Star Cafe in Bedford

Muy pobre. No hice bien mi pedido. No pedí setas y conseguí algunas. Se dieron salchichas de cerdo y puerro y no soy fan (debería decirlo en el menú). El pudín negro no estaba lo suficientemente cocido. Desperdiciado la mayor parte.

Absolutely disgusting, AVOID AVOID!!! jacket potato cheese and beans, had so much margarine on it, it was inedible. The margarine melted, then went hard again as the café was so cold. All I could eat was the side salad and a few beans that managed to escape the vat of margarine, when I said I couldn't eat it, due to it swimming in (now hard) margarine, I was told "next time order with no butter, coz that's how it comes" please look at photos... would you eat that????? I explained that I was happy to pay half the bill, I was told I had to pay in full or I would not be allowed to leave. I said that was fine, call the police, I was happy to wait. Or they could accept my £5 note (meal total was 9.10 so more than half) the owner told me to take my money back, swore at me and told me to never come back again. I allowed him to keep the £5 and agreed that I would NEVER return. Cafe was dirty, cold, unfriendly and tables were sticky. AVOID AVOID!!!

Been in there 6 times . The sraff are very nice and always welcome you in the cafe. Foods very good and good quality. Seems to be busy most times people can eat and drink outside lots of seating in front and down the side of the cafe. The indky thing is that its rather cold in there so keep your coat on i would advise in the colder months.

Average service, very nice Julius Meinl (Austrian) coffee. Perfect poached eggs, on average toast. The best hash browns in Bedford. What let the meal down was once again, those dreadful cheap and nasty catering sausages, which are bland, have no texture and are tasteless. I would pay more to have proper sausages, and with a local family butcher nearby, there really is no excuse. This is all about maximising profits, really than offering paying customers quality sausages. Very disappointing. Food hygiene rating is 5 out of 5.

I visited this venue for lunch today, the seating area is basic but comfortable, the menu is extensive with a great choice of snacks and meals all Cooked to order, my omelette with chips and salad was perfect, not dripping in grease and the salad was fresh and crisp. The staff are polite despite the slight language barrier and my meal was good value for money. I would recommend this cafe for good value, good standard, efficient service.

We went into the Star Café for lunch while shopping in Bedford. This café is close to the bus station and the Harpur Shopping Centre and has both indoor and outdoor seating. They do all day breakfasts, lasagne, spaghetti (Bolognese or carbonara), roast beef, chicken, lamb, turkey and pork dinners, omelettes, burgers, jacket potatoes, fish and chips, pies, scampi, salads and much more. Everything on the menu was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and polite. We ordered the traditional fish and chips and it was lovely, the fish was a good size and there were plenty of chips and peas. We will definitely be going there again when we are shopping in Bedford.
