there ages). I asked when they closed and she said 7pm - she obvs just wanted to go home! We went to fish n chips in havens and was prob much better anyway and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

My mum used to rave about this chippy, always saying how lovely it was. Well, hasn’t it changed. Thin small cod and a ‘regular’ chips sets you back over £10. I was a bit devastated when I saw the portion size! Unfortunately, it’s enough to put me off returning.

This was the worst experience Ive ever had with cod and chips , nearly 13 pounds for 1 portion, the fish was terrible and the batter was like concrete , chips were just about edible ! I was physically sick quarter way through it , threw the rest ! To think the cost was equivalent to sitting in a good pub restaurant !

The quality of the food is excellent but is more expensive than we are used to. Fish and chips were around £3 cheaper in the Haven holiday village chippy. Staff were friendly and polite and the food was excellent.

Though this would of been better then the Cooks fish & Chips from haven unfortunately not, chips just about warm Same price aswell as Cooks

I first visited this fish and chip shop a few years ago and loved the food they served. Fast forward to 2021 I re-visited the shop in the hope that the food would taste just as good. How wrong was I! First of all the customer service was appalling, grumpy faces all around and was told to wait outside for our food despite it pouring down with rain. Got told food will be ready in 3-4 minutes. 15 minutes later they called our number for food which we could see had already been cooked and was just sitting waiting to be packed, meanwhile I’m absolutely soaked. Then comes the part where we actually eat the food; the grease was so thick that the cardboard box the food came in was falling apart and you could taste the grease from the chips, the chips were soaked in salt they almost became inedible and the battered sausage my partner ordered gave him FOOD POISONING! Avoid avoid avoid would never go back.

There were 10 of us so we must have tried most of the things on the menu. We did have some chips left, but we do normally over order these. Quality was pretty good although the cost seemed a bit high. Very convenient. Only a short walk to our caravan across the road at Hopton

Got here today and can honestly say that this is the worst Fish & Chip shop that we have eaten out of, the service was appalling, as I went in the Hidla Ogden behind the counter just looked at me and carried on talking to a colleague for 3mins & then said! Yes with an attitude like you owed her a favour, and the food is disgusting 2 cod & chips, 2 savaloys & chips & 1 sausage & chips £35!!! Not even good enough for my dog, save your money as it is absolute filth.

Poor quality and expensive. £4 for a large portion of chips £1.30 for a small tub of curry sauce and £2.50 for a cheap sausage. Chips so greasy that the box they are served in was so moist with fat it barely held together! Battered sausage might have been shown some batter but definitely wasn't crisp. Took 15 minutes from time of ordering to actually being given food wouldnt mind if it was busy but I was the only order in. While I was waiting some guy was charged £33 for 3 fish and chips. Avoid it if you can.

Called here for the first time during lockdown. The food was cooked fresh and brought out to my car. Honestly the food was outstanding to the point where i went back inside the restaurant to thank the staff after my meal. Fresh fish and great chips.

Had 4 portions of fish and 2 chips and all the family thought they were quite good, chips could have maybe done with a couple more minutes in the frier, but otherwise decent. Portions very large.

Visiting on a family holiday and treating us to fish and chips, I can honestly say I have never had anything so disgusting! Laden with grease, soggy, sweaty fish, runny gravy. £36 later all went in the bin!An absolute waste of money-so disappointing. Not sure what fat was used this, this also was vile-repeated all night long - could smell nothing else.Not a great start to our holiday. Won’t be eating fish and chips for a while ☹️

Have never seen a bit of fish more overcooked and dry in my life. Batter was so hard knive couldn't even cut through it. The contents were simular to cardboard. You can see from the picture just how bad it was. It's appauling they even had the nerve to send it out. You can see from the pic how bad it was!!Chips were ok which was handy as I had to have a chip sandwich in the end!

We ordered through JustEat due to the lockdown. Was 30 minutes late(Driver was very apologetic, as they are only open fish and chip shop for 15 miles and it is Good Friday, i suspect they are overwhelmed). Well worth the wait though, cod and haddock were both huge and cooked to perfection. Chips were also devine. I think we have found our new chippie, even after lockdown is over. Thank you for managing to stay open, and starting delivery service.

This little gem is open pretty much every day of the year (almost) and takes delivery orders too. If you want a traditional fish and chip shop then this is it. Friendly uniformed staff and food cooked fresh. I can’t praise this chippy more highly. You won’t be disappointed.

With not living in the area was recommended this chip shop as they deliver aswell.We went for the large cod on our first order (it came as a whale) so decided to go for a regular next time.Have to say , value for money yet again and wasnt dissapionted at all .

Every time i get fish and chips from Stardust at Hopton the quality is excellent. the place is always very clean and the staff are very polite. The food is delicious go and try it for yourself.

I use this fish and chip shop on a regular weekly basis ( Saturday nights can't come quick enough!) the staff are so friendly, delivery service very prompt, with food arriving piping hot. I highly reccomend this business. With love kym

Charming little chippy. We stayed in a Caravan in the holiday park and popped over for takeaway fish n chips. The two ladies who work there are delightful and a large portion of Cod or Haddock are LARGE!

They fry fresh so little wait but worth it a family meal offer for £25 feeds easily 6 kids can order a bucket of chips a nd get to keep the bucket and next door there’s a arcade for the family.

Excellent value for money. Food was excellent. They also deliver. We were staying at the caravan park next to the Stardust complex and fancied fish and chips. This chip shop is much better value than the one on the site entertainment complex and much nicer. Quick, efficient service and friendly staff. Will definitely use again on our return.

Have been a few times to collect a fish and chip meal. Always found the food to be excellent with friendly and helpful staff.Recommended.

