Starbucks in Gwynedd

Called at Starbucks Dolgellau on my way down to Aberystwyth. I had my dog with me. No sign on the door that dogs were not allowed inside. Had three members of staff shouting that dogs were not allowed inside. As she is a puppy could not leave her outside as they suggested. Nobody offered to help. So disappointed. In my local Starbucks in Bangor dogs are allowed. Staff should be thought about customer care and how to respect customers. Will not be calling again. Gwasanaeth gwarthus

Terrible customer service so moody, need re training they don't fill your drinks up to the top. Was here on 14.1.24.starbucks need to address this.

Regularly use this as a pit stop on our journey to a holiday in Wales. Staff are friendly and the food is standard Starbucks. What is infuriating is that they do not have decaffinated tea. I don't know of any other chain or independant tea/coffee shop that does not offer decaffinated tea now. They always say there is no call for it but how difficult is it to have a small box of decaffinated tea bags?? That's such a feeble, pathetic excuse. We also don't see why we have to provide our name when ordering - we are told it is to be able to link buyers to their drinks - but they are hardly serving queues of customers.

We stopped for coffee and a loo break. However the men's toilet door was broken so walked into someone using it. The disabled were the only option bu lt there were used toilet paper all around, a dirty toilet and liquid all over the floor. Awful experience for our children.

Wow! Out of the hundreds of Starbucks I’ve visited over many decades, this was by far the worst. The girl on the till was too busy texting to serve customers. She literally threw the roll that I’d bought across to the oven. I dared to ask for my freezing cold croissant to be warmed a little and it was nuked to oblivion. I simply threw it in the bin because it was inedible. As for the coffee, I’m not even sure what had happened to it. It also went in the bin. They need to train their staff. Avoid!

Always good service. We always stop on our way to Aberystwyth. Young guy and nice lady this morning, very cheery despite being busy.

I called here Friday evening on my way to Bangor all the lights were on yet the store was closed. As there were no other local options I had to go without a coffee. I decided to call on the way home on Sunday. I ordered a Venti oat latte ( £3.95 😳) it came and I couldn't believe how light it felt I open the lid to see it was full of foam. When I completed they did fill it up for me but it's the second time it's happened in a Starbucks store. I'm sure they are told to do this by management. Come on guys stop ripping us off! Why is the oatmilk so sweet can't you use the unsweetened variety and people can add their own sugar if waited?

One star for ample parking space. Downhill from there. Staff were miserable, no "thank you", no eye contact, very uncomfortable atmosphere. Tables cluttered and sticky, crumbs all over the floor, no napkins etc. Staff seem to have no pride in their work, and are obviously not trained. The hand drier in the ladies toilets didn't work. No excuse whatsoever for this level of sloppiness - it wasn't busy - staff had plenty of time to daydream and chat. Our coffee wasn't particularly hot. We couldn't wait to leave. Litter bin outside overflowing, not acceptable. If this is typical of Starbucks, we'll avoid in future.

The usual starbucks experience, however service was very good and the place was spotlessly clean, good range of food options, sliggtly larger range than normal, recommended

I briefly visited this Starbucks back in April along with my husband, 5-year-old daughter and in-laws while travelling to North Wales. We had been driving for hours when my in-laws (20 minutes ahead) phoned and asked if we'd like to stop at Starbucks and get drinks. At this point we were driving up through the beautiful Welsh mountains and found it really hard to believe there was a Starbucks nearby! But there was (I believe it used to be a Little Chef) and it's in a brilliant location. It's clearly popular, the car park was very busy with cars, campervans and motorbikes constantly going in and out during our visit. We didn't actually go inside (my father-in-law had already bought our drinks when we arrived) but we did sit at a table outside so our daughter could drink her hot chocolate. We had to wipe the table down ourselves as it hadn't been done. This Starbucks is in a really great location, there's plenty of parking and our drinks were really tasty. It was an unexpected and great find during our journey.

Review your opening times…. Just turned up at 18:05 as it said it was open til 19:00 online… staff inside but closed!! Not happy especially when coffee is needed on a journey from south to north wales! Thanks Starbucks Dolgellau! What a let down!

The first I thought was how dirty it was. Sticky stuff everywhere. Nothing got wiped the length of time we were there. Nothing on the shelves hardly in terms of food. I know it's a coffee place but it was very empty. Spelled my name wrong... Doesn't matter but it irritating. Service was not friendly it was very 'couldn't be botheted'. Did I mention dirty? Glad to get out. 2 stars for location and nice quality of drinks.

Staff need a change of attitude a smile a please and thank you and food delivered correctly would be a good start as a result poor service

Every time I've been to this Starbucks it's the same as any other Starbucks anywhere in the country. The staff are competent, friendly and efficient but they don't treat you like you're the most important thing in their life. I mean, Why would they? Why would anyone expect them to. it's a coffee shop and you're buying a coffee. If you want a hot mediocre coffee use this Starbucks. If you want a 5 star, customer centric, roasted-bean experience whilst driving between rural Welsh towns.....you might be disappointed and also a little delusional.

