The treatment of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered an iced matcha which I drink every day at Starbucks and I know what color it is and what it tastes like. This is the disgusting matcha that I have never tried. The truth is, it only tasted like water and had almost no color. green, I asked please and kindly if they could change it for me and the boy was quite unpleasant to me he gave me another one which was the same so it's not worth coming to this Starbucks just for the views

I came here to get a coffee before going to work, first thing I noticed was how dirty it was, I'm not sure if they just didn't have the opportunity to clean that day as it had been quite clean the last time I was there, While ordering the children infront were taking up to 10 minutes for their order and on top of of that I had to wait another 10 minutes for my drink to be ready. The staff were quite nice but wouldn't recommend if your low on time and need to quickly get somewhere as the drinks take quite awhile to be prepared.

Major fail here with this new store, there are NO toilet signs anywhere either upstairs or downstairs, going up 3 flights of stairs with no toilet sign only to go down again and ask to be told the toilets are upstairs, not going up 3 flights of steps again with a heavy bag please sort this out

Messed up order for my family and left one drink out. Waited 5 minutes then pointed out they had missed one drink out. Waited a further 15 minutes and then brought the wrong coffee. No apology.

This is for the new Starbucks on Castle Street, it's terrible. There was one staff member talking orders & one making drinks, I waited almost 15mins before I had to ask where mine was and it was lying on the counter. The staff were not clear when calling out people's names & nobody had a clue if it was their drinks or not. I won't be going back here.

First and last visit to Starbucks. Our 11 year old granddaughter was looking forward to taking us whilst we were visiting Edinburgh. Can't understand why anyone wants to stand in a queue to order and then stand in another awaiting the order to carry to an untidy table where we had the pleasure of sitting opposite a person lying fully stretched out sleeping, we assumed, in their sweaty socks with their shoes lying on the floor for more than 40 minutes. At no time were they approached. We began to wonder if the person was ill! We then realised they were OK when the vaping started and then they walked in socks to the toilet. This behaviour must be acceptable in Starbucks. For the prices charged I can find a far better customer experience.

Thanks to Starbucks for the bathroom break, hot coffee, and a place to sit down for a bit. We needed time to orient ourselves to Edinburgh. We had a quiet place to sit and look at our map.

Really sullen staff. Whispered my name so I didn’t realise when my order was ready and left us standing there (although we were the customers waiting) while they had a giggle and a chat

Ordered via just eat. Order was not delivered but charged by just eat / Starbucks. This is theft will never use just eat app again and Starbucks should consider not using them either

My friend and I visited this branch about 2weeks ago as latte is really good however when we got up stairs we struggled to get place to sit as was full of well I’d say non customers on phones I pads etc whilst large percentage were not purchasing any food or drinks possibly be good if staff could try to weed out those people so genuine customers can get a seat and table staff not the most friendly

Toffe locatie! Springt niet speciaal uit het oog vergeleken met de andere Starbucks zaken. Enkel het uitzicht is zeer de moeite waard. Grote ruime zaak met de voor de hand liggende producten die altijd smaken. Bevat grote victoriaanse ramen waardoor je kan genieten van The Royal Castle. Zeer leuk concept

I love Starbucks and always have a hot chocolate as a little treat because I’m diabetic so you could say I’m a bit of a connoisseur of their chocolate 😂 Well this place has totally let the side down😢 It was like drinking a cup of hot milk on its own, no taste at all and to add insult to injury it was luke warm. If I wasn’t so tired I would have taken it back instead we left it and went to Costa! Oh and not family friendly at all as you have to climb a flight of stairs to get served so if you’ve got babies in prams you’ve got no chance and the same if you’re a disabled/wheelchair user.

Came in from christmas shopping dying of thirst ordered a strawberry açai and a water only to wait 25 minutes for the strawberry açai as everyone that came in after me ordered hot drinks and got theirs within minutes and I'm still waiting on a drink that takes 2 mins to make and when i asked the man behind the counter if there was one coming he was very rude and shouted He’s making it now then got my drink 2 mins later so i know it takes seconds to make. Very disappointed at how they spoke to a paying customer and the fact i waited 25 minutes on basically some overpriced strawberry water. I work in a restaurant and i know this time is busy and stressful but i would never speak to a customer the way i was spoken to!

