Lovely food, shame they cannot get the orders correct. Every order we have ever had has been incorrectly served. Last year I collected order, took back to our holiday home (since 1977) rang the takeaway to tell them that a large cod was missing. I was told I was wrong and they were right. Eventually they reluctantly gave me the missing fish, which I collected 0.6 miles. This has happened on every order, I have not questioned it since as large value items were mostly correct on orders. Line person (female) on till has bagged and I believe processed the incorrect orders on all occasions. We do not get given an itemized receipt. My wife was with me this evening and we joked “ I wonder if the order will be right, we will repeat back when ready” He presto, order was for items including battered sausage. No! Battered sausage was I plain sausage. The food and the vibe when visiting this restaurant for collection is great and is obviously loved by locals, but why has every large order we have ever had been incorrectly served?

Great portion size and love the batter on the Fish. Chips good size not loads of scraps. Parking a pain in the bum but that's life

I decided to re-visit this fish & chip shop after a bad experience last year & am so glad that I did, I ordered haddock and chips from the lady on the till & once it was freshly cooked & carefully wrapped up I drove to the seafront to eat it, the aroma in the car was making me starving & after unwrap my meal I had to get rid of the inner packaging as it was oil logged, i put salt & vinegar on the chips & this food did not disappoint & superseded everything that I have ever eaten in this area, crispy flavoursome light batter with moist white fish inside & the chips were also crispy on the outside & fluffy in the middle, absolutely delicious & I cannot wait to return when I am next in the area. Please note that they only take cash payments, no cards & there is a carpark very nearby that you can pay 40p for just 30mins parking up until 6pm which is enough time to collect your order, especially if ordering by telephone prior to save you waiting.

Spotted this Chippy on last night of our Hols. Queue outside anywhere usually means it's good. Its better than good - the best fish & chips we have had in a very long yime

Fish and chips always cooked to perfection and portions are HUGE at a very reasonable price - visit often and always come here if in the area

I visited this fish bar whilst staying locally this week to order haddock & chips with a portion of mushy peas, but really wish I hadn't of bothered as by time I got down to the seafront to eat the food which is less than 5mins away, it was all individually wrapped & almost stone cold by time I opened it all, the thin fish was all stuck to the paper & oozing grease, the peas tasted chemical & just resembled cold puree, the white anaemic looking chips were all stuck to the bag even though i had no salt or vinegar on them & were either chewy bits or undercooked & hard, a total waste of £8.50 & very underwhelming as well as totally off-putting after waiting outside in the cold for the food to be freshly prepared, I also did expect the meal to come in a box like everywhere else presents it as I have never had food given to me all separately, very disappointing & I ended up re-wrapping it and put it in the local bin. Cash payments only too as somebody got turned away by trying to pay by card as he didn't have any cash on him, he wasn't a happy man!!

Terrible chips: dried up, inedible so tossed in the bin. Can't comment on the fish as didn't buy any, but if anything like the chips am glad I didn't. Never again.

Was good but nothing exceptional to especially go back for, would try other places next time. The cod was nice, batter a bit too greasy and chips plentiful but some were soggy and pale. No indoor dining options, cash only and a bit far to walk from the beach front.

even before Covid there open on when they feel like it Once twice maybe But ten times seriously says its open go all the way there shut for another holiday or some other reason have to go through facebook now just too find out not open again

I'm a local living near to Star fish & chips and spent the day at the hospital with my daughter. Not wanting to cook thought I'd give them a try as i'd always gone to the battered fryer but it was just that bit further away - what a mistake! Also cash only. Had two med fish which were sitting ready and a large chips; THE FISH BATTER WAS GREASY AND LOOKED AS THOUGH IT HAD BEEN DOUBLE COOKED, AND THE (ENORMOUS) PORTION OF CHIPS WERE SCRAPPY OLD AND AGAIN LOOKED LIKE LEFTOVERS FROM LUNCH All in all an experience not to be repeated - back to the battered fryer!!!!

Always amazing quality and portions. Can never fault it. Fish is the very best quality and so fresh. Very friendly and SPOTLESS Go nearly every week if I can

Noticed this was open so we thought we would give it a go, not had any form of takeaway for 8 weeks. I thought they were organised with contactless payment, Perspex screen by the till etc. I stood outside why they were being cooked with no social distancing issues, this virus is going to with us for a long time so we are going try to gradually adapt to what will become the new normal. The fish and chips were lovely and a bit of a treat.

Safe distancing on weds night you order food on phone collect or order by cash in queue . I have asthma and I was really worried tonight. Came out lidls seen star chippy open .They are my favourite chippy in Burnham. Tonight food as always great,but the standing outside in the queue there are no marks on pavement 2 metres safe distancing. SO PEOPLE JUST GOT TO DOOR WITHIN 2 FEET OF EACH OTHER!! Dont think will order again if they dont check their customers are being responsible.I had 2 people got really close to me and a man stood outside in doorways as people side stepped him to get out.Wonder if it's worth the risk. Regards local regular customer.

I have used this chippy for many years now, after moving to the area and trying many others this was by far the best. Only place I found that doesn’t microwave their pies. Generous portion sizes, excellent value for money, best fish ever! All Very tasty, owners and staff always friendly and helpful. I never use any other chippy! Ever!!

myself and my husband have used this fish shop for two years now after trying various ones in the area and to date we have not had any reason to complain every thing is cooked to order and the fish is not all batter, the staff are very friendly

We love going to the Star Fish and Chip shop. The owners are a lovley and friendly. Tonight's fish and chip were superb, we throughly enjoyed our meal.