We have stopped here on numerous occasions over the last few years and the place has seriously gone downhill. It was dirty, rude staff and an unpleasant atmosphere. As we were eating in, the waitress asked me to download the NHS COVID App. I explained that I didn’t have a suitable device. She gave a huge exasperated huff and said you do know it’s a legal requirement? I said no, it’s not! Obviously I gave name and number as required. I waited for our croissants. No hand sanitizer by the main door, no napkins out, no stirrers for drinks. Luckily, we decided not to use the toilet facilities. Very poor and I would hope that Starbucks would expect their premises to be tip top wherever they are.

We entered the establishment and there was no control over the number of people entering. Then one of the staff came and rudely shooed everyone out, there was no smile or explanation, it was just very rudely done. Then she stood policing the door, she was just stood talking to her boyfriend and was on her phone constantly. My friend peered round the corner not entering the building just to see how big the internal queue was and she shouted at her. A few people left the building she didn’t notice because she was glued to her phone so she didn’t let us in for ages. When we were finally let in things were moving very slowly as nobody seemed to be working very hard. When we got to the till we asked a question the server just grunted at us and said she’d had a bad day so couldn’t be bothered to explain. We were waiting an unusually long time for our drinks even though it wasn’t that busy anymore. While we were waiting the girl from outside came in and started arguing with the one behind the till and the till lady took her apron off and stormed off to the toilets. The girl from outside was stood at the coffee machine on her phone while there were people waiting for their orders to be made! The staff were so rude and unprofessional, all in all it took us about 45 minutes just to get a drink that we thought was going to be a quick stop to grab a drink for the car journey home. Also the toilets were disgusting, they smelt like sewerage.

My take out cappuccino was only a third full, the rest was froth! I did say to the assistant that it felt very light but she was very dismissive, assuring me that it was OK. Not impressed with the coffee, the froth or the service...

The people who work there just don't know English and make mistakes with orders. I literally left my phone with the order on the screen, they could read it and make it right but they mess up with it. Don't go to this Starbucks.

Driving up the A470, stopped off at the Dolgellau Starbucks to use the facilities and grab a white hot chocolate. Good friendly Welsh service. Covid precautions in place with masks and hand sanitiser etc. Clean and tidy toilets. Small free car park.

Today i had a cheese and hickery ham toastie. Flat white and chilli crisps. Good sanitizer stations. Coffee is really good. Lots of choice. Nice choice of cakes. Chilli crisps a favourite. It was afternoon stop, so not a wide choice of rolls or toasties...

Nice toastie. Decent coffee. Tuna melt not the best. Staff a little bit short but hey ho. Would visit again.

This is a great coffee stop with plenty of parking. The coffee was really nice and price was reasonable. The staff are really friendly.

Yes... 20 minutes before closing.... but it looks like the 3 members of staff chose not to clean the place until the end of the shift.

Service is good. Sitting inside is comfortable. Sitting outside on the terrace is completely the other wordl. Terrace is full of cigaret butts and other dirt.

I have been stopping here for a drink since it opened when travelling through the are for work. Great place to have out a Starbucks and always welcoming.

Driving back from Snowdonia, stopped off at Starbucks on the A470 just outside Dolgellau for lunch. Standard Starbucks in nice local stone building. Friendly helpful staff. Nice light airy coffee shop. Though toilets could have done with a better clean.

Firstly management needs to take responsibility for the terrible service by the three young servers that were serving today.They had no communication skills they never once smiled and only spoke or grunted when asked a question.I came home and decided to read the reviews and i was shocked to read that this terrible service has been going on for over a year.And i did notice the place was filthy,As i said Management is to blame here,As these servers need basic social skills asap.(In my humble opinion)

Coffee as expected nothing special cups not full, but shocked at the state of the place, windowsills we’re thick with dust, and not just today’s dirt they had not been cleaned for ages!! Eating food next to this dirt was not pleasant.

Stopped off here to break up a journey. Service was good, coffee was good. However went to the toilets and wish we hadn't. No paper in either men's or womens. Womens was disgusting. Paper over the walls and blocking sink. Hand dryer didn't work

I live in Dolgellau and come to Starbucks on a regular basis. I support many of the local businesses in Dolgellau. Yes - Starbucks is a big corporation... BUT they employ at least 6 welsh speaking locals who are always polite and respectful.

Visit today to break up a trip. Both had strawberry and cream frappuchinos. Mine was leaking all over the cup and neither seemed mixed properly as most of the flavour seemed to be in the top half. Staff were friendly though and the place was clean.

Cafes are supposed to be warm, welcoming places. Not so this one!

Lovely coffee but even better hot chocolate. Priced very good for light bits and piping hot drinks served by nice people

It was late in the afternoon but staff were not friendly- tea was spoilt by milk just slightly on the turn - toilets had no hand soap or paper - hand drier not working. Wales definitely does need better roadside services for travellers.