After walking up and down Princes Street we needed a break from shopping and sight seeing. A bit awkward as you need to go upstairs to find a table, but we got a table in the end and the view from the cafe are nice, as you look down on Princes street and across to the park. Tables needed a wipe and there was confusion regarding the drinks and sweets which meant some of us got our drinks and sweets the rest of us got ours about 10 minutes later which was bizarre as it was not particularly busy.

Coffee was good, staff friendly and fast. Beautiful window fir a great view of the castle. Located in a great area.

Great location with efficient service. This Starbucks is the perfect place to pop in to get out of the Edinburgh rain. The added bonus of the fantastic view of the castle definitely added bossy points. The only thing that brings my rating down is that tables aren’t cleared regularly. There’s no obvious place to put used trays / cups so you have no choice but to leave them on the table. Since it’s always a busy place because of the location, it would be helpful to have a staff member walking round clearing up.

Stopped here the other day for an afternoon coffee. Great premises with an equally great view. . Friendy efficient staff. Spotless.

I went yesterday with my partner and friend and the service was slowly and very poor. No energy to do a service customer. The tables were full of dirty mugs and the toilet without soap. The stuff were busy on their phones. So I guess...

We decided to try the app TooGoodTogo and It was a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and willing to assist me. Well done for participating in preventing food from going to the landfill. I bought two bags and we surprised in what was included.

This coffee shop with a great view overlooking Edinburgh castle is the dirtiest cafe I’ve ever been in. Floors filthy. Tables cluttered with dirty cups etc. Got take away coffee, had few sips although tasted ok was put off drinking after going to toilets before...

I popped into this Starbucks in Princes Street for a coffee. The coffee and service are of the standard that you come to expect but the place could do with a bit of TLC.You can expect it to be in the slightly worn concoction that it’s in. With it being on one of the most famous streets in the world you know it’s going to be frantic but the staff handle it well. I did notice that the table I was at had a paper towel as a makeshift table stop and there was a selection of dirty mugs and wrappers lying around. There’s a steady flow of tourists, families and students. The ground floor has a takeaway counter while the upstairs plays host to a large seating area.With a bit of care it could bring itself up to other branches of Starbucks.

This place was very crowded and hot. I ordered an americano to drink in the place. The place was hot so I asked if I could get a go cup to take, but was told that I need to pay for the cup. That was a new experience for in Starbucks.

Unusually hot weather forced us inside to cool down. I had a caramel frappecino and my friend had the cookies and cream one. Both were really nice and we didn't have to wait too long (most people were outside in sun) There is,however, the annoyance in many Starbucks where you stand around me waiting on them calling your name when your drink is ready and there's sometimes annoying customers who 'just stand there ' blocking already cramped areas. Poor system but it's what Starbucks do. I do think their prices are a bit high for what you get and I DO NOT want to try a new/different brand of coffee (it's more expensive but you don't realise this until your charged at the till )...but...I still visit here. It's a good location with fantastic views of the castle.

Visited on my own and managed to get a comfy seat by the window with view of the castle! - first time I've managed this I years! Luckily it wasn't too busy and as usual there was only one person making drinks but my mocha was pretty good when it was finally ready . I had a cheese toastie too which was actually quite delicious. Enjoyed my visit on this occasion and would have stayed longer if I could. It's in a great location. Toilets were clean which is a novelty for this branch and staff were ok.

Overlooking the castle, you can sit and watch the world go by. It is upstairs so not accessible to everyone but well worth paying a visit.

We had a nice coffee and food but for the first 20 minutes of our visit no one was clearing tables. Despite the fact that it was pretty quiet. So we had to sit in a dark, grubby corner.

We had an hour or so to kill before we do uld check into our accommodation. Starbucks was the perfect place to wait and enjoy a hot drink. Not overcrowded with comfy seats and a friendly atmosphere.