Went here as a friend recommended it to us walked in and all I could smell was donna kebab I wanted to go but hubby was starving never again the batter on the fish was so thick and the fish tasted awful I could not eat it all I could taste was Donna kebab the chips ok ish wont be going back

We got fish and chips, normally not bad at all, they were super busy, the chips needed longer to crisp up as some a little under cooked, because they put the fish in same bag as the chips and close the bag, by the time. You get home the steam from the chips has made your fish soggy and the grease from the fish has no where to go than the chips underneath, pies are poor quality, but you do get a lot of bang for you bucks, staff always nice, just need tweaking here and there to bring it right up there.

Been going here for years and the quality always on point... good portions friendly staff can’t beat that.

When visiting the coast I try and find a chippy away from the sea front. When I got to the Star we had to queue outside, which isn't a problem the plaice is obviously popular. I'm glad I went for the regular cod as it was plenty big enough for me. Loads of chips and great value. Nice crispy batter on the cooked to order code. Would happily return again.

I had already planned where we were going to get our fish and chips before heading in to Burnham, on driving past this chip shop and seeing around 10 people waiting I thought it must be good. On arriving at my chosen chip shop and not seeing anyone waiting I google mapped how to get back to this chippy!!

Great tasting chips are lovely fish shaped fish (no pressed pre shaped here) with dark golden batter. Probably some of the best fish I’ve ever had...Superb!

A very popular establishment with locals. The owners are very friendly. The portions are a good size and value for money. You may have to wait for some items to be cooked, it is worth the wait. Very clean.

We frequently went to this fish & chip shop, at least twice a week! One lunch time I treated my daughter to a fish and chip lunch and was served by one of the Portuguese girls and an English girl. I didn’t twig completely at first at the price, but did think it was a little steep, I ordered 3 lunchtime specials as we were going to visit a friend. It wasn’t until my daughter and I went in two days later to collect food for our evening meal that I noticed a menu brochure and checked the prices! I had always gotten on with the lady owner and so I mentioned to her about the discrepancy! She wouldn’t have it! I asked her if she thought I was hard up for a few pounds, and that she knew how long we had been going there and what we spent! She seemed torn between the Portuguese employee and myself! I left telling her I would never return and if she needed to rob from customers, good loyal customers then I felt sorry for her!

Had large cod and cone of chips to takeaway. Two very large pieces of cod with a nice crispy batter and excellent chips.

We called into the Star on the off chance because of a recommendation. The food was really good as was the service and without doubt we will return.

Having visited here many times before, we were really looking forward to fish and chips on Friday lunchtime. Not sure if it’s got new owners/ cook but certainly not up to standard. The chips were dry and look warm.. tasted like they’d been left over last night and warmed up... won’t be back!!

Love the fish and chips here, cheese burgers and chicken nuggets go down well with the grandchildren too.

Four of us got food here on our first day of our holiday, four completely different meals as well.

We visit Star Fish quite often. We have tried pretty much all of the fish and chip shops in and around Burnham but this is the one we keep coming back to. It offers great food at reasonable prices compared to the rest of town. The service is always warm and friendly too.

This place has become my usual, in fact I don't need to tell them what I want anymore, they know as soon as I walk through the door! Very friendly & happy staff! Long may it continue!

Its the most amazing fish the chips are amazing the half chicken is lovely when its been crispy extra, its the best chippy in Burnham my children lovely there sausages and the curry sauce is lovely but not too spicy

Me and the other half had cod and chips each from this chippy today, having been recommended it by my mum. Lovely fish and chips - good portion sizes - well priced - would highly recommend. GREAT CHIPPY!

Fish and chips twice and pie and chips, reasonable price large portions.Very busy shop but thought the chips were a little dry and the fish a bit brown rather than golden (the batter that is)

Came here last Monday with some friends, excellent service and great food with huge portions. all 4 of us enjoyed everything we had. the cod was fresh cooked and the batter was great. we will be back when we come to Burnham again.

Good service good menu very good chips and very good kebabs the fish is good the burgers are good the nuggets are good in fact it's all good with happy friendly team serving

Lovely food and large portions one lot of fish and chips could feed 2 people. A tad awkward to park near there as its on a busy street but worth the inconvenience.

This chippy is very good value for money the portions are generous and the menu is great, they have lots of veggie options including a veggie cake (instead of fish cake) which I haven't seen before, it was nice. The gravy is lovely and the chips are very very nice! Would go this chippy over any other. Staff are friendly too.

We were staying at Haven close by. Didn't fancy the onsite chippy due to TA reviews. We had Cod and Haddock and both were cooked well and we're tasty. Prices were very reasonable to. We would use them again.

The batter is excellent and remains light & crispy when wrapped up and taken home, unlike some other fish n chip shops. Staff are welcoming and the menu is extensive by fish n chip shop standards.

Im amazed how this great chippy can provide a generous portion for the price, yet others cant. Food quality is superb, staff are friendly and waiting times are very short due to excellent staff.

The title of my review tells the story, simply the best Fish & Chips in Burnham on Sea. Generous portions, friendly staff and the real bonus is the batter used. Many fish and chip shops have crispy batter but by the time you get home, the batter has gone soggy & greasy, not with the Star, the batter is always light & crispy. I am very impressed with this fish & chip shop and you have to travel a long way to find a similar quality (There's a good one in Shepton Mallet)

The veggie spring roll is the best I have ever tasted, so crispy and tasty! Chips are very good too. Also had the veggie curry spring roll, also worth a try. My visitors said the fish was excellent and are looking forward to fish and chips this Monday. Chip portions are very very generous. Staff are polite and friendly, well worth finding this place as its a short walk away from the main street.

Highly rate the excellent fish and chips. Always receive a warm welcome. Would have given 5 stars if the shop door was fixed to fully close in the winter months.