Visited this Starbucks today and it was quite busy. The guy Owain on the till was fantastic when he took our order, however, it went downhill after that. We ordered two drinks, both of which were not what we asked for (white Americano with milk arrived without milk, coffee based caramel frappe with no whipped cream arrived as a cream based frappe with whipped cream. Even after I told them what I actually asked for i got a coffee based frappe WITH whipped cream!!) The entire time we were there the service by everyone behind the counter was awful, no eye contact, no smile, banging cups and plates down on the counter with no regard to what people have just paid for. I wasnt the only one waiting who’s order arrived wrong as well. Awful experience and I would not recommend.

I have travelled far and wide and Starbucks has always been a drop in while on the road. However my son and me called in to this roadsode oasis only to discover grumpy and isolating staff. It wasn't busy but it felt like I was an uninvited guest at a private party.

Visited last week at a very busy period. Ordered a late and a crosaint , staff were helpful and warmed it up and were more than happy to go out their way to give me directions to my destination. Would definitely stop again and recommend. Lovely staff , service and coffee !! What better !!

Called in for a drink in afternoon on the way home. Staff unhelpful and drinks in paper cups too hot to hold. Sat outside, dirty tables, chairs and floor. Tea not pleasant. Will not visit again.

Tea like gnat p***.Coffee declared dreadful.Hardly run off their feet as no-one in and you still have to help yourself to milk etc.Don't even get me started on the toilets.Dirty .Just use a bush outside you will be better off.

Staff not very helpful when I could not find an item in the chiller. She put my coffee at one end of the counter and left the orange at the other. When I asked where the orange was she said down there. Tables not cleaned. Gents toilet would not flush, Water pressure in taps was too high and went everywhere, then the hand dryer did not work. Told by my partner the ladies was dirty and smelled. I think the staff need a boot up the bum to get the place sorted.

Flat white that wasnt a flat white. Staff too busy chatting to tell us our toast was ready at counter and obviously too busy to bring to table. So, overpriced cold toast! Won't be going there again. Avoid!!!

This used to be a great little diner for travellers en route to holiday destinations. Now it is a cavernous coffee-shop conversion with more staff than patrons. No food to speak of apart from overpriced pastries. The cooler is often broken on warm days so forget cold drinks. The coffee is good but expensive. If you enjoy sitting on your own in a vast stone warehouse listening to streamed jazz whilst sipping an overpriced cappuccino, then go for it....

Chose to sit outside because we have a dog. None of the tables were clean. We asked for a table to be cleaned and all we got was a GRUNT. There was a man inside pretending to sweep the floor by leaning on a broom. I ordered two drinks and something to eat and asked again for the table to be cleaned only to be told that they were all clean. So I took some serviettes to clean one my self. Sitting down I realized that I had no milk, so I went back inside and saw that the milk was on the condiments table. I grabbed the first thing I could (which was a small mug) to put some milk into and went back outside. Two minutes later a staff member came and asked me to pay for the mug as apparently it was "merchandise" and if I didn't she would report the incident as theft and proceed to call the police. I offered to clean the mug and put it back as it was a genuine mistake but that wasn't good enough for her. That's when her manager got involved. I could go on. I have never been met by such a RUDE person, still I suppose that's what you get when you call in at these "Serve Vous" eateries. Don't patronize this place unless you want to be arrested.

The staff at this Starbucks are mainly the same staff as were in the previous establishment at that location and they remain pleasant, helpful and professional and we continue to call there for the toilet facilities.

This is a Starbucks, which I wouldn't normally bother reviewing as they are all very generic. What makes this branch different are the very friendly staff, they do really lift the service beyond that which is normally expected. Ideal location to break your journey between North and South Wales. Diolch yn fawr.

I always wanted to be the first to set up a new venue on TripAdvisor. Came here back in July when it had only been open a few days - still had the flags and balloons out ! Tried to set it up on TripAdvisor but they wouldn't. Anyway someone else has, but possibly down in the wrong location.

Cafe and amenities very clean. Customer service very good. Toasted sandwich. Very tasty and warm. Coffee and a granola bar to take away.

A pleasant place for a stopover with the usual quality of coffee and mass produced food. The cafe is in a good location if you are going north or south through wales, however sone of the tables were dirty despite being cleared and a couple were waiting to be cleared. An ok stop but there are better in the town, I used it as I needed petrol.

Love or hate Starbucks - I’ve got to say I’m a big fan of good Coffee and good customer service. What makes the Starbucks in Dolgellau what it is is the outstanding customer service. What I mean by this is consistently ‘down-to-earth’ / friendly / polite communication. The ability to communicate effectively these days can sometimes be a burden and struggle to some people in front facing roles, however, I get a really good fibe from Bex, Karen, Beth, Jim and the rest of the team. It’s effortless normality - no sulking baristas here.

I think Starbucks are possibly a bit confused as to their location in Dolgellau as the address on their website (which TripAdvisor have copied) says they are at Bridge End which is in the town of Dolgellau but the map marker puts them at the Mile End services which is on the A470 just outside of Dolgellau. The place I visited (twice in one day) is at Mile End and not Bridge End. Maybe there is a second Starbucks at Bridge End but as this is the only chain restaurant of any description I’m aware of along a 90 mile stretch of road from Llandudno Junction down to Newtown I’d be surprised if there are two Starbucks in Dolgellau.
