Great place to stop for a beer and chat. Small but busy. You have to order at the bar but the bartender was quick. Recommend for an afternoon or evening beer stop.

Lovely vibe, perfect location, the price range is just the same as all other pubs in the area. Friendly staff with personality, charismatic manager, good vibe, a charming good old pub. They have a beautiful first floor you can rent for karaoke and private events. Everything's great about it. Recommended!

This is a great, authentic little pub. The inside is cosy and reassuringly traditional. There's sport on TV but it's also good for a quiet, social drink with friends and colleagues. Prices are a bit high but then it's touristy central London.

Long, Long time since I was last in this one and as I was taking friends to a restaurant relatively round the corner, I searched this one out hoping it has remained a real old school Soho Boozer. Well, very happy to report that for my visit it seemed to be so. The key selling point of the Star and Garter is that it is still a traditional back street Soho boozer and is one of the few old pubs in Soho that has not succumbed to some type of modernisation or gentrification. And I can fully appreciate those below bemoaning loud music being played here, it’s just not that type of place. It is at its best when there is nothing on the sound system, the TV is off and there is nothing to get in the way of the sound of general conversation from the assembled punters, then this pub wraps round you like a well-worn pair of slippers. Virtually unchanged internally from what I remember its all wood panelling, black and white period photo’s and the Star and Garter mirror that dominates one wall really is a thing of beauty. Yes there is one flat screen, squeezed in high up opposite the bar, but when it is not on you don’t notice it, and it wasn’t for our visit and we didn’t
Three ale pumps on the bar with TT Landlord, Marstons Pedigree and Harveys Sussex Best, but for our visit the Sussex Best clip was reversed. We went for the TT Landlord and apart from being served a tad too cold it was perfectly fine. There’s plenty of other venues in Soho that are aligned to providing loud soundtracks for those that require it. And I totally agree, this isn’t one of them.

Excellent little no thrills boozer hidden away in Soho. Decent choice of beers and snacks and the landlady Silvia is knowledgeable and very friendly. Prices are reasonable for the location. We only used the lower floor as the upper is only open over the weekend. Silvia was happy to let us view it and if you want to sit in a bar that looks like it's the set of a Guy Ritchie film, then this is it.

This traditional pub was close to our hotel so we popped in for a pint or two at lunchtime. The friendly barmaid was busy cleaning the brass and giving the shelves behind the bar a good tidy. Hubby and I were the only customers until we were about to leave and two other people came in. We walked past early evening and the place was packed and spilling out onto the pavement. Would revisit.

Old sawdust Soho Pub , full of atmosphere and diversity as you would expect from this area . Has an edge to it and staff can be a little brusque but hey it’s London .

Deafening music, bolshie bar staff who can't pull a pint to save their lives and won't change a dodgy one. I spent some of the best nights of my life in this pub but will now avoid it like the plague.

We have been coming here for years Although the pub has recently changed hands a couple of times It’s great attraction has always been a traditional London boozer concept. We often came at lunchtimes for a couple of pints and then again after work. When it reopened we were delighted and were greeted by an absolutely wonderful barmaid who we all thought was the landlady but she described herself as “just a barmaid” Well she was much more. She was incredibly good at her job interesting articulate and very well dressed and smart. As the weeks have gone on though the bar has changed so much and not for the better. Now it has blaring heavy metal rock music so loud you can’t have a conversation and bar staff covered in tattoos piercings and long multi coloured hair. They all look like they should be at a Metallica concert. Absolutely not in keeping with the concept of a 200 yr old pub!! Everything that was quirky and unique about this pub like the crusty cheese rolls has been dispensed with The introduction of sexy named shots such as slippery nipples and blowjobs was the final straw and we will not be frequenting this establishment again.

We booked a table for 4, for the Euro final at 6pm. At 7pm. I saud in booking we were a family if 4. i took my 14 year old daughter to the toilets when the managers rudely asked her for her ID. I explained she was 14, drinking diet coke and we were here for the football. She told us rudely that we had to leave by 830pm. My daughter was devastated. Shocking service. Avoid

I stumbled upon this gem of a pub last night when walking through Soho with my sister and my boyfriend. We all absolutely loved it! The three barmaids were very friendly and helpful, really attentive to the customers and knowledgeable about the local area. I cannot wait to come back here. Also not as expensive as I thought it would be for central London, I have paid more for a pint of cider out in the suburbs.

So we went to this little pub thinking it looked nice from the outside however once we were in and paid for our beers we were bitterly disappointed. We came to the pub at approx 2230 and after finally managing to disengage the staff from their phones we ordered 2 beers. Within 15 min they rang the bell for last orders and duly turned out most of the lights within the pub including the lights over a group of 6 people. They continued to serve til 11 before demanding drinks be placed in plastic glasses(so much for say no to plastic etc) Every couple of minutes we were all treated to the drunken whines of who i can only assume was the owner demanding we drink up and leave. Nearly the disgusting state of the toilets and stair which were delightfully splattered with vomit. If only the conscientious, phone wielding staff could be bothered to check on the toilet area. Safe to say will never be back and a disgrace to the military name and back it displays. Ps nearly managed a photo of bar staff on phones while customers waited however they must have sensed my disapproval😡

There are only a few of these old school boozers in Soho these days, this is one of them. Beer is nice, staff friendly.

Serves good Guinness. Seats. Tables. Bathrooms. Some carpet. A solid Soho boozer. I'm not crazy about it... but I'd hate it if anything about it changed.

I used to frequent this pub in the mid 60’s. At this time it was a vibrant establishment with great food, beer and atmosphere. I popped in recently for a beer and like a lot of London pubs is now completely souless. The barmaid was more interested in her smartphone than the customers, no food apart from the stale clingwrapped sandwiches. Ironically, the only similarity to the 60’s was that there was no wi-fi. Avoid!

Six English pounds for a lemonade and lime. Do not come to this dump. The barman literally laughed in my face when I questioned this obscene cost. Caveat emptor he said. You have been warned

A small pub with a good atmosphere. Like so many in the area, it is wood and etched glass, with toilets downstairs to save on the space. The service was pleasant and the beer (London Pride) was acceptable. The place could perhaps use a bit...

Nice buzzy proper pub that we had visited before but now seems to have some decent beers like London Pride. It's small but that's not an issue but what I didn't like was the £1 additional charge for using a debit card touch payment.

Looks nice from the outside but will not be going back ordered breakfast of scrambled eggs which were awful cooked to death in a microwave! Severed with a lump of butter to butter my bread! Flat white was more like a shot of espresso with a topping of foathed Mik that would be a cappuccino will not be returning a rip off at £8.40

Poor food quality with outrageous prices. They used to serve authentic Turkish bakery at reasonable prices. Its's no longer the case.