Situated right next to our hotel, we frequented Starbucks largely because it was open till late. There area is spacious and comfortable with a view of the castle. The service was average and the coffee was really bad as well as the hot chocolate. The space was dirty and not well maintained. They have a range of sweet options such as muffins as well as sandwiches. Mugs are also on sale.

The toilets were blocked and litter on the floor. Sanitary disposal was overflowing and littered the floor. Toilets hasn't been checked for two days according to the Rota.

I like this Starbucks, it has amazing views of the castle and it's where I first debated whether to going travelling alone and yes I am! It's also quite big and usually full of students but it's a good atmosphere with a lot of buzz about it, however it's not perfect as it's usually quite cold and there is no lift to allow prams or wheelchairs as far as I can see but maybe that's the point, maybe this is a child free hub for students to study but as for wheelchair users, I'm not sure how they are supposed to get upstairs, can anyone tell me?

We were considering where to have morning coffee on the way to castle in the raiming morning. When we saw Starbucks (with the view of castle), we got off the bus and decided to have breakfast (in 2nd floor) and got the table with nice view of castle and garden. :)

I must admit, it feels strange to review a starbucks, as we all know what to expect. However, the top floor is so spacious with such excellent views that I had to! You are treated to a great view of the castle and gardens, as well as all the stunning architecture that Edinburgh has to offer. I stopped in for a pick me up shortly after arriving, and it was a wonderful place to soak up the ambiance of the city.

Fantastic view of castle if you're lucky enough to get window seat. Very busy and noisy when I visited as it was a rainy afternoon in Edinburgh. I got a good seat though, a big comfortable armchair. My 4 cheese toastie and small mocha cost £7.09. Bit pricey for what you get but delicious and typical for Starbucks prices. I got served super fast by polite efficient staff. My trip was spoiled personally by a female with a slight American twang. I'm not slagging off ANYTHING American but boy was this girl loud. I was trying to tune her out but couldn't. She talked at high pitch/volume about her hair for over 15 mins to her quiet bored looking companion. Wee shame, I felt her pain. Everywhere else was just background noise, unfortunately I sat beside the pain. As my favourite podcasters say 'People! If you're going to be boring-please whisper!'

When me and my family visited edinburgh we had Lunch at this Starbucks every day we like it but it was a pretty normal starbucks with is pretty good

Your typical Starbucks coffee shop what makes this one stand out is the location - beautiful view of the castle, which to be fair can be found from other shops/cafes too. Place quite spacious too.

It is a Starbucks so I won't go on about the coffee and the service, as it is pretty much standard across all outlets. The impressive thing here is the view of the castle and the old town! I was lucky enough to find one of the front tables, so had the pleasure of enjoying this incredible view with my morning coffee.

Ordered a hot chocolate and coffee. The hot chocolate came in a huge mug, which was fantastic but it was tasteless. The coffee wasn't too bad. The view all but made up for it.

Stopped in for coffee at this Starbucks on Princes Street in Edinburgh. At the entrance on the street level there is a small service area for an on the go order (or take away as the locals say). To the right is a stairway upstairs to a spacious service counter that offers the usual Starbucks drinks and food. We sat on very comfy couch that overlooked Princes Street and had views of Edinburgh Castle up on the hill. Wonderful place to sip our coffees and relax and take in the views.

A large Starbucks very centrally located on Edinburgh's main shopping street, Princes Street. It consists of a takeaway counter downstairs and a huge seating area upstairs with fantastic views of the castle. Although it's big, it can get pretty busy.

Al igual que todos los Starbucks de cualquier ciudad del mundo. Este tiene una diferencia curiosa, según entras tienes una barra con una chica que te atiende, solo para pedidos para llevar. En la parte de arriba tienes la opción de comprar algo para consumir en el mismo sitio. Arriba tienes vistas directas al castillo de Edimburgo... muchos escuches para cargar el teléfono, cámara, Pc, etc.

Could not find an Eggnog latte at any Starbucks while traveling from Surrey in England via the M1. Arrived in Scotland and they have plenty. So if you want an Eggnog latte come to Starbucks in Princes St Edinburgh but make it fast as I am here and working through their stock !!!!