Went here for our family meal on arrival of the holiday park. And was really surprised we have been to many camp fish and chip shop and this is honestly the best one we have ever been to the fish was so fresh and the chips were cooks to perfection. Very reasonably priced we got the family deal for £25 and there was more than enough have eaten there twice since and will visit for lunch before going home. Thank you for a very enjoyable meal

now had two terrible meals of fish and chips at this place no wonder the sizzlers resturaunt got a nil hygiene result. should have known better

What a joy! Not only was the food excellent (they use real fresh potatoes for a start) but the curry sauce was so good - in fact, the best curry sauce I have ever had from a chip shop. I have had curry sauce from many chippies in the past but this was beyond excellent.

Staying at Hopton holiday park I tried this Fish and chip shop and there were no faults. Fantastic fish and lovely chips. Served by a friendly mother and daughter team, Bridget and Kia. Been there twice since. Only been here a fortnight lol.

We come to Hopton every year. This chip shop is the best. The food is always hot , well cooked and tasty. It’s very clean in there. The staff are just so lovely. We often sit and chat to the daughter , we don’t know her name , but such a lovely person. My friend had Curry sauce with everything, it’s so nice. Chips are tasty, not greasy or a bag of splinters either !! Nice big chips.

Fish very nice but the chips were awful would not rush back again what else can I say some of the staff very pleasant

Went here 3 times while staying at Hopton the first couple of times were brilliant - we had to wait but the food was nice but unfortunately the 3rd time at approx 1pm the chips were absolutely disgusting cold with green and brown chips and tasted warmed up. Such a shame as this chip shop has improved so much but sadly let itself down again.

Don't buy the kids meal. It is cheaper to buy them a normal portion. The reason? When you buy a kids meal toy are also buying a tiny bucket and spade.

We wasn’t planning on coming here but thanks goodness we did. Food so fresh and portions very generous staff certainly know what there doing as all food fresh but ready to go hardly any wait at all did wait 5 mins on some fresh chips but who cares when you get nice quality food. Would certainly use again. Keep it up

We weren’t impressed. £28 for 3 kids meals and two adults. We couldn’t decide which were the kids meals when we unwrapped as all fish portions were small. Also I asked for a squirt of burger sauce which I was duly charged 50p for.

We arrived for a weekend at the holiday park after seeing the prices of the on site chip shop we went to this one and thank goodness we did can’t complain portion sizes perfect fish was so fresh and staff so nice keep up the good work

Traditional fish and chips. Generous portions and good quality. Everything was cooked fresh. Will definitely be using again, love that you can phone though your order to collect or they will deliver. Always lovely and clean and staff really friendly and helpful.

This took me back to my childhood when my grandad used to take us for a mammoth walk and then end up with chips or an ice cream. Had been for a walk as visited family in the area and ended up here for fish and chips. The cod was so fresh and succulent and chips done to perfection. Will be back in the summer.

Everything lovely and clean food being cooked fresh the only thing I would say is we had a spam fritter and was little bit small but was nice so will get 2 next time

I was staying at the caravan park so popped in for a quick take away. Prices are very high, too much. They close at 8, went at 7:30. Everything was packed away and was told “all we have is want in the display, and chips”. Overpriced battered plastic sausage and soggy pies. I asked if they could cook some fish fresh and was told “no”.

Absolutely shocked that my child went swimming with a friend at our local camp, stopped off for something to eat and was charged £4 for cheesy chips and they only do one size in these, a couple of spuds and sprinkle of cheese how can you warrant £4. What a rip off for locals and holiday makers.

Had 2 large cod and chips cod was so fresh tasting was really good and chips were good as well staff very friendly and assertive will return

This is the worst chip shop if ever been to. The gravy and mushy peas tasted sour! Feel ashamed of myself that I ate any of it. Please avoid at all costs, unless you want to be extremely disappointed

Its the closest onsite chip shop to where we were staying and their chicken bites in batter are awesome, and they know how to fry chips

The worst food ever, feel cheated as a total waste of money went straight into the bin. 5 star health and hygiene rated... don’t think so and the wait was so long after ordering. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The worst chips I have ever purchased could not eat them they where so rubbery eating an eraser would have Benn nicer.

This place is awesome. Food is well cooked, portion sizes are excellent and price is good. I always use this place when in the area should highly recommend.

Went here on our first night at arriving on the holiday park as it was the most convenient after a long drive food was really lovely and the staff was helpful nice sized portions will defiantly use again when we come back in august

Went here twice while staying at Hopton and both times were disappointed with the food. First time the food was practically cold and the second time the chips were under cooked hard and still raw in the middle. Won’t be going back.

What a lovely place to get something to eat. Lots of choice and I can’t fault it at all. The usual chips, fish, chicken, kebabs, salad, jacket potatoes, lovely.

The fish was just sheer perfection, from the amazing batter to the scrumptious flakes of fish. The chips were just right kind of crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the batter sausage went down a treat. On top of that the curry sauce was actual chip shop curry sauce, lovely grub :)

Never known such horrendous fish and chips. The fish was bad and the chips were worse. Pretty awful when that's your speciality.

Don't be fooled by other good reviews as i was. My family and I were unsure where to eat at as we are on holiday, we read the reviews of this chippy and thought the reviews look good so we chose here. I spent £16 on 2 fish and chips (reg), a small sausage and 1 pot of mushy peas (reg) i was shocked by the price but thought the food must be nice. NO! the food was a real let down. The fish was poor quality and the chips were hard, dry and tasteless. Really disappointed. Would not recommend.

Situated just outside of holiday park, good value for money lots of choice on the menu, there's definitely something there for everyone. Fish is very tasty. Will be trying the kebabs next.