Do not be deceived by the small coffee serving area on the ground floor. The walk up the steep stair case to the first level will greet you with a wide open room with various arm chairs, leather bench style seats and wooden benches and tables.The views of Edinburgh Castle out of the large windows are worth purchasing the expensive coffee for.This area was mostly used by students with various laptops / tablets and smart phones being used. The crowd was certainly late teens early twenties but there were a few older people too. It certain gave a studenty type feel and buzz to the coffeeshop.

Visited the coffee bar on the ground floor for a take away coffee on Sunday 1st October at approx 3.40pm.The girl (American or Canadian accent) who served us was awful. No please or thank you and made to feel like an inconvenience. Felt so embarrassed that the tourists behind me were given the same treatment.

For me is one of the best Starbucks Edinburgh, is one of my favourite spots when I need my solo coffee!!!! Coffee with a view!!!

One of our highlights was to taste Starbucks. We had one just outside the hotel on Princess Street but while walking the Royal Mile we went in that one. Took the caramel frapuccino and it was tasteful.

Called in for a cappuccino and pastry before catching the Hop on hop off bus tour. Staff were quick to make our drinks and we had a shory time to sit down before moving on. These premises on Princes Street, provide a great view of the castle whilst enjoying a decent coffee.

Typical Starbucks establishment. Slight difference at this one. Downstairs is take away only. Upstairs is the restaurant. Only trouble is there is a very steep set of stairs to ascend. Staff not helpful in anyway. Lots of tables that hadn't. Even cleared for some time. Dirty cups and rubbish piled up on most tables.

You could easily miss this. The Starbucks has a little takeaway downstairs but nothing can prepare you for the view when you enter the second floor. The view is amazing through the beautiful big windows. The coffee isn't bad either.

Went in May. Shoppers deserve a decent coffee after a long and nice walk on Princes Street. Good seating places for singles, couples, and groups. Mocha a treat.

This starbucks has only a doorway on Princes Street but if you go upstairs in sprawls along three or four large windows with amazing views of Edinburgh castle. It's high ceilings and starbucks type furniture made this a really nice place for a coffee and a rest while exploring.

This branch of Starbucks is in a superb location - right in the heart of Edinburgh opposite the castle in Princes Street. If you can find a clean table it is a great place to sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee and muffin or whatever. Inevitably it is a hectic place and the staff seem to do their best at serving customers but it is a pity that there are not more staff to keep the place clean. I had to move 12 different items (used cups, wrappers, plates etc) off a table before I could sit at it. Sadly I find this a common feature of a number of coffee outlets of this kind.

Went here for coffee. it was nice. It was the right temperature and i liked it . friendly staff . sat in . kept my jacket on as it was a bit chilly

Mi piace il caffè di Starbucks, il filtra, ho comprato anche le capsule per Nespresso. Ho conosciuto la catena a New York e adesso, quando li trovo, a Londra o Edinburgo, é diventata prassi il bicchierino di caffè, che in Italia non esiste. Arriverà a Milano forse tra due anni, bene!

I love to come here for the great view this location has to offer just opposite the castle and old town , specially when it is cold outside , u can enjoy the great view while sipping your fav drink.Service behind the counter is good but no one cares about the mess outside, plates and cups are left on tables and Floors and even when the place is not very busy For more than 1 hr i didn't see anyone bothered to collect the items left everywhere, is sad to lose stars just because of this.

Although Starbucks does scream Scottish culture, the Cafe on Princes Street has the best view of the castle.Its a perfect place to sit down and plan your travels for the day or sit and enjoy the power points and free wifi to finish university assignments!

Staff were perfect. Perfect serve score. Would come back here just for the staff. Some Starbucks suffer due to staff. But this place is a crown in their arsenal. Well done and thank you.

Standard Starbucks fayre. Nice polite service, decent coffee. The special thing about this one is the amazing views of the castle. It really is a great place to have a coffee break.

THis is quite a large and spacious Starbucks with great views over Princes Street gardens, up to the Castle. Certainly a good spot to sit with a coffee and work out what to do next!
